This is the worst surgery that I have ever had. Its a wonder that Im not blind for what they did to me. I never saw the surgeon after he did my surgery. I went back four times. I finally changed to a different eye surgery to have th fix what South East did to my eye. Please do your due diligence and research before you even think of going to them. I will never recommend them to anyone.

I was able to get in last minute the same day, but like other reviewers, the wait time was horrendous! An hour and a half wait before I was seen. Another patient waited 2 hrs! Then Dr. McCarty, who was nice and seemed knowledgeable, said he couldn’t do anything for me. I had a viral eye infection and allergic reaction to previously prescribed drops. I was having an allergic reaction with localized swelling and itching— an oral steroid would have really helped. I ended up doing a telehealth appointment and getting what I needed. Waste of time at this practice.

During my last eye exam my eye doctor suddenly said I had cataracts and needed to have them removed. Dont cataracts take more than one year to form? So of course this diagnosis was a surprise for me, anyway they suggested Southeast Eye Specialists. Southeast Eye suggested that while removing cataracts they could correct my nearsightedness and that afterwards I would only have to use cheap readers for things closer than arms length. No more pricey eye wear, YAY! They made the surgery seem urgent and I felt rushed through the whole process due to this urgency. Now a month after the surgery- my eyesight- in my opinion- is worse. For anything closer than arms length I am nearly blind, and not only that, my nearsightedness and floaters remain. My eyes are now EXTREMELY sensitive to light- I cant even turn on my bedside lamp without reaching for sunglasses- and my eyeballs constantly feel bulging and sandblasted. Whereas before I only needed glasses mostly to drive, now I will need to wear progressive lenses ALL OF THE TIME. So much for eliminating the cost of expensive eye wear. I think this is the worst outcome of any medical procedure Ive ever had. My bad for not getting a second opinion. Please get a second opinion before you use Southeast Eye Specialists. And yes- its likely you will have hours long wait for a procedure.

UPDATE!! 07.22.2021I just spoke with Kalina, the Executive Director, and explained my concerns about up front billing for long term patients without any outstanding balance. She was pleasant, but unconcerned that the office would holding a patients money for 1-3 months while insurance was processed. She said, it doesnt matter if its $5 or $2800, we are going to collect and then refund anything paid by insurance.I advised her that claims are not processed by date of service. They are processed as they are received by the insurance carrier which means they can not know how much someone will or will not owe prior to service.I highly recommend another office if you have concerns about trying to obtain a refund after the fact.07/08/2021 - Ive been a patient of Dr. Kims since 2019. He has seen me at least every 6 weeks if not more often due to difficult to treat glaucoma.According to the office staff they had a change in their billing practices, and were now collecting co-insurance up front.Im an employee of a major health insurance company and I always know my benefits and where I am on my calendar year deductible an annual out of pocket. I pay what my EOB states is my responsibility from a health savings account.Based on a past issue getting a refund on payment made up front that was covered by insurance, and an issue where my best friend paid for cataract surgery up front but received subsequent bills, it has been my experience that this provider has serious issues in their billing department.Im going back to a prior doctor in Nashville due to the unprofessional staff conduct and bad billing/refund practices.

Initially I was seen by Dr. Mann. I felt he made me feel inferior so when I returned, I saw Dr. Previl. Matters were far worse. He spoke when he came in, then spent the balance of the time mumbling with his assistant so I was unable to determine what was going on. I was told I would then speak with a coordinator to schedule my cataract surgery. My sight, my lenses, nothing was discussed, just ushered to the next person. I was scheduled for the surgery with Dr. Kim. Arrival time was 10:20 a.m. i was taken back at 12:55. I was prepped for surgery, then taken to the procedure area. Someone came in from behind me, never introduced himself but spoke with someone else about whether he had it in him to do two more surgeries. I asked about my lense whick initially wss missing and was only told I might be a little near sighted. Ni other conversation. I was taken to recovery, then out the door. I have a streak across my vision and a halo around the lense affecting my vision. I called back and wss told thst was normal and would not schedule an appointment to examine. I was told to call the referring physician. Vision is poor because the lense is too weak plus the halo remaind. No one there will even discuss. Di not use the..

The doctors and nurses at this place gave me excellent care during and after my surgery. The nurses, Gerri and Dolly took great care of me. The anesthesiologist, Sarah was great as well as Dr Yannis. They were so kind to me and made sure I was okay. The waiting area is beautiful and relaxing. I would highly recommend SEE to people.

