I have recently moved to Bradenton from New York. Ill admit that I was a little nervous after reading the dos and donts in preparation for 2 1/2 hours of testing at MHSC today. That initial trepidation faded rapidly after I met with Dr Van Warner, who made me feel very relaxed as she began the battery of tests. She turned me over to Rebecca, who ran the remaining tests and was wonderful at putting me at ease. Both of these professionals were absolutely top-notch, not only in their skill and knowledge but in their bed-side manner. I nearly had cancelled these tests - very glad I did not! Everyone I encountered at MHSC today was fantastic! Five BRIGHT stars! ... Thank you!

Dr. Costa is outstanding! I had completely lost my hearing in my left ear-virus. Being a music teacher and a pianist this was a blow. She has done everything she can to fit me with a hearing system that will help me the most. She has seen me several times to adjust them perimeters plus she is a lovely person. I feel blessed that she is working with me!!

Friday the 13th...I had an emergency loss of hearing incident. I called at 12:30 to schedule an appointment. Even with 2 Drs down, I was seen immediately, had a hearing test and a procedure the same day. I am very impressed with the care I received. Dr. Costa was excellent! She was patient and explained the hearing test in such a way that that did not feel preachy or like she was trying to sell us something. In spite of an increasing difficulty to hear everyday conversations, I was hesitant to get hearing aids. A friend, who received her hearing devices at Manatee Hearing & Speech Center, suggested I see Dr. Hummel for an evaluation. It changed my life. I am very pleased with Dr. Hummel, the rest of the staff and the ease of getting a routine or urgent appointment. My hearing is so improved and I no longer dread being with people and not being able to understand what is being said.

They do not accept blue cross and wont tell you that up front, even though they take your insurance info and say they have verified it. Got a bill for 155$ for a hearing test 4 months after the test was done. They said that, because they are that good, people with insurance go to them all the time even if out of network. Ummmmm yeah, there are a ton of other docs that are good, including all childrens, that take my insurance. Drop of ego and be kind.

Once again, Liz and Manatee Hearing and Speech hit a GRAND SLAM.

I arrived a little early, as usual, and found the receptionist very friendly. I waited a short time and was greeted by Dr. Hummel. She is a very sweet lady with a very kind manner. She cleaned by hearing aides and proceeded to examine my ears and ask questions. Danielle is a very thorough doctor who examined, explained, and answered all my questions. I find this office staff friendly but efficient and well organized and a pleasure to work with.

I had both a hearing aid tune-up and an appointment for a scan of my sinuses. The hearing aid business went efficiently and pleasantly. Id be rating 5 stars overall, but I had to wait well over an hour to see the doctor & have the scan. Otherwise the staff are all pleasant & good to work with, and I both like and have high confidence in Dr Shelton. Can I rate 4.5 stars?!1 yr later: Had another tune-up & the whole experience was all one could ask for. & the conversation about Connecticut was fun, too!
