I hate going to the dentist but Altoona Smiles has definitely changed that. I used to get a lot of anxiety when going but they made me feel very comfortable being there. Great customer service, amazing communication and beautiful facility. Very catering to my preferences. Definitely recommend going there!

Im not one to write reviews. This one is necessary. I was driving by Altoona Smiles, saw their sign, Cosmetic Dentistry. I walked in, completely random, told them Id like more info on cosmetic work since I had a broken front tooth. I fully expected, Well fit you in 2 weeks from now.Not only did they take me in immediately & fix a broken front tooth, the staff was welcoming, friendly, informative, compassionate and appreciative of the business.Too many favorite parts of this group to mention! I immediately told my entire family, This is our new dentist group! Make your appointments.Lisa, Jensen, Nicole, Michelle....way to go team! And Thank you!

I absolutely LOVE Altoona Smiles. Most people dont look forward to a trip to the dentist, but I enjoy (as much as possible) every trip! The staff immediately greets you and makes you feel welcome. Their check in process is smooth and quick. Ive had nothing but great experiences with the hygienists and dont get me started on Dr Jenni! Both her and her support staff are careful, gentle, and do a great job of explaining all of their work. Ive been in and out in 45 minutes or less every time. I will continue to go back over and over again as I love supporting good people doing good business.

If you want the best dental care you have ever had, go see Dr Eric. I had a crown and a bridge done and the procedure went great. He will make sure you are comfortable at all times. Always making sure you are doing ok. You will love his staff too. The minute you walk in you are greeted with a friendly voice. They offer you something to drink while you wait. Love Altoona Smiles! This was our first time at Altoona Smiles, & we had a great experience. Everyone was very helpful & kind. We both(my wife & I) need lots of dental work done, & they were so helpful in walking us through this experience & in working out financing. I only wish wed have been going to them a long time ago!I would highly recommend this dental office!! The receptionists, dental assistants, dentists, & our care coordinator were all excellent!! They made us feel like theyd known us forever, even though it was only our first visit.

Customer service from the moment I walked in the door was beyond professional. They got me into the office right as my appointment was scheduled, asked me if there was anything I needed, and offered a lot of complementary goods. Dr. Jenny did a great job, and I will definitely be going back again in the future!! Highly recommend.

Dr. Nicole and EVERY heigenist that has ever cleaned my teeth or prepared me for a procedure has been top notch!!! I even asked today if all of these people were this good straight out of school, and they told me they all receive internal training to reach these high standards. It shows. From a person who has extreme dental anxiety, this is your place!!! The quality of their work is second to none!!!

I just had a root canal this morning. I’ve never had one before. My cavity repairs at other dentists were 10x worse than a root canal at Altoona Smiles. They listened carefully to my concerns about numbing and made absolutely sure I was okay and comfortable through every step. Dr Nicole has restored my faith in dentistry!I haven’t been to a dentist in a long time. The receptionist was great at putting me at ease when scheduling my visit. The technician and dentist were both incredible at giving me the information I needed. I was worried that such a large office would feel like a factory. It was not like that in the least. The dentists are incredibly nice, gentle, and knowledgeable. Going to the dentist can be stressful especially for kids but they are exceptional with my 6 year old and 2 year old. My 6 year old remembers that she gets a little prize at the end of the appointment and looks forward to going. They just moved to a very fancy new building.

My 2 year old son was seen today at Altoona Smiles for his very first dental appointment - and our first time as visitors to this dental group. The staff was wonderful. The two women at the front desk outstanding - quick, efficient, and friendly. Once we went back, my son had an epic meltdown (sorry everyone) during his cleaning and the Hygienist and the Doctor were more than compassionate and kind to me/him during the whole ordeal. They were patient and got the job done while not making me feel self conscious about my screaming child. It was a bad moment for Mom/son but they did the best they could and I appreciate their support. Wonderful staff at this beautiful, new location. Highly recommend!

