Dr.Alayo is a sweat heart. He definitely took the time to understand and give me a realistic weight loss plan and made me feel very comfortable in the appointment. Some doctors can be very rude and judge mental about over weight clients but he was very understanding, professional and polite. The staff was also very friendly and upbeat. I had went to another doctor prior to seeing Dr.Alayo and came back feeling defeated. Going to their office was a breath of fresh air from me being assisted by staff to seeing the Doctor. I would definitely recommend seeing him to anyone.

Horrific experience , totally inept office manager , angry , defensive , misrepresented a criticaly needed appointment with who should have been the doctor , after waiting two months , the office manager told me heatedly , basically , tough do-do , youre not even having the not office visit but phone appt to not see the doctor but an assistant , over the phone , cant help you , as my chest fills up with stomach as from a torn esophagus . Not a surgeon , did not even get a referral.Catastrophically negative office procedures , not a patient ethically inclined staff .Dr Alayo , .. get a better office manager and staff . They are ruining your practice .A single star rating is too much .Ive gotten some bad referrals and this is definitely one of them . Minus 10.

This is a very important procedure and could be life saving. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The procedure went smooth. And the outcome was good news. Im good for another 10 years! Dont put it off its not as bad as you think.

This office is not just incompetent but also engages in insurance fraud.Earlier this year I scheduled a phone appointment with who I was told would be Dr. Alayo but instead spoke with a staff member who didnt try to hide the fact that she was trying to get me off the phone not even 10 minutes into the call because she had other patients to get to. Did not provide any medical advice or tell me anything I didnt already know - I scheduled the phone appointment with a doctor because I needed to speak with a doctor.Despite this, in an attempt to spare myself from the hassle of having to change doctors I tried making another appointment. Over the course of a month I tried calling their office close to 10 times before giving up, no one ever answered or returned voicemails. Needless to say, after that I had no choice but to change doctors.To add insult to injury, months later I received an invoice from insurance notifying me that the office billed them $230 for a 30-45 minute in person visit that never happened (not even scheduled, they completely made it up) in addition $27 for the 10 minute phone call which wasnt billable since I didnt speak with anyone qualified to provide medical advice. Straight up crooks.

The people at Dr Alayos office are friendly,helpful and make an awkward procedure seem comfortable.

My primary doctor referred me to see Dr. Erick Alayo as a specialist. I have made appointment to see Dr. Alayo and the appointment was confirmed in writing by the doctors office to see Dr. Alayo. However, when I went to the office for this appointment, I could only see a nursing practitioner and did NOT see Dr. Alayo at all! When I explained that this appointment was made and confirmed in writing to see Dr. Alayo instead of a nursing practitioner, the office people were NOT honest with very bad attitude. Im a senior and have seen many doctors. My above experience with Dr. Alayos office is the worst one I ever had with any doctors office!

All this doctor wants its collect your insurance money he doesnt care about your helth and problems. Its not worth it.

First time patient who loved the services and staffers were high spirited and friendly ladies. The only thing I did not like was the parking situation. I did not expect to have to park in the neighborhood and walk to the appointment.

Dr. Erick H Alayo, MD and his staff are very professional and most importantly, very caring. I am very impressed with everyone on his staff. My nurse Chris did an excellent job before and after my procedure. He knew I was a little stressed but he did his best to comfort me. I am thankful I went in because the doctor found one polyp. Dont have any worries going to Dr. Alayo, you will be in good hands!

Everyone has a different experience. Mine was great. Everyone was super nice and answered all my questions. The wait time was a whole 10 minutes.

During Covid they were very understanding to my daughter (Jarnesha Artis) having had brain surgery so us wanted to see the doctor but wanted an alternative to coming into the office, office staff were very well versed with getting all information and access to my daughters previous GI doctor, offering solutions to her issues relating to chronic GI, going over and making sure we understand treatment and follow up,Thank You so much.

He and his staff are very conscience about Covid procedures. Very pleasant interaction with his office staff. The Dr. was very thorough and asked alot of questions. He is very nice. I was very comfortable speaking with him. I left feeling he cared about what was going on with me.

All this Dr. wants to do is schedule colonoscopies and endoscopies to bilk your insurance not giving a heck about you, your health, or getting you better.

Excellent Nurses and Doctor. I was extremely nervous going in I could barely hear what everyone was asking me. I have a fear of needles and Cristina really helped me calm down and I was able to relax and focus on my breathing while my IV was being prepped. I remember meeting Doctor Alayo and greeting the Anesthesiologist and then the next thing I knew I was waking up at home. Delightful experience. Highly recommend.

