The Royal Oak Dental folks at the Chapel Hill location continue to exceed my expectations in all aspects of their practice. They are prompt, prepared and clearly enjoy their work. The receptionists are helpful and polite. My hygienist is both skilled and friendly. And Dr. Woolf clearly is dedicated to caring for his patients. They operate as a team and offer a smooth and seamless experience from scheduling to patient care. It is also worth mentioning that they have a Wellness Plan that helps us save money on our dental needs. Excellent all around. I recommend this group to anyone looking for dental care in the Chapel Hill area.

Ive been a patient of Dr. Woolfs for the past two years. What keeps me returning isnt the fillings or the cleanings, but the friendliness and caring Dr. Woolf and his staff exude. One experience in particular sticks out in my mind as proof that Dr. Woolf truly looks out for his patients...My family was just days away from losing our dental insurance due to an unexpected job layoff. I contacted Dr. Woolfs office to explain my predicament and his receptionist went out of her way to make sure that I got in for a checkup/cleaning before our policy expired.On the very last day of our coverage, Dr. Woolf discovered that I had a cavity that needed to be filled. Rather than scheduling another appointment for said filling, Dr. Woolf completed the procedure on his own right then and there...his hygienist had left for the day and I would have understood having to come back, but he wanted to make sure my procedure would be covered!Ive recommended Royal Oak Dental to friends and family and will continue to do so because of the compassionate care these folks provide!

I came to Royal Oak Dental 3-years ago. I had unfinished crown work, infection and had developed an incredible anxiety of going to the dentist due to my previous experience elsewhere. After my first visit with Dr. Woolf and his staff, I knew this would be my dentist. He is kind, reassuring and professional. He addressed my fears, made a plan, and took great care to get my teeth/health back to 100%. Plus they do this while filing insurance and being a great price. Over the years he and his staff have been there to handle my cleanings even during COVID (they took great precautions), handled emergencies for me, and now, I have no fear and just had a great cleaning and check-up. I enjoy seeing Dr. Wolf. Every Dentist should be a Woolf.

The entire Royal Oak team has been nothing short of wonderful to me since I moved to the area. I’ll admit, I randomly chose a dentist off of Google Maps when I first arrived in Chapel Hill. I’m not one for “signs from the universe”, but there are some coincidences that make me wonder! This dental office is one of them.Not only was the Royal Oak team the first to tell me that I’m a chronic teeth grinder, but they have continued to follow up and make sure my new mouth guard is comfortable and functioning as it should. When there was a problem with the first mouth guard, they helped me out free of charge to get a second.As long as I’m in the area I have no interest in taking my dental needs anyplace else. Do yourself a favor and go to the Oak - you’ll be treated like Royalty.

My husband and I recently moved to Chapel Hill from Los Altos, CA. Back in CA, we had a wonderful dentist....and I do need regular checks and treatments so one of the first things we did when we moved was look for a dentist. Our appointments yesterday went very well - we both loved our hygienists, and then when we saw the dentist, he also was wonderful. I have some complicated things going on, and he embraced all of that and seemed to take it in stride. We have only had this one appointment so far, but we definitely plan to keep this group as our dental provider!

