I cannot say enough about this dentist office. It was almost surreal. From the staff, to the dentist was an AWESOME experience. And they also worked with me on the bill. They were very concerned about doing the stuff that needed to be done while keeping the low price in mind. Dr Desai was absolutely terrific, I had six teeth pulled and had no pain. I highly recommend them! Like I said they did so much more than I expected. They are now my dentist.

I’ve been going here for years and have always had a positive experience. Dr. Desai is great: thorough, intentional, and genuinely friendly. The hygienists are always good, but I’m writing this review today because of my wonderful experience with Courtney. I left with cleaner teeth and a lighter mood thanks to her skill and kindness.

I love this practice. Unfortunately I had a poor experience with a dentist in another state and was hesitant to find a practice when moving to Columbia, SC. From the front desk to to exam room, the staff and the dentist have made my now 4th cleaning an excellent and comforting experience. I highly recommend Shandon Family Dentistry.

I just got home from my appointment and am thoroughly impressed! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. The hygienists were very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Desai went the extra mile!! They explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. Most of my questions were probably silly, but they took the time to explain things to me and were very genuine in their responses. The staff was completely unprofessional, rude and rushed through the dental work and through the financial contract for a crown. Upon arriving to finalize crown, the insurance had been ran by the business manager incorrectly and the incorrect balance was expected day of completion. Business manager was uncooperative about her mistake and the situation as a whole.

Best staff you could ever ask for. Every single staff member said good morning when they see you & make sure you are good. I had X-rays done and assistant was so helpful and didnt rush them. Once they were done the doctor came in to talk to me about surgery. He made me very at ease. He explained everything he would do and possible symptoms after. All staff was very knowledgeable. I just moved to the area and they gave me an appointment within a few days. Everything was easy and painless to get set up as a new patient. The hygienist was super friendly and was sure to make the cleaning as pain free as possible and very attentive. The dentist explained everything he was doing and why in detail. It was really cool to get a better understanding of WHY they ask you to keep a watch on a certain tooth and how you can be preventative. The technology was up to date and everyone was very friendly and the appointment was quick. Amazing staff all around!

I adore Shandon Family Dentistry! Excellent dental work! They are professional, friendly, and extremely thorough. The front staff is exceptional! They really work with you on scheduling. My children, myself, and my husband go here. I have five children and they work with me on getting my children in quickly and convenient times. I highly recommend this dental office to anyone in and around the area.

The initial staff was great. I arrived about 8 minuets early for my appointment that was setup at 12:30 then they told me I was extremely early for my 12:45 appointment... I wrote down word for word what the receptionist told me as we talked. The lady that cleaned my teeth was late. Then the doctor that came to talk to me about my teeth took about 20 minuets to show up. I had to hold onto the chair handles because they almost flipped me out backwards from lowering it. Not only that the building was hidden with no signs behind another dentist!!! They were very forceful while cleaning my mouth and I couldn’t swallow and choked on my own saliva several times. With my mouth pride open there wasn’t much I could say. Never will I ever go here again. I’m just going to go to my friends dentist in Lexington that is almost a 40 minute drive but has all the newest equipment and I know more than 20 people who go there and love it and highly recommend it to me! Also, this dentist told me that I most likely needed a root canal and when I went to my friends dentist they stayed open late to see me for a second opinion and laughed saying that a root canal was absolutely NOT necessary. So, GOODBYE Shannon Dentistry!!!!

They would not send xrays in time to get surgeon to pull tooth and they cancelled my appointment bc they wouldn’t do so. My wife heard the entire conversation with surgeon and they lied about me threatening staff and I didn’t do so. My wife and I were listening so I’m not just talking just to say this. Even the dentist got an attitude yesterday bc the lights were sensitive and I wasn’t looking him directly in the face bc my head was hurting so bad. I will not return to this establishment and I’m suggesting that all my listeners do the same!

I have had great experiences at this dentist office. I have been there five times in the past month, and have not had an issue at any point. I stopped going to the dentist for about four years, and I regret it. My brother in law recommended Shandon Family Dentistry to me, and I am so thankful he did. Dr. Desai helped me get back on track with my teeth, and I recommend him to anyone who hasn’t gone to the dentist in a while or does not feel comfortable with their current dentist.

