Dr. Sato has been my sons doctor since the NICU. My son was born at 26 weeks, premature and Dr. Sato would visit him at TMC because my son was born with a flat disk and was at risk for retinopathy and eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma. With Dr. Sato observing closely to my son, and being consistent with appointments, tests, and prescription changes, my son got better! Weve been going to Dr. Sato for almost 11 years now. Dr. Sato is an expert and I wouldnt go to anyone else.

Appointment was schedule for 9:30 am. Was told to arrive early to fill out paper work. Got there ar 9:15. Sat in a over crowded lobby that had not been cleaned in ages according to the piles of dust everywhere, for an hour and 15 minutes. After an hour wait I could not take it any longer. I asked when my child would be seen. 15 minutes later I was brought to an exam room where I waited another 40 minutes.Insane.Doctor comes in and the appointment takes literally less than 10 minutes. I waited nearly 2 hours with a upset 6 month old.So biggest flaw was of course their scheduling. There was not an empty seat in their lobby. 20 or so parents and their children.Their entertainment room for children was sincerely sad. Could have atleast gave them some cardboard boxes...Nothing in the facility was clean( pictures attached)Exam rooms are just small boxes with what looks like shower chairs. Random artwork desplayed.Just an overall horrid experience.

I wish there was and option for 10 stars ⭐️ Dr. Sato is the definition of a pediatric professional 🙌🏻 He’s a soft spoken but very friendly man who’s been in practice for so long ,clearly because of his passion to his profession! My daughter was very scared about having to have an eye exam. I even demonstrated it for her at my appointment but it wasn’t enough to cure her concern. By the grace of God he was able to do the exam using the manual method. He helped to identify an issue with her vision and made great recommendations. Best of all my Daughter felt comfortable and received the care she needed. I will be singing his praise for as long as I can.

The reason for my 3 stars is the staff was very friendly, all of them were wearing masks and being very great with my daughter. No problems with the doctor she was great. But the wait time was crazy. Her appointment was for 1, they bring us back after us maybe sitting in the lobby for 2 minutes. I was impressed, very quick to get her into the back to get her eyes dilated. Which is only a 30 minute process is what the nurse had stated. By the time my daughter was seen by the doctor it was 2:50. So she got her eye drops at around 1:10 and we waited over an hour and a half to get her actually checked out by the doctor. This seems to be a scheduling overload as the lobby was packed! It was crazy how many people were there especially with covid. If they only have 2 doctors at this office I do not understand why there were 10 kids waiting all at the same time. This should definitely be looked at. Maybe only scheduling 2-4 kids an hour because the dilation process. My daughters actual check up with the doctor was only 5 minutes at most. I dont recommend making any other appointments or plans for the day if you are coming here.

If I could leave no stars I would. THIS DOCTOR IS HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD!! I took my daughter in yesterday her eye was bleeding from the inside out. Her primary sent us back to him. We get there in a packed lobby but its going by quick. We get to the back doc comes in looks at her eyes for 3 seconds and said she has a cut on the outside of her eye mind you we just left primary and blood is coming out with tears not a scratch on the outside of her eye. So we tell him no its blood coming from the inside. He stars talking to his assistant but us as parents want to know whats going on. So we ask and he said I dont know whats going on then my husband said isis it getting worse the doctor said in a ride tone how am I supposed to know well you just seen her last week he forgo. He is just horrible and the medication from last time made her eye bleed. Just protect your kid.

Wore it less than 10 days. At the next appointment (because the glasses took a while), he does not need glasses anymore. HE IS CURED!!!. Was this a miracle or did I just got ripped off?

I have been going to Dr. Sato for two years since he is pretty much the only pediatric eye doctor in Tucson. His waiting room is dirty, outdated, and crowded. With the amount of money he makes, you would think he could purchase some nice waiting room chairs, and maybe redo the disgusting floor from the 60s. And I have seriously seen cleaner bathrooms in gas stations. Now, I probably wouldn’t mind the awful space as much if I didn’t have to wait there for two plus hours every single time I go. It is truly horrendous. They overbook and pack as many people into a time slot as possible. The doctor comes in, doesn’t acknowledge us at all, looks at my daughters eyes for maybe two minutes, speaks to the nurse and leaves to go do the same thing in the next room.Because of this conveyer belt way of seeing patients, the staff has way too many people to keep up with. They don’t ever familiarize themselves with my chart. I have to tell them about my daughters eye condition every time we go, like it’s the first time they have seen her.And they don’t ever answer the phones....ever. I have left many messages for them without a phone call back. It is ridiculous.People have told me that Dr. Sato is the best, that’s why he is so busy, and maybe he once was. But now, he really truly isn’t the best, he is just the only one.I would rather start driving to Phoenix for a better doctor than continue with him.

