We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Evans! After lots of uncertainty (from me) on the best way to treat my son’s cavities, Dr. Evans provided a solution that was safe, effective and efficient for our situation and my son’s age. I felt at ease the entire appointment and felt Dr. Evans treated my son as he would treat his own child.

I love the consideration of our dentists. They make sure we have all knowledge we may need of follow-up care. The part I love the most is that they remind us the kids NEED to brush their teeth daily, but at no time have they criticized us if they are not. They understand that life can be chaotic sometimes.

Always a great team. They make our children feel comfortable and the doc knows his stuff. Took my son there before for a fall to the mouth and he was great!

We love this place, so much more easier with kids then some not very gentle dentist. Definitely recommend taking kids here!!!

Very professional and knowledgeable staff. My 8 year old daughter had to have a baby tooth pulled because it was stubborn and wouldn’t fall out on its own. The dentist was amazing and made her feel at ease. He was kind and caring and we can’t thank him enough for such a job well done!

The staff were very nice and friendly. The only reason I decided to switch from this place was because they didnt accept my daughters insurance for the things she needed done and the dentist my son goes to, does.

We visited this dentist for the first time today and we loved it. My kids enjoyed the play area during our short wait and once we were called back services were rendered quickly and accurately. Everyone was nice and said hello with a smile. They were gentle with my 2 year old, kid friendly, and informed me what was going on. I will bring both of my kids back from now on.

They were amazing with my 3 year old. With this being her first vist to the dentist, they showed her all the tools they were using and explained it to her so she wasnt scared. Plus I got to go back with her. I would highly recommend.

I would highly recommend Dr. Peterson and his staff to any family seeking a pediatric dentist! My young daughter has a lengthy medical history that has, unfortunately, created various dental issues for her. Dr. Peterson and his staff have been proven to be competent, empathetic, and professional in regards to handling these medical issues and I feel very confident in their ability to care for my daughter. Five stars!

I’m never a fan of dental/orthodontic offices with televisions as though that’s the only way to keep children quiet, and stay true to those sentiments with Iowa Pediatric Dental. We visited this last week, waited 30 minutes in our car because of COVID-19 before getting called in and then each child was placed in front of a television. My four year old’s hygienist waved her hand in front of my child’s face twice laughing each time at how enthralled he was with the cartoon. For anyone, especially an establishment that specializes in working with children AND the one who placed that child right in front of a television, this was extremely rude and unprofessional. Another hygienist condescending told my daughter she’d have to watch the cartoon later, so her teeth could be cleaned. I watched as another hygienist struggled to keep her patient’s head in place because the child kept trying to watch the cartoon. First, the televisions are mounted on the wall, not the ceiling, so when patients lie back, which is 90% of their visit, it’s difficult to see the television, and obviously a small child is going to manipulate his/her head to continue watching. This doesn’t make a lot of sense to me especially in an office that specializes in treating children...unless they are expecting the children to spend considerable amounts of time in the chair sitting up waiting for care. I wasn’t too impressed by my first visit there :/ On a positive, the treatment was prompt once seated, and the hygienist who worked on my 6 year old son was very kind and patient.

I took my two sons - aged 4 and 1.5 here today. My oldest was very cooperative and they were able to get through his apt without any issues. My youngest was not so cooperative, and was crying and fighting the exam. The entire staff was wonderful with both of my children and both left happy and with a finished exam! I’m not even dreading the next apt in 6 months! Can’t send enough praises.

My children will never go to any other dentist while this place is open. My children actually enjoy going to the dentist now. They dont fight me or argue anymore because they know they get to watch TV they get a toy token at the end. This place truly knows how to handle children.My oldest has issues with people touching they truly know how to handle the situation

We are new to this area of iowa. We searched for a pediatric dentist in the area and were guided to Iowa Ped Dental. My 5 yr old daughter who is quite shy, felt so comfortable with the practice that she went back to be seen, all by herself! I couldnt believe it. We can wait to take our other children for a visit. The front desk staff here absolutely great! Very polite place, kept really clean and I felt safe visiting during this covid outbreak. Thanks guys for all your help with my little ones mouth. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

My children had a wonderful experience with Dr. Peterson and his staff. They all did a great job explaining every step to us and the kids what was happening during the visit. They were understanding of my sons fears of the dentist and took such great care of both of our children!

When I told my daughter that she had a dentist appointment tomorrow, she started jumping up and down with excitement! I never enjoyed the dentist when I was a kid. From. The play area, to the TVs above the dental chairs, to the amazing staff, every aspect of the visit is child friendly. Thank you for providing a place like this for Cedar Rapids!!

I have a three year old son who struggles significantly with anxiety. He doesn’t like to go to Sunday school by himself, let alone a sterile dentist’s office. I brought him and two of my other kids to the Iowa Pediatric Dental Center and they had a blast. From the miniature play area that adjoins to the waiting room, to awarding the kids with a coin to choose a prize from the gum ball machine (that contains toy prizes and not teeth-corroding candies), these folks have thought it all through.My anxious three year old shocked me a few days later when he asked when we could go back to the dentist! If you are making your kids suffer through the bland and insipid experience offered by most dental offices, you really should give these guys a try. I’m certainly glad I did.

