I love this clinic. Everyone’s so nice and comforting. Ms. Carolyn Cross is who I see. The first time I visited I cried because she was so sweet, attentive, and professional. I told her thank you because other places I’d been I didn’t feel as comfortable to express all of my concerns. I truly felt like she cared and listened to me. And, the other staff members throughout the establishment as well. I felt blessed.

Compassionate is not what Id say about my experience. The facility was super clean and nice. Thats a plus. The surgeon performed beautifully. Most everyone was great and made you feel at ease. One exception were 2 of the operative nurses who callously scared me when talking about a fearful thing to males regarding a catheter I needed during surgery. I guess they thought that was funny??? Wrong. Not funny.Yes, I know that procedure exists, but not something you want to hear right before you go under general anesthesia. Very unprofessional. This surgeon was surprisingly absent after the surgery, and also absent from my 2 week postop appointment. Hmmm. Why? A reason that I couldnt verify was given, which sounded legitimate, but not so convincing. The facilities are pretty confusing too. Not much help is given finding your way around town to various locations leading up to the surgery, or even to the initial consultation. Poorly marked buildings make you wonder if youll find your way to where you need to be on time.We were not from here, although we just moved here for work, so folks seem to think you should already know all about where things are located. We simply dont know those things. They did send me a request for review, but I guess I missed the window and couldnt send them my review privately. At least we have a public forum here to make known the good and the bad.Since the operation went well, I have to say they did a good job, but for a Christian based set of core values, compassion mustve slipped their mind on bedside manners, and at least an inkling of indication that they cared about you more than another dish in the dishwasher. In summary, where is the justification for a $40k+ bill? Thank God, my insurance company brought them back down to planet earth where they belong. I do have to say they are better than Baylor/Scott-and-White which are the other guys, but not that much better.

Staff and doctors were great. Wait time for my outpatient surgery was not bad. I was taken back as soon as I was finished checking in. The nurses were very professional and polite, they took the time to listen to my concerns, and assisted accordingly. All the doctors were polite and understanding and made me feel at ease. I would definitely choose St. Joseph for any future procedures I may need to have.

I was waiting area of the ER from 10:15 am - 3:00 pm.They took my temperature and blood pressure immediately and then did a EKG which was good. Then they put me in the waiting room. I noticed several people had been called back that arrived after me. I went to the desk and asked about that and I was told those people had minor issues and they needed to get them in and out quickly. This was a Thursday. I was sent to the ER by my regular physician (should have been a red flag to me which they confirmed) I had went to do blood work and chest x-ray late Wednesday afternoon. I had 104 fever at the doctor’s office. Around 1:30 I was brought to an area where a nurse asked some questions about how I was feeling. I explained my situation and she told the person at the desk I needed to get in the room ASAP. They took me back to waiting area. After about 15 minutes they came and got me to do blood work and a x-ray. I then was sent back to waiting area. After some time the nurse that had done the blood work came and got me and and took me to a room. Which was right at 3:00. The doctor came in around 3:30 and told me I had pneumonia with Sepsis. They wanted to keep me. By 6:45 no room. I told them I was leaving and I would follow up with my doctor the next day. They would not give me medication since I was leaving without their approval.I sat in that waiting room feeling very ill and was sent there by my doctor who had called them prior to my arrival and still was not seen until 3:00. I assume if more people had come in that they thought they could get in and out of there I would be still sitting there? Why are these people coming to the ER for a hurt hand or ankle (that I saw limping around, when it was convenient) when they could go see a doctor instead wasting the ER time for people who really need it.

In one word, UNACCEPTABLE ! The next time I am faced with an acute medical emergency, I will NOT go to CHI/St. Joseph’s ER, I will instead go to the squirrels nest in my backyard as I’m 100% confident that I will receive far superior medical treatment and care from those 2 flying squirrels than I received from a single staff member of St. Joes ER team, they were unqualified, unprofessional, unpleasant and void of any empathy whatsoever. And a further insult is that now I have to pay $ for that wasted, humiliating trip ! But in all fairness, the Somerville EMS transport crew did a great job.

To long a wait in the waiting area and not all people were keeping their masks on. I understand that high priority cases come first , such as heart attacks and wreaks but just because someone called an ambulance to come to the hospital for a cold or their child needing to be checked for Covid-19 before being allowed in school ( the child was asymptotic, it was a policy in negative tests for family members after someone in the family was positive) is NOT an EMERGENCY, it was something that could have been done at a Doctors office, they just didn’t want to take off work during the week. The nursing staff did what they could, but in the end it was the longest wait time I’ve ever experienced .