I always enjoy going into Altoona Smiles! That may seem strange going into a dentist’s office, but the staff and doctors are always happy and have a smile on their face. Dr. Eric explains what is going on and if any procedure needs to be done, he will tell you why. My kids even enjoying going to the dentist. And for this Mom, that is a HUGE win! In fact, Kelli helped my daughter get over her initial fear of getting her first fillings! Thank you for all you do!

I had my wisdom teeth taken out today. I have high anxiety when it comes to dental procedures. That is mainly due to the fact I know too much about the medical side of things. I am a veterinary technician and have been apart of numerous dental procedures on pets, human dentistry isnt too far off. Today went way better than I expected. Dr. Eric and his assistant Jeni were great!! I was very pleased with how today went and wished I had done this sooner, but my fear/anxiety made me delay things. The process from start to finish wasnt bad. I highly recommend this dental practice. My husband and children come here as well as some of my other family members. I cant recommend Altoona Smiles enough!!! Thank you!!

Like most people Im not a fan of the dentist, but yet I do my best to visit every 6 months to keep the pearly whites healthy. My wife and I recently switched Dentist offices to Altoona Smiles and next to marrying my wife this has been the best decision EVER! The staff surpasses EXCELLENT customer service. I cant think of a word that describes the level of personalization, comfort, knowledge, understanding, warmth, and genuine care towards us. It felt as if I was visiting family! We have been to a number of dentist office and this is hands down the BEST Ive ever been to. I can honestly say I look forward to my next visit and a long lasting relationship with our new dental family!

I had been avoiding going to the dentist for about 7yrs and ended up having a filling come out. Nicole did the initial exam to anything worse than a filling that needed replace and Eric gave me the filling. Both were great experiences where they take the time to explain and answer any question you may have. I also, had another filling come lose the night before the first filling was replace. Eric took the time to look at this during the same appointment for the first filling.Overall, the experience is different than other dentists I have been to, or Dr. appointments in general. They mold the experience to be as comfortable as possible so it is about you being happy and satisfied, and not giving you a typical experience where you enter and leave being apprehensive about having your teeth taken care of.

Dr. Eric is awesome!!! He is so good at what he. He is genuine, kind hearted and down to earth. My family appreciates having him and his whole staff on our corner. If your looking for a great dentist I recommend Dr. Eric you will not be disappointed.

I had horrible tooth pain this week and ended up having to go in for an emergency dentist appointment. I had a hard to diagnose case and had to go to the endodontist. Still hard to diagnose. Back to Dr. Eric and Dr. Nichole. They didnt give up on me and helped me deal with the pain and bent over backwards to get me back in with no notice to the endodontist. Finally, we figured out the problem and got it taken care. The level that they care here is amazing and they didnt give up trying to figure out what was going on. Finally, after dealing with horrific pain for over a week, Im fixed! Thank you to the whole staff at Altoona Smiles for always getting me in and helping me out! I hate going to the dentist more than anything but if I have to, its Altoona Smiles all the way!

I have been scared to go back to the dentist for over 20yrs, due to a bad experience at another office. When I arrived at Altoona Smiles I was greeted and am always greeted like family. The staff listened very carefully to my concerns and needs and have been very sensitive to those concerns and needs every time I have an appt. I had good experiences with Altoona Smiles up until about a year ago when I had such a negative experience I decided not to return.At the last appointment I had with Dr. Nicole, I declined x-rays as I had just had x-rays done 6 months prior at my last appointment.I was told that it was policy to do them at every single visit, but I was paying out of pocket and thought this was way too frequent regardless. Dr. Nicole and the dental hygienist kept pressuring me to do the x-rays and said they would not break their policy and would not do my cleaning without them.I had driven all the way from Ankeny and taken off of work for this appointment and I did not appreciate this attempt to strong-arm me into doing something I clearly was uncomfortable doing.I left and never went back and I dont regret switching to another practice.EDIT: Im unable to reply to the reply from Dr. Nicole so Im replying here. As explained in my review, I had already taken x-rays 6 months prior. I was being asked to take x-rays twice within a 12 month period.

