Really good customer service. Ruben was fantastic, very knowledgeable. We were looking for a foundation that we didnt know had been discontinued, and he did his best to find us the best alternative, wich turned out to be better than the one we were looking for.

Very happy with this Ulta! The store carries a lot of cruelty free options for curly hair. Melissa at the salon is a hair goddess! I came in with a botched balayage (basically just streaky highlights) done at a high end salon the day before, and she fixed me up beautifully within 2 hours and for half the cost! They use a conditioning bleach which saved my hair from being damaged after double bleaching. She personally blended a beautiful tone that complements my skin and natural color. She explained exactly how she was painting my hair, recommended really awesome products for all of my hair concerns, and was just a delightful woman! The entire staff was really nice and helped me as a walk-in when I was in dire need of a correction! Thank you Melissa!

I went to Ulta Beauty today 12/20/20 with my sister to buy my mom so perfume for Christmas. I’m mixed with African American and Puerto Rican and today I experienced something unacceptable Me and my sister where racially picked out or racially profiled. The lady that checked us in the store called the security on us because she thought we were stealing perfume. When the security got to the store she pointed us out. This is wrong and I will not stand for this Ulta you need to make sure that you train your team to never judge a book by it’s cover. We are not a threat we are here just like you. OUR LIVES MATTER

HORRIBLE customer service. Also, if you don’t give them your phone number they will not let you return the item. They can’t “look it up” there’s a receipt for that... the girl at the cashier was disgusting.

My experience at Ulta in Carlsbad. Terrible customer service and no filter. I am coming in after a hards days work to return a purchase I made online by accident as well purchase what I really needed prior to my vacation which is in the same week. As I come in with my return purchase I was kindly waiting to get the attention of the customer rep or the manager that was working that night so I can explain my situation. When not even a min later someone acknowledges me and said “ do you need help” at which some random person came up from behind me and started explaining there problem. I am just standing there waiting for them to say something to me. Mind you there were two customer service reps one being the lead or manager staring and listing to this random person. After listening to her problem. I decided to interject and say I have a question. At which she tells me to head over to the register to return my item. After returning my item I when ahead to do my purchases I still need for my vacation. When a random women comes up to me and asks me for some product to which I have no knowledge of and explained I am not a sales rep I am a medical assistant who office uniform is all black. She finally noticed my mask of where I work and moves on. Once I was done finding what I needed I headed over to the register to be rung up. When I hear a conversation between the girls laughing amongst them selfs saying “ Hey so and so I can so see you out in the back taking vitals and taking blood pressure” hahaha see should add that to our service here. Hahahaha”. I was shocked it seem like that customer complain of our interaction so the girls saw it fit to have a laugh. As soon as they saw me. These girls where quite and all of a sudden professional. I came to this place knowing they had more to offer in items. These girls have no filter and no respect for the working class who wear scrub uniforms. This my first experience at this location i till never set a foot I. This place again.

Dominique has done my hair numerous times and I feel like after seeing her for over a year now it was the best time to leave her a review. Sometimes you can go to a hairstylist a few times and have it be great the first time but then off the subsequent visits. Dom is so consistent she always does an amazing job on my hair. I never feel rushed out of the door and I always feel truly listened to and heard when describing my vision. She always makes a point to tell me exactly what to expect if I come in with a photo of hair color and how she can get me that result but for the health of my hair (hello brunette to heavy blonde highlights) it may take more than one visit. I appreciate that she cares about the health of my hair and her ability to communicate all of the things shes doing and why. I love that she revisits my hair cut after shes dried my hair and really takes care to be sure everything looks perfect. Shes easy to talk to and I have never been able to catch her in what seems like a bad day, shes always really positive and kind. I highly recommend her, she also is amazing at physically walking with me into the aisles to point out the products so I can achieve the look at home and care for my hair. 10/10 recommend!

I love Ulta because on the occasion that you get something that doesnt work, they kindly accept the return. So I shop with confidence and have made many great discoveries. It is fun and confidence boosting when all goes well and not finacially painful it doesnt.

