This was my first experience at Advantage Vision Center, and it was greater than I could have ever imagined it would be! As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by the lovely staff and given clear directions of what I needed to do before my appointment started. My wait time was short and as I was given various eye tests/scans, all of the equipment being used was thoroughly sanitized in front of me. The icing on the cake was meeting Dr. Newsome. She was very warm, kind and clearly explained the findings on each of my tests. I highly recommend Advantage Vision Center! You will be in great hands!

Impressive place. Was referred to them by an urgent care Because of any eye injury I’d developed from working outdoors in a remote dusty area. Intake staff and doctor were friendly professional and thorough. Glad I went and feel lucky I was able to get in to see them so quickly. highly recommend.

I never thought getting my eyes checked would be such a great experience (even though my eyesight took a nose dive since my visit last year)! I’ve been to Advantage Vision Center twice and both times they were timely and an absolute pleasure to work with! First time patient. Appointment was 10:45 am. It’s now 11:45 am and I still haven’t seen a doc.I’m also mildly terrified by the 1985 TV in the patient room that has a VHS sticking out of the front.Had I not already paid (out of pocket) I would leave.Maybe this place is great, but the first impression seriously sucks.Update: it’s now 12 pm. Still no doc.Update 2: at 12:15, 1.5 hours after my appointment time I asked for a refund and left.

Had an appointment for my daughter on 0121/2021, had it scheduled ahead of time & when confirmed an hour prior showing up. Upon entering the office, was told automatically that the doctor want seeing any patients on the 21st or 22nd, this is without even saying Good afternoon, or any kind of welcoming to the office, then they couldnt even find my daughters info on the system although i told them I confirmed the appointment through text & even got emails for the appointment. Was told that the system was just acting up& if i wanted to reschedule??? Huh... How about NO!!!? definitely not putting my 3yr old daughter in your hands! Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND! not sure about the doctor but, the staff & the SYSTEM are not reliable. 0 Stars if i definitely could!

A hidden jewel of the city. Advantage Vision Center is a centrally located, visually appealing, and modern eye care center. I was greeted by a friendly and efficient staff. Dr. Newsome is clever, friendly and feels like a doctor not a salesperson.

The staff is friendly but professional; they are polite but prompt. There was no extended waiting period. I was seen at my apartment time! Dr. Newsome was exceptional as well. Just moved to Charlotte, NC and a neighbor recommended this vision center to get glasses. The doctor was very nice and explained every piece of equipment along the way. Always asked if I had any questions. Very nice staff and amicable. Would really recommend to anyone!

This place is so disorganized and the staff is rude and unprofessional. They genuinely look like they hate working there. Maybe that’s why I see new faces every time I come here. I heard the dr was crazy, but against all judgement I thought I’d give it a try again to support the black community. Don’t waste your time or money. She tried to charge me an absurd amount of money for tests I never asked for and I never needed. PSA: look into the tests before you get them.

From the moment I walked in, everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. The service was fast, but not rushed. Talking with Dr. Newsome felt like talking with an old friend. I highly recommend Advantage!

Wonderful friendly staff clean office

I was looking for a new eye doctor for my 16 year old daughter. I did extensive searching and read lots of reviews before making the appointment. My 16 year old daughter said the technicians were calm and patient with her. She also said Dr. Newsome was Sooo sweet to her (her choice of words, LOL). She described the Dr.s disposition as kind, gentle, and down to earth. She said the Dr. educated her in depth about her eye health and took the time to make sure my daughter understood. My daughter said she was offered a large assortment of frames and that they were all nice. She said someone (the person who picks the frames for the office) had fashion sense. (Again, her words, LOL!) Thank you ALL for such a pleasant experience!

I was sent here by my medicaid nurse for new eye care and these folks treated me like they have known me forever, very polite and concerned and they made me feel well looked after. The premises was very nice and clean and they were making sure evryone was safe and complying with Covid-19 restrictions. Love this place and the folk who work here, very greatful for them. Definitely a great choice for quality eye care.

Exam was thorough. first time ive ever had blood pressure taken at the doctors office. doctor was very personable.in take processed took way too long. front office staff seems unorganized. had to request my prescription be email to me about 3x before I actually got it because one of the receptionists doesnt know how to email.

I have been a patient of Dr. Paula Newsome for a long time.even before she moved to this office. I have no complaints. Her staff as well as she has always been professional and courteous. Never had a problem with any of her services if you have a problem with your eyes and she can not fix it. She will refer you to the proper Specialist to get the job done and corrected . In my opinion she is well knowledge in her profession.

Excellent medical care and friendly competent staff. Easy access from the interstate and major highways. Very thorough testing for diabetic related eye treatment. Dr. Newsome truly cares about the well-being of her patients.

Do not go here. The integrity is horrible. I took a pair of glasses there and although it has been a while since I was there, they no longer have my glasses. Mind you these were my own personal Prada glasses and they no longer have them. That is unacceptable!!!! It should not matter how long they had them, they were my glasses. If they did not want the glasses there, they could have called and said come and get them. Where is their INTEGRITY!!!!

