Ive gone past this place countless times without going in, and I shouldve done it earlier. It has a Whole Foods vibe without the entire Whole Paycheck price aspect on most of their stock, and theres any number of small, local brands that they stock that Ive literally never seen anywhere else. Its not a huge place and there are drawbacks to being a coop (the deli is only open to 2pm, for example), but if youre looking to buy organic or local producers this is the place. The website offers buy-in options if youre interested in taking shares as an owner.

DO NOT EAT THE DELI FOOD, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. I ended up in the hospital today because dill pickle does not update their labels or keep track of allergen information, which is pretty much the biggest responsibility of a food handler. The tortellini pesto salad did not include nuts in the allergen warning and said it contained pine nuts (technically a seed and not a nut), when it actually had walnuts (a common allergen). I took one bite and got so so sick.

I read many great things about this place, so maybe they raised my expectation too high. There were less bulk items than I was expecting. Theres not much different in selection and pricing from Whole Foods. It is not worth the drive to go here, but if you are nearby this is great neighborhood small business! The staffs are very friendly and helpful too. I was hoping they use less packaging and plastics from the local products too, but maybe thats Chicagos health codes.

Some good stuff here but priced ridiculously long before the pandemic. Also, the baba ganoush they sell is hardly baba ganoush. Its like 90% chickpeas which arent even supposed to be in baba ganoush. Seems like a real cheap skate move by the makers of it and a poor inventory purchase by Dill Pickle Co op itself. Also read some articles about this place. Not sure they practice what they preach.

Love to support the local co-op and encourage you to do so too! You can even become a part-owner for a small one-time buy-in and enjoy discounts that will recover this cost. Having a local business like this allows you to also give input on what products you’d like to be added to the store. They also have a great composting program and bulk selection of items, including non-food bulk items like lotions, hand sanitizers, soaps. You just bring in your own refillable bottle. Every little bit of these types of acts helps the environment from plastic waste. Just a wonderful local place to support for high quality and eco-friendly products. The employees are also incredibly kind, and the check-out girl spent so long walking us through all the details of our membership and all the perks we should take advantage of. Love this place and will make it our only go-to spot!

Good products for high prices. But I don’t mind paying them because I like supporting a locally-owned business. That said, the employees are almost always rude. There are usually employees standing around talking at the register while folks wait in line (do you really want people lallygagging inside during a global pandemic?) or even outside in the cold. This place is spitting distance from my home and I prefer to go to Fresh Market in Bucktown. Better selection, better prices, and faster lines.

I really do love the community aspect of a co-op and enjoy this one in particular. It has an intimate vibe to it and has a nice amount of options that may even be difficult to find at a much larger health food store. I love that I am a le to bring my own containers to stock up in items in the bulk section. If youre into saving the planet or creating less waste this is a solid option to grocery shopping. There is a smoothie/juice bar, a salad and hot food bar along with a nice sitting area.

Products & local produce are great. I have spent a lot of $$ here. About $50 a week for 2 years?? I chose them over places like wholefoods to support them even though their prices are even more expensive. However, after my last visit I will not be coming back and i am upset enough about it to write a review ( not really a review person but going for it right now). Anyway the staff wouldnt address their issue with me (a medical issue i have been having) so after filling my basket a manager comes out and instead of listening to my circumstances (required to under ADA regulations) she just kept repeating i need you to leave over and over and wouldnt say anything else. I kept my cool and left without purchasing but it seems like if you are a manager of a place you should have a level enough head to have a peaceful conversation? I was no threat but treated like that. Sad to say bye. but peace.