Always friendly and great with the kids. Wonderful at addressing any concerns. A great place to take your children. I wish they accepted all insurances though, such as Medicaid not only Hawki.

I have three children that have now been to this office and each experience was absolutely wonderful. My oldest son is 13 and loved the environment. My 11 year old son is scared of the dentist and pretty much any doctor, well he allowed them to take x-rays, clean his teeth, and even allowed them to use the fluoride on his teeth. (It did help that they allowed his best friend to come back to the room with him at the time though) Now my youngest is only 10 months and they even saw her so that she would start getting use to them looking in her mouth when she was there. These guys are absolutely wonderful and wont take my kids anywhere else.

The gaming counsel and tablet never seem to be working when we are here. The kids do enjoy the play area after they get past the fact the electronics dont work. The staff is great with letting the kids pick out their fun animal toothbrush. They also enjoy the sunglasses when they are in the chair. However last time we went for a check up, they didnt have sunglasses so they were a little disappointed when they couldnt have them. I still have mixed emotions on the doctor himself. Its an ok place. It has created a good experience for the most part. Not sure we will continue to go here in the future. Time will tell.

The staff and service is ALWAYS top notch. They’re extraordinarily kind and gracious there. The facility is perfect for children.

Iowa Pediatric Dental is always a great experience for our family. They have a fun playhouse in the waiting area, the hygienists do a fantastic job of cleaning the teeth while using fun and kid-orientated language, the dentist is thorough and explains everything clearly and in detail, plus the kids get a prize at the end. Everyone there is professional yet so personal and friendly.

They are amazing!! Very detailed in explaining the procedure process! I would recommend them! I personally wish they did work on adults because I feel comfortable with how well they work with children. I’ve had a few bad experiences at dentists, ex: Life Point dental, Gentle Dental.... now those are some places I would never recommend to anyone, very unprofessional and unethical

I was so impressed with the Iowa Pediatric Dental Center! My son had his first appointment here on 6/29/16. He loved it! The staff is so welcoming. They worked wonderfully with my son and explained everything in a way that he would understand. I am so happy with choosing the IPDC!

Had a very bad experience with this company. Another company recommended them to me to take my son to; especially since they work specifically with children. If I could give them NO stars I would also do that but unable to. About 2-3 months ago I took my son in for a check up with them to get an idea of what they were going to do about the cavity that he had. My son just turned 4 at the beginning of the year which is when we first went to the them for a check up. He is scared of the dentist because of a previous experience he had with getting tooth cleaning. When he went in to see the dentist at this company for the first time, the nurse had a hard time opening my sons mouth since he was scared to give him an X-ray. Knowing this they just sent my son in to see the dentist. We saw the Dentist and he had a hard time opening his mouth also(my son was screaming and crying while I had to hold him down). Knowing this was an issue the dentist made a plan of what he was going to do to get the cavity cleaned out and had me set up an appointment. I got one set up and it was a couple months out when I was able to take him in(which was today when I took him in).When I took him in he was showing again that he was scared but one of the nurses were helpful with my son and showing him what the tools were and what they did. My son of course was still very scared and was still crying. When the dentist came in I held my son down on the chair just like the previous visit while he had to pry my sons mouth open. So while he was doing work on his mouth my son was trying to close his mouth and was biting him because his fingers were in my sons mouth. The dentist was getting irritated and was kind of raising his voice to him at this time. Then the dentist put something in my sons mouth to help keep his mouth opened so he would not get bit. It worked for a little bit till my son some how maneuvered it around to the point he ended up biting the dentist finger again that was in his mouth. Which at this point the dentist then threw the tool that he was holding to fix his mouth and said I cant do this... as he walked out the door. Then he sent in his receptionist to tell me that he is done and that I will need to take my son somewhere else and see if the job is finished.... So not only did he not fix my sons tooth, but he probably made my son more scared than he originally was.... He also acted very unprofessional towards myself and my child. I would not recommend for anyone to go to this dentist.

Just...WOW! TODAY was our first visit to this Dentist. I have 4 kids ranging from 2-10 years old. They have a play area for the kids with books and games and a family bathroom. They Let you come back with the kids during visits. All the staff were very friendly and professional. I could not reccomend this place enough.

Our previous dentist retired and he referred us to here. The Staff are great with my son. I leave feeling that he got great care and personal attention. Very kid friendly atmosphere.

Dr. Don is very patient and kind. We tried 4 times to get my 5 year olds tooth pulled because she has dental anxiety and through the whole thing he was fantastic!

