This place is the best in the area, I came here for my rehab stay to get back home. The Assisted director of nurses Alison was who greeted me when I first got there. Helping me adjust to being in a facility as I did not want to be here. She continued to check on me throughout my stay. All the floor staff were so nice and helpful, food was good, therapy was all about getting me better so I could return home.

The staff at Cottonwood are amazing! So caring and helpful. My father in law is currently at the facility and had been for the last month. The facility is always so clean (we went daily to visit) and the staff is so pleasant. The rooms are a great size and the recreation area is awesome. The food was ok he says. The staff is what makes the facility shine!

I have taken care of 4 family members during the hospice walk over the last few years. Of the three Austin/Cedar Park facilities I have used, Cottonwood is the worst. The staff are polite, but extremely short-handed. They tell me about how administrators have cut their hours to where they cant get a bathroom break/lunch break without disrupting another workers load. I was told this by 3 different people. There are only two Nurse Practitioners for the whole facility. One is very good and attentive. The other just stares at you with an exhausted look on her face.My parent eloped from the facility. Walked out unnoticed. This was not immediately charted and I was not called! Parent made it out to busy road. Staff tried to down play this. I could go on with the negatives like the monotonous food, the extreme lack of communication, but you get the idea.Positives: the beleaguered staff is friendly even if they take a long time to get there. The facility is clean. The social worker and activities director are polite. Close location to the hospital and doctors.I would not recommend this facility at this time.

I called to set up a tour and everyone was so friendly and informative..One of the nurses there I believe her name was Jennifer she was AWESOME she put my mind at ease about the care my mom would be receiving and I made mind up right then this was the place for her. Thanks to your team you guys really know your stuff...I looked at about 5 places and did not receive the attention I got here..thanks again I know my mom will be in good hands!!

The facility is well kept and the rehab team is like no other. The new young speech therapist goes above and beyond to provide services to my grandfather who was recently admitted to the facility. I would highly recommend Cottonwood!!

I have read the reviews of Cottonwood Creek and have to disagree with anything lower than a 4 star. We take our grandparents or parents in my case to a facility because we cant take care of them. I think sometimes people have the misconception that the nursing home and its staff are miracle workers. The staff try to get her to activities and to the dining room so she can socialize-something she didnt have at home-she was secluded. I know that my mother is sick and can no longer live at home. Do I think there is a facility on earth that is perfect, no, but the people at Cottonwood from the Administrator, department managers to the floor staff all do the best they can. Of course there are some bad apples, check out your own work place-is everyone on top of their game everyday? Probably not. All I know is that if you let these people know you have an issue, they jump on it. They wont know you have an issue if you dont say something. My experience has been that all my issues have been address satisfactorily and I am happy to have my mother at Cottonwood Creek. It is a relief to know that someone is looking out for her when I cant be there.S. Johnson

The rehab team at this facility is outstanding. They have taken such great care of my grandmother and I’m so appreciative for them. Anytime I visit I feel like they treat me with respect and explain her progress in a way that I can easily understand. I’m glad we chose this facility.

Please be aware, Dangerous staffing issues, my mother was here for a short stay 20 days, she needed assistance standing and walking, she also needed assistance going to the restroom, she was often wet through her pants because they were so understaffed , no one responded to call lights for long periods of time, we the family needed to go and look for assistance. We the family was there 90 percent of the time and saw this, 2 times while we were there her meals were not delivered, she has Dementia and would have not known if we had not been there. If your family member or friend needs assistance I would not recommend this rehab. / nursing home. I was told that they just changed Management in January however this experience was with the New Management - Please be aware - .

Our dad endured 21 days at this facility. My sister had to go each day to make sure he received his meals and was receiving the care he needed. I would seriously reconsider placing a loved one at this facility. The management is great but when they are not present (i.e. nights & weekends) the level of care goes downhill.

My father stayed @ this facility for almost two weeks, it was the worst experience that hes ever experienced in his life and he was in the Vietnam War. My father actually got sicker bring in this facility, the staff always chilling and chatting. The facility smells very bad. A female resident was reporting that she got hit upside the head by another Resident. no one addressed the issue. So the resident continue to talk to her fellow roommates and tell them what happened , that situation should have been addressed but wasnt. I WOULDNT LEAVE MY DOG AT THIS Facility...... That should feel like home... U know the residents $ enough to live there. And the food! !! Health inspection needed ASAP.

I would NOT recommend putting your loved one in this facility. When my mothers health started to decline, they did the bare minimum to care for her. Once she was unable to care for herself, she was overlooked and the staff was not attentive to her at all. They did a very poor job of communicating anything regarding her care. They are always short staffed and the facility has a perpetual urine smell. Extremely unpleasant.

