I have been a patient at NEW Health in the North End for nearly 10 years and wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for my primary care. First of all, I’ve never had an issue getting an appointment and they also have evening appointments a couple of days a week, which is fantastic. It’s so convenient for me as I live in the neighborhood and their affiliation with Mass General Brigham also makes it convenient when I have a referral to an MGH doctor, since they’re also located nearby. I feel comfortable with my PCP, Dr. Martha McLoughlin, and always know she is listening at both sick visits and my annual physical. The front desk staff is also friendly. NEW Health is a great part of our community!

Staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. They turned me away twice with essentially no explanation.

Have left multiple voicemails to schedule an eye appointment, still have not been able to contact anyone. Moving on from this place and going to try and find somewhere else for an eye exam.

Neighborhood North End Resident wanting covid test - when I called in they said it would cost me $40 to have the testing done ... receive multiple bills from MGH later. Should have been upfront about the additional expense of the test as I would not have gone back for additional tests knowing the hidden fees for the laboratory testing. Program was advertised to protect the north end community. Highly disappointed in the lack of clarity / lack of explanation on what other fees would be incurred for people with / without symptoms.

Terrible COVID testing experience: unclear instructions, difficult to hear since workers are behind several layers of glass without speakers, rude employees, and worst of all an incredibly unsanitary environment wherein they use the same gloves for all guests that are being held less than a few millimeters from your face due to abnormally short swabs after potentially covid infected patients breathe right on them. If I didn’t have COVID going in I probably had it coming out.

Never been here before, but one of the practitioners here (old white guy) was on his way in, Im guessing, shortly before 9am and walked by me at the unofficial smoker spot by 7 E. He made a point of stopping and peering closely down at me (Im female) and then tried to pry the locked gate open beside me, as though suggesting I go in there to have a cigarette. He then stupidly says, its dirty here, while motioning towards the cigarette butts strewn on the ground from countless smokers. Yeah, like the rest of the city! But maybe its his first time in a city, or the North End, who knows. Or maybe he just walks around with a sense of entitlement and smug superiority, thinking its okay to stop and deride strangers whore minding their own business. He then asks if I lived there. Been a resident in this neighborhood for 7 years, and thats the first time Ive been harassed by someone for having a cigarette in peace. Id encourage this miserable person to stop by the different cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood to lecture/deride the Italian men smoking outside, instead of being selective. Be consistent and fair! Dont be a wuss! That way all the smokers in the North End will quit just to please this guy. This one practitioner lacking in civility and manners but has an excess of entitlement is reflective of the type of treatment youll probably get here. Yikes!

How absolutely rude. You advertise as urgent care but when I came in and asked the front desk said “it depends”. Not because you don’t do xrays but you just decide who you want to see. Well I was clearly ill so I’m not sure what I would “depends” mean. Especially since my husband has been for urgent care many times. Then further insult accrued when they asked me about my insurance and I jokingly said “does any one know if it’s ppo or hmo”? To which your staff said “yes you should” and proceeded to speak to me in a very belittling way. When I refused to stay and see a doctor after they said they would try to squeeze me in I heard the older woman laugh at me as I exited. I hope when those women get ill someone never treats them as poorly.

Terrible. Front desk “professionals” seem mad that you are bothering them. What’s the opposite of care? That’s their specialty. Avoid like the DMV worker plague.

My PCP, Rebecca Patel, always takes the time to answer all of my questions never making me feel rushed through appointments. She doesnt hesitate to write referrals if I have concerns outside of her scope of practice, and always has a warm approach to her practice. She also specializes in womens health, which means I dont have to see a GYN in addition to a PCP. Highly recommend!

My son was a patient of Dr. Turnock at this center in April 2015 and when he was only one month old at his first appointment she did a procedure without my permission right in front of me which basically sent him into the ER a few weeks later when he was administered antibiotics at such an early age. She also advised not to wash him which made his infection worse. Her team is also irresponsible and down right rude. After seeing a specialist for the infection which Dr. Turnock caused we were asked to do a test which was important to his well being and Dr. McLaughlin who is also with this center refused to do it and actually made me do it myself. Besides this she didnt put gloves on after i asked her to and refused to check my sons throat when I explained that her hands were dirty which is also unprofessional and disturbing. Overall I am astonished at the fact that the doctors at this practice put my baby into the ER and as a direct result of their malpractice we had to take care of our hurt infant who was fully healthy prior to our visit to this center. And for the past several months rather than enjoy the beautiful moments with our baby we had to frantically look for a responsible pediatric care and were in the ER twice. I even wrote them a letter explaining our feelings about this matter and never even received an apology! I would never recommend these people and would advise other mothers to stay away from this center. These pediatricians are dangerous and should not have the privelage to hold a medical license.