There are not enough words to use to describe how much I value and appreciate the care I receive from Dr. Daniel Woolf. His care and treatment of my teeth and oral health is amazing, but he doesnt stop with just providing great service. He asks questions and actually listens to your answers in helping you to make decisions about your own oral health needs and next steps. He nevers hesitates to problem solve and seek solutions for unusual or complicated situations. He has also NEVER once made me feel ashamed or embarrassed for the extremely poor health my teeth were in when I first started seeing him. Underneath the big kid exterior he sometimes seems to exude is one of the most compassionate, kind, thoughtful, funny, and intelligent people I am blessed to know. And he continues to surround himself with fellow staff members that exhibit all of those same amazing qualities. I had my cleaning done on Monday by Sean, who has replaced Melissa. I was a bit concerned because she was a wonderful hygienist and as we all know, there are good ones and not-so-good ones. But Sean explained everything he was doing, was professional, said I could ask questions, gave me some very good advice and made the visit “almost” enjoyable. (Who really enjoys going to the dentist????). After he finished, the good doctor Woolf came in to see if all was well. The doc is so upbeat, friendly and easy to talk to- what is there not to like? Last year I was going off to Portland for a vacation, and he gave me some advice on how to go across the river there- he grew up in that neighborhood. Oregon folks are SO nice so I am not surprised that I like him, and respect what he tells me about my teeth. I have only been a patient here for 2 years since I moved from Fl., but I highly recommend the practice. Staff friendly in person, friendly on the phone, listen to you and are really helpful. Dr. Woolf and his team have come through for us once again. Emergency call on a Sunday with an extremely painful abscess he was quick to call me in some meds Sunday and work me in on Monday. He and his team have made a lifelong fear of mine a lot easier to overcome, which is hard even when your in extreme pain. With straight forward options, a ton of patience and a sprinkle of humor here and there I go from fear and tears to giggle or two and crooked grin by the end (and that’s w/o any gas). I would recommend to anyone that has a fear of dentistry and fear of being judged bc of that. For a long time I thought my only choice was the expensive sedation dentistry. I’m am so very grateful to have found Dr. Woolf and his team.

I have always said that the dental hygienist is one of the most important members of a dental practice. I have left two dental practices because of brutal hygienists. I really appreciated dental assistant Seans professional manner. From his use of a blue light cancer screening tool, to his use of an ultrasonic tooth cleaning tool rather than the traditional instrument scraping was refreshing. He was careful to explain his methods, he listened to my concerns, and he was aware of my discomfort. All in all - a great experience.

I was looking for a dental practice for my mother in-law that took her insurance. After finding the good reviews online we decided to give Royal Oak Dental a try. She was very pleased with the care she received and they were very good at answering any questions we had. They did not try to push a lot of additional procedures on her that a previous dentist had. The dentist even called me after the appointment to follow up that any questions we had had been answered. I would recommend this practice.

As a new patient, I waited three months to get an appointment that fit my work schedule. I arrived early, filled out all the paperwork, gave them my insurance card, and was finally called back. Then, just as Im settling in, they say Oh, and you cant have your cleaning today unless you agree to a full set of x-rays. Excuse me?! When I MADE the appointment, I said that I would not be getting x-rays, because I had them from my last dentist (and had them transferred) and Im very anxious about additional radiation exposure due to cancer, having a ton of mammograms, etc. Sorry, we need new ones. Its very little radiation SERIOUSLY? You couldnt have figured this out THREE MONTHS AGO when I informed you that I wouldnt be having x-rays at this visit? You tell me when Im practically settled in?? That is NOT personalized care! That is CYA care - with no concern for my individual circumstances. Yes, yes, Ive heard from you how little radiation is in a single x-ray. But what if youve had 5 CT scans? And 32 mammograms? And radiation treatment? Do you know that x-ray exposure is CUMULATIVE? Does it matter to you that I said Id sign a waiver? And that Ive never had a cavity or single dental problem in my life? (And said I *would* agree to x-rays every 2 years?) NO THANKS!!! Ive found much better - and personalized - care elsewhere.

I had a great experience. I had some issues with other dentist in the past, so I had not been to the dentist in 8+ years. This dentist did a great job made me feel comfortable and did necessary dental work. I will be going back and I recommend them to anyone searching for a dentist

I had a dental emergency over the week end and Dr Woolf saw me right at 8 a.m. on Monday when they opened even without an appointment. I needed a referral to a specialist endodontist, which his office found for me in Raleigh, that was also able to see me right away. When I asked why I needed a specialist they told me an example. Would you want your general practitioner to perform your heart surgery. Good advice.

