Visited Dr. Caballero a few weeks ago. He is my 3rd neurologist and the only one to diagnose my headaches just from my description. Hes very knowledgeable and has a sweet bedside manor. His office staff is very nice too.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Caballero. After 20 years of being told I suffer from chronic tension headaches and not ever finding a good solution, it took Dr. C all but five minutes to diagnose me with the correct condition, and optional reasonably-priced treatment immediately followed. I was so well taken care of and felt safe and prioritized, and I woke up the next day feeling like a new person.

To be clear Dr. Caballero is an A+ doctor, but his office staff is incompetent. I needed forms filled out for my workplace, it takes 3-4 weeks and cost $50. They told me and my HR department on different occasions they would be available on said day 4 weeks later and they still were not. The lie told to my face, the tests that Dr. Caballero order for me was not available yet to complete the forms, but Dr. Caballero discussed my results with me the week prior. Received my refund and took my medical records with me. I saw all the bad reviews about this office staff and still decided to come back to Dr. Caballero because he is a wonderful doctor, but I didnt know they were that incapable. Its going to be hard trying to replace him but it must be done.

I was desperate to find a doctor to help me resolve my headaches that Ive had for more than five years. I carefully researched the internet to find Dr. Caballero. The office gave me an appointment within a week, for which I was very grateful. The staff is very professional and courteous. Dr. Caballero immediately put me at ease and visited with me like we were old friends. He is a very positive and encouraging person. After an MRI, he knew exactly what was wrong. He not only explained my issue in detail, ensuring I understood...he also showed me my MRI and pointed out my trouble spots. At last, thanks to Dr. Caballero, I have tools to successfully manage my headaches. I highly recommend Dr. Caballero!

Hands down the best neurologist ever! My husband has been struggling for the past 7 years with neck/head pain and other symptoms, We have seen many other doctors and they made it seem like it was nothing But Dr. Caballero knew exactly what was wrong. Dr. Caballero took his time and listened to every concern we had and was very patient. Best of all he speaks Spanish and was able to communicate with my husband which made us feel so much better! Dr. Caballeros care has been a great help for my wifes migraines! He talks with her and listens when she has questions or concerns. He keeps up with new neurological and pain management developments and frequently discusses newer treatment options with her. She also feels like she can have good discussions about options she has researched and leaves knowing why those may or may not be helpful for her (assuming he hasnt already offered to try the helpful solutions). We are very appreciative of his care!

Dr. Caballero is the best Neurologist I have ever had. And I have had several. I dont know how but he makes me feel comfortable and gets more information out of me than any others ever had. He also thinks outside the norm when coming up with prescriptions therapies. I strongly recommend him!

I was referred to Dr. Caballero as an emergency to do a nerve conduction test before my major foot surgery the following week. Dr. C did the test and found the nerve problem and also discovered I had neuropathy. Due to my weight los surgery he wanted to do blood work to check for deficiencies in vital vitamins. I was anemic, liver enzymes were 5x the normal range, and I had some B deficiencies. He encouraged me to reach out to my PCP for those concerns. Fast forward to about four weeks later after extensive testing, procedures, and blood work I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. If it were not for Dr. C’s concern about my neuropathy at such an early age. I just had my follow-up with him and he was so humbled by my praise. I owe this new life to Dr. C!! Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge!

He is a great Dr. we went to him about my husband leg it was not what he thought but he didnt stop until he found out what the problem was . So I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs help

I am seeing Dr. Caballero for migraines. I have tried other neurologists in the past but they all blew off my concerns. Dr. Caballero does the opposite. He really cares about your input and runs through different options that may be beneficial for you. He cares about the cost of the medicines for you and the impact it may have whether, good or bad, and has an interactive process to determine what treatment is truly best for you. While he does have a thick accent, he is truly a great neurologist.

