Examination process was excellent.After the detailed examination,I left confident that the prescription received was accurate.Have not had a better examination experience in the past 30 years.However, the purchase process for contacts and glasses was convoluted at best.Contacts must be picked up in person as they will not mail them to your home address.When using insurance or discount programs,cost/benefit amounts change with each person involved in the purchase process.Contact and glasses purchased appear to be facilitated by different groups of people who do not converse with one another.Therefore, it is difficult to know exactly how much money is needed to complete purchases before the card is handed over.This process breeds apprehension and lends itself to distrust.Would have been nice to have the cost breakdown in writing for the complete purchase of contacts and glasses together rather than the outpouring of the ever changing verbal.Please note: the staff members I encountered appeared kind and behaved in a gracious manner.The process - not the people - is lacking in clarity.I highly recommend Advanced Eye Care for eye examinations just not the purchase of contacts or glasses.

My kids LOVE this yearly appointment. We were early and they were able to see us without hardly any wait at all. Friendly, helpful staff, and Dr. Appel is so good with addressing the parent and also the kids.

I cannot express how wonderful, friendly and professional the staff and Dr. Vanessa Anderson are. They literally rescued me from the highway on a recent trip from Houston to Colorado. Although they had never seen me before , they made an appointment for me immediately, even though it was lunchtime. Turns out I never made it to Colorado because I had a detached retina which required immediate surgery. Thanks to Dr. Anderson’s quick diagnosis and referral to an awesome retina surgeon, Dr. (Eddy) Ysasaga, I am back in Houston getting my vision back!! I highly recommend Advanced Eye Care!

My wife tried to call this place to book an appointment for herself and me, but the lady that she spoke with (I assume the receptionist) was very rude to her. She refused to answer any of my wife’s questions, and then put her on hold and proceeded to hang up the phone a second or two after. If this is how they like to treat people, we will gladly take our business elsewhere.

The experience at Advanced Eye Care was very pleasant I took my two daughters and the staff was very professional. Dr. Cowan was very nice and good with my girls it was their first eye appointment and over all a very positive experience.

Entire staff from check in to check out was super friendly and helpful, Dr Dabney and the rest of the staff was very professional and sympathetic to the pain I was in when i arrived for my first visit and was able to help bring me to an immediate comfort level after having a tear across my cornea. The same care and compassion was received at my follow up visit. Will definently be switching to this facility for all future ophthalmology needs. Would highly recommend them to anyone!!!!

Always a 5 star experience! The staff is very friendly and technicians are very gentle and tell you exactly what they are doing before they do it so there’s no unpleasant surprises. I have a complex eye prescription and Dr. Anderson and her team were patient, listened to my concerns and did a very thorough exam. They were willing to try / discuss all my options and were so helpful. Highly recommend this office for anyone needing eye care! Five stars for sure!

The staff is very welcoming and extremely helpful all throughout the process. Personable and friendly is not enough to describe the atmosphere. The Dr. listened to my concerns and got my prescription back to normal in a timely manner. My children will be getting a check-up soon.

I love coming here for my eye care needs. I see Dr. Taylor. And she really is so so sweet. She’s so patient and kind. She is thorough and explains everything. My eye situation is a little more complex, and she makes it seem like a breeze. The staff is kind. My visit is always quick and completed in a timely manner. I won’t go anywhere else. My daughter and I went in for vision exams. My adult son already goes to AEC and we expected to have a great experience and I am so glad to say we were not disappointed! We saw a different doctor (Dr. Thomas) than my son sees (Dr. Anderson), but the experience was everything we could want. I had to get glasses and Holly was fantastic and patient in helping choose just the right frames and lenses for my needs. We are so happy to be getting our eye care at AEC!

Outstanding service and care. Dr Hawkins is extraordinary and truly cares for her patients and the health of their eyes. I recently had a significant eye problem and she made sure I was seen ASAP. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I went back for a check up with Dr Hawkins and she ran additional tests to ensure I knew what was going on and what to expect in the future. Couldn’t ask for a better eye doc. I trust her and recommend the services at Advanced.

Very friendly and knowledgeable

I was visiting on an extended trip from out of town and needed to order new contacts before I ran out. I went to Advanced Eye Care Amarillo on the recommendation of my mother, who was a long-time satisfied customer. The office was extremely busy when I went, and as a result, I did have to wait a long time and the appointment felt a bit rushed and disorganized, which is understandable. However, when it came time to check out and order my contacts, I informed the person ordering that they should be billed to my insurance as medically necessary, as I have such a high prescription that glasses are almost useless. The girl who was checking me out had never heard of this and referred me to Brenda, who, without bothering to ask my doctor or anyone in the office with a medical background, proceeded to tell me repeatedly for the next two weeks that I do not, in fact, need medically necessary contacts. I contacted my insurance company to verify that my contacts are medically necessary and was told that they are, and told Brenda as much. I showed her my previous contact receipts, which show where my insurance paid for the contacts in full minus my copay. I even had my usual optometrist fax my records to her showing that they had billed the contacts as medically necessary in the past. Finally, I had to resort to getting my usual optometrists office to speak with her for her to even consider asking whether or not I needed medically necessary contacts. Even then, she refused to order them, and I was advised by my usual optometrist to give them my prescription so that they could order my contacts, since apparently, Brenda was unwilling to. Although this required I forfeit the $200 allowance towards the exam cost through my insurance, it was well worth it by that point to not have to deal with Brenda any more. I can certainly understand not knowing all the ins and outs of insurance billing, as it is a complicated business with plenty of red tape, but all she had to do was have the courtesy to go and ask the doctor who had seen me. This would have taken at most a day or two and my situation would have been resolved. Instead, it was drawn out for weeks, and when she finally called me to tell me that I was correct the entire time and offered to order my contacts, she maintained a condescending attitude and did not even offer an apology for refusing to look into it. Rather than apologize, she insisted that nothing in the situation was her fault, because after all, she didnt realize that my contacts were medically necessary. However, while I can forgive not knowing, all she ever had to do was go and ask the doctor who saw me. Instead, she treated me very rudely and wasted two weeks of my time when I was already very low on contacts which are medically necessary for me. Both of my parents now refuse to return and I will certainly never return to this optometrists office again.

***UPDATE***The office called and got us in with a different provider that does not require the deposit. I appreciate the professionalism and reaching out to amend the situation. We will see Dr. Anderson and Im sure will love her just as much as Dr. Cowan.I have been a patient of Dr. Cowan since I moved to Amarillo in 1999. I love him and his humor. I called today to schedule my familys annual exam as normal. There are 5 of us, and typically they get permission from the doctor to schedule all of us at the same time. This time; however, I was told that we would have to pay a deposit of $10 per person scheduled if scheduling more than 2 at the same time. I work in healthcare. I understand it is huge if someone no shows or cancels last minute with 5 appointments. I could totally see doing this for someone that has a history of missing appointments. I have never missed an appointment with this office in the 20 years I have been a patient. Granted, the $50 would go toward our copay/deductible, but its the principle of the matter. Instead, I scheduled appointments with a new provider. Im heartbroken, because again, I love Dr. Cowan. But I will go somewhere that respects my time and money and doesnt expect me to make 3 different trips to the same office.

They are always fast and beyond efficient! They always have the in-styles; which is a drawback too. We base glasses of what looks best with face shapes that our family has, which aids in feeling classic and confident with whatever we have on. That is literally the ONLY drawback I could say about AEC. We have all of our kids go and one set of parents, waiting for the other parents to jump on board too 😊 Thank You AEC for always being patient, kind, respectful, and beyond helpful!!
