Went to Dr. Maruflu after trying several other things to alleviate grinding my teeth at nite. She made custom appliances which I’ve been using ever since. Love her joyful attitude and non-invasive, stress relieving advice that can be done daily. One of the best decisions I ever made was to see her. Thank you so much!

I had significant TMJ pain. TMJ Care has controlled my problems. In addition, frequent headaches I have had for over 20 years have been eliminated. I am extremely pleased with the results achieved.

Seriously the best TMJ specialist in the country. She is certified in “everything” related to this specialty. Do not trust your care to dentists who say they treat TMJ. They do not have the highly specialized education it takes - Dr. Maruflu does. I have been her patient for many years and I continue to see her even though I have moved several states away. I literally fly to Arizona to be seen and cared for by her.I had debilitating migraines and was diagnosed with occipital neuralgia. I grind my teeth at night which adds to head, neck, and migraine pain. I sometimes forget to exercise my jaw or may go a few days without wearing my Appliance and I regret it the next day!Their office knows how to bill my insurance company and I had very little out-of-pocket costs. I am one of the lucky patients with great insurance. Of course that can change at any time but I would find someway to pay the bill and I have no doubt that Dr. Maruflu‘s office would work with me.I completely trust Dr. Maruflu and her staff. I don’t know what I would have done had I not found her. It was a time when I was in so much pain, I didn’t think I could perform the duties expected of me at work. I also had a small child at the time to care for. All physicians wanted to do was treat me with Botox injections in multiple trials of medication‘s. That was not the kind of care I was looking for. Dr. Maruflu was and is my hero! I got my life back because of her. Seriously.Should you choose to see her, I would highly recommend taking notes during visits, when asking questions, or when she’s giving direction because it’s easy to forget with so much going on - work, school, life in general! I was experiencing at least 4 to 5 migraines per week couldnt sleep and was taking pills daily to relieve the pain from my jaw and head I was miserable all the time not a good quality of life was tired most of the time and foggy in my thinking because of pain couldnt drive because of the migraines just miserable.I contacted my Droctor for the migraines they werent getting any better and other systems I was having and she suggested I see a specialist for tmj we did some research and found Dr. Maualu they got me in pretty quickly. Went in and was greeted by the front desk they were very friendly. I was early and they got me in right away which I was impressed.I was shown to a room filled out some info on an ipod and nurse came in and was very friendly and helpful.Then they took x-rays which didnt hurt a bit.Then the Droctor came in and explained what she was going to do to help me with all the pain I was experiencing.Dr. Maruflu is very Informative in her field just by looking at how my jaw was working she new the problem I was having and explained everything to me in a way I can understand, didnt talk down to me made me feel she understood what I was going through I would recommend her to my friends, family or to anyone who needs the help to relieve the pain I was going through.Ive been seeing her for about 5 months and I feel so good now I cant express how wonderful I feel and thank God I found someone like Dr.Maruflu I cant express how she helped me Im able to drive, read my books, excerise, paint Im an artist I wasnt able to paint for such a long time now I can do that. Now I see a future where I didnt see one before.Please if you feel anything like I had give her a try you wont be sorry!!!

Dr. Maruflu and her entire team are amazing. Dr. Maruflu has the most incredible bedside manner. She is gentle and easy to talk to. She addressed all concerns I had and she spent more time with me than most physicians would. I never had to wait for more than a few minutes to get into a room. The office is clean and very safe covid-wise. Most importantly, she has helped my husband and I immensely. My jaw really doesn’t hurt that often anymore and my headaches have all but vanished. Thank you Dr. Maruflu and the team. You create such a welcoming environment.

I cannot recommend Dr. Maruflu enough! For as long as I can remember I have had jaw pain, clicking, and headaches. I assumed this was something I just had to deal with. The wonderful team at TMJ Care has proved me wrong. I recently received two appliances to prevent jaw clenching and the results have been profound and immediate. I have significantly less headaches and jaw pain. While there are some days that I have pain, Ive noticed it is usually related to me not being as conscious about not clenching. Even though relieving the pain will be a process because I have to get rid of bad habits, I am so thankful for Dr. Maruflu and her team for creating an individualized plan to help alleviate my symptoms. Dr. Maruflu and her entire staff have been friendly and instructive (and Im the type of person that has A LOT of questions). The level of care and expertise at TMJ Care is unmistakable during every step of the process in providing relief for those of us who suffer from TMJ-related pain.