It took me three weeks to get them to finally answer to let me know that they will call me back in a month to schedule an appointment. Not sure whats going on with the staff but Dr Sam sato needs to have a meeting with hes employees about proper response time and just basic communication skills. Thx

Dr. Sato and the staff performing the actual exam was great! 5 stars! But 1 star to the disorganized office staff who can not answer a phone or keep appointment times on track. Not sure what’s disjointed there.Just prepare yourself for twice as long as any other appointment. I had a 10:30 apt there and another at 1:20 across town. I was a few minutes late getting to my next appointment because by the time we were able to leave I had less than an hour to get her there. Campbell/near River to Houghton and Drexel. They did try to get her seen as soon as possible once I expressed my concern. This was after waiting an hour past appointment time and she had yet to be called back or dilated.I give them 1 stars on answering their phone or returning calls. I didn’t have which location the appointment was at and could not get anyone to answer a phone call or the text option. Luckily, someone picked up the phone when I called the morning of the appointment. I tried 4 or 5 times in the week prior. I sent a text and left a msg during an attempt prior to the appointment day.So, Dr is great but the office staff needs help.

So I go back to the room and she follows behind me and explains that she is sorry she accidentally dilates his eyes. Crowded dirty waiting room. Appointments not on time. WHY does office staff ask for paperwork to be filled out and MA will not look at it? Why should I need to pull out med bottles, referring doctors names and history after I already filled out this information on the paperwork? WHY does the MA NOT look at the referral for the reason a patient is here. My child and I were told we needed to set another appt to be seen for the same reason we have a referral. Does this make sense to you, Dr Sato ? The MA told me the front office is very busy and doesn’t have the time to add paperwork to charts. WHAT?? Very frustrated. And front office staff is soooo busy they are chatting and laughing. Bathroom dirty. Trash can overflowing. Papers on floor. Used tissues laying about.

Dr. Sato was very approachable and he answered questions and concerns I had. We told them our 7 month old son was on medication that suppresses his immune system, so he cant be around a lot of people for very long. They assured us hed go back quickly if it got too crowded. We spent over an hour in a crowded waiting room full of sniffling people. Then Dr. Sato finally saw him, was annoyed he was sleepy, looked at him for less than 5 minutes, dictated his notes to the tech, and left without saying a word to us. Pretty ridiculous since he decided my son cant see. Then I called because I needed to add more doctors to the list of people who could get his records. Got put on hold for just a minute and 10 minutes later was looped back into the menu. Next lady who answered blamed the other office, confused the heck out of me with my simple request, and then said I have to drive to the office to add more doctors. There was no help available when I was filling out the paperwork, so I didnt realize you were supposed to cram 3 different doctors information into one tiny space. Not only did the doctor act like my firstborn was a personal insult, he spoke gruffly to him and THEN low-key threatened him. I didnt see this doctors face because he wouldnt look at me and ignored when I tried to explain my firstborns eye condition. He saw the secondborn and gave him a diagnosis that has never shown up once in all his screenings. To top things off, he gave the firstborn a lense prescription that is profoundly different from what he received in January and this childs prescription has been consistent since his initial diagnosis (with a specialist in his condition from another state). My family and I have been seeing Dr Sato for many years and we always wait hours to be see by him no matter what since he was our family opthomologist. Today I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant , high risk pregnancy and showed up according to the front office 2 minutes past the 15 min late policy so I had to reschedule my son’s appt. I asked her to ask for me as my son really needs glasses and she came back with a referral to see another doctor and will not see my son today. I told her we always wait on u guys and u can’t wait on us? The entire family is leaving if he is not seen today. She didn’t care. So they are not fair- and they are always super busy packed like they schedule more than what they can see. Dr Sato has also gotten older and has someone else assist him.he is a good doctor just slow. So if u come here - expect to wait hours, and if u are late to reschedule as they are not equally fair with their patients. Snacks would also be awesome but they don’t even offer water. - the kids and I have sat in our appointments for 4-5 hours hungry and if husband is with me then he goes and gets us food so we can eat outside in the car. Point is- busy office poor patient service- and today them caring less about my son’s vision regarding the situation I am physically in and show no empathy or understanding just did it for us. I’m listening to my husbands suggestion and finally leaving Dr Sato’s family care. Oh and don’t expect soon appointments!

Our overall visit with the doctor went ok and took another month to schedule my sons surgery, taking the first available. We received forms that need to be filled out prior by Maria.I. One day prior to my sons surgery I receive and email half way through the day for a Rx with two different directions one from Maria and other from a lupe. Rx was and eye ointment and his tumor was on his temple I tried calling the office 5 times and got voice mail so I emailed back spoke to Maria she said the only confirm ONE day out and prescribe ONE day out and then informs that the location of my sons surgery had been CHANGED to another building due to construction. We arrive at the hospital and every single person was awesome with my son every interaction was great. DR. Sato came in didn’t do much talking and didn’t really win me over upon first meeting but has no choice or time to find another as it had taken long enough to see him. There my son goes into surgery and hour and thirdy mins later we are greeted by a staff member our son did great we get to take him home no issues. The doctor never came to talk to us, didn’t come to tell us how it went or what to do after wards. How do you do surgery on someone child and don’t do any sort of follow up. Mind blowing this is to me. If you can look for another doctor prior to letting you pediatric send you here. Very unorganized and the concern for the family and patient just isn’t there.