I love the staff here with one exception and as an owner the fact that someone has recently commented on not-great customer service makes me concerned. All customers should be treated with respect, nor should they be made to feel that they are interrupting someone who is in a conversation with a coworker. This is unacceptable on all levels of customer service, and I think it is important to add that I speak as someone who A LOT of customer service experience. As an example, after an unpleasant interaction with my cashier, I asked another employee if I had done something wrong to cause this person to be upset with me and treat me rudely. The response I received was that this person was just that way and it was nothing personal. I appreciated this kind response and went away from the interaction feeling better because I was truly was worried I had done something wrong. Although I felt better at the time, I did experience other not-great interactions with this particular employee, leading me to conclude that, indeed, this was just the way there were.As small businesses struggle to stay open during COVID and considering the real fact that there are many many people desperate for a job like working at the Dill Pickle Coop (at one point that included me and it could well include me again at some point), I find this upsetting. (My finances have fallen far since I contributed that original amount to the idea--in its infancy--for a better grocery store in Chicago. My owner number is 88).Simply put this bad review re customer service upsets me because I experienced something along those line as well, and not just once. I find it unacceptable on a number of levels--it puts other employees in an awkward position, it is not good customer service, and it makes me wonder if I would get hired there as these are not the qualities I think are important in an employee. The Dill Pickle food Coop is not a typical place to work, nor should it be. IMO it should uphold ideas of equity foremost when hiring staff. There is no guidebook to equity. But, the reasons why I contributed money so long ago (and make no mistake I was financially struggling then too) to the idea of a better grocery store for all was for the following reasons: I believe that we should not have to choose between violating our ethics when purchasing food we need to survive.I also believe that the work environment should be a good one and reflect the values reflected in basic idea of a coop grocery store.Recently, I have been using my Link (EBT) card to not only purchase but have my groceries delivered. The people that have helped me have been AMAZING. There has no been no bias or weirdness because I am using a Link Card and everyone I have dealt with has been so helpful.I dont know whether this particular employee, whose name I dont know, has already been talked to regarding her behavior and its inappropriateness. We all make mistakes and deserve a second chance.I hope, however, it has been addressed so Dill Pickle will no longer get any bad reviews. Dill Pickle is so important to our community. It is important to me. That I contributed money to the idea of its creation, and that I am now (because of where I live) able to shop there again means that I not only want it to continue to prosper, thrive, and improve in any way necessary for its own sake, but, for my own as well. Thanks for listening. I LOVE Dill Pickle. I hope this review will be taken in the constructive manner in which it is intended.

I absolutely love this place. Logan Square had a bit of a dry spell in terms of walk-able grocery store options for some time. The Dill coming to the neighborhood was a welcome addition. The store is well stocked with so many options to choose from. While their prices on some items may be more than say Jewel or another chain store, I dont find most everyday items to be that far off and the quality is fantastic. Their prepared food options are fantastic and I love that they carry local farmers market faves (so I dont have to wait until Sunday). Staff is always friendly as well.----------------------------------------------------------Id like to add to my review, upon seeing the most recent 1-star. People with customer-facing jobs should never accept someone making them uncomfortable - it is abusive to assume they should concede to it.

My intention was to only browse, but this beautiful woman was at the juice bar, so I decided to treat myself to a juice. As expected, Jada( the beautiful spirit working working the juice bar) was very friendly, helpful and full of life. Her impression on me put me in the mood to shop. I ended up buying like $30 worth of stuff and I got to enjoy the seating area as well. For the most part some things are a bit pricey, but the experience makes up for that. I really liked this place. Live within walking distance and would comein all the time. But I recently heard that an employee was fired for speaking up about some racist remarks that a manager was making. Rather than addressing the manager in particular and their comments they chose to fire the whistleblower cause I guess their speaking up made management “uncomfortable”. What a load of sh*t. What a bunch of cowards. From now on I will only be stepping into the dill pickle to steal merchandise and use the bathroom thank you very much

