Regency is a very professional facility. The entire staff was very pleasant to work with and the level of acute rehabilitation was top notch. Social services, nursing staff, and the shift caregivers treated our relative with plenty of respect and wonderful attention. The facility handled 2 isolated Covid incidents as well as could be expected. We recommend that you give this facility a chance to help your loved one recover from any incident..

I spent approximately 2 months in rehab and I have got to say the PT and OT department are fantastic. Nursing care was pretty good except for one nurse who got reported basically by several patients not doing her job. I had an issue with one CNA who I spoke to Amy about, she is in charge of the entire facility. She is a very bubbly type personality, very friendly, beautiful smile, but when it comes down to business she takes care of it. So I’m saying if any resident happens to have an issue don’t be afraid to let her know. She needs to be able to take care of these problems and she will do it. As far as the nursing staff, I have to say they were pretty good. There are too many names to put here but I do have a favorite nurse and believe me there are no words in the dictionary that describe how I feel about her. Her name is Ty, not sure of the spelling,. She was wonderful and went above and beyond her job. along with that I have favorite CNA’s. Courtney, Jennifer, Rose, Kayla, Bridget, Sassy. There is one CNA who has many people fooled, but I have seen her try to throw her coworkers under the bus, and once tried that with me. She works the midnight shift and sometimes she is on afternoons. I don’t have to name her because everyone knows who I’m talking about. Trust me if you’re ever at this facility and if she is still working there, you will know exactly who it is. If anything is done to you, contact Amy and she will take care of it. All in all, I had a good experience there and I am sure you will do just as long as you report the people that are not doing their patient care the way they should. Don’t be afraid to contact Amy. Trust me she will take care of it. If you were thinking about a rehab facility to go to, Regency of Canton would be a good place.

This is the worst place anyone could ever place a loved one. They are disrespectful, rude to patients and family members. The night shift is the worst. It doesnt matter what shift they take payients bed sode phones away, knowing these patients cant reach them. The nurses will give the patients their pain meds anytime they feel like it. So that means up to 2 hours if not longer. The director came out and actually called my mom a lier, about an aide being rough with her while giving her a shower and wheeling her down to her with just a towel and washcloth on her. My mom just became Paralyzed from the waste down. This place is horrible. Please do not place a loved one here.

I was at Regency of Canton for 2 weeks, I am a disabled RN and Paramedic with most of my career being in EMS or RN in ER’a. I did work for a year in a nursing home/rehab facility, so my comments come from 30 years as an RN!I had 5 nurses who treated me well, but I know one as Sandra and another as Shonda, because none of the others told me their name, introduced themselves only as my nurse! Everyone should always introduce themselves by name and title!!CENA’S, I had 3 who told me their name and title! I would like to mention thatSassy is amazing never sighed, rolled her eyes, or make me feel like I was a burden in her busy day! Always addressed my needs quickly, always pleasant even when you could tell she was busy. Not once did I wait for an hour and a half on the day shift after requesting 2 full glasses of ice, I can’t say this about other shifts!Bridgette was also very pleasant, up beat and hard working like Sassy! I felt I was well cared for by both, and comfortable enough with them to ask for help with cleaning and adding a protective cream to a very raw spot in an embarrassing area, I didn’t feel I could ask anyone else because I would have been made to feel that I was asking too much.Thank You Sassy and Bridgette!!PT and OT were great! Everyone very pleasant, but I definitely got more out of my time with David and Mark than I did with anyone else! Having been a RN/CM for a insurance company that handled Medicare advantage plans, I knew Medicare would cut my stay short based on progress in PT! So, David and Mark were willing to push me like I requested so I would get as much as I could out of PT and OT as I could before I was sent home! They worked with me, and pushed me as hard as they could, but safely and cautiously! They both challenged me and I always accept a challenge, they were very supportive of me as well! Also, after PT/OT I would need my ice cooler filled with ice and water, and assistance getting the wrap around my knee! Mark and David always took the time to get ice to fill the cooler and help me get it wrapped on leg, before leaving my room. Others who I had for OT, didn’t do that, they would say,” I will let them know you need help in here.”Besides the care staff, the receptionist was always pleasant, the building appeared clean, and The food tasted really good most of the time!Overall my stay there was really good!