Dr. Desai and his staff are amazing! He truly wants all of his patients to be comfortable during every encounter and procedure. He does great work. The staff are exceptionally warm and personable. My husband and I have been patients for several years. We love it!

AMAZING service !!! I came in for a cleaning but I knew that I needed my wisdom teeth removed (all four) 😩 THE ENTIRE STAFF WAS NOTHING SHORT OF SWEET PROFESSIONALS. DOC pulled all four of my wisdom teeth within 20mins top 💪🏽 The whole service lasted for about an hour . They take very good care of you and make you feel comfortable. I loved this place they were very forward and thorough with explaining all my issues concerning my teeth, they didnt waste anytime and they have an amazing bedside manner for people like me who panic in dentists chairs but they let me know it was OK and reassured me the whole way through Ill never go to another dentist again.

This office likely has the best customer service out of any place (not just dentists offices) I have ever been to.The staff makes you feel comfortable. Dr. Desai is intelligent and kind, and the atmosphere is calm and laid back, yet professional.I have to say, the best part is that they do not try to undercut you regarding finances. Very efficient and polite I came in for a consultation and ended having the procedure done same day with very little wait time. Shelbey walked me through everything and made sure I knew exactly what was going on for medications and the procedure itself.

If the dentistry ever reads this, heres what I want for them to get out of this review:- You have great customer service- Everyone I have met at the office is very polite.- The services you provide are great- This has been one of the best dentist offices Ive been in.- All those positive points are pretty much negated because of the problems with billing. I kept feeling like I was being cheated.- When the insurance company does not pay out, take the discrepancy up with them instead of just charging the customer and have that customer go back and forth between you and the insurance company for answers.Everyone is really polite there and they do a great job on your teeth.They also seem to genuinely care about the health of your mouth.Everything about their services are great; except for the billing.I have had more than one occasion where billing was an issue.One time, the dentistry informed me that my insurance was not going to pay for a certain service I received so I paid for the service in full.But then a few weeks after all my services were complete, I received a letter in the mail from my insurance company stating they remitted for everything.I called the dentistry about it and after showing them the letter I received, I received a refund. Even then I had to dispute the refund amount.I wish they would have said something about my insurance paying out and that I had a refund due instead of me finding out and me having to contact them and provide evidence. That made me think they were trying to pocket both the insurance and my money.Through all of this, they were extremely polite, apologetic, and fixed the issue.This time around, the billing was really frustrating because I am being told that I need to go back to the insurance company again to fight for my refund. I should not have to go back to the insurance company. Which of course once again I had to contact them several times about a refund before anything was done.If the company knows that the insurance did not remit all they were supposed to remit they should go back to the insurance company and fight for that amount, not charge the customer. Especially since they have the proof in their office.The person at the dentistry was nice enough to explain everything to me and break down what the insurance was supposed to pay and gave me what I needed so I can fight for my refund, but that conversation should not have been with me. It should have been with my insurance company. The dentistry should have been having that conversation with them in order to get the money they deserved to get. Not punishing the customer for the insurances mistake (if that is true). I should have received a full refund for the deposit I made.Then at the end he states, “I hate when this happens.” Don’t just say “I hate when this happens.” Fix it by going to the insurance instead of charging the customer. You might as well say, “well you are out of luck and you aren’t getting your money back.”So if you want to go to this dentist office for a cleaning, by all means go. You will get excellent service, your teeth will get proper cleaning and you will be treated with kindness and respect. But be aware of how your services get billed. You will have to monitor what was charged verses what your insurance pays out and may have to fight what charges you receive.Also be wary if they ask for you to make any deposits in advance. It might be best if you refuse. You may not receive your full refund if a mistake was made.

I am an avid user of chewing tobacco and haven’t been to the dentist in 4 years. Shandon Family Dentistry set me up with a treatment plan and helped me through my nervousness. Removed 1 wisdom tooth with ease. I love this people, they have changed my life.

Good dentist. Made my first filling a painless experience. But they will bug you with the phone calls. I get 4+ calls and text messages reminding me of my appointments, including multiple calls a day (they always call when Im busy so I cant answer). Kinda annoying.

