INCREDIBLY rude, unhelpful, and unqualified. If you would like to be insulted and talked to like you are nothing, visit Dr. Callahan.

Worst Dr I’ve ever met. I went a couple years ago when I was 15 and struggling with severe mental health issues. She decides to take me off the medicine I had been on for 8 months and put me on three high doses of new medicine IMMEDIATELY. Within a couple weeks I was sent to a adolescent psychiatric ward, largely because of her decision to start me on three high doses of new medicine, one of which the actually good psychiatrists determined I never even needed.

Zero stars. Very rude and does not listen. Had a diagnosis from UAB after an extended stay and extensive medical review which stood for over 2 years after going through multiple doctors. First time I saw her she changed my diagnosis completely. Said nothing but hurtful things about why she thought her diagnosis was correct. Sad thing is if she had asked me the appropriate questions she would never have changed my diagnosis. Changing doctors immediately. Dismissive, condescending, & self righteous. Also seemed to only be concerned if I had insurance verses treating me.Do NOT recommend.

The worst service that I have ever experienced. You can never get in touch with anyone to talk to her. I had an phone appointment and waited over an hour for her to pick up. The appointment was for a prescription refill and it has been 3 weeks and it still has not been sent to the pharmacy.

They do not care about their patients at all. Never call to confirm appointments or even better they cancel appointments for you. She never returns phone calls. You pretty much have to go to the hospital and admit yourself before they will get back with you. Front staff is so RUDE. I’ve been unfortunately using this place for 3 years never once have I gotten to see the doctor for longer than 5 minutes. Good bye Grayson and associates ✌🏻

The first time I was scheduled to meet the woman, she was an hour late to my appointment. I have to take off work to be able to go to her so I lost an hours worth of wages. When I showed up for my appointment, she hadnt even left the hospital yet!!!My second time meeting her she WAS on time, but she screwed up my fill date on a prescription that I need daily in order to function properly. I had to leave a message for her and when I called back the next day (because no one had answered me) I was told that she takes 1 to 2 business days to get back to people. I would THINK that a prescription issue should be a priority for her!! Apparently its not!!If I could find another psychiatrist in my area who also took my insurance, Id find another doctor ASAP!

ZERO stars. Staff was indescribably rude and inconsiderate. Complete and total disregard for the fact that it took a week for a call back, another 5 weeks until my appointment, and despite my showing up early as requested, I received no call or notification that not only was the doctor not in the office but running 1hr+ behind schedule and without any version of an apology. HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone looking to actually get help from using this practice. I find their actions despicable and down right disgusting considering their line of work.

Karen Callahan is one of the worst dr’s I’ve ever encountered in my life and shame on Grandview medical center for allowing her to work with children there. She told me my son suffered from “heller’s syndrome”, and Of course wanted to medicate him up which seems to be her signature of how she practices. I’m not an isolated complaint. Do your research. Many parents have complained of children being addicted to various medications at the hands of dr Karen Calahan. My first run in with her was that I would not allow her to at her will pump my 15 year old son full of meds, with no reason, and no diagnosis. She then threatened me and through her nurse told me “he either has to allow the medications or pick up his son.” At which time I went to grandview medical hospital administration, who was of course shocked to see and hear from me and the details of my sons case and my encounter with Callahan. Once he sat in their unit for 9 days, of course paid for by insurance, every kind of test known to man was done and she tells me hellers syndrome. Then dr furlong right in front of my son told me I’d have a vegetable in about two years.... so we sought out the expert dr and medical researcher on hellers syndrome in the country who is located at Yale. After sharing all results and information with the dr at Yale, she concluded my son doesn’t have heller’s syndrome and was puzzled as to why Callahan prescribed the pills in the first place, and even more stunned that furlong would say in front of a patient, more over a child, that the child would become a vegetable.Today my son had another violent break down of some sort. I loaded him up and back to the er at grandview we went, where once again Callahan sent word to me that unless I signed consent for her to medicate, he wasn’t being admitted. So she refused to admit my son.I now have an appointment with our attorney first thing in the am to file litagation against Dr Karen Callahan, Grandview medical center and Greyson and associates for refusing to admit my son in an emergency situation, and putting me back in harms way to drive him home with him still taking swings at me from the back seat of our car.I realize now, good mental health dr’s are clearly in short supply in Alabama.I’m overly disappointed that grandview medical center has the potential and the ability to help so many people, families and children, yet the don’t recognize their own potential and hire folks such as Karen Callahan. Please watch NBC this week we will be releasing my family’s story.SincerelyJessie OdellParent of George Odell.
