Visited this office to schedule an appointment and a supervisor named Diane was blatantly rude and refused to keep the office in order kids running around it felt like I was applying for state aid and not dental treatment for my child when I got to the counter there was dust everywhere it seemed like they couldn’t even clean the counters bad management. Before I left I even went to the restroom to see the state it was in felt like a litter box pee on the floor and toilet paper ripped about will be visiting the Bernard location a lot better maintained

My daughter is a new patient here and we transferred here from another dental office because I would be saving money here. Well this is our last visit because the staff here have no regard for your time. Our appointment was at 2:30pm and it is 4pm and we still are not done just for a SIMPLE EXAM. One thing I notice about offices that accept medi-cal is that they will treat you and your time like you have absolutely nothing else to do. I have other kids, I cannot sit around for 2 hours watching all the staff walk around. I will be going back to our original dentist using my PPO dental plan where we are in and out in a reasonable time and I can feel respected. Never coming back here.

I speak as a mother, my boys were former patients for this location. I recently transferred them to a different dental office.Reason is that their check up visits always last almost 3 hours and thats ALWAYS! anytime they have had cavities the appointments were always at least 2-3 months out, which makes no sense if they NEED work done why scheudle so far out?As I changed them dental offices the new office go us us within the same week, i was in and out in a hour and with new patient forms. Their dental work was scheduled within 2 weeks. ( Just for kids dental) in case anyone wants exceptional care!Your babies deserve better dental care and your time is precious to be wasted.Reminder if you have medical YOU CAN GET WHITE FILLINGS dont let them fool you!

Great and friendly staff. I brought my 3 kids and I appreciate that the dental assistants do their very best to make the kids feel comfortable when they are cleaning their. I took my 1yr old and they were soo friendly and they an amazing job at keeping him calm to check and clean his teeth. My oldest son loves talking to the assistants while being there. My middle usually has trouble with getting his teeth clean but this time the dental assistant was able to clean and do everything they needed with out any trouble and he came out with a big smile on his face.

My one star is based on the organization and respecting people’s time, and not based on the dental treatment itself, as my son wasn’t able to have it!After getting there 5 min prior to my son’s appointment time, I was told at the door that they were short staffed and that I had to wait around two hours for dental treatment. I had to leave right away as I couldn’t wait that long.

The office staff was very friendly, and courteous. Made the kiddos feel very comfortable. Went above and beyond to get things done in a timely manner.

I would give Smileland zero stars and a medical mal-practice lawsuit given they proceeded to damage my daughters teeth and torture my daughter for their business gain. Smileland Dentist and staff diagnosed our daughter with having two cavities one on each upper molar. They did not provide us x-rays nor schedule a future appointment for x-rays and wanted to continue with fillings, scheduling the appointment 6 months out. A second opinion from another dentist with good reviews was sought after. Comfort Childrens Dental evaluated our daughter and found no cavities, providing proof with x-rays. PARENTS BEWARE OF MEDICAL MAL-PRACTICE WITH SMILELAND DENTAL LOCATED OFF 3990 Ming Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Your experience may vary however, I find it very difficult to believe this was a mistake considering how concerned they were by lecturing me on what foods we allow our daughter to eat and asking us to make changes in her diet while scheduling an appointment for a procedure to fill two cavities. Our daughter is three years old.

My kids been at this dentist for two years the nurse are awesome and nice and patient but the dr are so rude and not patient and this the only dentist that doesn’t allow parents back there for treatment even before covid, and the dr don’t respect privacy like they give ur diagnose in front of other patients and parents the dentist lady is mean and rude to children and parents I will be transferring my kids to Bakersfield Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics on Allen rd so nice their and allow parent in w their child. And one more thing they take forever to call patients back when we have specific appt time! Smileland is overcrowded and take forever nurse are sweet but the dr don’t have patient w kids.

I have 3 boys that go to SmileLand Dental on Ming and each time I?ve gone the staff has been wonderful. They make me feel like they really care. Not only are they careful when working with my boys, they know how to interact with children very well. Their points and prizes system works really works like a charm, it encourages my boys to come back and take good care of their teeth. That?s not all though, I especially love that they follow up on my boys the same day of a major procedure ( if any) to make sure they are feeling ok. Thank you guys so much for taking good care of my babies.

This is the most welcoming dental office I have ever visited with my kids. The staff and dentists are friendly and make my kids feel less anxious or scared. They answer all your questions and tell you exactly what they will do to your child. The best part is that you can be there with your child to comfort them.Thank you for the amazing service.