A quick list in case you don’t want to read the whole review:No COVID protocols in place other than masks (no temp check, no social distancing, no COVID screening questions)Online scheduling doesn’t workThe staff gives terrible serviceThey did not ask any COVID screening questions prior to the appointment or when I got there. They also did not take any temperatures or have a socially distanced waiting room.At one point they had 15 people waiting in a very small lobby. The staff at least had masks on but that was the only COVID precaution they took.To start out they give you the option of scheduling appointments online so I did that and got two emails and a text message confirming my appointment. When I showed up they said they had no record of my appointment in their schedule AND said the doctor wasn’t even in that day or the next. They offered to reschedule my appointment, so I did, deciding to give them another chance. When I showed up for my next appointment they again had trouble finding me in their schedule but eventually did see it. I waited for 40 minutes past my appointment time before I gave up and left.While I was waiting two people left because they were running so far behind, which sometimes happens in doctors offices, but they should let people know they are running behind when they check in. Two people came in for their appointments and found out the receptionist doing confirmation calls had accidentally cancelled their appointments. And as if this place wasn’t weird enough they had a framed photo of Matt Bomer behind the front desk.If you can’t trust the front desk to handle scheduling appointments how are you supposed to trust the doctor?

Her glasses prescription didnt seem work any more. Therefore, On October 20th I made an appointment on the Advantage Vision Center website. It sent me a confirmation along with my appointment details. This past Friday (11/6) was SUPPOSED to be her appointment date. So I took a day off work to take her to the appointment. Along the way to her appointment we were slowed up by what appeared to be a construction truck cleanup. Nonetheless this road hazard was only putting us 2 to 3 mins behind schedule. Upon calling the office to let them know, I was told that THE DOCTOR WAS NOT SEEING PATIENTS AT ALL THIS FRIDAY. The receptionist asked Didnt receive an email of the schedule change?. NO, I responded. She took my daughters info and proceeded to tell me that the reason I didnt get an email was We see her in the system but dont see an appointment. I explained that I made the appointment online AND received confirmation from doing so. I also told her that we lived 2 COUNTIES AWAY and only made the appointment with them because of a referral from someone we knew. She had no answer at that point other than I could reschedule.They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and our first impression was a very BAD and lasting one. Again I wouldve given this a ZERO STAR but Google doesnt allow that so they had to be bumped up to a 1 Star in order for me to post this review

I’m very particular about having someone else touch my eyes (as I’m sure most people are) however, she’s the only optometrist that I truly trust and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. My insurance rep. submitted a complaint on my behalf because I havent received glasses prescribed on Feb 4th. Ive been waiting for them since Dec.22 2020!!!! No response received.Her staff is ABSOLUTELY NOT PATIENT FRIENDLY!!! AND I TRULY ? EVERYONES ACTIONS/RESPONSIBILITY (ALL STAFF/OWNER/DR.) to PATIENTS PRIVACY POLICY! SOME THINGS..YOU!!!!.... Not!This offices fell off so much in 15 years ripping people off its not the answer to getting ahead. I will not be bamboozled for contact exam, eye exam and a contact lens fitting $335 thats a joke! Now I understand why your old employees was stealing, oh yeah is because I no longer have Medicaid....right! My Medicaid never paid for contacts and if so you obviously wasnt telling me cuz you was still getting my Cash.

Working with this office has been nothing but a scam and full of incompetency.The prescription written is only good for contacts that are more than four times the cost of my current brand. They claim they called me, spoke with me and left a voicemail with details about my information but I never got any sort of call. So who knows who got info that potentially considered my name, insurance, and care details.They can get you in quickly but thats about the only thing that moves fast in this office.***Update***The very expensive contacts they insisted on putting me in caused so many scratches on my cornea that my new doctor looked at them and said, Oh no.

I would share 10 stars if I could. I had the best experience I’ve ever had at a Vision Center and with an Optometrist!! I’ve been to 2 separate facilities for the same issue and did not receive the same care, time and explanation then what I received at Advantage Vision Center or with Dr. Newsom! Good pre-service I mean when you are with the nurse before you the see the doctor. But then if you dont speak english, the doctor even with the translator dont answer your questions, and treat you like homeless if you dont have insurance. If you need treatment for your ilness, she doesnt take time for explain what is the best option for you, she only said I gave you these drops because other options are too expensive assumimg that you dont have money. And if you want to know about the treatment docto doesnt explain anything because she thinks that you dont have money and dont deserve to know since without insirance. Think twice before you spend your money and time here. Doctor Nessa was very humiliating, didnt provide me with adequete treatment advice, left me in crying at the end of the visit. Total discrimination snf injustice. Terrible service.

Once they left me in a room and forgot about me when my eyes were dilated. They came through as they were closing up and noticed I was still there. Awkward.

I was a new patient and needed to see someone immediately. Dr Newsome and staff were very professional, displayed kindness and compassion and were thorough when explaining tests and results. I am blessed to have found them and will gladly refer others to this practice.

I am very upset with AVC. I went to get an updated prescription and was given a temp set of contacts. I ordered a 3 month supply of contacts while I was there. After spending a week wearing the temporary contacts, I was getting very bad migraines. I have not picked up my new contacts yet so I called in to ask to cancel my contacts and get a refund because this prescription is not going to work for me. I was told by the office that once the order is placed there are no cancellations or refunds even if they are not the correct prescription and are giving me migraines. I am very, very upset with this service. I have been to a couple of other optometrists when I lived in other states and have had to cancel or change the type of contacts and have never had trouble doing so until I came here. What am I supposed to do with $300 worth of contacts that I cant wear?!?

2 months waiting on glasses and no one keeping me informed of what was going on. Kept getting the run around and no questions answered and told the lab was behind. REALLY 2 MONTHS BEHIND. Im 71. This is the most thorough eye exam Ive ever had in my life. Staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Newsome is very knowledgeable. Takes the time to walk you through and explain all aspects of your exam. Im glad my goddaughter reccomended her. She is great.