I tried to make an appointment and the receptionist was very rude.

The parking is horrible. There is no place to park AT ALL. If you are disabled you will have a difficult time accessing this office. I would recommend being dropped off. Expect to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour after your appointment time to even see the doctor. The reception staff is unprofessional and incompetent. They never sent a follow up email or text with the information on where they were located, the issue with the parking or any other information. I had to call my insurance company to get the location information.Last, my appointment was scheduled for 1:30. When I arrived at 1:25 she proceeded to tell me it was 1:15, I was late, but they could still see me. I told her no, I was told 1:30. My phone auto records all incoming and outgoing calls...the woman booked me for 1:30.Go somewhere else. I am

Everyone that attended to me from the receptionist, to the nurses, anesthesiologist, Dr. Alayo himself, were so incredibly kind and warm and made sure that i was comfortable during the entire procedure.

I was very nervous at first the staff was very polite and professional which made me feel comfortable the procedure was over before I knew it all together I was in and out within a hour and a half thanks Doc/staff...

I had an appointment at 10:45, and they had me waiting 45 minutes. Once I finally decided it was time to leave the lady behind the counter said that she was sorry it could be 2 hours of waiting. There should be no waiting for scheduled appointments. I’ve taken blood for them two weeks ago and it’s all a waste because I will not be returning for my results from their horrible service. Very disappointed.

Worst service ever.

It is useless to have an appointment. The receptionist was friendly but not helpful at all. My appointment was at 1 o’clock and after 1 hour I had not been seen. The doctor should be more considerate after I have to take time off from work. My time is just as valuable as his. Definitely will get another doctor. But if I miss an appointment he will charge me $50. I should get reimbursed for my waste of time. Such a double standard.

I have only had a consultation so far with appt for colonoscopy coming next month. I can review staff, wait time & consult although I did use this same service 5 yrs ago + found all efficient. The only reason Im 4 ☆ is the wait time of 10 30-12 00 made me have to reschedule + return again.

EXCELLENT CARE and staff..... ..starting with registration....preparing for procedure and recovery......my nurse was very SWEET and HELPFUL....Dr Erick Alayo was GREAT!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous. After colonoscopy was done on 12/19 “dr” alayo, did not have the courtesy to talk to me to provide me the result of the procedure. A week later, a personal of the surgery center where, I guess he rents the place and equipment to be able do his job for which he gets overpaid, called me to follow up with me. When I asked that person if she was fromdr’s alayo office, she told me no, that they will call me after they received lab result and should not take no more than 2 weeks. Over a month passed and no call from them so I called to inquire. Was told by the person that answered the phone since she was not a professional could not tell me anything that I need to come in the office to talk to dr alayo. Made an appointment for next day and after a half an hour waiting in the consultation room, some assistant or employee, do not know her capacity, started turning the computer on, I asked her about dr alayo whereabouts, without any other explanation that person got up from the chair and said “if you want to see dr alayo, you need to make another appointment to see him” and left the room. I had to leave and stoped by the recepción area and a kind of “rude” lady (maybe she was already alerted by the previous woman), told me that next available appointment with dr alayo was in APRIL 29, 2020. In another words, have to wait FOUR (4) months to receive results of a colonoscopy performed on me on December 20/2019As I write this review, I worried not knowing about the status or condition of my health.U N T O L E R A B l E!!I will relay this situation to the controlling agencies for their review.In the mean time, if you are in need of a gastrointestinal specialist and want to be taken care of, DO NOT GO TO SEE dr alayo because you will not be important for him or his staff.

Sent wrong blood draw to imagining center. I had reschedule my appointment at imagining center because Alayo staff did not order correct blood draw. I had to go back to his office and get correct paper work get another blood draw make another appointment at imagining centerFinally had appointment at 11 noon time and did NOT see the doctor until 2 pm. They tell you when they call to remind you of appointment if you miss it it will cost you between 50 to 150 dollars. It seem we should be allowed to charge them for our time waitingNO PARKING. I will tell my primary doctor to never EVER send me to him again refer me to someone else.

I went to this doctor explaining to him about my condition and the symptoms I was having. He didnt know what I had after I explained it to him, but he had the nerve to tell me that its all in my head. I know Im young, but dont talk to me like a kid. It felt degrading, the way he was talking to me just because he couldnt figure out what I had. I do not recommend this Gastroenterologist at all. Its too bad there is no zero star option. This is the first review I have ever posted on google. This is how sincere I am when I say, avoid this doctor.