I got my first ever crown in January 2020 and between the length of the procedure and the change to my bite I ended up with fairly significant TMJ pain. I moved to Tucson shortly after the procedure and my new dentist said that some of the pain may be due to the change in my bite but told me that really Id need to go see a TMJ specialist and referred me down the street to Dr. Maruflu. I was open to getting bite guards as Im aware that I clench my jaw in my sleep, but Dr. Maruflu insisted on me paying out of pocket for a CT scan before she would make me appliances. I am a healthcare provider and questioned the need for $600 worth of imaging to treat pain that was clearly initiated by a dental procedure (my standard dental w-rays were negative), and suggested that we try a basic course of treatment, resorting to imaging only if standard care (including physical therapy) did not resolve the issue. Dr. Maruflu patiently listened to my proposal but essentially rejected it with a lot of empty rhetoric, and I was so desperate to get the pain addressed that I ended up agreeing to the imaging. Guess what - the imaging did not reveal anything relevant to my treatment. And I still have TMJ pain. And Im still paying them money. I appreciate the staff very much, they are supportive and kind, but I feel like I was pushed through an overly-standardized system of care and popped out the other side over $1000 in the hole and with no improvement in symptoms. Im not holding them responsible for the fact that I still have pain, but I am frustrated that I was forced to pay for unnecessary imaging in order to receive care.

When I showed up for my appointment, I had been having pain in my temple, jaw, ear and throat for about 4 months and was desperate for a clear idea as to what a plan of action would look like. In the consultation that took place on my first appointment it was described to me the plan of action, what the appliance looked like and what the expectations were of me to have a good outcome. The compassion and willingness to sit and communicate all this brought me close to tears as I realized the possible ending of my intense pain. I was blessed to have found Dr. Belma Maruflu and I thank her and her staff for the compassionate care I received.

Dr. Maruflu is amazing! She is very knowledgeable in TMJ care and chronic migraine. She has an excellent bedside manner. I highly recommend her!

Saw this Dr on February 8th, I was in pain and thought she could help, she did a very quick evaluation and some x-rays and they were going to wait for my insurance, a month later I was the one calling to find out what the results were, I guess the asume I couldn’t pay for a mouth guard .... FYI The receptionist is very rude!!!

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience at TMJ Care! Dr. Maruflu and her staff went above and beyond to meet my needs in a timely manner when I called after my jaw had been locked for several days. Im convinced that Dr. Belma Maruflu saved my life. She is the most caring and sweet doctor I have ever had. She is a true treasure! Dr. Maruflu is extremely knowledgable and extremely friendly. On top of that, she has assembled an all-star cast of the best people in her office. Elma, at the front desk, is so sweet and expressed much needed empathy when I first called, desperate for help.My symptoms first presented in January of 2019, as a loud ringing in my left ear. In March of 2019 I had to have a tooth removed. I had been grinding my teeth so bad in my sleep, that I pushed a tooth through my sinus cavity. In June/July I began having tension headaches that would completely take me out. I was using too much ibuprofen, too much Tylenol, and too much Excedrin, all at the same time. It wasnt helping so I found a primary care doctor, who referred me to an ENT doctor. I was loosely diagnosed with TMJD by this ENT who told me that I should try to get over it myself because TMJ doctors can be very expensive. He handed me a packet and sent me on my way.Fast forward to December of 2019. I had lost 40 pounds in just a few months (from not eating) and the pain had become so horrible and intense that I realized that if anything else went wrong, or if the pain became even .01% more painful, I was going to start thinking some dark thoughts. I did a quick google search for TMJ doctors in Tucson and found the highly rated TMJ Care. So I called, willing to sell my house and all my possessions if it meant I didnt have to suffer with this pain anymore. I have a wife and two daughters, and losing everything we had would be better than losing me (which I started to believe was becoming a real possibility).Elma answered. I was calling with intense anxiety and Elma picked up on it right away. Her ability to communicate with me, express that she understood what I was going through, and helped me schedule a time to come in... I will never forget that conversation.. It means so much to me that she was there for me in that moment. Thank you Elma!When I got in to see Dr. Maruflu, I was full of anxiety because I knew I would have to condense a years worth of symptoms and information quickly, without leaving anything out that could help me get treatment and recover. Dr. Maruflu was the first doctor Id spoken to all year that I feel actually listened to me without deciding that I was overreacting. She kindly helped me with a grocery list of foods that I needed to start eating, and carefully instructed me on the foods (and habits) I needed to stop. We did all the imaging and fitting for night guards. I started in on the physical therapy, and was fighting for my life. Dr. Belma equipped me with all of the knowledge I needed to be able to be here today writing this review.Improving has been the most difficult task of my entire life, but Im alive. And I feel I owe that, in part, to the amazing skills of Dr. Belma Maruflu, and her incredible staff. As far as Im concerned, her practice is the only TMJ practice around.These days Im actually chewing food again.. I didnt believe it was possible that Id ever sing in the car again much less chew even the softest food again. Im so thankful for the treatments that Dr. Maruflu provided me with. Avoid at all costs. They do not know how to properly bill insurance. They generally do not seem to know how the process works which only causes frustration on the patients side. They also do not provide improvement in pain which makes for a waste of time. I prefer to support local businesses but this one is not a good provider or experience.