Great place to get products, but employees dont seem to know enough about the products, what, or where they are located. I had management tell me they didnt know about a product they carry and couldnt find it, even though it was in the store and Ive purchased it before. Additionally, the line takes forever to checkout. They have employees, including management who stand there staring at the long line while one person is expected to checkout everyone.

If you have highlights and love your hair please avoid this ulta at all cost. If oceanside tells you that they are full just wait. These people have no idea what they are doing.

Descent selection, and usually some specials but the biggest challenge is getting assistance. They have brand specific reps that arent much help outside of their respective brands, and the regular Ulta floor staff are in short supply. I have come here on many occasions and the limited staff situation is pretty consistent. If you know what you want, and have a general idea of the location within the store, youre good to go. But if you are looking for ideas, inspiration and direction, Sephora might be a better store for you.

Extremely non qualified salon staff. Please do not get your highlights or any other expensive hair coloring services done at this location. Very rude and inconsiderate manager. Almost felt racism in the tone and message she was trying to convey. Used lipsticks are put back once returned at this location even with the “ulta’s famous herpes” case in news. I have gotten cold sore with their lipsticks in the past. They definitely do put back used makeup. Their “designer” hair stylist is most inexperienced staff they hire for cheap. Partial highlights will still cost you around $190 plus tax. They lie to you if they say they will charge $160-165. Then they will give you same hair color that you came in with. When you will complain, they will blame it on your previously colored dark hair color. It’s all your fault, they will spend 5 hrs coloring your hair and give you nothing.thats the longest time I have spent in all of my life at a salon. I went in with some decent highlights from previously done spa grade salon and ended up with dark hair with no highlights.please save your self respect and dignity also your $200 bucks and don’t go for any hair care services. It’s a big dent in the pocket and very gimmicky staff.

Every time I shop at this Ulta, I have to prepare myself for a fight at the register. After being rung up, Im always asked for my phone number. When I say I dont have a card, they immediately scan a card to sign me up without asking. And it takes multiple times of saying no for them to finally stop pushing me to sign up. I said I didnt want it the first time, so please stop trying to convince me I do want it. I shop at this location because its convenient and has all my essential basics, but I dread going there because of the interaction at the register.

The people here are very nice and makes it like youre with family.

This location isnt always stocked well, it gets very busy. Parking can be tough, but... Hey there are bathrooms that are always clean inside. Thats awesome when one is shopping!

Julie, the General Manager, is one of the worst retail employees Ive ever encountered. Not only is she incompetent and rude, she runs the store poorly, and has no training or leadership skills. She must be a miserable person to exude such a crappy attitude to all that she meets. Her staff isnt much better since they are hard to find for such a large Ulta. Shop at another location, or even better -- SEPHORA. I guarantee youll receive better customer service and people who are willing to help you with your returns!

I only come here because there’s not a full-size Sephora nearby. Every time I go in the girls at the counter are extremely rude to me! It’s exhausting and I absolutely dread the experience because I know what it will be like. There seems to be several reviews similar to this and nothing is being done to re-train their employees to improve customer service.

I used to purchase shampoo and conditioner here, but I have moved on to more natural products.

Im offended that they offered me a credit card, gave me a line of credit and then pulled it. My credit is excellent. This affects my credit. Very unprofessional. Bait and switch.

I came here with the expectations of buying many products, I have always gone to Ulta but never been to the one in Carlsbad. As soon as I walked in to the store I got the most rudest stares. I was looking for pallets, I couldnt find one so I had asked an employee. Their response was we dont even have anything like that, you can shop online I said ok... and went to search for one by myself. As I was looking for pallets, I noticed how they were all helping out this other girl, I felt disgusted on how they can treat someone like that. I think the employees should check themselves before I do. Lol. horrible shop, never going there again. Unless they get new employees who actually respect their customers.

Never will I go into this location again. I asked on of the women on the floor to help me pick a shade of foundation,she acted super inconvienced. Apparently I inturupted her gossipping with a felow employee. Picked a shade off the shelf and said this should work,and went right back to her important conversation.

This store is always out of stock of items posted in the flyer. I guess you have to get there early on the day the sales begin. Its so frustrating to park and then find out your item (s) is not available. I could online shop but I like to test the products.
