Ive been a patient at this office for 10 years. Ive always been happy with the service I have received.  I find the front desk staff to be efficient. Ive found the nurses who work with my doctor, Dr. Anthony Aventa, to have been professional. My appointments with Dr. Aventa are generally short, but this is because he has been able to sort through what Im saying to get to the root of the problem. This office doesnt routinely run behind on appointments, but if you need a same day appointment, you may be out of luck. There are some PAs who work here, but my experience with them has been hit and miss. The office has an online portal where you can contact them with questions and request appointments; you can also see bills, test results, and upcoming appointments.  Its very user-friendly.

I am saddened by my recent experience at Capital Medical Clinic. I went in for a routing physical and was billed for both an office visit and additional lab work, which was the result of a miss on the initial request. I discussed an ongoing physical symptom and was told that was the reason for the $200+ visit. I understand that insurance billing is difficult, by design. I just expected more communication from my doctor (should the conversation be deviating from the preventative care). I called billing to discuss and received a standard script response. I will no longer be a patient of Dr. Carrolls. I want a primary care doctor who is dedicated to my physical health and isnt looking to find a way to bill me extra. In this visit there was also some body shaming. While all results pointed to healthy I was told passively that maybe I could eat smaller portions. I actually had to ask if she was insinuating I needed to lose weight. This was based off the outdated BMI chart which seems quite controversial these days. I am writing this to truly warn potential patients. Be mindful that this office felt like a system and I was but a number. If you want personal care, this isnt it.

Called to establish primary care. They replied they are not accepting any new patients now, and also could not recommend me anywhere to go. Kind of a bizarre statement on both accounts. I would guess they have good physicians if they are sufficiently full that they do not need new patients, but it is strange to not have any recommendations for alternatives in that case.

This is the worst doctors office do not come here. The employees are horrible. Very rude and incompetent, most of the nurses shouldn’t be in medicine. Ungodly experience every time and makes the DMVs employees seem like angels.

Dr. Maldonado has been my PCP for 10 years. I have always received excellent care from him and the clinic staff. Yesterday I had an acute issue and the only short notice opening was with a physician’s assistant. I saw PA Josh Fink. He was outstanding. Josh paid close attention as I explained my symptoms and history. He had all my records at hand and asked lots of relevant questions. An extensive physical exam followed. I was given lengthy and detailed explanations then sent for labs.Josh seems very sharp, professional and friendly. He has a calm and encouraging manner. It was reassuring to get such robust medical care from an unknown with just a few hours notice. PA Josh Fink, Dr. Maldonado and the Capital Medical Clinic are highly recommended.

Ive seen my share of Dr.s in the Austin area and I finally found my home. Capital Medical Clinic front staff is welcoming and helpful. Dr. LaViolette is by far the best; she has an amazing bedside manner and truly cares. She answers all my questions and takes time to listen. I never feel rushed.

Had a great first visit with Dr. Carroll. She was recommended independently by two of my specialists and I agree that she’s a great principle in my care team. She was very thorough and inquisitive about my previous medical care. I also appreciate her level of concern and interest in my overall health. I highly recommend Dr. Carroll

Just an average review for a clinic that is, well, average. Not the friendliest staff, but, also not unfriendly. I did feel cared for but not necessarily cared about. I didnt always feel listened to, and it often felt like I didnt have choices in my own care- making decisions on whether or not I wanted to take a certain medication or not. If you want/like a doctor that makes firm decisions and is knowledgeable about the new/current/up to date medicine, and will quickly write a prescription, this is a great clinic for that. Personally, this didnt work for me so I have chosen to move on, BUT, I will give them that 4th star to make them slightly better than average because for this type of practice (one that tends to push medication/prescriptions), it is probably one of the better ones.

Do NOT go to Dr. Carroll. In all my years I have never seen a doctor more uncaring of her sick patients. Specifically her elderly patients. She needs to remember that sometimes it’s OK to still be a human.

Im so fortunate that my very thoughtful, retiring PCP convinced Dr Erica Carroll to accept her paitents. Dr Carroll takes the right amount of time with her patients. She clearly wants to get things right, and will not push you through too fast. She also has excellent PAs supporting her practice, whenever you need to see someone immediately. And they always get their prescriptions right. I dont know how she does it (while raising 3 little gals!)!

I am not writing as a patient of this office, but as someone that works at a specialist clinic trying to work with this office. I needed a specialist referral for a patient, so I called a week before their appointment, and I went straight to voicemail after being transferred. I left a detailed message and heard nothing back. I called again two days before that patients appointment hoping that my referral had been processed, and again, I went straight to voicemail after being transferred. I left ANOTHER detailed message asking for a call back about why my referral had not been processed... Still nothing. Finally, on the morning of the patients appointment, I called a third time and finally got a hold of a nurse. The nurse, not even acknowledging if my messages were received, just told me that Im out of luck because the patient did not meet the criteria for a referral. I would have appreciated a timely call back with this information, so I could have gotten a hold of my patient ahead of time, rather than call this patient a few hours before the appointment to cancel.

Dr. Kenneth Kroll is one of the most thorough doctors who has examined me. Hes very good with diagnosis and spending as much time as needed with a patient and he has a good bedside manner with those of us who dont like to be prodded and touched too much. I highly recommend him. Hes been my primary care physician for years.

Dr. LaViolette is the best! Shes been following me for six years and is a fabulous listener, a great diagnostician and someone who really cares about her patients. She goes to great lengths to make sure her patients are treated with respect and gives her complete attention to their visit with her. CMC rocks!!!

I called to set up an appointment with Dr. Maxwell, as he was listed as receiving new patients. Even though my husband has been a patient of the Clinic for several years, I was told I was not allowed to become a new patient of Dr. Maxwell, as I saw another doctor at the clinic once, over a year ago. The tone of rejection in the assistants voice was heartless.

Horrible place to seek help with your health. 6 months ago I went to my 3rd or 4th doctor within the practice (after not being treated like a human by the previous several doctors in the practice) and I am still dealing with debilitating headaches and see no sign of light nor the end of the tunnel. I have called and left voicemails for everyone from nurses to the office manager and still I have not gotten better nor a response that actually addresses the issue at hand. I have been treated as subhuman by everyone on the staff save for the one decent scheduler and the 2 PAs. I am constantly misgendered, I am constantly belittled for having to keep calling. I am now fully disabled by the issue I have been trying to address for over half of a year. This is the worst clinic in the history of clinics. I am not spending a single cent more on this place and will never step foot in the office again unless it is to sue the practice for malpractice and negligence. Go anywhere else but here. They would rather you stay sick, jump through hoops, and take as much of your time and money if they are able.Wish there was an option to leave Zero or Negative Stars because this place deserves none or less than none. Truly terrible. You are fired. You are terrible. You give physicians a really bad name.

Was unable to see a physician because they scheduled my appointment on the phone at a different time they scheduled it in their computer. Waited a month and a half for an appointment, showed up 30 minutes early, but because they had made a mistake on their end, i was turned away at the door and unable to see a physician. Double check your appointments because they do not send you confirmation emails or texts or accommodate you when they make a mistake. They said their next available appointment was in March, so i will have to take more time off from work in order to see a doctor.
