In November 2020, I switched from my old gym to Crunch. Crunch had all of the same amenities as my previous gym, plus free weights and a sauna. That was a game changer for me.In December, I began working with Kim Christen, one of the personal trainers. She immediately made me feel comfortable, listened to my goals, and reassured any doubts that I have. Kim has such a passion for helping and motivating her clients. I’m so thankful to be working with her. She is just one of the many amazing trainers available. I’ve had the please of working out with Matt Hayes for a session. Even though I’m not his usual client, I still felt like he cared about my general well-being and wanted to help me succeed. He still takes time to say hi and check in with how I’m doing. The staff genuinely cares about their members. It’s one of the many things I love about Crunch - Ann Arbor.

Crunch is a great gym with great staff. The gym is clean and well taken care of. I love that they have free weights as well as a nice HIIT area. Upon joining they give you a free session with a trainer where they take measurements and assess your goals. This was super helpful in determining my workout plan and I suggest everyone do it. I also do personal training once a week with Austin. Would definitely recommend him for training if you want a trainer!

I’m so happy I got a membership at crunch! I’ve tried a few different gyms in the area and this one has been the best so far. I’m SO grateful that I met Kim and have been able to train with her for almost a year. She’s been so supportive and challenges me in the best ways! She is genuine about her work and is always kind. Very pleased with my experience so far.

This is by far one of the best fitness faculties Ive seen in Ann Arbor. There is more than enough equipment to be used by people, and even in the busiest hours is generally available within minutes. On top of that, the equipment is well taken care of and clean. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and from my experience always willing to help. I cannot recommend this place enough of you are looking for a place to work out.

This place really needs a reliable staff. Scheduled openers can never make it on time, but somehow all of us show up at 5 am to workout. It’s very unprofessional and inconvenient to sit in the parking lot waiting for staff to arrive to unlock the doors. Move to 24hrs or actually hire people that can show up on time. My experience at Crunch has been great! Staff are always cordial and helpful, facilities are clean and well maintained, and traffic is never overwhelming to the point that Ive been unable to do what I need to do. A special shoutout to the PT team, Ive been working with Matt Hayes and he, along with the rest of the trainers, have been a great resource and motivation.

I like that this gym has plenty of open space, but why are there only 2 flat bench presses? Makes no sense given how much space there is. Theres usually a line of 2-3 people waiting for these benches. Get another bench and my rating will be 5 stars.

Okay, Im really conflicted on this as I do like this gym.... But I have to be honest here.Availability of Equipment 5/5Cost 5/5Atmosphere 5/5Safety 0/5Cleanliness 2/5The good:There is a lot of equipment here and I have not had a lot of problems getting on the equipment. The cost is low, with the lowest plan coming in at 10$/mo. And the atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and so are the people who workout here. Really awesome! The bad::There is some equipment in serious need of repair. The machine to do crunches on is missing the plat to hole the bolt in on the left arm causing it to start talking out. Ive pushed it in and alerted staff who have marked it as not usable due to safety. However the next day the sign is gone and the issue remains. Some lesser issues are wobbly arms on ellipticals, non-standard parts to get some machines working and large holes in the mens sauna. The mens locker room hasnt been cleaned in at least two days, I know this because the same muddy footprints have been on the floor and the same paper towels are closing the shower drain. If you put a bit of water on the floor in the mens room it turns brown due to the amount of dirt, needs a mop someday.I do like this gym, its just got some really bad issues. Do be careful. Here is my original review that was at 5 stars.Really good equipment, lots of options, a heavy bag, sauna and hydro massage chair. Really like this one. Oh, did I mention the price? 10/mo for a year sub.

Crunch is an excellent facility, their staff is friendly and helpful! I have been a crunch member since they opened, and have been very impressed with how clean they keep the gym, the wide range of gym equipment provided for everyone’s needs is amazing, they got free weight, cardio, HIIT, studio, classes you name it, and have onsite personal trainers if you just need that extra push to get results!I have been working one-on-one with personal trainer Matt Hayes, and have found his knowledge of exercise, form correction and creativity in the gym/equipment to be just what I needed to reach my health goals!Would highly recommend everyone check out crunch, or switch gyms - if you’re a planet fitness, LA fitness, orange theory fitness etc…switch to crunch!

