Very disrespectful front desk people. Had me waiting almost half an hour for the emergency room. The lady at the pharmacy (the black one) was very disrespectful & rude to this hispanic lady. I don’t know why the front desk people have rude attitude but it needs to be checked. The nurse was very sweet, SV, yeah liked her. Also, I had to wait an hour at the pharmacy to get medication??? A disgrace for a health organization. You come in for basic checkup in good health only to leave sick with the amount of stress provided by the support team who lack minimum customer service skills. The lady behind the desk in room 102 is an example of wrong people in the wrong place. Some physicians are compassionate and deserve better management than this lame organization.

I will admit this was my first time ever going to a hospital / emergency in my 29 years… so I don’t know what I’m supposed to expect but I did not feel cared for. Long story short ….. I saw 6 different doctors , never at the same time. All within 2 hours - and when in crying pain not ideal to have to talk over and over . They all asked me the same questions…. They only talked to me for 2 minutes each. The main issue was the lack of communication. It took 26 hours from the last time I saw a doctor for a doctor to see me again and give me any answers. I kept asking and asking nurses updates and they never had answers. I don’t think it was the nurses fault - they are kinda the middleman. Doctors and overall management I’m sure. The only reason I give 2 stars and not 1, is the facility it was actually very neat and clean !(Also none of the nurses had stethoscopes with them? They never checked my vitals?) and toooooo top it all off - when it was time for me to be discharged I asked if I should be informing my PCP they said yes and handed me the big folder for me to give my PCP. Wouldn’t they ask for his info and fax over?

The doctors and nurses were all really nice and helpful, but every person I talked to at reception was horrible. They were unnecessarily rude and acted like doing something as simple as making a follow-up appointment was a total hassle. They either flat out ignored me when I approached the desk, or immediately started the conversation with eye rolls and attitude. I went up and would just say, “Hi,” and the response would be “..Hi..?” I’m not someone who just terrorizes costumer service people, because I also work in that industry, but they really lack basic human decency. I have a follow-up appointment for several weeks from now, and I’m already dreading having to encounter the people at reception again due to how unfriendly and rude they were.

I think most hospitals should have good reviews! maybe name of the hospital terrifies most people, especially with so much agonizing time with the Coronavirus. From some little experience here, it seems that there are good but not recognized people until you meet them. But some got used to their work not with much emotion. I understand. You cannot please everyone. In my general theory, all hospitals should behave an active and beneficial manner to humanity because it takes into consideration the treatment of the human first of all and then the patient. At the first level, this is the foundation of the hospital. I want to thank Lee & Emily for their teamwork with a smile even if I have little health concerns. Something else I liked here, Many pretty art wall!. 💐

Amazingly disorganized.I went to Thorek for sleep studies because I wasnt feeling rested. I had a positive experience with the sleep tech twice, and then I was scheduled for a follow-up appointment with the doctor, who then proceeded to recommend a CPAP machine (which I had used successfully during the sleep studies). Four months later, after dozens of calls and multiple un-answered emails, I finally managed to see the sleep doctor in person again in order to ask that my machine finally be approved and sent to me. A month later, I am now receiving a $315 bill for the visit during which I asked the doctor to follow up on my appointment of 4 months prior. It is IMPOSSIBLE to reach people via phone, and the directory system is nonsensical. Very unprofessional and unresponsive. Stay away.

Litterally saw a doctor (dr Andrews?) walking around a waiting room with his mask around his neck during this pandemic. If he can’t take the protection of others in a waiting room seriously, how does he do with patients he’s actually serving.Seen and heard my doctor getting in yelling matches on the phone with patients. They move so slow here to. Be assured you’ll be at-least an hour past your set appointment time before you’re seen. They also don’t observe social distancing in the waiting room, chairs are only at max 3 feet apart and the room is stocked with as many chairs as they can (and filled with people). I feel safer about covid in a restaurant than I do in this hospital.

