Dr. Matthews is a great person and excellent doctor. The customer service given by the staff is the best. I have been a patient of Devine Eyes for several years.

I had my first visit at Devine Eyes and could really tell the staff cares about people and not just trying to get people in and out. The staff truly took the time to explain what the procedures were for and what to expect. I love when a business feels more personalized like it was.

Dr. Pockl and his team were great! Dr. Pockl took the time to explain to me different types of prescription eyeglasses that would best meet my needs. His staff members during the eye evaluation and upfront at the end when picking out eyeglasses were great as well. I highly recommend this practice.

My son and I had a great experience. We didnt have to wait long, once we got in the room the staff was very attentive, to my son especially, making sure he was comfortable and knew what was going on. Great experience here. Knowledgeable staff, a good alternative for dilation available (retinal scan). Im difficult with picking glasses, but the staff helped me for over an hour. Very happy!

I had been going to this office for almost the last 10 years. I called today to schedule an appointment and notified them my insurance changed. The lady I spoke with was rather rude when she could not locate my new insurance provider and seemed like she did not want to deal with it. So I will be looking for a new eye doctor to visit. I absolutely LOVEDDD my experience with Devine Eyes. From the time I walked in Kelly made sure to greet me with a smile and made sure I was fully versed on how the process would be. Michelle was the tech that did the pictures and test of my eyes. She was wonderful and made sure I was prepared and aware of all the test and why they were needed. The doctor was nice and personable and didn’t hit me with jargon. Then I met Jackie, SHE IS ABSOLUTELY FANASTIC!!! Jackie made me feel so special and and took her time with me while we selected a pair of frames. She treated my experience like she was choosing a pair of frames for herself. The staff here is so friendly and accommodating. They were able to fix a pair of my sunglasses on the spot. It saved me the trouble of having to mail them in to be repaired. Customer service like theirs is hard to find! Thank you so much and I will definitely be back.

If you are going to work in a retail/front desk job you should be more friendly. I didn’t think I would ever hate another office for having an atmosphere that was so negative. I understand you’ll have bad days or customers come in already aggravated, you should show more professional emotions coming from a business that tenders to customer needs. Everyone else is definitely more friendly but the ladies at the front desk definitely need more work. I don’t remember having a horrible time my first visit, but it will be my only. I’m definitely taking my services elsewhere. Horrible service will deter away anyone willing to shop for their eye care needs.

Doctor is the most professional Ive seen here so far in SC, and I see multitudes of doctors. Super clean office, nice waiting area, marble times. A little hard to see while driving by, keep your eyes out for that entrance in between the buildings.

The staff was so helpful and friendly. They knew about and took the USC student insurance. The doctor was very nice and helpful. Overall the experience was great!Edit- I continue to go to Devine Eyes to get my eyes checked an order contact lenses/glasses. The staff is truly exceptional. This place is the best in town!

Dr. Matthews is wonderful and the staff are very friendly. My only complaint is that they dont offer frames that are less than $200. While I love the brands they offer, I wish they had some lower price options. Overall I love them and will keep going there.

The place tries to scam customers by forcing you to go to a future eye appointment and does not honor a current prescription. When a customer requests a prescription to be sent to another office they write a limit on how much the new eye doctor can order even though the prescription I have is good for another 3 months. They are effectively trying to force me to go to an eye appointment three months out and wont let me order contacts from my current prescription. Dont go here they will try to rip you off. I have been going to eye doctors for 22 yrs. And was never told that a current prescription that has 3 months on it can only be filled in limited quantities. The new eye doctor has never seen such a thing and is calling every eye doctor he knows to make sure he can order me the contacts I need. This is unlawful. I am telling everyone who uses Google reviews to watch OUT. Look at the other reviews about terribly rude office staff. DO NOT GO HERE. GO THERE AT YOUR OWB RISK! I am switching eye doctors ASAP. not to mention the prescription they tried to give me originally was wrong and I couldnt see. I told them to give me the prescription I had two years ago because I couldnt see out of the lenses they were trying to sell me.

They do have a good selection but seem way overpriced. They drew us in with a groupon that never said that the groupon cannot be combined with insurance. They would not give us the money back but gave us a store credit , thats why I gave them an extra star. I would say they were generally nice but one of the receptionist was giving me an evil look of disdain (sorry, it does not work with me) when we did not make a purchase and asked for our money.

Kind staff, but overpriced. Dr. P is really friendly and provides patients with lots of trial products to find out what works best for them. There are a TON of glasses options. They even have a coffee bar in case you need a little pick me up while youre there.

Being a student at USC, I was apprehensive to finding an eye specialist in Columbia rather than just staying with the one I had at home. However, I am so happy that I found Devine Eyes! I was welcomed and kept informed regarding everything during the entire visit. I felt very comfortable and will definitely be coming back. I just wish I would have found them sooner!

Everyone is friendly and approachable. They make sure to work with your insurance company to get you the best price. I only go there for contacts, so I dont know how they are with eyeglasses.Dont worry about getting tested for glaucoma. They numb your eye to conduct the test, which means that you dont have to fear the puff of air that is blown into your eye.

Took my dad here and he spent roughly 40 minutes waiting to be seen. It was a pretty routine fix for his frames and he called ahead.