The Dill pickle Co-OP has an extremely young, inexperienced and unfriendly staff. In the past I always referred people here because my clients would ask me where I purchase most of my essential oils; but today I was informed by one of the managers that Ive been permanently banned. He collected photographs of me upon check out each time I visited and accused me of HISSING to his sales clerk. Most of the team members would begin a conversation with me and Im very enthusiastic about alternative healing so Im usually in a happy mood and if anyone asks me about working with energy Im happy to share. Ive never been treated this badly before where Im told Im not allowed to make a purchase. Many times I come here bring my own bag and the staff usually forgets to hand out a wooden pickle to donate to their local coop causes. The really nice people who used to work here have permanently left and for the past few visits here I simply come here to either purchase wet organic food for my cat or essential oils. Tonight I was not given a warning to tame down my silliness rather I was treated like a criminal and not allowed to buy any oils. Im sure Ill find the oils I need on Amazon or whole foods though. Im shocked that instead of being told not to talk to his unfriendly two faced staff members I was banned here for life. I will advise anyone here not to chat with any of the employees here because dill pickle co-op is a privately owned business which means if they dont like your personality or eccentricities you can be banned without due cause. Each and every time I made a purchase the cashiers would ask me if Im a paid owner. It was beyond annoying being asked the same question repeatedly. There are so many wonderful stores In the city of Chicago that offer holistic wellness products so I strongly advise people against visiting this snobbish enterprise. If you go directly to the dill pickle co op reviews on Yelp you can see how another upset customer states the following:The employees are all pretentious hipsters -I think that statement says it all.If you love being treated like garbage then yes continue to support this snooty Co -op. On a bright poppy note i just found out most of the products they sell here are priced far more cheaply online so Im doing my little SNOOPY ON A DOG HOUSE DANCE.One last piece of information you should be aware about is most of the produce you buy here will spoil within 24 hours which is why I only bought essential oils here. I didnt enjoy spending $4 for microgreens or $3 and up for organic parsley and other vegetables that would rot in my fridge within one or two days time. This is not okay and Im almost relieved writing this review to share this information with everyone because if you look up this co-op on yelp and see their track history of poor customer service and rotting produce youll understand what this place is all about.

Best place I’ve found in the city to minimize packaging. They have the best mix of local, organic, fair trade products, vegetarian, etc. And the quality of the produce is excellent, some made me rediscover how some foods can taste when they’re not an industrial product. The organic bananas for instance where much better than the usual ones, the strawberry jam (from Canada) was to die for. I could bring my containers and get all sorts of bulk items, and they even have organic milk in consigned glass bottle (excellent taste too btw)

What I love about the Dill Pickle is that it knows that its standard for good quality food differs from that of corporate chains like Jewel...but that it also understands that the key to saving the planet is not just high standards but also accessibility. While stores like Whole Foods at best refuse to compromise any quality for the sake of accessibility... and at worst are either elitist or just plain trying to capitalize on the conscious consumer trend...the Dill Pickle focuses on finding the best quality food--local, organic, diverse, and even homemade--and even goes the extra mile to make sure that that food is reasonably priced in a way that its community members can sustain. If youre a fan of stores like Fresh Thyme or even Trader Joes... heres a store youll find is right up your alley but which approaches its choice of merchandise even more carefully and with an even stronger lean towards local than these competitors.Wrap that up with its proximity to the Blue Line and its potential to revive the corner store culture of days past, and you know where you should stop on the way home for groceries tonight.

First of all, for secular and atheist individuals relocating to a new city, check out your local grocery co-op; they have all the social aspects of a church but without any of the evangelizing. There are hands-on owner trainings and events and potlucks and board meetings.Anyway, this shop has a great selection of local, in season produce, a variety of baking goods that focus on vegan and additional needs, the freezer section is robust, the vegan dairy area is filled to overflowing with staples and great local items, bulk section is clean and easy to use.Dill Pickle Coop is a good coop, and seems to be the only coop grocery in the city. Great medicinal foods, especially the hog you can but there, yet, there are literally gang-member types on the staff. I would know this after volunteering there for two-plus years (as you might know of numerous instances of products being mislabeled as higher grade products than they were, really, rather egregiously, truth be told), before leaving, in part because I didnt want to give them more money, add to a fund that might be employed for injudicious aims. They would protest, but its just their curse they cant deal with, and, yet, its worse for other people, in all truth, but they dont see that. Very sad, and to think that I am needing, if I want access to similar foods to travel that much farther, given that I havent the opportunity to move. Its really awful, and I am sure not what the founders intended, whoever may be most responsible for how things developed.
