Review №1

The details are painful to recall. I have wanted to review for years. Today I will. I traveled from Tucson to be treated by Dr McMahon because he was one of the few dentists to test for and treat osteonecrosis, associated with the biphosonates, drugs women were taking for osteoporosis. I was having bone pain, had undergone several extractions and believed I needed to seek out a dentist that get to the bottom of the pain. I researched the internet and his name came up as an oral surgeon that addressed bone pain and possible necrosis, resulting from taking these bone-saving drugs. I arrived at his office, was sedated and had the surgery he had removed bone that he said was diseased, necrotic . When I left the office to return to my motel room, take pain meds and rest a couple of days before leaving, I noticed large scooped areas of bone. I called, concerned about what I saw and asked if bone could fill in the large vacuous spaces between bone. He assured me that was not a problem. I also noticed an area that was stitched but with exposed bone. Asked about that. And returned to his office to look at it. He said the tissue would close as it healed. Several oral surgeries and many years later I still have pain. The scooped out (supposedly infected) bone never filled in and after talking to my regular dentist, I learned that the bone needed to scaffold and the way that the surgery was done made that impossible. After a time and referral to another surgeon, the bone was evened out and healed as well as the exposed bone, which had a tissue graft. This was very expensive, but more important to me is the pain, weariness and depression that resulted from this botched surgery from Dr McMahon . I was looking for a dentist to validate my pain was real and possible reasons for the bone pain. Whether or not it was was necrosis and associated with the medicine I had been taking for weak bones. He seemed to know about the condition and said that he had other patients that he had helped by removing the necrotic bone. I believe he took advantage of my vulnerable state I believed him to be a professional and honorable man Dr McMahon performed a surgery that created more problems for me. He broke his oath and caused harm. I should’ve brought this case to court, but I only wanted help and to be on the road to healing. I have forgiven him for his sloppy work. And I am still living with the results.