This place doesn’t deserve any stars, and if someone reading this is being told their loved one is going there for short term rehab from the hospital I would stop that immediately. So Regency had the nerve to call the state and reported us of elderly abuse. These people are insane. We are at a better facility and seein improvements. My Mom became a permanent resident 1 1/2 years ago. Choosing her final residency was the hardest thing my sister and I had to. After looking at tons of facilities, Regency was by far the cleanest, and most friendly, make you feel like home atmosphere in the area. Amy, the administrator, promptly responded to any issues that did come up. She went over and above to make sure that Mom was comfortable and well taken care of. During the final week of my Moms life, the staff went out of their way to make our final time an easier transition. I would like to thank the staff for their attention and care.

The incompetence is unbelievable. My brother is a diabetic and was housed there because of a bone infection. They consistently gave him meals loaded with carbs. Trays were delivered with coconut cream pie and chocolate cake. From the meal choices he would select appropriate options. There were days that none of the selections were on his tray. Instead meals of noodles and white rice were delivered. He was discharged home over two weeks ago. We are still waiting for a wheelchair delivery. He has fallen and hurt his shoulder. The person we dealt with is now on vacation!!!! The doctor has been unable to order the wheelchair, because the Regency order is still in effect.

My father passed away hours after being sent to the ER from Regency of Canton from the lack of care he received at this facility. Amy Swalwell the administrator ignored my emails multiple times and blocked my calls when our family was mourning the loss of our middle aged father. From my experience with Amy, she presents as an incompetent individual with extremely unprofessional mannerisms. This is the person that is supposed to hold employees accountable. Horrible management. They refused family visitations, the LPN said the door to my fathers room was shut in on him all day due to protocol. I can only imagine the pain and agony my father endured his final days yelling out for help. When medical records were requested, Amys response was: your dads dead, you no longer have right to the records, then later hung up in my face. No compassion, no condolences, no respect. All we wanted was answers as to what occurred prior to my fathers death. Until this day we have so many unanswered questions. This place does not deserve a fraction of a star. My dad is gone forever. PLEASE STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. I WOULD NEVER SEND A LOVED ONE TO THIS FACILITY. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY FAMILIES EXPERIENCE.

Let me start off by saying that this is not the worst facility like other reviewers believe it is. My mother has been to other much worse facilities than Regency of Canton. Now, is it the best? No. But it is certainly not the worst.Pros: Very nice, well kept facility. Doesnt have the hospital feel that most other facilities have. Like most other reviews have mentioned there is no smell. Most of the staff that Ive had interactions with have been pleasant and usually do arrive to patients in a timely manner. The staff doesnt talk down to the residents (in fact Ive heard that people have been removed from the premises for such behavior) and often seem more willing to work with them.Cons: There are times when the staff appears to be standing around talking rather than attending to patients. There are occasions where medicine is not delivered on time. The staff can be stretched thin and can take longer to accomplish things.

This place does not even deserve one star. The director of the facility is a terrible person. If someone like her is running a facility and is in charge of the staff taking care of your loved one u can expect them to get the worst care possible. My father passed away because of their care takers and we did not receive a call or anything from anyone! And when we called to get answers Amy the director simply says I didn’t know I was suppose to call you back after we left her a message stating we’d like her to call us back. Days went by and no call we called to speak directly to her, she was cold, insensitive, no remorse, no sorrow ,did not express any sorrow nothing of any type but we wanted answers so we demanded we get some answers. She hung up in our face multiple times and at one point stopped answering our calls. This women is very cold. I really hope regency of canton reevaluates all of their staff.