My son had a very traumatic experience a year and a half ago at our prev dentist that has caused him to be fearful ever since. We brought him and my younger son for cleanings and they did great. He needed a filling and had a difficult time with the first dentist he saw, that I can understand caused the clinic to be hesitant with him, however his next appointment was another cleaning and he did fantastic during it. Dr Petersen spoke to my son after the cleaning and prepared him for his next apt to get more work done and asked him to give him a chance and my son agreed. The day of his apt, my son was escorted to a back room where he laid flat back for 40 minutes, surrounded by the tools and getting more nervous by the minute, while insurance and paperwork were figured out (which should have been discussed prior to). When it was finally time to begin, he became nervous and overwhelmed but calmed down after 10 minutes and was ready to begin. A woman I had never seen before spoke to us then (in front of my son) that Dr Petersen had already begun a procedure for another child and recommended 2 other facilities for my child to go to for his care and that the Dr suggested my son be sedated to complete the work due to his agitation and inability to handle the procedure. I questioned this as my son was now calm and he continued to say he would do good, was ready and apologized for being nervous, but we were told the Dr was already in a procedure as our apt time had passed. I explained that majority of the apt was spent on their end with insurance and the woman agreed that it was true. She said that she would discuss with Dr Petersen my issues and that she would contact me shortly, that same day, but I did not receive a call. I’m disappointed that Dr. Petersen asked my son to give him a chance but did not give him a chance in return. He did not once, in our entire apt time, come in to say hello or check on my son or discuss anything with me. As we left, he was sitting in his office, NOT in another procedure. I’m also frustrated that they discussed all of this in front of my son, who already was upset and felt terrible for being nervous and felt that it was all his fault, which it was NOT. I really liked this place at first but I am extremely dissatisfied, frustrated and disappointed at how they treated my child.

My kids have been seeing Dr. Peterson for 6 years now and have always recieved top notch care. The staff is kind, friendly, positive, thorough, and patient, especially with my youngest who has special needs! Highly recommend!

04/02/2021- Stacy, the receptionist at the Cedar Rapids office is kind, confident, and very knowledgeable when it comes to insurance coverage!! The staff, yet again, passed the bar when it comes to their superior service!My son gets very scared even being in the room with Doctor beds/Dentist chairs and was so scared he didnt feel safe sitting in the chair for a tooth cleaning. Dr. Petersons assistant worked so well with my son. She looked at and brushed his teeth while he was standing up! We tried to get a full mouth scan but the machine scared my little guy as well and it was quite alright. Dr. Peterson made him feel comfortabe enough to sit in the chair for him to just look. The second appointment we had was with the same assistant and she made so much progress with him, making the XRAY machine fun and Dr. Peterson was able to put sealant of his teeth. We moved an hour and a half away but still drive back for our checkups!It has been a couple years now since Levi first experienced what a visit to Dr. Petersons clinic was like and to this day, everytime we walk through the doors we are welcomed, cared for, and treated like family. The last time we were there for a teethcleaning/check up, Levi sat back in the dental chair in the main room like a professional while the wonderful woman who cleaned his teeth showed him her tools and made him feel so comfortable he could have fallen asleep while she did a very thorough job cleaning his teeth and taught him good dental hygiene!!This last visit, on 2/3/2021, the staff were phenomenal! The receptionist, dental hygienist, and doc! We live out of town and drive down and were in town early for another appt and the receptionist was able to get us in an hour early, right after lunch! I have so many more great things to say and was almost done but lost it by accident and am going to getback on when i can and write more. The Iowa Pediatric Dental Center genuinely care about their patients and their patients whole family.

The entire staff is wonderful. This was our first time as new patients, and Im very glad we were referred by to Iowa Pediatric. I only wish I have come here sooner.

Very positive experience. My four year old needed some extra work done on a tooth. This type of work would have my eight year old in a panic. My four year old didnt even squirm, it was as if she wasnt even aware anything odd was going on, I was SHOCKED. The Dr. and assistant had everything organized, explained a few things as they were working, talked to her in kid lingo and we were done within 16 minutes. It felt much longer to me as I was nervous about how she would react but ultimately this changed my own opinion about the dentist office.

Wonderful, kids all enjoy their appointments even my 2yr enjoys his trips to the dentist.

Everyone in the office was very nice I just feel that once we get back in the rooms there is a lot of sit time waiting on the doctor then he is there for 2 min and just moves on to the next kid while you wait in his office...

I think the facility needs better ways to try and calm toddlers during procedures instead of holding them down by hand.

Very friendly staff! I Brought all 3 kiddos in at once which is a chore within itself but it was a quick in and out visit and the kiddos loved the play area!

My girls have high anxiety about dentist but this office has amazing emplyees that make you feel right at home. They are very helpful and make it a good experience!!!

I brought my son in last june(2015) and the ladies at the front desk were not as helpful and friendly i was expecting. my son was 2 and it was his FIRST dental visit ever and i told them that but when the dentist came in, he just cleaned my sons teeth and then was done. he wasnt as efficient nor as friendly as i thought either. Then when his visit was over, they told me well our scheduler is booked up back to back at the moment so they said they would give me a call once they had openings but here it is JUNE 2016 and still havent gotten a phone call, letter nor postacrd in the mail. only reason i am doing 1 star is because they wont let me pst with NO stars. VERY unhappy and will be going somewhere else.
