My daughter will only use this place, as she insists it is the only place that doesnt hurt her as she is tender headed and loves to straighten her curly hair. She insisted I accompany her for a mother/daughter blowout and I finally agreed to go. (I generally wear my hair naturally curly). I actually loved our time there. My hair looked great, they were very professional and on time.

First and foremost, my stylist Dara Green was phenomenal and unbelievably knowledgeable/professional. I walked out of the appointment feeling more beautiful than I have in a long time. However this is at least the third time I’ve had to remedy unauthorized charges to my card from the Bethesda location (a card that you are forced to keep on file). One of those previous unauthorized charges stemming from being double booked and subsequently charged a fee.Specifically, this charge (on 12/30)— which I just noticed, thank goodness— was a $20 “No Show” fee for an appointment that I was early for, paid for additional services, tipped my stylist, left positive feedback through the company survey AND actively have a receipt for. It is unbelievably frustrating that, as a long standing customer, I am unable to trust that my card isn’t being mismanaged. Not to mention— I received the “No Show” charge email a day AFTER my appointment which does not sit right with me at all, for I hope obvious reasons. All this leads me to ask: What is the check in process and how are customers marked as “present”? Are appointments officially confirmed as “present” by way receipt, at the conclusion of your appointment? If so, why am I being charged a $20 no-show fee when I received a receipt? How has someone been able to, perhaps, manually mark me as a “no-show” after the fact? Moreover, what was a positive experience with Ms. Green (who did her job beautifully) has ultimately created more stress and confusion than what I signed up for.As we all know, these are unusual times and many of us go to Drybar to give ourselves a treat, relax and carry on with our busy day-to-days. I hope that my faith in Drybar’s business practices can be restored but for now, I will remain at bay. Can’t deal with the head ache.

First time going to the Drybar and had a great experience in Bethesda. After reading the reviews on google, I was skeptical but figured I would give it a try. First, the employees in Bethesda were ALL VERY NICE and appreciative of my business. My appointment started exactly on time and Rebecca did an excellent job. She was so pleasant and took time and was even patient with my indecisiveness. My experience was wonderful and not at all like others apparently experienced. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

I was at the Grapevine, TX location a week ago. Great customer service, presentation, professionalism and overall atmosphere!Unfortunately today I visit the Bethesda, MD location and it was totally the opposite. Very disappointed with everything and I felt a bit racial profiled. I was not offered a drink at all nor to take my coat. I was not given all the services I booked for nor did the front desk informed my stylist what I was in for. My stylist didn’t bother to ask me either. Very dry, blunt service. The appearance of your personnel is very low key as well. I would assume that for a high-end shop and location your personnel attire would me more appropriate and not so casual. Overall I give it a one star rating and I feel I didn’t get my money’s worth.

I booked an appointment here a whopping 20 minutes ahead of time, steeling myself for an awful experience based on the reviews. However, I was seen IMMEDIATELY! My stylist was very warm and sweet, an absolutely delightful person. I told her I completely expect my curls to fall out quickly, as my hair cant hold anything for too long. She decided to then work harder on keeping each curl intact as she did them, and my hair held all darn day! I was really impressed with the style, which was exactly what I asked for (Cosmo-Tai) and I really enjoyed the experience! At $49 its not something Id do regularly, for sure, but a once-in-a-while treat. I went on a Thursday at 2 in the afternoon, so maybe my timing was just good? Either way, I had a great experience!

I booked an appointment for 5:45pm and arrived on time at the Bethesda MD location. It wasnt until 7pm that my daughter was taken back to the shampoo area. No offer of a drink. So I asked for a drink but they didnt have soda so I said I would take water. Didnt happen so I went out to 2 different places to get coffee and a Pepsi. My daughter has been to this location a few times and was happy so I decided to bring her there even though Im not financially in a good place right now. My daughter is biracial and I am not good with her hair. And she is 10 so I dont expect her to be able to blow out her own hair. Anyways, when I first walked in I was shocked to see how some of the stylists were dressed. I dont feel its appropriate to wear a top so short your breasts pop out from underneath when you raise your arms slightly. But it was more than one person working with very questionable attire. The only good thing that came out of this is that our stylist Jennifer did a great job on my daughters hair. But thats the extent of anything positive about the experience here. Very disappointed. If my daughter gets her hair done here again it wont be because I took her.

So rude! I have not had such an unpleasant experience in quite some time and will never return. Its almost like everyone - managers, technicians - are doing us a favor with their presence. Quite a miserable lot. Some of them even wear ear pods so they dont have to say a single word to you. I dont mind the silence but what I do mind is the all out nasty atmosphere.

I’ve been to San Francisco, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Bethesda locations, and Bethesda is the only one to which I probably won’t return. The last time I was there, the person at the front desk incorrectly insisted I was late even after I produced a Drybar email confirmation for my correct appointment time. No apology. Despite that, they saw me promptly and I’ve found that the stylists do a good job.

