Words are not enough to express my gratitude for NAMI Chicago!! I moved to Chicago not knowing anyone and not having any support. My mental health condition was increasingly getting worse when I thankfully came across NAMI Chicago. They are a team of heroes that helped me to find a community, my voice, my advocacy, and a source of support. They are a huge part of my recovery and I am so grateful!! They are truly the best - if you, or someone you know, is struggling definitely call them!!

The helpline is the best resource for mental health in the City of Chicago. I think cell phones should just come with the helpline number already in there.

If you need real support and not just lip service, call them. They care, and help solve the issues that contribute to you feeling down.

I called asking for recommendations for a mental health hospital for an adolescent and they emailed me a list for the entire country that was hundred of pages! Seriously, if you or a loved one is dealing with mental illness to youre already overwhelmed! The lists should be broken down by state and which ones help kids or adults! Barely helpful! So disappointed!

Some of the people you call are nice, but they have this cold, distant, unfeeling worker named Jessica who wouldnt be out of place in one of those movies where the elementary school teacher is just evil with children and parents. Another one called the police on me for no reason. Im looking forward to not needing to call them anymore

Recomended housing for me that was very distasteful and oppressive yet expensive. The women who ran it was friendly with the police and fire department and roseland hospital and she tried to start a fight with me 2 on 1 in public view. After i refused to fight her and her assistant she had me arrested by chucagi police and sent to hospital. I losr my freedom and about 500 dollars to this lady. And she talk badly to my mother and niece about me when they came to pick up my property. My elderly mother was in early stages of dementia. I see why pepole just had to the streets or shelters.

So grateful to NAMI Chicago for helping me find my voice, coming out of the shadows and coming to terms with my mental health condition. In coming out I have been empowered to join forces with other wonderful, unique individuals who are living in recovery and who are striving to increase the awareness of mental health issues and to reduce stigma. Thank you NAMI Chicago for helping me to live again.