When your loved can no longer stay at home it’s a difficult adjustment but Canton Regency has welcomed us like part of the family and are very accommodating. As it has been stated the facility is very clean. My mother received excellent care from most of the nurses and aides. Some of the nurses just like to stand around and talk while the over worked aides do everything. I chose this facility because my mother had been here prior to her stroke in July and received excellent care, but what a difference a year can make. I was there Sunday and it was 7 oclock and several patients that had been in the dinning room since 5:30 had not received their little hard hamburger. I must say my mothers meals were severed in a timely manner, but I am there every day and that makes a difference. The administration team and the social workers are absolutely no help if you need them. They are about $$$ and not patient advocates. I am highly disappointed, a big beautiful building, but no care for the elderly. Now last year I was singing their praises also, but at that time my mother was not in the condition she is now and could do for herself.... If you need a nice clean building that has no odors go with this place, but if you need a social worker and administrators who will fight for you...RUN....Many lies were placed in my mothers folder about her condition which caused the insurance to believe there is no hope for her which is absolutely not true. My mothers treatment at Regency has made me want to be an advocate for the elderly, because there surely isnt any paid social workers fighting for them...

We had my dad there for rehab. He is diabetic and kept getting someone else’s meals. He would try to tell someone and they would say they only have hot dogs left for him to eat. Constantly bringing him meals with desserts, bread and rice. He would eat what he knew he could, but then be hungry bc he couldn’t eat half of the items on his tray. The day of his release, admin comes in 10 minutes before I arrive to ask when his ride will be there because they have another patient who needs his bed. Well, I get there and the nurse hasn’t even started his discharge paperwork. She was very pleasant and the only good thing at that place. She told us that woman couldn’t come in there and tell him that, that he had until midnight that night to vacate the room. It was 11AM.Then they release him and say a wheelchair will be delivered to his home. Well, we are now 10 days from his release and still no wheelchair. Apparently it’s an insurance authorization issue. Why wouldn’t you make sure someone who shouldn’t be bearing weight on their foot had proper means to live at home?? Wouldn’t you make sure that was done before you release someone? Now, I am stuck waiting for a call from someone to tell me what the next step is. Nothing is Regency’s fault. They always have someone else to point the blame to.If you care about your loved ones, I suggest looking into somewhere else.

My husband was at this facility for 100 days. From the Doctors, Nurses, Aides, Physical Therapists, Activity Directors, Dietary Servers and Administrative Staff, they did their best to help him progress toward his goals. Everyone went out of their way to make the stay a pleasant and positive experience. The only suggestions to offer is the need for additional staffing in the dining area. With as many as 20 people to serve at one sitting, at the most, there were only 2 people available. At times, the wait was more than 20-30 minutes. Because the servers also worked in the kitchen with food preparation, it was hard for them to manage both. It seemed the dinner time required more help. All in all, I would and have highly recommended Regency at Canton.