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is that my girlfriend did leave here feeling better than when we came.We had spent all day moving into our new place a few blocks from here and neither of us did a great job a drinking water and my girlfriend was suffering from dehydration. I brought her here to get helped and we had a multitude of issues. We got there and already the check in people were confused. There were two of them a trainee and a trainer. The trainee was checking us in and asked for the same information several times and the trainer was not helping very well or taking over at any point. The trainee was very kind and apologetic but it was very frustrating to deal with while my girlfriend was nearly passing out. I felt like the trainer should have stepped in.When my girlfriend was in her room I understandably wasnt allowed to come to reduce people back there during the covid 19 epidemic and I witness the most petty thing ever. I was in the lobby and an ambulance arrived but because it was the middle of the night the security guard had to buzz in the paramedics. Because all security guy was doing was playing games on his phone and watching preacher on the television he didnt notice the paramedics. The paramedics had what looked to me to be a very sick person and were obviously in a hurry and the paramedic knocked on the window to get the security guards attention. The security guard was so offended that he gave the paramedic a dirty look did the come at me thing with his hands and very slowly walked to the buzz in thing while staring at the paramedic. What a disgusting person to put his own pride above another persons life, what if those extra seconds are were what made the difference between the sick man living or dying. Is pride worth that?On top of all of that my girlfriend didnt even feel payed attention too at all while she was being taken care of. They did a IV of something to rehydrate her and then left her. She said she waited a whole hour at one point thirsty and waiting for someone to come back so she could ask for water. When she was done and ready to leave they kept telling her for a couple hours that they had to wait for test results and then they sent her away without explaining any of the test results!?Overall terrible place, worth a longer drive to another hospital. The extra drive probably is worth it with their long check in times and lack of any care and respect.

I am still in the hospital. I have NEVER left a review on google, but this is ridiculous. I was severely dehydrated, just came out of surgery, and asked about six people to help me make the air conditioning colder in my room. They totally blew me off. ER doctors and team were fantastic, and the surgeon was top notch. But it’s impossible to sleep in this heat, and to be drenched in your own sweat due to negligence is completely unacceptable. I’m hoping the customer satisfaction person who gave me a huge pep talk sees this and addresses it. And a big thanks to the engineer who finally helped me out. It took about 20 rings for the operator to answer, and multiple transfers and complaints until they finally complied. It’s a shame such great doctors are wasted here.

When she returned home she had such a horrible bruise. Absolutely DISGRACEFUL service - received surgery from Dr. Francisco Bianco this summer and immediately got complications from it. I went back in under the suspicion that my wound was infected - it was, but they said they couldnt do anything about it. It burst open the next day (my wound) while I was at work. As you can imagine, this was disgusting and embarrassing. Following this incident, I tried - in vain - to get his office on the phone for WEEKS. After the weeks turned into months, I simply gave up. It was 100% impossible to actually get his office on the phone, I tried every possible method - every number I would be connected to would either disconnect or not have an answering machine. However, this has not stopped them from sending me bills. Truly disgraceful and pathetic. Id give it zero stars if I could.

Possibly the scariest ER I have ever been to. Had a minor issue and decided to take them up on their constant no wait ER billboards I see around the neighborhood instead of going all the way downtown. ER was absolutely deserted/there was no wait, so theres that.Their staff was rude and confused. After being put in a room, despite there being no one else in the ER, we waited about half an hour while listening to a constant call over the PA system for a code blue. Eventually, we heard the nurses and ER doc figure out that there wasnt another doctor and the ER doc had to go upstairs for the code. Not a problem on our end, these things happen, but a bit scary how long it took them to figure out what was going on/who should be responding to it.Doctor eventually came in the room, didnt introduce himself in any way other than the doctor, asked me two questions, touched an open wound on my body without gloves, and then walked out of the room without another word. We hear him laughing and talking about sports with a nurse from the other side of the curtain. At this point, were already thinking of leaving but decide to talk to the doctor first. I have my friend go look for him. He comes back into the room 10 minutes later looking annoyed and literally looks at me and says what?. I asked him what was going on and he named two tests he wanted to get with no further explanation/opportunity for questions and walked out of the room without another word yet again. For background, I am a medical student, as were the two other people with me. At this point, were thinking that nothing this guy wants to do makes any sense, but are hesitant to claim we know better considering hes the doctor. Called someone else to ask for advice and ultimately decide to leave and go to an ER downtown. The nurse didnt seem surprised when we asked for paperwork to leave AMA. Im guessing its not an unusual occurrence.Waited forever downtown but everyone was nice, pleasant, and seemed to know what they were doing. None of the tests the original doctor at Thorek wanted to do were done or mentioned by any of the doctors we saw at the second hospital, so we werent the crazy ones in the first interaction. Moral of the story, trust your instincts and avoid Thorek if you can.

