Currently here and hating it. Only here because my main hospital is too from home. I’ve encountered a combination of cold, inattentive, and cold staff. I’ve been told by separate “medical professionals” that they’re waiting on a urinalysis. Meanwhile I was never asked for a urine sample lol. Told them that, provided a sample and it’s just been sitting around untested. Current nurse keeps making sarcastic, non funny jokes despite me clearly not reacting to them. I’ve been awake for about 12 hours on an uncomfortable cot — no beds available after being told one was getting ready “soon.” At one point I was given folded sheets for a pillow. While one nurse could not provide me an actual pillow, another nurse provided one quickly with no problem.

Hospital patient care along with medical knowledge & capabilities, in general, has significantly advanced over the years. Rush is a LEADER in this ministry of medicine and care. Rush ER is TOP NOTCH 10 plus star care. Thank you to ALL the employees in their various roles for your service and ministry.Ignore all these entitled - first world brats -and their petty complaints. Boohoo. Everyone didnt smile at you. It is not a hotel or day spa! Its a hospital emergency room that exists to save lives and teach others to do the same. The security person and registrar are NOT your servants. The doctor or nurse who seemed distant or didnt smile according to your expectations, is exhausted! And again, NOT your personal servant!! Maybe you didnt really need the ER. Thats why YOU waited while people who did were seen to first. Youre here writing b.s. on google so, obviously you lived. Ungrateful brats.

I am an employee of Rush University Medical Center and I am very disturbed and disappointed in the treatment given in the E.R. I came in with chronic pain to my left rib cage. I had an xray done earlier in the day and it came back with concerning report. I went into triage and then they placed me in a separate area for Covid patients. I informed them that the issue was not Vovid related. The area had dirty stiff chairs and they were too hard to sit in. I informed the nurse and she was ignorant with a nasty attitude and told me well thats the only option for you. Never offered another option just stated that all ICU beds were full and that there was an 6 hour wait time. They never tested me for Covid mind you. Then proceeded to tell me that they were protecting themselves. . I have worked in the medical field for over 20years in diagnostic care and I have never been treated with such insulting behavior before in my life.

Please live healthily.请健康生活。Many friends told me that their parents were killed by hospitals and nursing home during the Covin 19 Pendamic. My aunt was one of the victims, so was my father. The doctor of the Rush University Medical Center told my father, Zufu Wang, that the reason my father lost his voice and had dry feet was due to his heart problem. My father told me that he did not want to have heart surgery by Facetime. I tried to see my father in person. The securities of the Rush University Medical Center forced me out of their facility. Even though police arrived to help me to visit my father, the front desk of the Rush University Medical Center rejected our request by the reason of POA that included my sister, mother, and wife. Eventually, my fathers heart was operated. However, his voice was still not recovered and his feet were dry. Furthermore, the doctor forced my father to keep taking many deadly chemical medications, which included Aspirin, etc. His left hand was injected plenty of Anesthetics. Consequently, his left hand is not able to move at all. Finally, called police to save my father from nursing home, Astoria Place and Warren Barr South Loop. All my father needs is healthy food only, bath, happy songs and sunlight. The fact proves the truth. The doctors, social workers of Rush Hospital, Astoria Place and Warren Barr South Loop threatened my father to sign contracts for taking plenty of mental medications.Rush医院, Astoria Place 和 Warren Barr South Loop疗养院的医生和社工逼阿爸签生死壮后喂食了大量精神化学药品.

Rush needs to hire better staff. I called in to see how long the wait time was since rush is famous for not caring about their patients in a timely manner and the stuck up lady over the phone said “let me check the waiting room”. Seconds later with a snobby attitude “anything else?” I answered “I’m sorry” and she responded with “anything else?”. She didn’t respond to my question and I told her why I called because I was concerned about my toddler and she gave me attitude with her response “I can’t advise you anything, one way or another you’re going to do what you want”. I didn’t know that’s how we talk to people.I just hope your toddler doesn’t feel what mine is feeling. If you don’t like your profession, GET A NEW ONE.

Have been in the waiting area since 12:30 and it is now 5pm, I brought my daughter in for feeling of passing out, Right side stomach pain, headache, nausea. My daughter is currently feeling very weak, I have made several attempts to ask someone of the wait time with no answer. I work for this hospital and outpatient is very good, but the emergency room is the worst. Don’t think I would be coming here for care anymore, even thought I work here.