For twenty years I have suffered with migraines. I’ve been to another neurologist with no help. I have been to a couple of other doctors that wouldn’t consider anything other than pain meds and other meds that cause more symptoms. Took a few visits before we actually got to the problem of my migrains (needed an mri and then to see a vasular neuro surgeon), but very attentive doctor and the ladies out front are always sweet and helpful. Sometimes the waits are a little long (doesnt necessarily bother me personally) but I know he is only one person, and I like that he wants to be present with his patients. DR. Caballero seems very eager to get my headaches under control, i am hoping this treatment plan works!

I absolutely loved Dr. Caballero. Hes thorough and straight forward yet still calming. When dealing with Migraines or neurological issues Id rather my doctor prepared me for what Im up against, than to dance around and sugar coat things. There wasnt a time I called he didnt reach back out to me. I drove 2 1/2 hours to this office. The one and only reason Im not a patient now is b/c I moved to the Coastal area. I highly recommend Dr. Caballero, hes a great doctor and very personable, great sense of humor too!!

I was referred to the neurology and headache center by my primary physician. I saw Dr Cabarillo. He was very thorough and professional. He was able to help me after a few visits. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a neurologist.

Earlier this year I was told I was responsible for an office visit in 2018 that was denied by my ins. Company. I never received a bill and later discovered the wrong code was used in filing claim. I have made numerous attempts to talk to insurance clerk. When I was finally able to talk to her on June 25 I was told claim was being resubmitted that day as we talked. Today ins. Company tells me claim has not been refiled. My $185 deductible paid at January 2020 visit (visit also pd by ins co) is being held for 2018 claim. I need someone to call me so this can be resolved. Dr. Caballero is an excellent doctor in my opinion and this review/rating is not intended for him. I would give him five stars.

Dr. Caballero has been a blessing. He helped me figure out the right treatment for my migraines. There may be long wait times to be seen, but I believe it is because he tries to help as many patients as he can. His staff are kind and efficient. If you come expecting to wait a little while (seems to be less wait time for morning appointments) then it is really worth it. Dr. Caballero is highly knowledgeable and will do his best to help you.

My mother was diagnosed wrongly about two years ago by a different doctor. But when we first came to doctor Caballero, he was straight forward and helped her in a amazing way. She has became better with Dr. Caballero. He has got her on the right medicines and got her health to where its better for a woman with so many issues like my mom. I can understand the Dr having to leave the office to go take care of patients having a stoke. Because what happened to me is I went to an emergency room while having a stroke and I was sent home and told to take an aspirin. But because my daughter was aware of me having a stroke we decided to travel to Birmingham where i met Dr Caballero and he treated me. I have been his patient for over 3 years now. I appreciate him and his staff.

Getting my appointment was fast and easy!Had a little bit of a wait but that’s ok!Dr Caballero took time with me and listened to me very well. He explained things to me.He diagnosed me right away and did a small procedure and now nearly a month later I still have not had head pain!!!!!I had been missing for years and taking meds with horrible side effects!I’m so thankful I found him! My wife was having migraines, cluster headaches, tension headaches (of course), and occipital neuralgia. Her family doctor wouldnt even prescribe oxygen for the cluster headaches. The local neurologists office told us that it would be about 8 months before they would even call to schedule an appointment.We were so lucky to find Dr. Caballero. He was the first doctor in this whole ordeal who actually seemed to care about how my wife felt. Everyone else had the attitude of Well, I cant help you, so I dont know what to tell you. Youll just have to wait until someone else does something about it, or get used to feeling like youre giving birth through your eye twice a day. Where our family doctors reaction to my wifes pain was to treat her like she was half deaf, Dr. Caballeros first action was to dim the lights to make her more comfortable. I really cant say enough good things about him.I guess I can summarize it by saying that we live nearly 3 hours away and still consider ourselves lucky every time we go to see him. My wife had been getting steadily worse, but she has been gradually improving thanks to him.