This practice deserves five stars, and more. Ive neglected my dental care for several years and went to this location for a second opinion after a poor experience with another practitioner in the area. I felt discouraged about my prospects and what it would cost me. The dental hygienist who took my x-rays and cleaned my teeth (Amy) was extraordinary. She read how nervous I felt, and went above and beyond to put me at ease. She also happily answered my questions in ways that I understood. Her patience and care were extremely comforting. I can say the same for the dentist I spoke with, who also took all the time he needed to address my concerns and discuss a treatment plan.Needless to say, I left feeling relieved and hopeful. Ive scheduled all my appointments ahead - including another cleaning - and Im so excited to have found this practice. I trust the professionals here and will most definitely be returning. I cant recommend them highly enough.

My first appointment with Royal Oak in Chapel Hill exceeded all my expectations. My hygienist Melissa was quick yet thorough, while inspiring confidence in her abilities with relatable explanations. An easy conversationalist, my time with Melissa felt like catching up with a long-time friend!Im not sure if this is standard, but the whole experience felt well thought-out. I was given sunglasses to protect my eyes from the examination light, there was a memory foam cushion as a neck rest, and Melissa even thought to apply a gel to avoid exacerbating a crack on my lips during the cleaning.When it was time for Dr. Woolf to examine my teeth, his welcoming energy and rapport with his staff brightened my visit immediately. Going beyond teeth, he gave me an honest and comprehensive assessment of my greater oral health, and brought to my attention a long-standing issue no other dentists have noticed.I am moving away from the Chapel Hill area soon, but I know that when I come back to visit in the Fall, I will be coming back to Royal Oak in Chapel Hill.

I was referred by my insurance company to Royal Oaks to have three fillings replaced. Craig Brooks at the front desk arranged everything quickly via email. I was seen the next day by Dr. Steven Wolf. He has a great chair-side manner, as his assistant Jean put it. I am a bit nervous about going to the dentist because of a prior experience. Everyone put me at ease. I was very comfortable during the procedure. A great experience from first contact through treatment!

From the initial contact with the office the staff was helpful and friendly. Upon my office visit I was greeted by friendly staff. Dr. Smith was great and had wonderful bedside manner. I didnt feel pressured into buying services like other dentist Ive been to before. Dr. Smith took his time during my exam and explained everything to me. They performed a tooth extraction in a timely manner and it was done in a gentle manner that didnt leave me in pain after the procedure like Ive experienced before. I was very happy with the cleaning done by Melissa this week. I have always taken good care of my teeth and have been to many dental hygienists, so I know when I have had a pro work on me. Melissa is a pro and Im so glad my daughter recommended I go to her, when I moved to Chapel Hill last year. I met Amy, the nice young man who oversees the business and also Dr. Smith. All were very nice and gave me a sense that I was in the exact right place for all of my dental needs. Cant say enough good about the experience! Thank you all for the great experience!

3/9/20 Ive been coming here for a couple years and would recommend them to anyone looking for an all-around exceptional family dentist. Everyone is professional, kind, warm, friendly, caring, attentive, knowledgeable, and up to date on the latest services and procedures. They feel like the best of what family should be.3/2018 I recently had a less than stellar experience with another dental group. I had some work done that left me in pain, and staff were confused about my insurance and what was covered and not covered. I decided to try Royal Oak Dental Group and was thrilled. The staff were highly professional and competent, and I appreciate the thorough and attentive consultation they provided.I just had my first root canal. Not fun, but I felt confident knowing these health care providers were doing an excellent job. They made what could have been an unpleasant experience okay. Thats saying a lot considering I was there three hours and my root canal was a bit tricky.

This was my first dental cleaning in this office. I was so impressed with the most thorough cleaning I think ive ever had for my periodontal disease! Melissa, my hygienist explained everything she was doing, which I loved! She is a great teacher! This office cares about the whole person and understands the significance mouth bacteria can have on the whole body and how it especially can affect the heart. I had done a lot of study about this, listening to cardiologists and biological dentists, so knew what to look for in a good hygienist and dentist. Dr. Woolf was also very thorough with his exam, as well! I am so glad I found this dental office and can highly recommend them to others!