Very nice staff. They explain everything what my son was going to get treated for. The only thing was the waiting got there at 11:45am I was not seen until 1230pm it was a really big wait and than still had to wait another 15 mins for the dentist. Other than that everything came out good.

I wouldn’t go there if you’re a adult. I wasn’t aware this place was just for kids when I first went but I was waiting well over 2 hours for a 15 minute x ray checkup. I went in for a walk-in appointment but apparently they only take a limit of 3 walk ins bec they’re short staffed. The last time the desk lady told me to come in for a walk-in she said nothing about a limit or else I would’ve showed up earlier. Trying my best to avoid this dentist again.

I had a appt today for my daughter, but I rescheduled for emergency reasons, anyways the main point is my daughter was a new patient, and they told me they would call me if her insurance wouldnt cover, or if she had a copay or etc.. well when I was rescheduling her appt today I ask the lady, that they never called me about my insurance and I was wondering if she is covered or not, the lady told me that they did check the insurance and it was not covered, so I told them why didnt they tell me, they should of called me so I wouldnt waste my dam time going way over there for her not to get covered like wow!!! They need to call the patients if the insurance does not cover, people cant justDrive over there and then have tHe dam money all of a sudden to pay everything,there is a reason they have insurance or medical. Next time call train your employees to call people like they said they would.

My daughter was a bit older than normal for her first dental appointment. I waited so long because I was genuinely afraid she would be too scared, and the whole thing would be traumatizing. Thankfully I was wrong and all my worrying was pointless. We talked about what would happen before the appointment, and she seemed okay with everything that I told her. The staff was friendly, so grateful for that. I know sometimes one rude person having a bad day can ruin your whole experience. But that wasn’t the case at all at Smileland. They checked our temps at the door, guided us to our seats. When we went back I was able to sit right next to my girl so she wasn’t afraid. The dental assistant that helped us was very kind and patient. Your child can earn points and stickers towards redeeming toys. All the more motivation to keep taking care of those pearly whites. Overall, we had a great experience. I hope our next visit is just as pleasant.

My daughter needed some work done. Waited 2 hrs on waiting with an appt. They didnt finish the work and my daughter is left with unwork done until November . Thats pretty unprofessional leaving patients especially kids with unfinished work just because they ran out of time the day. Why can they accomodate since it was their fault for not managing their time!! Removed both of my kids from there.

Worse dentist place in Bakersfield, my son was traumatized with their methods. If you like your kids to be tied up and put to sleep and then be woken up all scared and traumatized then be my guess but they don’t even let parents accompany their kids. I will never take my son to a place like this again.

Wow this place is super nice. They have video games, tablets, tvs for the kids wich is great!!! The staff is super nice and friendly all of them with a great smile and attitude for being a Monday Morning it made our day. Thanks

This place is very welcoming! The staff is always polite and very organized especially in these COVID times. My kids enjoy going to the dentist and even loves making talk to all the employees. And its great how they have always have a raffle or something going own. 🙂

My kids last dentist was HORRIBLE! marked up/scarred (literally) my boy! We went here on a friends recommendation and i could not be happier .. they understood my concerns and what happened to my boy. I really like smileland very much and highly recommend them. My lil boy had the same procedure done and there was no marks/scarring at all. They were also patient with my lil girl who has anxiety issues. My kids dont throw fits when they know we have to go to the dentist like they did with their old one.

The wait was pretty long but they were very nice & kept me updated the majority of the time.Very clean place, they cleaned after each person left

Over 2 hour wait to have X-rays done and then I waited another 30 min for cleaning. After 30 min I ended up leaving without cleaning because I had another appointment to go to. It’s unfortunate there are so many parents that take their kids and have to return to work. I wish they would take that into consideration and not book past their capability.

The wait time is ridiculous. Waiting more than 1 hour. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Always over an hr wait in the lobby. Then another 30 or more when you get sent back. Employees are usually standing around talking which explains the wait.

I came for my sons checkup. The employee Elma wasnt friendly at all. Was nothing but frustrated and annoyed with my son when she was trying to clean his teeth. She showed it no problem. Having a joblike this needs patience with kids not someone frustrated because a 4 year old is scared of the equipment. Dont work with children if youre going to act like that. My son kept telling her it was hurting him and she kept going. She did an awful job at cleaning his teeth. Its time to find a new dentist! That actually cares about the kids needs.

Jazmine the assistant we had was fabulous. She was very caring and gentle. On the other hand the doctor I dont know who he was bc he never gave me his name, was kind of rude and mean. The place was clean but that Dr ruined the whole experience for my son.