Got me in super quick when I was having tooth pain! Very clean and beautiful office with the friendliest staff! Was able to schedule another appointment at the end of the week to have some work done rather than having to wait multiple weeks. This will definitely be my new dentist office!

My 4 year old son had to have some cavaties filled and Dr. Heather and her assistant April were wonderful. They were calm, relaxed, gentle, kind and, used kid friendly language, and explained to him what they were doing every step of the way. We as parents were well informed and in the room the whole time and my son had his comfort items with him (blanket and stuffed animal). I felt the appointment went as well as it could have considering it was a 4 yr old getting filings. Highly recommend.

Dr Eric is a one-of-a-kind dentist that is hard to find anymore. He has a great personality and really listens to your questions and concerns. The staff is amazing as well. Dr Eric was amazing and gave it to me straight, he was very nice and friendly and I would definitely recommend him to anyone 😀 Jeni his dental hygienist was amazing also she held my hand and rubbed my arm while Dr Eric was giving me the needles with the anesthetic cause Im a chicken! But I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a great dentist that will give it to you straight and is good at looking after your needs and they will cater to your needs as well.

I had been having a hard time finding a clinic to get a tooth pulled and possibly a couple cavities filled. I saw a post about the free dentistry day and decided to stop in. I registered and was called back. I had my teeth fully cleaned, three cavities filled, and a tooth extracted in a couple short hours. The facility itself was beautiful, the staff are extremely nice and inviting, and the dental care was wonderful. They took great care of me and I will be returning for my regular dental care.

They are the friendliest staff ever. My children love going to the dentist, because they are amazing. They work with you and really try to help you in every way they can. They really care about their patients. The first time I went I waited literally maybe waited 2 minutes in the room, while the nurse went to find something and they came back and apologized for how long I waited. I am in and out faster than I have ever been at any dentist before. I would not go to anyone else. I was having cold sensitivity after they did a filling to my tooth roughly 6 months after for a 6 month check up and he took a look and did what he could to correct the issue, without any fuss, or trying to charge extra. I love, love, love this place. I couldnt express how amazing they are! 5 stars all the way around, heck if I could give more I would! Very clean place and very up to date equipment. *Just an added note, they take feedback really well, they ask what they can do to improve your visit every time I am there.* To this date I have thought of nothing, because they are the BOMB!

I can not say enough wonderful things about this office and its staff. We are new to the area and had to change dentist offices. Our first visit they took the time to introduce us to the majority of the staff and show us the exam rooms which my daughters that was pretty cool.My daughters had to come in for their cleanings and absolutely loved Shelby and Dr. Heather. They did an amazing job at explaining everything that was going to be done and all the instruments that had to be used. That helped to put them at ease and made them feel a part of the visit and not just a patient My oldest had to come back a week later to have a filling taken care of. She was so nervous but Shelby and Dr Heather did a wonderful job and she did amazing. I think they had her so calm she tolerated the shot better than I do :) The same day my daughter had her filling she had a little accident at school a few hours later and bit her lip while it was still numb. We were worried about the injury and Altoona Smiles got us in right away to have it checked out. I felt bad for taking up their time but they were so sweet about it . The front desk staff is wonderful and always polite. I am so thankful to have found such an amazing office to take my kids !!! I highly recommend this office and Dr. Heather with Shelby. This was my second visit to Altoona Smiles and I was so pleased with their services yet again! Having dental work makes my anxiety CRAZY but Dr. Nicole made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I told her we could definitely be friends outside of the office 😉. The environment is clean, modern, and inviting and they go to great lengths to ensure you’re comfortable. They have state of the art tools and machines to make sure your teeth at their optimal health. If you need a warm blanket, ear plugs, phone charger, chapstick—they’ve got it for you! We just moved from Southwest Missouri a few months ago and I’m so grateful I found Altoona Smiles and Dr. Nicole. You won’t be disappointed!