Google readers: I preface this by writing I know there have been multiple reviews here contrary to mine. That is why I am writing today. I am a private person, and prefer to not make public declarations. However, the care I have received has been EXEMPLARY at Thorek. I am a medical professional, and never have had to make that statement to get seen. I live in the neighborhood, and in urgent/emergent times have sat in the ED of Thorek and each time been treated CONSISTENTLY WELL. Now: the patient base Ive witnessed in the ED varies and can be quite challenging. Ive witnessed the staff handle escalating situations with tact and respect for the patient, regardless of the patients socio-economic status, sometimes with more concern for the patient than the patient has exhibited for themselves. Security and registration have then turned to me with the SAME courtesy and sense of urgency. When Ive gotten in back, the nurses, physicians and key clinical staff have all been nothing short of awesome. Theyve kept me informed at each step. One time I had an ER doc who escalated my care to the next level for a possibility I hadnt even considered. Grateful to have gotten him. Another time, I had to pick up a work excuse and follow up with my primary at Stroger, which wouldve been a painful hours-long wait. The desk attendant made a call and got me a same-day appointment with Dr. Hunniford, who changed the outcomes of my care. Now, Ive been at Northwestern and Stroger, and can say Ive been treated good, but never as well. I will update my review to include the names of those providers who have been so CONSISTENTLY professional, respectful, and THOROUGH.

Would give a 0 if i could!!! Went by ambulance, paramedics were rude and careless. This hospital is the worst i have ever been to. Everyone had an attitude and was rude, everyone seemed like they didnt know what the heck they were doing. Did absolutely nothing to help me, could have just stayed home. After i was discharged after an hour, i asked where the waiting room was they just pointed and didnt say anything! Ive never been to this place so I dont know!! After opening doors trying to find it, i sit down and get approached by a girl at the front desk asking me what im doing i said im waiting for a ride, I just got out the ER. She then gave me a snotty attitude told me to get my foot off the chair, asked how long before my ride. Acted like I couldnt sit in the waiting room. Worst experience of my life!!! Dont go here, choose a different hospital.

Dr Hunniford and nurse Delilah Flores saved my dad’s life after he had a seizure due to a new medication that he was taking. Dr Hunniford has an excellent bedside manner, he was very thorough and patient while explaining the causes of the seizure to my dad and myself. By the end of his hospital stay, my dad Antanas (Tony) considered Delilah Flores to be his angel and his friend, the Thorek hospital nurse who helped him to recover back to normal functioning. Thank you to the staff at Thorek who saved my dad’s life.

DO NOT GO HERE! I have been seeing Dr. Gordon for the past 3 years and she has been fine, but the staff here is just horrible. I had to switch doctors due to my insurance (honestly thank god I dont have to go here anymore) and I called simply to have my information faxed over to my new doctor and they said I had to do this in writing... It is 2018, I have never had some request that I do this from switching doctors in the past. When I asked for who and where I had to send this into writing I was told 2 different things by 2 different people. I also asked how I would get confirmation that they have actually sent my info they said you just have to trust us but thats the thing; I DO NOT TRUST THEM with anything. Please avoid this place at all cost for your own sanity.

There employees some of them are very rude. I only keep going there because I really like my doctor. With out use as patients they would not have a job.

My sister went through the ER and was admitted. Dr. John Hunniford and the nurses that I talked to were very comforting, professional, and showed compassion for my sister. Would go back here because of Dr. Hunniford and these nurses.

Still fighting with their billing department because my annual physical was coded incorrectly and I was charged $270. Dont ever go to this hospital. The Dr I saw was very professional and knowledgeable, but everyone else Ive dealt with there is completely clueless.

Im a person concerned with results. Thorek was clean and precise and all the employees there were kind and respectful. Which is most important to me. However, the process of setting up an appointment and resolving a clerical issue from a previous appointment had me wanting to bang my head against the wall. They need a better system, because I was spending so much time on the phone, trying to figure out who to talk to and how to get a hold of them.Basically: the hospital/doctor part was good, trying to contact them was very frustrating. Give yourself plenty of time if you need to address an issue with them.Normally, my review would then be 3 stars, but I wanted a whole other star for my MRI tech, who asked me to call her Tai (sp?). She was EXCEPTIONALLY nice, made me feel at ease, and at one point was helping with another part of the procedure just so it wouldnt take too long. She was funny and made sure I was comfortable the whole way through and didnt blink when I requested a copy of the images. If she is taking your MRI, you are in fantastic hands.