Dr. Maruflu is an amazing practitioner. I was a patient of hers at another clinic and was thrilled to hear shed opened her own practice. She is truly an expert in the TMJ and Orofacial pain field - not many TMJ docs have her level of expertise and training. Additionally, her manner is fantastic. Kind, a good listener, and focused on finding solutions...or trying new ones when one method might not be working. The facility is brand new, clean, and modern. The X-ray machine plays music for you! The staff were so helpful in scheduling and figuring out insurance coverage (shout out to Elma at the desk!). Those of us who have TMJ-related issues know its frequently an ongoing struggle to manage. Im happy to have a doctor like her to help guide me and offer informed and compassionate care.

Although Dr. Maruflu has good chairside manner, she failed to effectively diagnose and treat my TMJ and sleep problems. I saw little improvement in the three years that I was her patient.For many years, I had difficulty sleeping at night due to breathing interruptions. Dr. Maruflu repeatedly dismissed it as “stress”.Upon visiting a new specialist, it turned out to be caused by tonsillitis, which was then treated.I have TMJ, which I later found out was due to issues caused by previous orthodontic procedures -something she also failed to diagnose and address.While I was her patient, I asked her once if my condition would be permanent and why. She stated that TMJ was incurable due to the fact that the ligaments surrounding the joint are irreversibly stretched. At my current doctor, I will soon be receiving an injection in order to tighten them. When discussing my treatment with Dr. Maruflu, she seldom gave options. Although she was friendly, I would not recommend her.

Dr. Maraflu is a highly trained professional who is also kind, patient and lovely to work with. She is very committed to helping patients in pain and is well connected in our community if a referral is required. She is very smart and can often offer multiple suggestions when tackling a problem. I know I am in excellent hands with her and her very competent and friendly staff.

From my experience, Dr. Maruflu is a top-notch, best in class, kind-hearted, caring TMJ specialist. If you are experiencing a jaw issue, Dr. Maruflu is who you should be seeing and here’s why:1). She steps back and assesses the entire medical situation before proposing a plan of care. (Many specialities don’t always take into consideration all medical issues, which she does).3). She orders appropriate diagnostic and assessments without going over board in evaluating the condition and the treatment plan.4). She discusses with the patient various treatment options and together a plan of care is created.5). She follows up to ensure appropriate medication was not only sent to the pharmacy but actually filled.6). She monitors your treatment progress and your condition improves to a stable condition where very little treatment is needed.7). She delivers 1-6, in a caring, compassionate and professional manner.In conclusion, above is why I’m a patient of Dr. Maruflu and why if you have a jaw condition, this is the speciality doctor you need and want to see!

Dr. Maraflu is AMAZING!!!!!! She has been incredible with my daughter and has provided more relief in just a couple of visits with her than a whole army of doctors! She has been an amazing blessing to us! I could never say enough good things about this angel of a doctor!