I’ve only visited the office twice. The previous doctor relocated and I decided to remain there. The Doctor was very professional. However, the office staff is the worst I’ve EVER seen. First, I had an EEG scheduled on Monday, they called me that Friday before the scheduled procedure and cancelled. Then I rescheduled, they decided to tell me my annual deductible would be 400.00 the day before the procedure which is done in their office. No one said this would be an outpatient procedure. Which I’ve never heard of. My understandings were it would be considered regular testing with 35.00 copay. To sum this up, I also needed my FMLA papers completed for my job, they held them for 2 weeks and charged 50.00 before telling me I must have the procedure first before the papers can be completed. Be mindful the Doctor has my records and knows I suffer from seizures. Bottom line is the office staff is awful. Very unprofessional especially the office manager. She is very rude. Maybe she should host a training class on how to cope with patients. She needs to enroll herself first. I do not recommend that office until everyone decides to take the job seriously. If you do not a pleasant attitude to deal with patients you need to seek employment in another field. I hope the doctor doesn’t condone this type of behavior, if so there will be more patients leaving. No patients no job.

Ive been a patient of Dr. Caballero for almost a decade. With my rare condition, he has done an outstanding job treating me when other neurologists have not done as well. I have followed him from Alabaster to Brookwood to Tuscaloosa and back to Birmingham. I will continue to follow Dr. Caballero wherever his practice may take him!

I cannot rate Dr Caballero because the office staff would not take my insurance as full payment. I was a patient of Dr Sykes and he scheduled this followup. I have a medicare supplement that has no copay and it pays in full. I have never had a problem with this insurance. I was going to have to pay a $60 copay plus a $121 that medicare didnt cover. The supplement is Mutual of Omaha Plan F

Dr. Caballero and his staff were extremely professional and friendly. I was quickly attended to, and the test analysis of my nervous system was done with remarkable and accurate modern technology. The patient room for my test was clean and spacious. Dr. Caballero performed the test himself and went over the results with me. I appreaciate the personal attention, treatment, and diagnosis. Dr. Caballero was truly concerned about my health, and I left relieved and at ease.

PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME going to this place! If I could leave a negative 5 I would. We just left there after waiting for an hour and a half, another couple was still waiting after being there over 3 hours, another lady there with her 3 year old left right before us after waiting over 2 hours. The 1 and only lady up front that is NOT hospitable said the doctor was at the hospital and he never calls to let them know anything. My husband was recommended by another doctor and that doctor will NEVER recommend this place after the phone call he just had with my husband. Far from professional and my dog gets better treatment at the vet than this. You have been warned!

I had seen 3 previous neurologists before finally finding Dr. Caballero. The other doctors were just blindly prescribing medicine to attempt treating me. Dr. Caballero talked out a plan to treat my other symptoms that were contributing factors rather than just “hope” something worked. He will also make sure your pharmacy isn’t overcharging you for your medicine. I recommend Dr. Caballero highly.

Dr. Hector Caballero is an awesome neurologist. He has great bedside manners and is very professional. He deserve five stars. However, his staff is the opposite. They are rude and very unprofessional.It took them two months to turn in required paperwork to my employer that the Dr had signed but the nurse hadnt completed her portion.I had an appointment, after an hour of waiting the receptionist (the nurse ) told me I had a balance. After calling my insurance company, it was determined that they use the incorrect code when the claim was submitted. I was told they would resubmit the claim but before the doctor could see me I had to pay the balance and it will be refunded.I asked could I speak with the doctor because I was in pain and had been waiting for an hour but was told he would only see patients (I am a patient) and would not come to the front to speak with anyone because shes been his nurse for 3 years and she know that is something he dont do. I left and will not return. Dr. Caballero should be made aware of how rude and unprofessional his nurse is to his patients.

I visited Dr. Caballeros office for the first time due to a lower back and sciatic pain that he accurately diagnosed as a herniated disc before seen the MRI image. The treatment was very effective too. Although he clearly warned me not to do stupid things such as lifting heavy weights, I didn’t listened and got hurt again. I arrived to his office a second time in a big pain and limping. With a couple of injections I left his office walking normally and so far the treatment he prescribed is working very effectively. Dr. Caballero friendly care and attention, as well as that of his office personnel was excellent. I strongly recommend this doctor.