My mom has always been afraid of the dentist but when she started going to Altoona Smiles she loved it so much that she insisted I go there too when I moved to Des Moines. I’ve never had dentist fears so I didn’t expect to have a very different experience, but I was blown away when I went to my first appointment. The atmosphere is nicely decorated and calming, the staff is super friendly and accommodating, and you get your own private room with a menu of things that might make your short stay more comfortable. Due to personal reasons, I had to go to a different dentist for a while but always looked forward to coming back to Altoona Smiles. I’m happy to say that I will be able to do that very soon! Definitely check out Altoona Smiles if you’re in the market for a new dentist (or, honestly, even if you’re not!).

Emily was my hygienist and she was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with me. This was my first experience at a dentist where the hygienist didn’t rush through my cleaning and was careful with the flossing. Very nice clinic and friendly staff all around.

After going to the same dentist for 25 years, moved from east coast was nervous to switch dentist however, Very friendly, outgoing and answer ALL questions or concerns. They do great with our kids (ages 5 under). Nicole has assisted us with our check ups, procedures besides cleaning & always reviews our appointments with us. Nicole is very sweet, gentle during ANY mouth care, caring and shows she’s there for her job & to do it right (along with hygienists & assistants- Sabrina was awesome!) After spending a large amount of money at Altoona Smiles, I went to a different dentist that was able to diagnose and help with the pain I was experiencing. I dont think the dentist listen to the patient at Altoona Smiles.

Went in to have my gums deep cleaned. It went great. I was pretty nervous but the whole process was virtually painless. Dallas did awesome and I would totally recommend her for a hygienist.

They extracted two teeth fast and efficiently. Before I could say ouch they were finished! Im so glad I went in. Ill be back!

Best dentist office I can recall going to....ever.. very clean, very professional, and very knowledgeable! Not to mention they are open SATURDAYS! I will gladly drive from waukee for next foreseeable visits!

This is probably the best dentist office. The doctors are trustworthy and professional. The ladies make you feel right at home and are always in a good mood. I can honestly say that I enjoy going to the dentist now. No matter what the procedure is, I have no worries since the staff makes the difference. I would consider spending time there for my morning coffee to start my day, since everyone likes to have fun.

Excellent experience as always. Everyone on staff is super friendly. It is by far the best place I have ever gone to for dental care. My dental hygienist Erica did a great job being careful with the braces in my mouth. They were newly adjusted and my mouth was still tender. She was very gentle did a wonderful job. Dr. Brummels was great as always and happy to see my progress towards healthy teeth.

1st of all they cater to COWARDS! For me it was a little weird being so relaxed at the Dentist!! The Staff are very friendly and warm, that really put me at ease. It made me feel like they were treating me, not just trying to do assembly line dentistry. I was taken around on a tour and introduced to everyone that would be treating me, never had that happen at a Dental office ever! The Dentist Dr. Brummel has a terrific, infectious personality.!! Definitely my new Dentist!! I received welcome gift, a nice water bottle😁 everything was fun, smooth, and personalized ! Thanks you Gals for making this chicken comfortable enough to want to come back!!! 😜

The staff of Altoona Smiles is amazing. The receptionist is bright and cheerful and the hygienists are superb! My daughter is 3 years old and gets excited to see her favorite medical professional, Dr. Nicole. I am truly blessed to have found such an amazing, family friendly dentist. We always leave with a bright smile and the confidence we desire!

Dr. Eric was great with my 4 year old son. My son was very nervous and worked up, but left with a big (clean) smile on his face the dental hygienists were also so awesome and friendly and patient. The office was clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the care and service we received there, and we are definitely going back!