Every time I come here they make me wait for over an hour. Today I had my appointment at 3:30 they take me in till 4:48. After waiting in the room for 10 minutes they come and let me know the Dr. just left to the hospital, but that he will come back...when asked what time, they said they didnt know. When I asked to reschedule they dont have something till Oct, 3 months from today. This is just ridiculous apparently the Dr. Is running behind because he showed up late.This is not right they should honor the appointment time they give you.

Very nice stuff just a little bit of long waiting time

The inability to honor appointment times seems to be the defining trait at this office. My procedure was scheduled at 12; however, when I arrived I was told it was moved to 2, and then wasnt seen until 3. I was told this was due to the doctor showing up late that AM, and overbooking. My follow up appointment was much of the same, being seen 1.5 hrs later. I find it ironic that there is a sign that states they have the right to refuse service for people being disrespectful or rude, yet their lack of ability to properly schedule people and honor appointment times is exactly that. Additionally, every communication included that missed appointments are subject to a $50-150 fee, but that only applies apparently to the patients. Do your business a favor - dont overbook in a vain attempt to get more money. The staff if friendly, but not enough to waste my day based on your inability to respect your patients time, which is equally as important as yours. Requesting a new referral through my provided, Tricare, because taking my money elsewhere is my right.

The doctor is great. But the wait time to see the doctor and parking is horrible. I’m still waiting to see the doctor for over 1 hour 30 minutes passed my appointment time now.Parking is only limited street parking. Trust me, like 15 people waiting with just 6 on street parking outside that you share with the other business around. So NO PARKING. I do not know why would any business rent a space without thinking about parking.

The strangest experience Ive ever been through.This was the first time trying a new doctor for this... I need to research certain types of Doctors.

Waited for over an hour to see the doctor, the specialist I had been referred to, only to find out I would be seeing a nurse practitioner for my initial visit. I expect to speak to a doctor at least on my first visit I dont expect to wait for over an hour for a scheduled appointment and I dont expect the rooms to be a hundred degrees Fahrenheit I walked out did not reschedule.

I had a Colonoscopy October 2017. The staff was professional and friendly. Very clean. I didnt meet Dr. Alayo because I was drifted off to sleep and had no problems after. They called later to check to see how I was doing. Thank you Dr. Alayo and staff!

I have never dealt with a more incompetent office, I colonoscopy was scheduled in mid March for June at 7:30am. They called the last week in May to tell me that doctor was not going to be in that morning and that I would have to wait until 1:30 pm to get it done. I had no choice but to except because my work had already made arrangements for me to take the day off. Well for days before the procedure I get a call from the office and they told me they had to cancel my appointment because the place where they scheduled my procedure didnt take my insurance and I that would have to be scheduled at another surgical center at another day. I never once met the doctor. Dont Go To This Office!!!!

One of the staff, Nicole, told me that the lab & imaging order cannot be mailed or fax.Nicole told me, it is again the law to mail or fax the order. I explained to her that we have been requesting this for 2 years now. We have always asked Dr. Erick Alayos clinic to send us a copy of the doctors lab & imaging order to schedule appointment to have these orders done. Troublesome to make a trip to Chula Vista just to pick-up the doctors lab & imaging order. How inconsiderate? I understand there might be some privacy issues but mailing the copy to the address on their file seems to be reasonable. The primary doctor does not have any problem faxing it directly to the lab or mailing the lab order copy to our home address. Only NICOLE has an issue with this.

Never got a consolation with Dr Alayo only a asst..He lined up patients like cattle for endoscopys n colonoscopys. Both showed no cancer so he wrote me a letter to see him in 5 yrs. never reviewed findings with me. I ended up hospitalized and learned that my pain and vomiting I went to him for cane from delay digestion n swollen pancreas n liver .. So discussed by his practice . Will never recommend him

They give you excellent service. Since you enter the receptionists are very friendly. They take care of your health. Once the doctor has reviewed you, begin the procedures of both endoscopy and colonoscopy, ultrasound, laboratories, to give an accurate diagnosis, and whatever immediately begins to start treatment. They have weight loss service. To treat constipation, hemorrhoids, fatty liver, gastritis everything that is related to gastroenterology. In short, all your staff have an interest in being in good health. So I can only say that I am grateful to Dr. Erick Alayo and his team and that when you need to go with him, feel with all the confidence that you are in the best hands.