Do not enter into a training agreement with anyone in a crunch fitness gym. They lied to me and said they were making an exception to allow me 1 month of training with a trainer and continued to charge me after that. I never used the sessions. Then I was told that they could not refund the money under any circumstances. Find a trainer somewhere else, super shady company with terrible customer service. Kim is the trainer manger and was terrible.

I started coming to this gym a few months ago and have been mostly happy with it. Things are spaced out well so I never feel crowded, I love how there are so many squat racks, and the gym and locker rooms are some of the cleanest I’ve seen. However, I’ve noticed recently that more and more people aren’t complying with the mask policy. I see members AND STAFF walking around with their masks below their noses or even lower sometimes. I get it, no one likes to work out with a mask on. Or wear a mask, period. But if this is what we have to do to keep the gyms from closing again, I’d say it’s a small sacrifice to make.I stopped going to to Ypsi location because people weren’t wearing masks. I was hopeful this location would stay compliant.

Been going to this location since it was Arbor-fit. Crunch is awesome, love the new equiptment, the staff is all super kind and helpful. The reason for my 3 star review is that the gym is simply WAY too busy and there is not enough free weight availability. Theres usually 2-3+ people in line for benches and squat racks.. I highly modified my workout to be able to do all in the HITT area, but now that crunch is running classes again, the area is often unavailable. Its very frustrating there isnt enough space, they kick everyone out of the HITT area to run a class for sometimes just 2 people...I wish crunch could nuke some of the (mostly unused) weight machines or cardio and replace them with another set of benches/dumbells or more squat racks. theres also the empty building space attached to crunch - maybe buy it and rennovate to more free weight space?

I don’t meant to give an offensive for other companies, this place is the best than other fitness company like planet fitness and la fitness because staffs doesn’t check on us, those environment are ok and overpriced is pretty reasonable. For crunch fitness, it make me motivated and confident since staffs show caring and respect. They have many great options to sign up as membership and there are many fun activities, sometimes bring a friend for free! Even, independently personal training without sign up because it is like to ask questions and being assisted because they always meet our expectations and goals! I really love this place! I would love to attend more! I wish there is ten stars I could give! I hope there is new crunch fitness to open in Ypsilanti!

Really disappointed. Membership was frozen during the shutdown and my account was charged when they started back up. I called to cancel and a representative told me that I was outside the 10 day cancellation window but if I emailed right away the cancellation would go through. I immediately emailed and received an email back stating I could not cancel because I was outside the 10 day window and would be charged again. I emailed again letting this person know I was told I could in fact cancel without charge according to the rep I had spoken with on the phone. I also stated that I was very concerned about working out in a gym during Covid and that I have underlying health issues. I asked them to not charge my account again. I received no reply to this email and today my card was charged again today. I definitely would have gone back when things are safer again but not now. Crunch doesn’t care about it’s members.

Received zero communication that gym had re-opened and only found out through the fact I had a new charge on my credit card bill. Decided to cancel membership and ask for a refund due to the whole COVID situation and not feeling comfortable going until things are more definitive. Contacted membership services aka Jessica about cancellation, and she was not helpful at all, saying that they had posted to their social media platforms that they were open-- assuming I follow them, which I dont, and that they had also sent out an email, which I didnt receive. My intent was to re-join again in the near future but this shortsightedness and lack of compassion for their clients in favor of short term gains vs long term makes me think otherwise. Having a happy, repeat customer is less expensive to acquire than recruiting new ones. Business 101, FYI.

Received a charge on my credit card after they re-opened without telling me I was still a member. If you shut your entire business down for months on end, you cannot assume that people are still members. Called and spoke with Jessica about reversing the charge and she spoke to me in a very condescending fashion, told me there is nothing she can do for me. Then the icing on the cake.. I received an email AFTER I was charged telling me I would be charged the following week. I was going to sign up again after I felt comfortable enough to enter a gym, but Im now taking my business elsewhere. This business is a joke. Shame on you Jessica, for providing me an unprofessional and non-customer centric experience.

Tried to cancel membership due to having a heart valve replacement and now being in the high risk category if I get COVID-19. Called was told I have to come in and fill out paperwork, then was told I could email the reason why I was canceling. I had a new charge of $1.97 on my credit card bill. Something to do with the last month they charged before being shut down. Thats ok, But to be charged an EXTRA month $39.99 because it was in some 10 day grace period they claim they have to be notified? Brenden (the manager) was absolutely NO help in this matter.

