I found out that I had rectal cancer in January of this year. My GI doctor referred me to Dr. James Harris, MD. I want to share with other readers that this man has got it going on! He is supposedly one of the best colorectal surgeons in the Southeast, and it shows with his skills, experience, and expertise. I sometimes didnt understand why he made some of the decisions that he made concerning issues in between my surgeries, but I knew that he knew what he was doing and he had my best interests in mind while making his decisions.I had a Lower Anterior Resection with Ileostomy Reversal and I had a complication in my body that kept the bag on two months longer than it was supposed to be on. I had to go to the ER several times, and Dr. Harris was ALWAYS there trying to find a way around my complication and get me fixed. That day finally came on July 31st after he did a flexible sigmoidoscopy so we scheduled appointment for Monday September 31st. No more Ileostomy bag! .....and..... I am cancer free! Kudos to Dr. Harris and his staff. His Nurse Angie is wonderful. Deb is easy and pleasant to schedule with. His PA, Janelle, is very helpful and accurate with helping Dr. Harris with clinic visits and prescription refills. If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing colorectal attention that might require surgery, I would look no further than Dr. James Harris. He really has it down. I think he likes to be called Jim.Great job, yall! Thank you for saving my life and I apologize for coming across too strong at times.

This practice has a terrible office staff. The front desk receptionist was rude and unfriendly. Definitely not a people person and in her position that should be a must. She was very unorganized and had me waiting only half checked in while she was trying to find someone elses appt as Im standing there. After finally being checked in, I proceeded to wait...for an hour after my appt time. I went back to the receptionist to ask her how much longer it would be and she told me that they were backed up because they had an emergency, and that there were 3 more people in front of me. Okay we all understand emergencies and things happen. We can all agree on that. What I dont understand is why she or someone in the office notified all of us sitting in the waiting area and give us the option to reschedule. I guess they dont think that anyone has anything better to do. When I how long would it be for me to be seen, it would have been another hour. If they cant manage their office and appointments efficiently, what kind of care should I have expected. For another surgeon and definitely not going back to this cattle farm

Dr. Weatherford is a wonderful doctor. I was referred here after my primary doctor discovering a large clot blocking several veins in my upper arm. Dr. Weatherford explained thoroughly what was going on and what caused my clots. He presented several options for treatment to me, and he told me what he recommended without trying to push it on me. He was professional, knowledgeable, and always patient with my questions.

My appendectomy went fine, however my incision was jagged and instead of one incision like I was told, I had three. Never saw the surgeon after my surgery, was given no post op instructions. My follow up was scheduled a week past normal due to availability. Once I was at my follow up I waited an hour and forty minutes before I saw the surgeon. I was put with this practice because the surgeon who was supposed to do my appendectomy had a more emergent case unfortunately. I would not recommend this practice at all. Very unorganized.

I am indebted to Dr. Harris, and his associates, for doing such a fantastic job taking care of my intestinal surgery. He explained the alternatives and gave me advice in a way I could understand. The surgery went well at NHCRMC, and he checked up on me daily. The hospital & staff was fantastic also.1,000,000+ thanks to Dr. Harris and Carolina Coastal Surgery.

My father has been a patient for years at this facility, thank God he knows his body and after being told everything was fine and to return in 6 months he went and got another Vascular Dr who did a CT with contrast of his carotid artery. Days after ended up having surgery. He is tonight in the hospital recovering. He had a huge clot just waiting to detach. His new doctor told him how bad the artery was and so lucky to catch that clot. I can say thank God he is alive today, after going with his gut and finding new eyes on him. Moral of the story is I don’t know if under this offices care he would be alive recovering tonight had he not went for another opinion.

The surgery itself went well, except they had to make a bigger incision then normal to get the gall bladder out, which is fine. But the staff doesnt seem to care that my wife is in a lot of pain after. She was given enough pain meds to get her through maybe 3-4 days if she took it as prescribed. She has had to ration the pain meds where she doesnt take any at all during the entire day, just so shell have enough at night for a week or so she can at least sleep. Went to the office after them not returning my 3 voicemails, for a refill and even explained she hadnt been taking even the prescribed amount, and they said they wont give her any more. Its BS, I dont recommend this place for surgery AT ALL.

The team of specialists here, from the front desk on, are professional and kind. As a Nurse Practitioner, I see the things the public may not and the facility is top shelf as far as privacy, cleanliness and caring. Dr. Weatherford and his entire team worked with me to produce outstanding results. I now have painless, good looking legs again! The whole experience was terrific and I thank you all.

Dr. Harris is excellent. Very professional. Went over the procedure with me, made sure I understand, answered any questions I had in laymans terms. His bedside manner is very good. Joking with me just before the operation to alleviate any anxiety.

Very friendly with excellent care. At 66 yrs old and having my first surgery ever and my first hospital stay, Dr Harris was very positive and understanding of my fears.
