The front window looks inviting but once you step beyond the front door, the studio is in desperate need of an overhaul. The shampoo seats are falling apart. The curtains near the restroom are stained with dye. There is dust and dirt all over the place. There are electrical outlets that industrial which is fine in another environment. I go there because the staff is welcoming and friendly and my hairstylist is fabulous!. The owners should be embarrassed to charge such high prices for terrible environment. Close the shop and fix all the problems!!

The reasons I visited this salon in suburban Washington, DC are twofold: (1) I was staying at a local hotel which had such incredibly restrictive flow control devices on its shower heads that it would take at least 30 minutes to rinse shampoo out of my very long hair and (2) I go to an Aveda salon at home and always try to find one when traveling. The staff members I encountered were friendly and welcoming. The woman who shampooed my hair gave me an excellent scalp massage. The stylist certainly did a great job with the blow-dry and flat ironing; however, I got the vibe that she was overbooked and had to get me out of her chair as quickly as possible. I was very satisfied with the finished product, to be sure. It just was not the relaxing experience I had enjoyed when I needed to visit an Aveda salon for the same reason in suburban NY City.

Ive been coming here for years and not disappointed. I think their hair color and hair care products are great. My hair always looks fabulous, healthy, and shiny when I leave.

I have gone here for years. All of the hairdressers do exceptionally quality work. The cuts and colors are worth the cost. And they last!

Me & my friend went & got a massage. They only have 1 person right now but West was AMAZING!! He had me so relaxed & I explained that I have herniated discs & sciatica but he got in there & loosened me up where I was tight. He even massaged my scalp. 😲 Hours later & my body is so calm & relaxed. I would go back just for him.

This is the absolute worse place for a pedicure. First, they do not have the traditional spa chairs. They have a generic portable spa basin that’s loud and annoying. I thought, I was coming to Aveda Spa atmosphere to get a nice relaxing pedicure and it’s the absolute worse. The owner needs to upgrade the chair and spa connectivity. So disappointed!! Especially, for the price. Definitely, not worth it for a pedicure.

Excellent salon, great products, lovely customer service. Aveda is well prepped to do business in the age of COVID-19 with all healthcare precautions and protections in place.

Poor customer service and inaccurate hours: We checked their hours online and saw they close at 6PM on Sunday and drove from DC, arriving a bit before 5PM to buy hair and skin products. The store was full of staff, but we were told they actually close at 5PM due to lack of customers. We pointed out that it was before 5 and we were told they had shut down their register early and couldnt help us! As we left, we asked them to correct the store information online, which they havent done. Very unprofessional operation.

First time customer and I must say I am impressed with not only the quality of work but also the accommodation. I will be returning without a doubt!

Im an AA woman with type 4B-4C hair. Im also transitioning from permed hair to my natural state, so I have a variety of hair textures happening from root to end. I work close by so scheduled an appointment earlier this year to have my hair cut and styled by Dee (who came highly recommended by the front desk staff). I was a little apprehensive about having my hair styled by someone who wasnt African American because of my many textures. Dee put my mind at ease during my first visit! She was very friendly, gentle on my hair and scalp and confident (not at all intimidated by my hair)! She handled me and my hair like a professional and gave me a very clean cut and style (see my profile pic)! I was also in and out without feeling rushed! Ive been back to see her a second time and will continue going back! Some may consider the prices high, but its worth it because of the quality of products and service that youre receiving. Id highly recommend Aveda and Dee!!! :-)

I have some disabilities and Betsy takes such good care of me. She brings her whole operation downstairs so I dont have to do the stairs, and shes very thoughtful about what kind of cut and color are best for me. I trust her absolutely. And the woman who washes my hair (her name begins with Z but I cant remember the rest) also goes out of her way to make sure Im comfortable. I have never been even slightly disappointed.

We see Sam. You can too. Shes great.She does mine and my spouses hair. She can do it all. The salon is very niceI can never leave without the yummy tea.