I never write reviews. But I had such a hard time finding an eye doctor I felt comfortable with. Hands down. Dr. Matthews is a great doctor. I went to 3 other eye doctors that thought I was too difficult to wear contacts. My first visit with Dr.Matthews and his helpful staff, I walk out with contacts and the skills to put them in and out. I dont even live in the Columbia area anymore but still drive to come see them.

I called to set up an eye appointment because I like the idea of helping local practices. When I called, I asked if there was a way I could set up an eye appointment in the next week or so. I was quickly cut off with Honey I dont have anything until next month so I dont know what to tell you. Needless to say, I told her thank you but I wont set up an appointment and she hung up without a word. This is horrible to people who have no idea what scheduling is like, and to potential new patients. I would have been fine with her telling me they were booked out had she told me in a more polite manner. Because of her, I will never go here.

The doctor is pleasant enough and he does spend time but .... Im not sure hes terribly focused. The office is clean and modern. Nice but ...... Went for exam and my R eye had changed for the better. A good thing. New contacts rx. When he went to write rx for my glasses, it looked the same and I mentioned that if my contact rx had changed? Then shouldnt my glasses? He said: Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Really? These are my eyes and it costs money for eyeglasses. I kinda want the right rx. Then I got sample contacts for changed R eye. We had decided on -3.0 in the office but samples in the brand I use were for -3.5 and the -3.0 is in a brand Ive never used. When I called the office, I was told by staff that different brands could have different numbers and that the doctor knows that hes doing and implied that I shouldnt worry my pretty little head about it. Finally got more samples in correct brand. I asked to have my eyes re-checked before outlay of money and he did recheck my eyes. A bit of a change in the eyeglass rx but who knows. Maybe I was more or less hydrated that day. Anyway, rx for contacts. I didnt check it until I had driven out to Costco ... which I hate because it is across town. He had apparently written for his his favorite brand ... Optix ..... and not the brand Ive used for years. Im blind as a bat for distance and my close vision is getting worse and .... yes .... Im picky about trying to optimize my vision as best I can.

My recent visit for my yearly check up and as they always are very professional, polite and I was in and out in about an hour. I have always received the best attention and my questions are always answered . Ive recommended them to several friends who also have had a good experience.

The other reviews touch on the problem: Dr Pockl and the backoffice staff are just fine. Professional, helpful and thorough. Its the front desk thats a problem and the front desk gal who presides over everyone--employees and customers--with barely disguised impatience. She exudes passive-aggressive behavior (since you dont know who your vision care insurance is with, I will have to call later for you.) I did know and told her when I showed her my insurance card. She just didnt recognize the company and wouldnt accept my word. There is a running undercurrent of tension between her and the others. During my most recent visit they were arguing under their breath right in front of me. I had to wait for them to finish before they would focus their attention on me. It mystifies me why the owners of this business would tolerate this one employee especially since it seems to affect business. Getting an appointment is no problem and there is rarely more than one other customer there along with me. My first visit a couple years ago they got the prescription wrong and I had to wait another two weeks for my glasses. This latest visit they forgot to print out for me my two separate prescriptions. I expect thats enough tries for me and I will research another optical care retailer for next time.

Awesome! Every time I come here I am taken care of so well. I called last minute on a Friday because I was having issues with one of my eyes. Dr. Matthews had already left but came back into the office to make sure I was taken care of because he did not want me going all weekend without treatment! Will not go anywhere else for my eye care!!! The staff is super knowledgeable and funny and sincerely care. I am a hairstylist I can tell when someone is genuine and when they are not! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have had nothing but a terrible experience. The customer service is terrible and I was not satisfied with diagnosis. I had to go to another doctor to solve my issue. I would not recommend working with anyone there.

I went, tried on glasses, was told I could get them in solid black. After about 3 weeks of waiting, I received the glasses but they were black on outside and purple and orange multicolored on the inside. Needless to say, I hate them.

Excellent. I trust my vision to them and travel to see them instead of any other place.

The tech that did the exam was great and I liked Dr. Pockl. Its the miserable woman that works at the front desk that ruins the entire experience. I got the impression she was the Office Manager by the way she was rudely bossing everyone around in front of patients. She is very unfriendly, acts put out when you ask questions, didnt crack a smile the entire time I spoke to her. Why would anyone want to choose and order frames from them if it means spending more time with her? This was my first and last visit. I administer benefits for many large and small businesses and I will recommend to my clients that they do NOT go to Devine Eyes.

I have to agree that there are two receptionists who are rude and act annoyed by their customers. I just got off the phone with one who was very demeaning in tone. Their selection is also small and their prices are high. Im switching to a different place.

Dr. Mathews is great. Very through. Unfortunately a couple of the office staff are not. No follow through. My eye glass order was lost. Now my contact was lost. The bothersome part is that I had to call and ask them to call the contact company and get a tracking number. The contact company didnt give the tracking number the three times that Devine Eyes called. First time the request was made. The second time the contact lense person was at lunch, the third time the contact lense place stated that they will reship the lense. Devine Eyes states that their customer generally dont ask for a tracking number. I normally do not, however, if a pkg. is lost I do. Granted devine Eyes did not loose the lense, BUT why do business with someone who makes u loose business??Why does a cutomer have to ask u to call the place where the item was ordered from?