I want to give this facility a negative 5 star. I was treated less than human. I went to there thinking it was a good hospital. I had a ruptured ovarian cyst with 101 degree fever. The first doctor was nice and ordered all the tests. The second doctor was a Witch. She wanted to put medication in me that I am allergic to. Told me I had to go, they needed the bed for another patient. I have primary immunodeficiency so I was concerned about my fever. I was given no pain medication and nothing for the infection that could have turned to Sepsis. I thankfully was able to get myself to Northwestern where they were kinder. But I had to go through everything all over again. Rush feels they did nothing wrong. It was appropriate. Only go here if you want to be treated less than human. This is gross negligence. The doctor never looked at my history. I called Rush many times after but was never given to anyone that could help. Now they say it was appropriate and that they did nothing wrong.

I came in with a torn Achilles and am feeling very optimistic about treatment moving forward. Will provide an update upon being seen by orthopedic staff.Highly recommend if you need emergency care.Obviously wait times are natural when going to an ER so any reviews that use that as their rating criteria should be taken with a grain of salt.

Having to go to the ER is never fun but Rush made the experience as smooth and pleasant as possible. The staff was incredible at every touch point. From the moment we walked in they were fast and attentive! Larry was the best nurse! He was professional and super personable, he was also extremely helpful with all of our questions. The doctors had us in an out and feeling much better in a matter of hours. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience considering I was in the ER.

I would give the Rush University Medical Center Emergency room a 0 but thats not an option unfortunately. I was experiencing pain in my stomach, and I went to the hospital an hour after getting the pain in my abdomen because I knew it was serious. After sitting in the lobby waiting room for 7 hours; arrival at around 10:00 PM and then being seen by a nurse at 5 AM. I visited the hospital because I was having severe abdominal pain near by reproductive system. After waiting for what I felt like was an unreasonable amount of time spent in the emergency room, I had to had a bunch tests done before having emergency surgery. I lost the ability to have children because my Fallopian tube was removed due to a torsion. In my opinion, this is malpractice. I will be pursuing a lawsuit because the staff just sat around talking to each other rather taking care of the number of sick people in the lobby waiting room. What if there was a chance to save my Fallopian tube? Well we will have to see what happens.

Waited in the “emergency” room for around 8 hours. I was in so much abdominal pain and actually left with a fever and aches in my body because of how cold and stiff the chairs were. Given super thin blankets. I think that if they have the results ready for you, they should tell you as soon as possible so you’re not stuck in a waiting room getting more sick. Heard them initially talk to someone who was #40 something in line, while I was #8, and yet they still took them in before me. Eventually left because the pain was unbearable and I was freezing. Would not consider this a hospital.

I waited over 5 hours and had to leave because I couldnt no longer sit up, plus the waiting area was like a circus, patients are about to fight. Plus while waiting they put a older guy out in his hospital gown, he didnt have shoes on, he stated that he was waiting on his sister to come and get him, but the Rush officers stated he had to leave, they stated someone gave you a bus pass. I felt so sorry for this older sick man, plus it was snowing out and they put him out in the cold in a hospital gown and socks(naked). How can hospital be so cruel to one. The ones that needed to be put I out wasnt, he was just sitting there minding his business. This just made me even more sicker, I WONT NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN, IF I CAN HELP IT.

WORST ER Ive been to. I waited around 3 hours to get the first revision and about 6 hours to be able to get a room. Illogical and unnecessary medical procedures, like being seen by a nurse first who ordered all kinds of labs with no purpose, instead of being seen by a physician that would order more accurate labs with an accurate diagnosis from the very beginning. Would not recommend this place for an emergency.

I have been waiting now for almost 7 hrs without seeing an MD or RN. Update: After seeing MD, total time of visit was 8 hrs. Medical techs asked same questions repeatedly, take vitals multiple times, etc. Terrible experience. I would suggest that unless you truly think that you are about to die, in which case take an ambulance here to get priority, make an appt with a GP or go to an immediate care clinic the following day. By the time they actually get around to seeing you, you could have been more comfortable at home and actually saw an MD faster by alternative methods (i.e. the next day). They should immediately advise you when checking in about wait time, understandably those can be subject to further delay, but at least patients can make an informed decision about what is the best course of action. An MD advised me to go to ER, but if he had known about the wait time, I am guessing there would have been different advice provided. I could have literally driven to multiple states to find an ER with shorter wait and saved time over coming here. In addition, the waiting room is uncomfortable and dirty. I am eagerly anticipating a bill for several thousand dollars to speak to an MD/PA/LPN for a few minutes and have my vitals checked 3 times by a tech. Oh and early on they provided two Tylenol, but those have worn off. They will I am sure respond to this with same message provided to others about unexpected delays, priority based upon need, etc, but if this experience is a pattern, which by other reviews it would appear to be, they should develop a better system. And importantly, they need to advise upfront of an anticipated wait of multiple hrs.Update: Once I made it past the waiting room, the staff was very professional and MD’s were very good. They apologized numerous times about the wait,