Dr. Thomas Salzer took AMAZING care of her, from the initial appointment/assessment to the procedure itself at St. Josephs, he was thorough, compassionate, highly competent, and our baby girl is so much healthier and happier. I had problems galore with this visit. When I went to the Physicians Center to see the doctor I was told he wasnt there anymore, they said he was back at his old location in College Station, they didnt tell me that in any of the notices that I received, I only see him once every six months so I didnt have any way of knowing he had been moved again. The lady also wrote a phone number on a note pad page and gave it to me while telling me to call that number when I got there. I went to the College Station location, parked, and called the number she had given me, it was a wrong number. The place where he had been was just a walking so I went in there and was told he wasnt located there, he was next door. I went over there and called the number posted there, it was close to the number I had been given, to get someone to let me in which I think is stupid, then I didnt have to do the paperwork your notices said I would have to do and my eleven oclock appointment turned into an eleven thirty appointment, I had managed to make it before eleven so I got to just sit there for over a half hour. I realize the late time, on the appointment, probably wasnt the doctors fault, things happen that could take him extra time, it was just a bad experience overall.

This is strictly a review regarding the Patient Portal for current patients and the Chi St Jo very poor web presence. It seems again that finding the patient portal to log in and send a message to my doctor has been changing and more difficult to locate. Who is doing the web info for St. Jo. They need to get better! Then to top it all of I went to the main St. Jo page and it indicated St. Jo has locations in South Houston. I found that interesting so clicked on it and it brought up that the locations were Madisonville, Bryan...etc. All locations were located NW of Houston, TX by at least 85 miles! Now why would the web designers indicate that St. Jo has locations in South Houston when there are NO locations in South Houston or even near there???!! Otherwise, I am very satisfied with my St. Jo doctors and facilities. But the web presence is poor!

Ok First visit to St Joes was in 12/01/02 I was hit head on by a drunk driver. Broke left leg both wrist . Life flighted me to ER When I was in X-RAY there were two technicians taking E-rays of my body when they slammed the camera door on my face and broke my nose! Orthopedic surgeon did surgery on my left leg that night. A few days later had to have surgery on my nose. In the hospital for 19 days recovering from surgery. Next visit was 5-7-2021 another wreck. Broken right femur fractured pelvic ,fractured two lower vertebrae ,fractured 4 ribs on right side also. 10 days. In hospital 13 days in rehab. Next visit was on 9-23-2021 for a routine colonoscopy. With all my medical records on file at St Joe’s about all fractured bones and metal hardware in me body. Yesterday 9-24-2021 I started having severe pain in my Right groin, pelvic area and all around my right femur where surgery was performed, and my muscles in right hip and thigh hurt so bad I can hardly walk with a walker .Please note that up until yesterday, after the colonoscopy, I was ambulatory WITHOUT a walker.I don’t have any pain medication. It will be Monday before I can see a Dr. Now today is 9-25-2021. I have not received any follow up call to see how I tolerated the procedure.I am concerned that my obturator nerve to my right hip and thigh was damaged due to repositioning during the procedure.

Unfortunately I had a very negative experience today with surgery. My experience included one bedside lacking doctor, a bully nurse supervisor, and a rude, unprofessional nurse. There was no dignity care given to me today, until I met an Angel nurse, name Lori Pope. She treated me with respect and care. She went beyond her call of duty to help me get through a traumatic surgery. Bonnie, in nuclear medicine was also outstanding.I had a horrible view of this hospital till I was cared for by her. Doctors should not yell to patients, “Don’t talk!”Nursing supervisors should not try to intimidate patients, by threatening to cancel surgery due to apprehension , and nurses should not refuse to help others nurses when asked! Insulting patients because they are frightened, is not part of a nurses oath. Again, thank you Lori Pope for being my hero and actually caring for all me, and not just the broken part.

He went in on Wednesday evening for surgery and I’m applaud at the level of care he received. They didn’t attend to his need for new sheets which had blood on them, water, emptying of his equipment in the room and cardboard food for which he had no choice of ordering. They put him in the very back room of the hall without attention to his needs. Very important to note: This place was very dirty. The bathrooms were disgusting. The trash was overflowing and there was an adult diaper and a catheter. I was shocked by how dirty it was and after everything, I thought I had better let others know as this is not a safe environment at all!!One er doctor can not reasonably service an er. That is insane. They sure have lots and lots of nurses but one er doctor? I hope I never have a life threatening issue. The urgent care across the street moved so I decided at least I can go to the er and spend way too much money and get bloodwork and labs done. After 4 hours, my labs being in but dr busy I didnt get my results. I think a nurse can certainly say ok this is what the labs read so its not what you suspected so your going to need to really speak to the dr. Plus, they cant access your records so they say. Thats ridiculous. I have a st. Jo primary care physician so ALL my records are there. Very sloppy not patient centered at all. I am livid. Once I started questioning , the nurses attitude changed. I will never go here again. This isnt my first rodeo in the land of medicine and our horrible healthcare system. Just horrid going someplace else this am.