A year ago, this facility was a mess! The building itself is relatively new. Beautifully decorated with spacious rooms and a centrally located outdoor courtyard. It’s in a great location; right at the center of upscale suburban Cedar Park. What wasn’t to love? Well, there was plenty. I remember walking into Cottonwood about 2 years ago, and the first thing I noticed was the odor. It “smelled like a nursing home.” Seriously. The potent stench of urine was overwhelming. Equally, if not more offensive, were the furrowed brows of unhappy employees, at every turn. No one greeted me when I walked in the door, no one helped me find the room I was looking for, and the residents all looked dirty, unkempt and disheveled. It was everything that makes you fear getting old. After spending the better part of an afternoon with my father-in-law who was there for Rehab, I ran home to my teenage son, grabbed him stiffly by the collar, looked him straight in the eye, and said, “don’t you ever leave me in a nursing home!!” There was a negative vibe that’s hard to describe, and even harder to forget. They say first impressions last, and how true that’s been!As part of my work, I am inside what I call, “The New Cottonwood,” 3-5 hours/week. In the 5 months since my job has taken me inside their building, old memories have died hard. Despite the fact that everything that Id come to believe about Cottonwood, seemed to no longer be true, I just didn’t “notice” all the changes, until one day, recently, a friend was asking me for recommendations on a rehab facility in Cedar Park for her father. And that’s when I heard myself; “Cottonwood Creek is really great.” I. Seriously. Endorsed. Cottonwood. And, really, they’ve earned it! That’s when it really hit me; the gravity of what the place has become. Cottonwood went from being a realllly dumpy nursing home, full of really dumpy-looking residents and extra dumpy-looking employees, to a clean, efficient, professional, top-notch skilled nursing facility that makes you reconsider the inherent perils of “getting old.” The grouchy, unhelpful employees I’d come to associate with Cottonwood, have all been replaced with the cheerful faces of polite, service-oriented professionals, who welcome you at the door, and are willing and eager to treat visitors like guests. The long term care wing of the building feels like home, and the rehab wing feels and looks and behaves like a legitimate place where people come weak and leave strong. The residents are clean and engaged; they look like your grandparents and their visitors, your neighbors. It’s a totally different place, with a whole new vibe. Their administrative team is responsive, cohesive, energetic and resident-centered...they’ve poured their time, sweat and heart into all this change, and it shows. Two years ago, I was ashamed to say my father in law was a resident of Cottonwood. Today, that name no longer carries the outdated negative connotation it once did. I would, and I have, referred my own, to come under Cottonwood’s care. It is my sincere hope that more people, like me, who have experienced “The New Cottonwood,” will share what they’ve seen and set the record straight, because Cottonwood really has changed. Help re-build the reputation of this awesome facility, as a place where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and affection, in the competent hands of a clinical team that is second to none.

My wife, Martha, was recently in Cottonwood. When she entered the facility she could not walk, stand, sit or turn over in her bed. I was told by Nigel, the physical therapist, that she would some day walk out of the facility. On Dec 6th...she walked out! We want to express our gratitudeto all the people at Cottonwood...especially Lori, Sandra, Ricky, Teresa, Elizabeth, Donnie, Zak and my friend Nigel. Martha & James C.

Staff and nursing personal professional and caring. The problem lies in their food service. Residents are kept waiting for meals for long periods of time. They have little to do except meals. No milk with oatmeal often no sweetner no salt eventhough their diet says ok often no butter . Who is in charge of this nightmare. Last night waiting an hour for a tray in dining room everyone had tray. Ask kitchen and was told medicaid ate in diningroom Medicare ate in their rooms. Segregating by how they are paid is this even legal! Unhappy and this is only day five. Nursing staff pulled away from their important jobs to hunt down a cartoon of milk . Shame on management!

My might as well call her my mother in law has been there for a couple years now, and I have to agree with the most of the comments from others . The staff seems like they try but severly under staffed. And the food is always late , people being feed at 6 pm for people their age upsets me. And the lack of attention during supper ( because of lack of staffing I assume) really bothers me. One of us family members feel like we need to be there for meals. But they are clean and try to work with the family. Still look else where if you can afford it.

Hello my name is Douglas Smith, I was at Cottonwood Creek for only about 2 weeks give or take, for a rehab stay. I have nothing but good to say about this place. I of course did not want to come to a nursing home but this is one that I would return to if I needed to be placed or place a family member. Rachel sold this building very well to me in the hospital, then I got to the building meeting everyone else she had spoken about Heather, Mary, and Alison. this team is the team I want to have taking care of me.Thank you to everyone at Cottonwood Creek for all your help in my return back home.