I was referred by Thorek hospital to Dr. Dees as an in network provider. After providing my insurance I was charged no copay or other payment at the conclusion of my visit. Days later a large unexpected charge was debited from my account unlike any medical transaction Ive ever experienced which submits a bill. Dr. Dees is only at Thorek one morning a week and is apparently impossible to contact otherwise. The only phone number for her is Thorek yet after talking to 8 people at Thorek and an unreturned voicemail to a Thorek Director, I learned no one there has any control over her affairs. Im stuck with a large charge to my bank account that I in now way approved. Both of these - hospital and provider are a perfect reflection of our overall health system, a complete joke.

My name is Ismar Malakaj and I just wanted to share my excellent experience that I had staying with Thorek for about 4 days and currently still occupying a room until hopefully tomorrow. I have been to numerous hospitals in the last 10 years but never encountered such friendly and professional staff than at Thorek hospital. Costumer service representatives from all the departments came to my room just to ensure I was getting the treatment and comfort that I expected. Custer service representative Lupe was exceptionally nice and even brought me her personal phone charger because I didnt have one.

My mother and my daughter are patients of Dr. Hunniford they love him so much. He is caring, thoughtful and understanding. He always makes them feel like they are his favorite. I feel comfortable knowing they are in good hands. My mothers numbers are amazing and is in the best shape she has ever been in. IF you need a doctor I highly recommend Dr. Hunniford. Him and his nurse Nancy are the best thing this hospital has going for them.

My mom fell down a set of stairs while helping me move. We came over to Thorek to get her checked out for possible stitches on her hand and a concussion check. There was no one in the waiting room when we arrived around 10:00pm. Jazzmen at reception was super nice and got my mom checked in within a few minutes. After she checked us in, she brought us right back and we were seen by a doctor immediately. They cleaned out her wound and closed it up with surgical glue. Overall, it was a really calm and quick experience for an emergency room.

Although the ER is usually empty, the service is too slow. People at the ambulatory are rude and disrespectful , we had to pay for an arm cast because they thought because we were hispanic we won’t pay. On the bright side, the specialists are friendly and fast.

I was taken to the emergency room and was held hostage when I demanded to be let go. I was fine and had no medical risks that warranted them keeping me restrained in a bed. I now have huge medical bills coming in. Absolutley a horrible experience!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stay away from this so called Hospital. Room 305 has one of the most RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL front desk receptionist/Nurse (Black Older Lady) I have ever encountered. 1) I was supposed to receive a call from them regarding preperations for my appointment the following week, which I did not get. 2) I called to reschedule and instead the receptionist/Nurse (Jared or Jerry not sure the name) was very rude. She replied with a WHAT DO YOU WANT comment. I have never been attended by such unprofessional and unfriendly person. You would think Hospitals are a place of kindness and professionalism. My advice is stay away from this Hospital and search for a better one.

I booked an appointment 2 months out with Dermatologist, Dr. Spero. I requested to the nurses to include in my appointment time both an assessment and surgery on the same day. I paid my co-pay of $60.00 just to be referred to another doctor to do the surgery on another day. Did I mention I was in the waiting room past my appointment time by an HOUR before I was even SEEN BY THE DOCTOR! Terrible experience. I need my copay refunded.

This has to be the most horrid medical facility Ive ever had the displeasure of visiting. With the exception of about 2 nurses, the staff has some of the worst bedside manner Ive ever witnessed. They behave as though caring for patients is an inconvenience rather than a requirement. And lets not forget the CNAs loudly and openly joking and bad mouthing patients in the halls. If you can help it, admit your loved ones to hospitals with more compassion and professionalism.

After a short wait in the Emergency Department, we saw a Board Certified ER physician. She is very experienced, and works in a major trauma center, as well as Thorek. She was a good listener, and provided very competent care.Im glad we went there rather than sitting in the waiting room at Northwestern for hours.

I love my doctor here, but unfortunately the staff is terrible. They are unprofessional and cannot even draw blood. Their anthesologists might need a course in phlebotomy.I came here for a simple procedure and 4 hours later left without them being skilled enough to find a vein.. 4 staff people later!Terrible!

Ended up waiting 3.5 hours for a scheduled appointment to see a doctor for all of 5 minutes. Was continuously told itd be just 20 more minutes or that I was the next person in line several times. People came and left before me. On a previous occasion the Dr. got my prescription wrong and was unreachable until my follow up appt. One month later. Awful awful awful. Ive been to planned parenthoods that were cleaner and more professional.

Hes a crook and this hospital is dirty and gross .Never go there!