I finally accepted I needed to find a new dentist when I moved to town. I found the people who worked at Shandon Family Dentistry to be very unpleasant and not friendly. One of the ladies up front also gave me wrong financial information and someone had to come over and show her where she messed up and almost charged me more than she should have. The dentist was also borderline condescending.

No appointment made prior to the day I went with extreme pain. Awesome staff, saw me that day and I will use them as my dental care facility.

I was underwhelmed by this practice. I gave it 3 tries and was disappointed every time. The dentist seemed disinterested and bored, I waited for 15 minutes in the chair for him to look at my teeth for 30 seconds and walk out. Everytime I went there was something broken & the ceilings have stains. I did not feel like it was an efficient or effective dental practice, I will not be returning. the dental hygienist was friendly, but perhaps not a very high quality of care.

If you need to get your teeth extracted, come here. Quick and painless.

Very unprofessional. The gentleman at the front desk will locate your loved ones and make passes at them. The fool wanted to take a 1 year 8 month old to Plex! I would not recommend this place to even my enemies. I would find an office with values and a code of conduct instead!

The worst customer service dentist office in Columbia, SC. I came in and had to get two cavities filled. Dr. Dez Desai was externally rude. He became flustered several times which in return made me nervous for me to operate in my mouth. He explained that I couldn’t just leave anyway because he had drilled a big hole in my tooth, and I wasn’t able to leave without getting it filled. When I explained that I was nervous because of his actions, and his unsettling words he told me I wasn’t nervous because of him and his attitude I was nervous because of my behavior. He began working roughly on my mouth. After filling the tooth, he left the room without saying a word. Very poor customer service! Very Rude! If I could give 0 stars I would. If you have any small children or if you are looking for a new doctor’a office I wouldn’t suggest this one!

Best dentist in columbia! I came in for my first exam and cleaning. The doctor said I needed a few things done and explained everything to me. Sharima explained what my insurance covers and what it didnt. I walked out of the office with so much knowledge! The staff is very warm and welcoming and my entire visit was a phenomenal experience! A+Dr. Desai and his team had their hands full when I first walked into the door. I was embarrassed to show my teeth in public. Dr. Desai walked me through all of my options and prepared a plan to handle my various dental needs. Three months later, I cant stop showing off my pearly whites! I couldnt be happier.The first thing youll notice is that the entire staff genuinely cares about your dental needs. They were probably more excited than I was about my progress. Ive had multiple crowns and veneers done by them. Whenever an unexpected issue arises, they always fit me in the same day. The technology is top notch and the service and professionalism exhibited by the staff is equally impressive. I highly recommend Shandon Family Dentistry for all your dental needs.

Very bad service. The staffs failure to communicate lead to several appointments that needed to be reschulded. Which cost me a half a day of no work. Couldnt get the staff to acknowledge their mistake even though they apparently knew there was a hold up with my insurance for two weeks didnt feel the need to call me. They just waited until i showed up for my appointment to then inform me. I felt like i was being cheated bc everytime the billing would fluctuate extremly after the initial estimate. I was told my insurance would cover a procedure and after the appointment i was handed a $700.00 dollar bill. Only after this cleaning could not be completed in its entirety, Shamira told me that she would e-mail me vochure for a free cleaning. Reached out to her by e-mail and phone several times with no responses. Only after i posted a bad review i was contacted and told i would be sued if i didnt remove my post... Avoid THIS Place!!!!

I have bad teeth. Its my own fault... I grind them and bit my nails for many years. For this reason, I hate going to the dentist. For the first time, I am looking forward to just trying to fix my mistakes (as much as possible). I have never gone to a dentist where they seemed so positive and proactive about me being able to address my problems. I am looking forward to not having to dread the news I get each visit.

I was thoroughly impressed by the professionalism exhibited by both the office staff & Dr. Desai. The Hygienist was extremely thorough and efficient and I feel was the single best cleaning Ive had in 39 years:) Dr. Desai went over a treatment plan that showed care for both my dental health & my financial health... Prioritizing procedure in such an order to insure that no extra work would be done only to be undone by future procedures. I would HIGHLY recommend Shandon Family Dentistry to anyone.