Charged the 50 dollar annual fee after they were closed over Covid got zero communication. Called the management to straighten it out and was given a number for a third party billing company. That company sent me back to the Crunch fitness, the local crunch fitness then said I would have to contact Corporate. However they didnt have a phone number for contact which seems suspicious. They also only have 3 flat benchs. All in all very unprofessional and disappointing.

For it’s a good gym. Clean, has lots of classes, the $40 membership is the best deal if you have kids. I’d say if you’re looking for an affordable gym with nice added benefits(child watch, hydro massage, guest can come with you every time at $40/mo) this is a good spot. I feel good about who’s watching my children too, which for me is the selling point.

I have been a member at Crunch Fitness - Ann Arbor for a few months now, and overall its a decent and clean gym.Reasons this review is less than 5-star:- Make sure you read your contract carefully. I signed up under the premise of $0 sign-up fee but after two months, I was charged an extra $49 for an annual fee, this was in addition to $45 /month. It was in the fine print, and I missed it.- There are no cycling bikes in the cardio area (only recumbent style). They have a room full of Schwinn Carbon Blue bikes, but the room is locked/not accessible outside of class times. When I asked about it - I was told this is corporate policy. I have been to other Crunch Fitness gyms that allow access to the cycling bikes at any time - why not this gym?- There are only two bench presses and four lifting platforms. During peak hours Ive waited 30+ minutes for a platform to free up.- They are terrible at answering emails, do not even bother.- This one is a bit picky, but - why are fitness centers still endorsing indoor tanning beds? A gym should be a place of improvement and health, not a place that encourages increased cancer risk. I would prefer to have access to a cycling bike versus this member perk.

I was a member of Arbor Fit and enjoyed the community feel of the gym. Unfortunately my husband and I moved away for work and canceled our membership in April 2019. I currently live in another state and have still been charged for July, August and September despite talking to two different people about canceling. I dont know if the Crunch transition contributed, but this is straight up unacceptable.

This gyms management lacks skills in customer service and conflict resolution. When I bought up a concern to management; first they ignored my feedback on the membership cancellation form expressing my frustration with the inaccurate information regarding the opening date of the Ypsilanti gym by management at the Ann Arbor gym and on the business Google listing for the Ypsi gym. I paid for the premium membership for the ability to attend both gyms.Management then refused to respond to my email requesting clarification on the continued charges after my membership was cancelled. I call the gym asking for clarification three times and the manager refused to take my call. When I went to gym to speak to the manager in person, she feigned surprised when I asked why there was no response to my email or calls. She told me she didnt about any of my requests for more information. When I explained the situation, she then stated my name and if I was the that person, which invalidated her earlier comment. When I showed her the information on the business website which lacked transparency regarding their policies, and she responded by belittling me and treating me as if I lacked basic intelligence.Imagine my surprise when I returned to my office, looked up the Google reviews and found that several other customers had posted frustrations about the same lack of transparency around cancellation and poor treatment by management. Its also telling that this owner only responds to positive reviews. Clearly my mistake in this situation was not reading the Google reviews before interaction with this business.Management had an opportunity to win me back as a customer if they had reached out and addressed the concern I noted on the cancellation form. Not only did they fail on a basic customer service level, but manager proceeding to treat me in a belittling way guaranteed I would become a detractor.Given that business publications regularly reference marketing research that shows; it costs between 5 and 25 times more to gain a new customer than to retain an existing one, it takes 12 positive reviews to offset a negative one, and a negative customer experience spreads 10 times faster that a positive one, I would like to say to the owner of this business good luck. Youre going to need it when your poor customer service policies catch up with your bottom line.Your gyms new shiny interior will not to make up for treating customers with disdain.

Read the entire terms-and-conditions contract very carefully. Crunch is not upfront at all about all the hidden fees and surprise conditions in the contract. I tried to sign up here three times, but each time I found something new buried in the contract that should have been stated clearly up front, so I held off. Now Im just going to go somewhere else. They really seem to me to be run like a sleazy business, and I dont need that in my life.