Went in on a Sunday morning to get a regular blowout. I would not advise anyone with short hair especially if its thick or coarse hair to go to this place.

I wish I could not even give ONE star. This place is HORRIBLE. They NEVER EVER honor the time you have an appointment. They basically just give you a time and then you could literally end up sitting there for 30-45 min. Once you get to be styled, they do a decent job but it is only practical if you have nothing else to do and could spend hours on end sitting, waiting, inhaling hair spray and listen to loud music. I have asked several different people and they all have the same excuse “sorry, we didn’t know we will get so busy”! Is it really possible NOT to know and plan ahead like every SATURDAY?!!!!!Also, the attitude and rudeness of receptionist when I asked why would I be given a 3 pm appointment and then wait 45 min was just cherry on top!

Had a great experience! Surprised by some of the negative reviews. I was in and out in 30 minutes and only waited 5 minutes before being seen, while enjoying a complimentary beverage. While waiting two people checked on me and all the staff were really friendly. The stylist asked if I wanted two shampoos or one (I chose two) as well as my preference about conditioner and other products. She also asked several questions about my styling preferences (I didnt have too many, let her do what she thought was best). I left with an awesome, full, feminine blow out with curls at the end. I booked a basic blow out ($40) and my stylist used curlers and a few products for volume and shine. Much, much nicer than I usually get at a salon after a haircut and of course a million times better than I could do myself. Also I have naturally thick, very curly hair - not the easiest to style - so I wasnt expecting anything fantastic, but was pleasantly surprised!

Tried this location a couple of times and was never full happy with the results because I like to have my roots blown out really well and some people are too timid. However, this last time with Kristen and she did a magnificent job! Im already 5 days into my blow dry and with a little bit of dry shampoo, it looks like I just had it done. I cant wait till my next appointment but it will definitely have to be with Kristen.

I went here last month to get my hair done it wa big blow up between two stylist because the black guy didn’t want to do my hair and took a walk in over me as my friend had made an appointment for all of us to get our hair done together. The girl was mad that he didn’t reprimanded for his behavior as he purposely skipped over me and took the non white client. I actually like my hair and the girl who did it was amazing. She tried to get my mind off of the big blow up that resulted in the lady stylist walking off of her job. Because she furious that I was being treated this way. It was super unprofessional, at the end of the day the ended up charging the wrong person three times instead. They charged one of my friends cards after all of that all of our hair should’ve been highly discounted. Not to mention just being publicly embarrassed. I was thinking of going back here because I did like the shampoo they use and how silky my hair felt after. But the embarrassment of what won’t allow it. Nobody should have to feel this way.

The place had no real phone number, I called to ask if I could still come as I was running 10 min late, the operator said they’d let them know at the Bethesda location and I may just gave to wait....I got there and they said they couldn’t take me at all because they were running an hour behind...this was before an event and I had no backup plan....you can’t actually communicate with a human at the location which is pretty bad since it also seems they are double booking all their appointments (said the hair salon up the street)

I dont understand why these people have an appointment at all because they never stick to their appointment time. They just take people when ever they want to which is not how it works and if they dont change that then its not gonna stay open much long because like any business customers comes first and if that dont happen then youll close down like any place. My first experience in a different location was great but this location in particular was awful. The front staff was rude and not welcoming at all which makes you not even wanna do your service here. Overall horrible experience!!!! Need better and friendlier staff.!!!!!!!!

My cousin suggested I go to Drybar when visiting Buckhead, ATL. I loved the experience...so much everytime I went to Atlanta, I got my hair done with them. I thought Id get a similar experience with Bethesda. I was wrong.Their service is awful. My most recent visit, I asked my stylist to use a paddle brush when blow drying my hair (this is how they did it at the Buckhead location). She refused and told me that she was going to do it the way she knew how. She did not use a paddle brush, but at that point I didnt even feel like saying anything after I made multiple requests. After going to the Bethesda location multiple times, I think it is time for me to give up on this location. I always get someone that is rude, cant do ethnic hair, or does not listen to my requests. You are better off going to the Tysons location. The overall quality of service there is 100 times better than Bethesda.

I wont be back. As someone that gets a blow-out every other week, I was VERY clear about he the texture of my hair. Despite this, my hair was a frizzy mess within an hour. That was enough to make me not want to come back... but I will continue. My appointment started 30 minutes late without any apology, the ladies room had no toilet paper and the chairs in the hair-washing room were so covered in grimy, gooey filth, I almost walked out then because I didnt want to sit in them. I had the worst experience at this dry bar today. I went in with a friend to return a gift and we were informed (in a rude a condescending manner by Angelica) that without a gift receipt nothing could be done. As we tried to speak to a manager and explore options we were then repeatedly threatened by Carolyn that she would call the police on us if we didnt leave the store since we had already received our answer. Unbelievable!!