This Doctors office is amazing!!!!! If you need to find a new or good Neurologist, then this office is the one for you!!! You will not be disappointed!

I would give zero stars if I could! He has no on call number for weekends , does not do personal calls. And does not do prior authorizations for medications that he prescribes if insurance doesn’t cover it. We were just there Thursday for my 15 yo daughter to get results of MRI and EEG. She had a headache then (has had it all week) and still has one now. They want to see her again before he will give her anything. So another $40 copay before he will talk to us! And they only transfer records out on fridays. This is crazy!! And it’s killing me to watch my child suffer!

After my car accident I had a bad head injury Dr. Caballero explained to me what to expect and he listen to me and my needs. He truly knows his field and takes care of your specific needs on a way that feels personal and not based on the typical doctors that use tablets or generic solutions. He focuses on what happens to you and generates a treatment that it feels it is personalized. He always answered my questions and was very sincere with what to expect, very friendly staff.I’m very thankful that there are doctors like him still around.

Being a doctor is a calling, you have to be born a doctor. Dr. Caballero will make you feel better by just his presence. I really appreciate his calm manner and non pretentious way. I had a back pain because of my job (sitting uncomfortably). The man diagnosed my problem by just letting me stand straight and by looking at my spine, which was later confirmed at the MRI scanning and by the physical therapist. Thanks doctor!

Dr callbero is a good doctor but the lady who sit in the front is rude and needs to check her attitude @ the door before she get the same attitude handed to her. She needs to be more professional and smile. She looks mean and seems like she hate her job. The other receptionist are great. It is the one that sit next to wall.

Dr Cabellero quickly and accurately diagnosed my trigeminal neuralgia (considered to be rare) and my occipital headache/migraine. I didn’t even know it was a headache; I thought it was just a pain in my neck that wouldn’t go away. I have recommended Dr Cabellero to many people and will continue to do so. His office staff is phenomenal, Miza especially. And his current location is very convenient to 459 and 280. Can I give his office 6 stars?!?

He took over the practice for my previous doctor. It took me 2 days to get all my medicine that I need to control my seizures called in and then he only gives me 1 refill on the medication 🤔. This is all after I had an appointment with him which by the way the office will not contact you back at all. On day 2 of trying to get all my medicine sent to my pharmacy I finally inquired if the office even had my records. I’ve had my condition for 25+ years so plenty of records for him to review but I was told they do not have access and haven’t saw my records at all. So I just met with a doctor who has no clue of my history of anything and no clue of my recent visits or anything going on. So I will be finding a new doctor ASAP because I will not deal with this office anymore. Did he really think I would come 4 times in 1 month when I’ve been clear for 3 years since I’m on medication. Oh wait that’s right he doesn’t have records or know his patients or spend time with his patients in the room. If I could less than a one star rating I would but unfortunately I can’t.

I first started seeing Dr. Caballero when he was in Northport. I have followed him every time he has moved. He knows me, my condition and is always concerned about my wellbeing. Dr. Caballero takes his time to listen to and talk to me every visit. After seeing him for 11 years I feel like he is not only my Dr. but a friend.

We were former patient of Dr. Sykes and I hate the fact that this Dr. Has replaced him. The staff is inconsiderate of the patients needs. They sent my husband home after having multiple seizures and being released from the ER. I rushed and left my purse at home on the day that they scheduled a follow up visit and couldn’t make the copay at the time of the visit. I begged for them to see him due to his condition and that payment would be made as soon as we returned home. They would not do it.Really sad to have medical issues and insurance and still get turned away

After suffering with almost unbearable headaches for months, I made an appointment with Dr. Caballero. He diagnosed my problem and treated me with precisely placed injections. I have not had a headache since. His office staff is friendly and efficient.