Initially my spouse found Mr. Woolf, and Royal Oak Dental Chapel Hill office from an online search. As neither of us have ever had a good experience with any dentist (especially not one that blows you away with communication, service and willingness to help) and neither of us even remotely liked to go to the dentist the visit was out of necessity. For my visit which came a couple months after my partners, I too was in a dental emergency at this point. Dr. Woolf got me in right away and ensured that I was out of pain until he was able to perform the needed procedures. Each step of the visits were explained clearly, and very importantly no added services were being implemented just to increase costs. Dr. Wolf ensured that each decision I needed to make for my own tooth health was thoroughly explained and it was left for me to make my final decisions. The treatment ended up being the more difficult based on my specific issues and even though the pain afterwards was intense, the Dr and his team went above and beyond to make sure that I was doing okay and comfortable. I have never had any doctor provide his personal cell phone in order for me to get into contact with him over the weekend in the event I needed anything and that included him offering to meet in the middle to get a prescription if I needed it. Outstanding service from start to finish and as long as he is practicing, he is our new dentist. For those unsure or weary of dentists for any of the normal reasons, you arent going to come by any in my humble opinion that will outmatch Dr. Woolf.

Going to the dentist is something I dread every six months. Dr. Woolf greeted me with a smile and made me feel very comfortable. I was taken in on time and had my cleaning within an hour! The nicest dental office Ive ever been to. Did a great job with our teeth cleaning and exam. My 5 year old was a little nervous and they went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable.

I hadnt been to a dentist in maybe 6 or 7 years but received a mailing with an introductory offer and decided it was time. I could not have been more thrilled with the personal attention and time I received. Amy, the hygienist was super. Dr. Aaron also gave me more time and attention than I anticipated. When Amy, pointed out something from work a previous dentist had done a decade earlier, Dr. Aaron took 5-10 minutes and fixed it then and there. I really thought I was going to have to make another appointment and get charged separately, but it was just part of the visit. When you include all the x-rays they took as part of the package, it was just a great deal. Looking forward to going back in 6 months for cleaning and check up!

Great visit! My dental hygienist was on time and very friendly. She seemed knowledgeable about the whole process of taking new impressions for my implant. The Christmas tree in the lobby looks great!

Its a pleasure to go to the dentist when the staff greets you with enthusiasm, and treats you gently and kindly! Its a little scary to change to a new dentist, but these guys made it so easy. I love that they file the insurance claims for me, text me with reminders and generally keep in touch.

Dr Smith and his staff are always very professional. But what really sets them apart is their genuine interest in making you (the patient) feel comfortable and satisfied. They never rush anything and take time to explain what they are doing and address any concerns the patient may have.

After having a cold and then finding what i thought was a fistula, I called Dr. Woolf. Even though he was on vacation, he returned my call and prescribed an antibiotic. When I saw him, the mystery was not solved, but I was reassured that there was no abscess present at this time. We decided to take the conservative approach and if I need to see an endodontist, Dr. Woolf gave me the name of one. I just am so happy with our choice of Dr.Woolf as he is pleasant, conservative in his approach and explains his reasoning. Being a former hygienist, I am so pleased with the office and staff and recognize how well you all work as a team.Thank you again, Lois.

I had a really great experience at Royal Oak, I was terrified to go to the dentist because I had not been in a few years and Melissa and Dr. Woolf were wonderful. I went from fearing what was going to happen to being excited about moving forward with a treatment plan and having healthy teeth.

I have a rare medical condition that Royal Oak Dental went above and beyond to accommodate. They had my medical concerns written in my chart and had made special accommodations before I even arrived! I have never been treated so well. The hygienist and dentist were outstanding as well, excellent dental care, but it meant so much to me how they handled my medical concerns. I can’t recommend them enough!!