Worst Drybar experience ever, and I used top be a loyal customer and also go to top salons in the area for haircuts. Save yourself and Do NOT go to this location. They should do everyone a favor and just close this location.

I walked in on a very busy weekday. Im a mixed chick (African and Latina) with long, thick curly hair and was worried about how this would work. Ive been to Drybar once before. On that occasion the gentleman who helped me quickly blew my hair semi dry (not straight) it was still very curly and then he flat ironed it. It took a long time and the end result looked nice but wasnt what I envisioned. This time around I specified with the front desk staff that I wanted someone who knew how to blow out my ethnic hair without using a flat iron. They set me up with Caterina within about 5 mins. I specified with her what I wanted again, she said yup I got it. I was not with the regular program. My hair was in a topknot and mostly damp but I wanted to throw some water on it just in case. She accommodated my odd way of doing it. Any particular preference I had for how I wanted something done she accommodated graciously. After completing the first quadrant of my hair (in record time) I asked to see it just to make sure we were on the right track. It was what I wanted. Its shiny with just the right amount of bounce. Its not perfect; the roots could be a little bit straighter but I suspect she was trying to avoid overheating my scalp. She pinned it perfectly for me. I was desperate and otherwise wouldnt have gone back after my first experience but this experience changed my mind. I guesstimate I was in and out in 45 mins. The moral of the story is ask questions, be proactive and your experience should be satisfying also.

I had a horrible experience at this location! I set up an appointment for 6:30 pm and arrived on time. I asked how long it would be and I was told it would be about 15 minutes before someone would help me. Honestly, I didnt mind waiting a little bit. 40 minutes later I was still waiting to helped and no one had approached me to apologize or acknowledge I had waited so long. I sat there another 10 minutes calling the Drybar customer service line and cancelled my appointment so I wouldnt be charged the $20 fee. The lady that helped me was very apologetic but the experience was very disappointing. I would understand if it had been a walk-in situation but if I make an appointment I expect to be helped within a reasonable amount of time. It was a waste of my time especially having been my first experience with this company.

The location is very nice in terms of it being in downtown Bethesda. A colleague recommended this salon for their speed and beautiful hair design. She has ethnic natural hair as well as I. I normally visit a salon about once every 18 months as a treat to me and/or for an event. I booked an appointment as I needed this service for both.I informed the booking agent of my hair type and to place this on my file as my colleague suggested.Upon arrival, I met with the stylist and explained to her that my hair is naturally curly (3c) hair and asked her if she was able to style my hair. She said a family member had a similar hair type. I told her of my event and that this was a long awaited treat for me. I asked her to be careful of using high heat on my hair since I wear my hair curly 98% of the time and didnt want heat damage. She whisked me off to shampoo my hair. She hardly focused on shampooing my scalp and only focused on the hair to which I promptly requested their deep treatment Mudslide in an attempt to have my scalp massaged since this was spelled out as part of the treatment. Unfortunately, the scalp massage was not much different than the shampooing. My colleague stated she is in and out in normally an hour. It took me almost 2 hours and 18 minutes. The stylist seemed very timid about how to handle my hair and after blow drying my hair offered to flat iron it since it appeared to be a blow out Afro. The flat ironed did not make much of an improvement and she went over my hair many times in a failed attempt to make it straight. She had a pleasant demeanor; however, I could tell that she was in deep thought about my hair and was problem solving versus knowing exactly what she was doing. My hair turned out absolutely awful. I went in with my hair in a ponytail and placed my hair in a ponytail upon leaving. One stylist attempted to curl my hair for me prior to leaving. I could tell that if she had done my hair from the beginning it would have looked better than how it ended up. Whats even more frustrating is that several stylists that had my own hair type personally or had an ethnic clientele continuously walked by glancing at what was happening to me and no one came until the very end to try to assist.I am so hurt that I had to pay for parking, drive from another city, wait hours for a hairstyle that didnt deliver with onlookers (clients and other hair stylists) staring. I have viewed the Drybar website, reviews, etc. for days waiting for my special turn and it was horrible.I just moved to Maryland and thus far it has not proved to be as great of an experience as I had hoped in terms of customer service. Additionally, I was not offered a discount nor a free of charge service. Not to mention, I was not given a receipt to which I had to return to the store to get. I pray that those in the store watching this unfold in particular the staff members will step up to help those who need it in the future. You are a team and while all stylists have had training and certifications, it is clearly evident when one may be struggling or have challenges to think of the customer first and the image of the Drybar rather than sitting back, helping at the end of the service, or do nothing at all to assist. I know that the loudest wagon gets the oil; however, I am more refined than that so lets prevent issues to avoid having to solve them. I pray my hair will recover and I am in utter dismay about my hair as I will now have to redo something that should have been done properly in a short amount of time to make my deadline. If you have straight hair, this salon may be a great option for you. If you personally know the stylist and their work then you may want to try it. It did not work out for me.😞