Dr. Caballero is always very professional and corteous. Took enough time to figure out the root of my pain and prescribed me a new medicine that is working better than my old medication for my chronic migraines. Office staff is always nice and their new location is easy to get to.

Dr. C is a great doctor. I went for severe migraines and double vision.He had me have an MRI. He asked me when I came back for my results if I was very smart in school. I told him I was and he pointed out all these Neuro Pathways and said the more lines you have the smarter you are. I thought it was very sweet. It was my poor vision not migraines. Great Doctor. A bit rushed but he would always call in meds without a visit.

I was called back by Deb the nurse and she was a sweetie. Dr Caballero walked in and was very nice . He had very good manners which i havent experienced by a doctor in a long time. Both Deb and Dr Caballero took the time to actually listen. By far the office was very professional!

Dr Cabellero has been my neurologist for almost 3 years now seen me through 3 strokes, he has the best bed side manners a patient could ask for, answers all your questions, recommends doctors for a particular issue immediately, medications he gives always works you never have to second guess him at what he prescribes or does...most of all if you’re at the hospital Brookwood and you tell them who your doctor is you best be known he is going to be by your bed side to make sure you are ok.i have experience it first hand not once but three times he his is the best doctor God could ever provide for me for my medical conidition..Thanks for going above and beyond. I am a new pt to Dr Caballero. I work in the medical field with a 25 year back ground in Insurance so I had called my insurance company to verify my benefits. My benefits included him and I would pay a 35.00 copay and be seen. When I got there they took my paperwork and my Ins card and I sat down. After about 20 minutes the front office called me back up and said that Dr Caballero was out of network for me and I would have to pay 300.00 to be seen because that is what is left on my out of network deductible. (this is against the law because you cant have me pay for what I have not done) I said how much is the office visit and she didnt answer me and I said its not 300.00. I preceded to tell her that I work in the field and had called for my benefits and she kept pointing at the paper. I asked which number did you call on the back of my card there are 3. She said the number on the back of your card... By this time I am hot! I am in pain and I have been waiting 3 weeks for this appointment and I said can you call this number pointing to the correct number to get my benefits and she said you can call them. So I call the number and I loose signal on my phone and I tell her can I use your phone I have no signal and she said you can get one in the hall. So I call and sure enough Dr Caballero is tier 1 on my plan which is a 35.00 copay. So the Ins lady said she would call the dr office. She did and after the front office was made aware of the new benefits the girl rolled her eyes at me and said you were right. So I paid my 35.00 copay. My apt was at 9.30 I was taken back at 11am. I guess I lost my spot because they couldnt get my insurance right.The Dr is a very good dr and the treatment that I have received from him will be the only reason that I will go back. Your front office people can make or break your practice. And it will not cost you anything just to have call the number that I asked them to call... The whole waiting room was hearing this because it is very small.... Get some good help or get someone that can train them to have customer service skills

The wait time is horrible. You have a 1pm appointment and youre not seen until after 3pm. That is a BIG problem! I will not be going back! Im having my records transferred ASAP!

Editing my previous review - I had forgotten the staff was in the process of moving to a new office. Ive been seeing Dr. Caballero for nearly 5 years and he has worked with me the entire way.

His receptionist is very rude .i see her rudeness wasn’t with just us. I’ll make sure to tell the doctor- if I ever come back.

Excellent attention and professionalism from Dr. Héctor Caballero and his team, I highly recommend him, human and professional with extensive experience.

He is an excellent doctor apart from that he has a lot of experience, it was very helpful for me because I do not speak much English and I was able to explain my problems to him because he speaks Spanish.

Last Monday I had a myasthenia gravis crisis, the prompt attention of Dr. Caballero and his office staff made a difference in my health and my life, which was in danger. I have no way of thanking Dr. Caballero and the entire medical team at the hospital. Brookwood Baptis center just say Thank you for all your attention and your medical care only the best 😁👍.