The wait times are too long I understand they are busy but maybe dont book much people at a time other than that good, somewhat clean, but I do like the young lady Dentist there is just this one other older Dentist that gave me a whole different opinion on my childs tooth needs and it was not even necessary from what the actual knowledgeable Dentist assured me. So that makes if difficult when it comes to his actual needs.

I was horrified to note that they dont clean the seating between guests. Been here an hour already and still waiting. I am not at all impressed. I know that with Covid there are no games and such, but not cleaning the seats is negligent in my opinion.

They took good care of my daughter and reassured her that everything was going to be fine and fast. My child has been scared of the dentist since day 1 but the girls at Smileland had the patience and handled her with care. Worse than waiting at an Urgent Care!! Extremely slow each time. The appointment for my daughter was at 11:30AM for treatment so we arrived at 11:15. We did not leave til 3PM! ALMOST 4 HOURS TOTAL. It took 2 hours to be seen for X Rays then went back to the wait room. Finally went to the treatment room soon after and waited another hour in the treatment room. At 2pm they did the treatment. Treatment only takes approx. 45mins. So we were out literally by 3PM.

My kids love going to smile land. The staff is friendly and patient. The tablets and games are accessible for the kids to play with and clean. 👍

Checked in at 10:00AM for daughters 10:15 appointment, 11:00AM asked why It was taking so long to get called was told it was going to be 20 to 25 more minutes ppl that arrived after us were getting called in first, 11:31AM still didnt get called so I canceled her appointment and didnt reschedule, after her last appointment they scheduled her 2 months out for this appointment/procedure.

The wait time here is ridiculous! I dont think Ive ever had less than an hour wait. For treatment it was a two hour wait and the doctor had no idea who the patient was. The assistant definitely had an issue that day.

My fiancé and I bring our 4 children here. They range from 5-12 years old and all enjoy being there. From the secretaries to the doctors, our visits are always smooth and pleasant.

Today I took my son to an appointment here to get his teeth pulled from an accident he had on his bike. He is 7yrs old and has had good experiences with our past dentist he had in Albuquerque. We came here today and it was the worst experience ever!! My son is now scare of the dentist.. He was already very sore from his accident and needed his teeth pulled from it. The dentist took him back gave him some oral numbing gel and a little bit of laughing gas but didnt wait for it to kick in she ever asked him if his hands were feeling tingly or if he felt relaxed and he said no i feel the same.. She said well Im going to just go ahead and start and was pulling and tugging on his teeth and pulled both them out and my son was feeling it all and now traumatized from this experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place and WILL NEVER return here!! I am asking for my sons records and switching dentist. My son was not the only one this happened to. The lady who went before son with her child was upset because the female dentist did not wait for her child to be numb or relaxed either. Be aware if u go here and speak up for your child to make sure they are numb before they start working on them. I hope no-one else experiences what we did today

My child has special needs. He has ADHD and we are waiting on the referral to have him tested for autism. I have been taking him to Smileland Dental for years. I called yesterday to make an appointment as he was complaining of tooth pain and the lady helping me got him in the same day. I was grateful she was able to accommodate my need to get him in, however I felt a sense of dread overcome me prior to taking him to the office as one of the dentist have made me feel like a bad parent due to my childs poor dental hygiene. There are plenty of times where I brush my teeth with him as to model the process for him and there have been times I have tried a more hands on approach and tried brushing his teeth for him and he clenches his jaw making it impossible to brush his teeth. This time when we were called back the dental assistant was patient and kind to my son. Her approach was gentle and understanding. After the dental assistant had cleaned my sons teeth the dentist came over to tell me how bad my childs teeth were and how I needed to tell him to brush 3 times a day and floss. As I have tried to explain to her in the past about his behavioral problems and the difficulty I was having with him brushing his teeth she dismissed everything I said. She responded you dont have it written down in the paperwork. I told her of his ADHD diagnosis and that we are working toward having him tested for autism. Her response well which is he diagnosed with? She did not offer any sympathy and she was not understanding. She referred us out to UCLA to have my son get more dental work out there. I tried asking about other options as she walked away. I was directed to the appointment desk to be referred out to UCLA. I asked a dental assistant about other local options that offer anaesthesia for his dental work as the last time I went to UCLA I shelled out $1000 for dental work because their provider did not take medi-cal. I am struggling toward paying off his dental bill. I was directed to wait in the lobby as they tried to have me see another dentist. We waited for about 30 minutes and then approached the help desk where I had tried speaking with another staff member. I told her what was going on and how we were waiting for another dentist to see our son for a second opinion and to discuss different options. I felt my voice get louder as my emotions heightened. I’m certain I yelled at. Just know that this was not intentional and that I was just trying to get my child’s needs met and we were not receiving adequate help. In frustration and as not to escalate my anger I walked away leaving his dad to speak with someone else. As I was waiting in the car I guess his dad was speaking with another dentist or dental assistant about our sons teeth and received more recommendations and resources than what was provided to me. Why weren’t these recommendations offered when I was asking for them the first time not just at this visit but prior office visits. It is unfortunate that we did not receive these options until after I expressed my upset in a less than healthy way. The receptionist and dental assistants were helpful and sweet however the dentist treating children should undergo some sensitivity training. I felt personally attacked for my sons behavioral problems. I am doing my best to control my child’s behavior and raise him to be a polite and decent human. He had no behavioral outburst and was the most compliant when being directed by the dental assistant and dentist I have seen. Just as I am working on him with his behavior I am also working diligently trying to get him to take care of his oral hygiene. It is a daily challenge and this dentist made me feel like a horrible parent.