I am a retired Nurse Practitioner (20+ years in health care) and had been referred by my PCP and then my dermatologist after antibiotic treatment for what she couldnt be sure was a chalazion or a basal cell carcinoma on my eyelid. The derm wanted me to see opth if no improvement after a week of AB treatment but I could only get an appointment a month out with South East. I had an appointment with my pulmonologist in the AM and was scheduled to see South East in the afternoon. Unfortunately, even though I am only 60, I had been having unpredictable hyportensive episodes (B/Ps down to 60s over 40s sometimes) for about 2 years which my local cardiologistt had referred me to Vanderbilt, long before COVID 19. Unfortunately, I had an episode prior to my appointment with South East but I struggled up to their office on my cane (also at Vandy for MS Neurological work up) and they ran me off like I had leprosy. Even though I made it clear that my problems were cardiac not COVID, I was told I needed to go home. There was no offer of an ambulance, no human decency, no Good Samaritan Act, no duty for care, no questions to ascertain the problem. Just leave! I am not a legitiious person but lucky for them I didnt have a MI before I cleared their lobby and/or if this is a basal cell carcinoma or some type of cancer on my eyelid, they just delayed my care. I called and spoke to the acting office manager but I did not have the name of the girl with long, fizzy, silver or blonde hair who the receptionist called out to speak to me. She does not belong anywhere near health care in my managerial experience. No stars would be too many for the care I received there!

At the front desk , middle age , short , lady with short red hair was very impatient and rude to my 84 year old mother. The lady threw down a paper with medications. She wanted my mother who is totally blind in one eye and has limited vision in the other to tell her what medications she was still using. . I tried to explain to the lady that my mother could not see well enough to recognize anything that was written on that sheet and that was why she was there. The lady replied in a sarcastic tone “She’s not blind!” I was shocked but kept my tongue and figured she was just having a bad day. But what really bothered me was how well she treated everyone else. As I sat in the waiting while my mother was having surgery on her remaining eye, I watched in amazement. 6 to 8 patients came in with their loved ones. This same lady treated them with such kindness. Just laughing and saying nice things to them. Acted so professional but kind and patient. Those people where made to feel important. Not so for us. I felt that we were considered as trash. Not good enough. Low class. I guess my mother and I wasn’t dressed well enough. My mother’s name is Eunice Pearson. And this happened 9/16/19 at 1:10

Doctor Kim and his staff took care of my wife this summer for her cataracts. They did mine 10 days ago. Everyone did a great job and it was an easy surgery and recovery. If you are needing cataract surgery done use these folks. They are the best. My vision has exceeded my expectations.

I have been an on-going patient for years due to glaucoma and cataracts. Dr Mann was a great visionary in establishing Southeast Eye Specialists. He has been instrumental in saving the eyesight of countless by superb diagnosis and treatment. They strive to keep waiting time down, usually under 15 minutes but when it is longer, it is due to an emergency or for the care of a patient—(which is an asset to them).I have had the best care and surgery with Dr Mann and Dr Kim. I would be blind without their diagnosis, treatment and surgery.I recommend these specialists above them all.

So far not impressed. Appointment was at 2:45. Didn’t get seen until 3:40. I will speak to my family eye doctor before I allow them to do any surgery. So, after finally seeing Dr Phillips at 4PM. I feel a lot better and more comfortable with them. I can see why it took awhile. She’s thorough and answers all questions. Changing from 2 to 4 rating. Will continue to edit as we go throu this process

Amazing place. My son had contracted a horrible infection in both eyes. We are so grateful for the care by Dr. Peter Lindquist and Dr. Phillips for helping to restore his sight. The entire team there are warm and friendly. But we especially felt at ease with Dr. Lindquist - whos expertise but calm nature put both my son and I at ease. I feel blessed my son is being treated here.

Their receptionist doesnt listen. 2 explanations & she asks the same question again. Had to ask for a supervisor. Only top find out that while they appear on an approved provider list for the service I need, they dont actually do that service. Apparently a group of idiots who can do without Disabled Veterans business.

Surgery for my 1st cataract was pretty good. But the experience for 2nd eye made me feel like I was being rushed & had a less than desirable experience since I was the last patient of the day. No real explanation about the procedure.I never even saw the doctor on the 2nd one.

I saw an eye Dr in this office a year ago, I need to be seen every year for the drug I’m on and the idiot that answered the phone told me to talk to my regular Dr and that this eye dr released me back to my regular dr’s care. Idiot! I need an eye exam my regular dr can’t do! She was so rude on the phone and doesn’t understand at all how this works. Regular dr’s don’t do the kind of yearly eye exam I need. I’m displeased with the service and will not be returning to this office again. I strongly advise others to find better eye care as well if they are telling people who actually NEED yearly eye exams due to medicine that causes eye toxicity to go back to their regular Dr who told them to go get an eye exam to start with!!!
