David is an excellent hairstylist. I brought in photos of the type of haircut I wanted, and David took the time to customize it to flatter my face and explained why a certain length or proportion would work better with my hair texture and face shape. He asks questions like how much time do you spend on your hair? and do you air dry or blow dry your hair? to make sure hes giving me a cut and style that I can easily maintain on my own at home. Ive gotten so many compliments on my hair each time I leave Davids studio. David really takes his time to focus on the client and Ive never felt rushed. I highly recommend Weegee Hair Studio to anyone looking for a hairstylist.

David is patient, intelligent, and meticulous - a true craftsman. I went from long layers to a lob and then a blunt bob in a year. Every time I come in to see him with a new idea, I get to appreciate how hard he works to make it look good on me. You never feel rushed and he always gives you his full attention. Its truly refreshing to have someone so diligent and thoughtful do my hair.

I was intrigued by the 5 stars review and so I decided to give him a shot to do my hair. Then I quickly realized what a mistake! That’s because I never went to a hair stylist that would insist their ideas were better than the customers’. I knew what style I liked partly because I went to a beauty school too and know what’s style best for me. I thought I could trust him and understood my request or would do something better than the style I wanted. But he didn’t really listen or ignored my request to put layers until I said I didn’t like the style he did on my hair. I had to insist I wanted layers. He cut a bit too short and never asked me what length I wanted. The way he did layers was totally different than what I other hair stylists would usually do on my hair, pretty rough cut and not quite smooth. Had I not ask him to put some layers, my hair would have made me look much older than I am. Even my husband said I had better and smoother cut than this in the past. Do I recommend him to others? Well, he might have given amazing results to others based on the type of hairs he was comfortable of doing, but I personally won’t recommend anyone with a combination of coarse, a bit fine and some wavy hair like mine. Despite what he said was a long life experience of cutting hair, I found that his cut result on mine wasn’t the best at all and I totally regretted going to his studio. I know it’s just hair and it’ll grow but the amount I paid and end result, it was totally not worth it at all. I’ve paid between 35-75 per cut never really had much issues like this. So this is the worse experience I’ve ever had.

David, many thanks for fitting me in on such short notice. Im thrilled with my highlights and cut. Im so glad you suggested a warmer color - it made such a difference. I wish you had a clone here in Philly :)! Ill definitely be back next time Im in Ann Arbor.

This is one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. David really has an eye for detail and I feel like he has given me a style that really suits my face. It was a really good experience getting my haircut there.

David is absolutely magical at hair!! I’ve seen him on numerous occasions and I will never stop going to him! I had blonde hair last year and he did low lights in my hair perfectly to make the blonde pop. He never left any gold bands, which as a natural brunette is hard to do. Then, last week I went in and he dyed my hair back brunette and he completely matched my roots! I am shocked, but amazed. He also cut my hair to frame my face. He is great at imagining what the color and haircut will look like. Plus, he is the nicest man ever and we always have great, genuine conversations! I wish I could give him above 5 stars, he is that good.

My hair is extremely curly and bushy and so I have struggled for many years to find someone who knows how to cut this kind of hair. Everyone I have gone to in the past has either made me look even more like a curly Christmas tree or tried straightening my hair to try and bypass the difficulty of cutting curly hair altogether. Davids work, however, is truly exceptional! He really knows what hes doing and he is clearly experienced and knows exactly how to work with different kinds of hair. I am finally able to enjoy wearing my hair down! He truly knows how to best style hair so that it works well with your face and he is extremely knowledgeable on all matters hair related, be that what shampoos work best for certain textures or how to treat layers for different lengths and styles of hair. I would absolutely recommend him.

David is an absolute master of hair! I am so sad to have moved away because I got SO many compliments while he was doing my hair! He really takes his time to study your face. His cuts are phenomenal, some of the best I have ever had. The color path he chose for me was the best ever! Seriously, so many compliments, because it flattered my skin in a way that was perfect and subtle. I am having a really hard time finding someone new that can come close to his talent. He is a GEM!

I’ve been getting the impression lately that true professionalism is gradually disappearing from the service industry. Whether it’s your painting contractor, your financial adviser, or your hairdresser, most times you brace yourself for a disappointment just in case. Not here! Weegee Hair Studio is a one-man operation, and this man unequivocally cares about doing his best every time. I get my hair trimmed and highlighted every 8 weeks or so. Initially, David started with one-color highlights, and I was perfectly happy with the result and asked for the same on my subsequent visits. After about a year, he suggested adding a second color variation to achieve a warmer look. I was initially resistant, but eventually he convinced me to try it. And the slight change he initiated was fantastic. David is the smartest hairdresser I’ve ever met; he seems to be a true expert in color chemistry and how the structure of your cut relates to your facial features. He does not just go thru the motions every time you sit down in his chair, but actually thinks about how he can further enhance your look in step with the evolving trends. The salon itself is small but immaculate and has a chic, modern vibe. David has the coolest and most comfortable, Eames inspired chairs. This is a true pocket of quality and professionalism in Ann Arbor.

Better than any salon I went to in New York City and 1/4 the price! Ive never had so many compliments on my color!