Never had a complaint about this place. My daughters never complain and love going to this dentist. The staff is super friendly.

Very nervous about bringing my four year old here considering the bad experience we had with a previous dentist office.Of course every child is different, every child goes in with no worries. I believe it all has to do with how they are treated and talked to.They told my son what they were going to do to him in a way he would understand. They made it fun for him. Also Communicated with me throughout the whole procedure. They constantly asked him how he was doing also asking me how I was doing. They really took care of my son. A double plus they are open on Saturdays 😁

I took my son to extract a broken tooth, and they extracted another tooth leaving the broken there. I don’t blame them, maybe he had another one not good, but the main reason for the appointment was for the broken tooth. They didn’t let me know they were going to extract a different one.

I experience something horrible With my daughter todayI was sitting in the room listening to the conversation the doctor And the assistant were having...The doctor was telling her in front of my Daughter... After this contracts is over Im never working with kids again.... This is coming from a doctor who Should act like A Professional...The doctors name I cant pronounce, it but she goes by..Dr. P. The assistance name its Monica....She didnt have much to say Other than OK.... this isnt the kind of conversations they should be having in front of their clients..... Specially when theyre being worked on..

Today was I quick and empty day at smileland dental. My visit with my kids were fast. We got 6 months cleanings and treatment done in the same day which is impossible on most days. The staff were friendly and very knowledgable about the treatment given to my daughter and the post instructions for her. Overall I do and would recommend this dental office to friends and family.

I have been client for many years, my children are happy when the letter of our appointment arrives, because they have maintained their oral hygiene very satisfactorily and it is a very pleasant place, and its very professional staff

The kids always enjoy going because they earn points to use on toys and they love the waiting area because of all the games. The staff is always friendly. The only thing to complain about is the wait. Its usually about 45 minutes in the waiting room before you make it in to the office.

I luv coming here! My daughter had a blast. At first she was really cranky and fought with them but they took the time to take her to a private room and calm down. They joked around with her and talked to her about her teeth and showed her what they were going to do. Once she calmed down, the visit went smoothly.

The staff is always patient with my daughter. They treat her with such care and they include her with very step of the way. They tell her what theyll be doing next and how itll feel to her when they do it. She likes that they include her, makes her feel a little less scared.

This place doesnt even deserve a star at all . I had been taking my daughter for a year now and no problem till now. Im so pissed that my daughter popped blood vessels all around her eyes and face and neck from screaming but what makes me even more mad is that everything didnt even take 15 mins before they were done and I honestly feel like my daughter felt everything and thats why she yelled the whole time and not even that they didnt even have the guts to tell me what had happened to her face like if I wasnt going to notice worse place to take a child so small for dental work . I will not ever take my daughter back and I will not recommended anyone either

Took my son there and they had alot of tablets to entertain the kids and they had Nick jr playing on the TV. They made him feel very comfortable. Just they wait time sucks but I guess it depends on the time you have your appointment.

I stopped going a few months ago because i noticed the dentist assistant walk in room not washing and not putting on gloves. She was gathering and opening the tools from bags with her bare hands!! Who knows where her hands been. They need better sanitary training! Wouldnt recommend this place!

Smileland dental is the best place for kids teeth treatment.The whole staff and doctors are dedicated to their work and profession .My kids never scared to go there.