My mom has been a resident here for 1 year now. My sister and I had to make the hardest decision to place our mother long term and we visited and researched many facilities. The appearance of this place is awesome.. our mother has CHF (congestive heart failure) elderly dementia and also stage 4 kidney failure. She has lost the ability to be able to use the restroom and needs to be diapered and can not walk unassisted she is 87 years old. Our complaints we have is the staff with the exception of a few. The care given by the Drs and PA’s they have on staff here is awful they DO NOT like if the family members are involved which we are daily. My mother has been complaining about a pain on her right side of her kidney for several weeks and she has mentioned it to her nurse who will remain nameless on numerous occasions and nothing was done until yesterday only because my mom called me upset and crying because she was in pain. I proceeded to call the nurse who has an attitude with me because of my interference and was able to get an X-ray ordered. I assumed the X-ray would have been on her kidney area and it was only on her chest to rule out Phenomena or bronchitis. When I asked the nurse how does that show us what is causing the pain on her right side I was told it doesn’t but her blood work from TWO weeks ago show nothing on her kidneys well my reply was that was two weeks ago could she please put a note in their book for the Dr or PA to call me. I received an upsetting phone call this morning from my mothers PA who was rude and unprofessional. She proceeded to tell me that she examined my mother and feels it’s a muscle strain and ordered a Lancane patch to help with pain. My question how do you get a muscle strain from sitting in a wheel chair? No response to that she goes right into wanting to take my mother off her anxiety medication that she has been on for over 25 years and we have tried this before and it is harmful to do this for my mother noted by Physcologist on staff there just a month ago but she wouldn’t listen to me when I said no and was insisting on it being done. She proceeded to tell me that I have to tell my mom that she needs to take matters into her own hands and call the nurse with any issues versus me and my mother does do that but she is Ignored by the nurse so that is why I am called. This nurse has taken it upon herself to say my mother is depressed to me, my sister, and to other staff members which is not true. I know when my mom is depressed and she is not. I REFUSE to have my mothers drugs changed or her to be drugged more because a nurse doesn’t want to do her job the way she should. I am my mothers voice I am my mothers power of attorney for medical. I was told today that I have to allow the facility to do what is best for my mom and not interfere this will NOT be happening. How do you trust a facility when your issues aren’t taken care of? When I was trying to talk with the PA regarding my mom she didn’t want to listen and was rude and hung up on me. Professional I think not! I fired the Dr and PA today and a new team of Drs and PA will be with her starting tomorrow. My sister and I will continue to fight for our mothers well being because we are the ones that know her. I have complained many times about this nurse to the administration and they tell you it will be taken care of but it is never done. If you are considering this facility and are like us who care and love your family member my advise to you is make your presence known and fight every day for your loved one because there are only a few caretakers here that truly care about your family member and not just their paycheck. It saddens me that instead of encouraging and appreciating the love and support of family they make you feel bad for doing so. All I want is for my mother to be able to live out the remainder of her days in peace and receive the care she deserves and as her daughters the staff needs to address us with respect because when all is said and done we are the ones paying them by having our loved one there.

My mother was recently here for nearly two weeks after being in the hopsital for an infection in her lower back that affected her mobility to the point where she needs a wheelchair most of the time, but despite the center knowing this, her nurses insisted on her moving around on her own. This was an annoyance at best and the cause of her having accidents that couldve been avoided at worst. While their attitudes were decent enough, they were often lazy as many others here have reported, sometimes going up to 2-3 hours without answering her call button which was crucial with how often she needed meds, the restroom, and the dressing on her wound changed; sometimes they didnt even want to empty her catheter bag and there was a period of two days where her dressing remained unchanged even though its meant to be changed twice a day. The techs were the rude ones with bad attitudes towards her whenever they interacted with her. In terms of the food, the staff was quick to stop giving her a menu to allow her to choose what she wanted which is also crucial seeing that my mother is a diabetic (even though no matter what, she could barely eat it because of how poor it was). My family made a few complaints about what was happening, but they didnt seem to want to listen, which leads me to what scares me the most: one day, my mother asked the head nurse how many patients she was taking care of, to which she not only answered 17, but said that she sometimes has 26-27 patients in her care a day. According to state law, one nurse should not see over 8 patients in a morning shift, 12 in an afternoon shift, and 15 in a night shift. This means that not only does this center engage in all the behavior Ive mention, but are also engaging in illegal practices that I fear may affect any other patients currently staying there. I would hate for this to happen to other patients and their families.EDITED AND UPDATED OCTOBER 9, 2020REALLY???? The attending doctors words were your being abused were not sending you backA word to the wise the state notifies all nursing homes the day before they intend on being there so they double up on staff get a good report then send the help home . Regency Waterford is no better. 2 1/2 years later my severe wounds closed I went from quadriplegic to showing improvementI dont care where you live go to village of east harbor in chesterfield yoloved ones are worth it

They may look great on paper (Medicare Ratings) but their hands on care is terrible. We had previously used Regency at Bluffs and LOVED it. Regency at Canton closer to home and we ASSUMED the care would be as good. Average call light response is 15 to 30 mins. Nurses and aides are sitting at nursing station but wont come if not their patient. Care Conference was a joke, they a lot only 20 mins, not enough time to discuss issues wed been having. Items of concern were not actually resolved (No bath in 10 days and assistive devices not provided) until 2 & 3 days post conference. The only good element we can say is that facility extremely clean.