Susie McNair did an amazing job on my hair! I have naturally curly/wavy hair and Susie knew just what to do! But she listens to you too -- what has worked and what hasnt worked in the past. I couldnt be more pleased with how my hair turned out. I highly recommend her! Shes got a wealth of experience and is very talented!

This was my first time at the Aveda salon at Bethesda Row, and I had a wonderful experience. The staff is very nice and welcoming and takes great care of you! Kerry did an incredible job with my thick, long hair- transforming my look to something very polished and professional. I was very pleased with her work! I have a very dry scalp and Kerry gave me a life-saving oil treatment and a gentle shampoo- making what is usually very painful for me something quite pleasant and relaxing. Overall, a great experience- would definitely return!

First time here, and I made sure to request a stylist that would be familiar with trendy hairstyles.Full disclosure, they took me 10 min late. I did however get a great, well versed hair stylist. She described everything she was going to do and communicated well.I left with the exact cut and style I asked for.

I’ve been a regular customer at Aveda Bethesda for more than a decade because of my very talented stylist whom I love like a sister. I finally hit the wall today in my sadness with how the owners treat the staff and customers so I decided to write this to get their attention. Please renovate this salon! Little to nothing has been done in the last 10 years to take care and update the space. It’s so dumpy I won’t bring my friends because it’s embarrassing to recommend it. I’m also saddened by the lack of training and staffing at the Assitant level. My stylist carries a heavy load and handles multiple clients at a time and I can’t stand seeing her keep asking and asking and asking for help with foils and clean up because there is consistently not enough staff. It seems in this business that the stylists are what brings in the customers so I’m asking that you please support them.l so they can do the great job they’re capable of doing for us customers. Thanks

Loved my stylist and the my hair color but it only lasted for about two weeks (and didnt feel so permanent). This is even with expensive, color protect shampoo and conditioner.

West gave me the best massage Ive ever had in my life. Im almost nervous that I wont be able to get an appointment with him if word gets out about how fantastic he is. But I cant be self. His skill is incredible. I was having some neck and shoulder pain. He went over the time allotted and used just the right amount of pressure and manipulation in all the right places. I cant recommend him highly enough.

Tiffany is absolutely the best. Thats why I followed here from another location. I have a standing appointment with her for massage. Yah for Tiffany!

This place is ridiculously expensive and not worth it. When you ask how much a service cost, the employees just make up a price which is about 150% more than most other salons in Bethesda. Make sure youre Clear on pricing before you start the service. What a scam!

Roa gives the most amazing manicure and she is SO sweet!

It’s infuriating to see the store being closed before it’s closing time. It’s supposed to be closed at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, but when I arrived at 5:54pm, the door was shut and no one was there. Unacceptable. I rushed after work just to go there before it closes. Really mad.

The hairstylists are fine but the people working in reception are unprofessional and rude.

Before I started using Aveda Bethesda I tried 4 other Hair Salons. And none of them could consistently get my cut and color right. One month its be perfect, the next month Id be blonde, the month after that it would go frizzy...I went to Aveda Bethesda because I like the Aveda products. On first impression it seems small and cramped, with things like customer waiting aread and hair washing stations squished in wherever theres a little room. The pace is rather frenetic, unlike other Aveda salons I have visited,But Lan is amazing. My hair color looks better and more natural than my actual color and my hair looks good no matter how much (or little) work I put into it. And it looks good EVERY TIME. And that makes this salon the best Ive found in the DMV.

Fabulous mani/pedi with Roa! Best mani/ pedi Ive had in years - very meticulous and it lasted for several weeks. The logistics were different from what Im used to (no soaking tub at outset - it was brought in later), but Ill return. Shes terrific.

I purchased a $60 Aveda gift card online. When my wife went to this location to redeem it, they stammered, lied, and claimed they were a private business which had nothing to do with Aveda. When we confronted them with evidence from the website as well as the eGift card, they reversed course and said the card could actually be applied to purchase some of their shampoos, just not any of their services (the website mentioned no such restrictions on its use). Avoid this scam operation.