Immediately after I pay, Im told they cant do anything for me and I need to make appointment with my doctor because stroke patients have higher priority for MRI. My family member goes to Rush often due to a major illness. She has gone there for years. Overall, she is happy with the service. The staff and the system is FAR superior to the average hospital in Chicago. I am familiar with hospital operations myself. In fact, I have a personal experience with hospitals in Chicago and throughout the U.S. From Chicago to Los Angeles. I read so many complaints from people crying about waiting a few hours in the ED. These people are ignorant. This is the norm in most big city hospitals within the U.S. Their focus should be upon quality of care and outcomes as opposed to an obsession with the time it took to get back home.Modern medicine is not a fast-food business. If the medical team misses one thing, and something untoward happens to you (Meaning: if you die) all your relatives will go nuts trying to sue for negligent care. So quality care requires multiple tests, imaging, reaching a consensus on the results of those tests from various specialities and OBSERVATION of the patient (which by definition, takes time). Also, those people who insists on complaining about I waited in the waiting room with this and that condition. Invariably those complainers were seen and discharged for a condition that was NOT an emergency and could have been seen by a private MD. Therefore when these people are complaining about the wait time, let them consider that they are a part of the problem by overcrowding the ED with non-emergency conditions. This is proven by the fact that they were discharged home. For those who still want to complain about the care at Rush, I invite them to go to most of their Chicago neighborhood hospitals and I assure you, they will be happy to be seen at Rush. I know it and so do the complainers. That is why they come to Rush. Because they know that they wont get the quality of care at their local roach-parlor of a neighborhood hospital. Otherwise, they would go there.

5 stars for the doctors, 0/-1 stars for the wait time--averages out to 2/2.5 stars (going with 2 because the wait time is really just that bad). I was told it would be an hour wait--I spent 2 hours waiting in the lobby, another 3-4 waiting in the room. All in all, I had about 15 minutes of interaction with the doctor and about 6 hours waiting around in between. And by no means was the lobby a packed house. Its really unnecessary and just not worth it.

Visiting from out of state & had to go to hospital because of kidney pain. First time I went I was seen right away, but put in a room with many tests, continuing to wait for hours, only to be told that everything looked typically fine and that I could go home. 48 hours later I’m in excruciating back pain, a sign of a kidney infection, and went back to Rush. Waited about 3 hours before I finally got up and asked how long it was going to take and they said about 4 hours. Now I know that it’s first come first serve, but I was hoping that since the staff saw me shaking non stop, sweating profusely, and vomiting, they’d take me somewhere private. Nope. Oh, and while waiting to be seen, I had taken my shoes off and slipped then under my chair so I could hold myself to try to calm down the shaking. I had socks on, but when a hospital police officer walked by, he told me that I had to leave my shoes on while at the hospital, even though it was clear as day that my current position was a coping mechanism. He wasn’t nice. Eventually left to go home and labor through the pain in private. It was a bad idea, but better than waiting at rush.

I badly broke my foot and was rushed to the ER at Rush (thank goodness I ended up at one of the best orthopedic hospitals!) where I spend the next 9 hours in the ER. The only negative part was waiting almost 2 hours to finally get pain meds while I was in excruciating pain - that was absolute torture (lesson learned - next time get an ambulance) - I would have taken a star away for this, but the service after the fact was excellent. However, once I was admitted to the ER I was very impressed and had a great experience (well, given my situation!). I had my own private room, I was given proper pain meds, I was given a lot of attention - everyone was absolutely wonderful making sure I was taken care of. I want to give a personal shoutout to my PA who took care of me during the late shift - Caitlin Sloan - my gosh this girl is on top of her game and provided the absolute best care. She knew her stuff, and she went above and beyond calling the orthopedic surgeon at midnight to make sure he would see me the next day and get me into surgery that week since I was so distraught. AND she called me the next day to check in with me and see how I was doing. Absolute excellent care and service - thank you. And Dr. Kamran Hamid performed my surgery a few days ago which went well (good experience at the Gold Coast Surgery Center) - hopefully leading to a good road to recovery.