Two stars is for OVERALL facility. TEN stars for the therapists who worked with my family member. Outside of that, I haven’t much to say that’s positive. Although the facility appears neat, clean and very nice esthetically, the important things are lacking GREATLY.We came straight from the hospital post open heart bypass surgery. The plan was to stay a week or so to get the extra care needed. Be VERY cautious if choosing this facility. The food was something a cardiac patient should never eat. Pork, American cheese, white bread, pancakes, donuts, soda, cakes, cheesy hash browns etc... was served...post heart surgery I wouldn’t expect this “diet”. The nurses response- “we’re a little more liberal here”.Then the medications... two doses of a particular med on the list upon release from the hospital was MISSED because the facility didn’t “have that one”. I went to get it myself from home on night two and hand delivered it to the nurses. On night three- received a call that they “couldn’t find it” which means TWO MORE DOSES were missed that day. I was livid and prepared to drive there to show them where the previous nurse put the bottle. After 10 minutes on hold- they found it.The wound wasn’t cleaned but once per day when the surgeon recommended 2-3 times per day.The beds are very narrow and thinner like gym mat quality. The tv was small up on the wall and no one could explain how to use the cable properly. The therapists were the best part and I give them all the credit in keeping spirits up. (Although an elderly patient was sleeping during her exercises!)Now upon release... the total stay was 5 days and could take no more. They never sent home the medication that we provided to them from our personal home. After recently having issues refilling it they say today it is a “LOST” the medication. After speaking with the insurance company they said it would have to be paid out of pocket because of this and that facility is most likely keeping it to give to other patients. This is an OUTRAGE. They WILL be audited for these type of actions. It is a heart rhythm medication that costs over $400 to fill. I have no proof but there was also a small battery powered fan we came in with that disappeared sometime during the 5 day stay.Lastly, the front desk staff is rude and unprofessional. The time she tried to be nice was not genuine at all and I would give this facility one star if it weren’t for the therapist and semi cleanliness of the place. Looks can be deceivingHope this helps I know it’s difficult finding a place. God Bless and be well

This is the worst facility I have EVER been to. The only good thing I have to say is that it is clean and doesnt smell bad. My mom is here for rehab following a knee replacement. She spent five days here before they bothered to start any rehab. Need help? dont hit your call light because no one will come for hours if at all. They allowed my mother who is at an increased fall risk due to surgery to walk to the bathroom alone. Once there she couldnt get up and pulled the emergency cord. NO ONE CAME!! she had to use a walker to bang on the door to get someones attention to come help her, then the girl who came to help yelled at her for crying. They dont bring the pain medicine in a timey fashion so by the time they get it to you, you are in so much pain you can hardly stand it. Patients sit in urine soaked beds for hours. No body makes rounds on the rooms checking on patients. Today they gave my mom her diabetes medication, then forgot to bring her breakfast. The CNAs complain to the patient about their own issues and say they dont want to take help the patients due to said issues. One day my mom got herself out of the bathroom, and no one would come help her into bed, so her room mates mother had to help her. Then today after her first trip out of there she was in a lot of pain, and called for help and no one would come bring her any pain meds. She had to call me to call them and tell them to go help her. When I called the nurse and told her to get her crap together and take better care of my mom, she hung up on me. I am so very disappointed in this place. I wish I could bring her home to care for her, but she hasnt learned to do stairs yet. I plan on calling the BBB and the Michigan department of human services to report the horrible care. PLEASE if someone you care about needs to go to a facility, do not take them here. You will spend all your time worrying about if your loved one is one the floor somewhere. If I could have given no stars or negative stars I would have. They dont deserve even one.
