Dr. Jody Hanson is hands down the best vet. We live in Littleton and we drive up to Thornton to see him. He is very respectful of our (not so friendly) dog and his space and has always taken great care of him. He takes his time and looks at the entire situation as a whole before he treats the dog. I am thankful to have found Dr. Hanson.

I made an appointment for vaccinations that were overdue several months due to covid but also because I was told my dog was possibly facing GDV. I wasnt able to go myself so I sent my mom to the appointment and she was treated poorly. She nor I had NO IDEA you had to call before entering. They were bashful towards my mom and had told her to get out and call for the appointment- then my mom asked for the number; thats when the receptionist rudely told her its on the front door...seriously how hard is it to give out your phone number to a patient that is standing inside half-way in your office??!! I read the email they sent prior to my appointment, the text message they send you prior to the appointment and neither messages went over policies for entering. Then Dr. Kit Hunsberger was clueless on why my dog had the appointment AFTER I SPECIFICALLY RELAYED HIS SYMPTOMS TO THE FRONT DESK AND THE FRONT DESK BASHING MY MOM ON WHY MY DOG WAS OVERDUE FOR HIS SHOTS. Cmon VCA, get it together.Im in the customer service industry and from what Ive read in the past reviews and what my mom has experienced here is unacceptable. I appreciate you guys getting my dog in ASAP but honestly I recommend you spend your time and money somewhere else. Ive heard great things about Guardian Angel Veterinary Care and I will make sure I go to them next time.

It’s always a nervous experience choosing a vet for a new puppy that comes into your life, and I ended up getting two puppies within a week that needed to be seen for their boosters among other things. I took a chance with VCA Thornton off of a google search, and I am so glad I did. Dr. Mason truly cares, and you can tell from how patient he is (I have one puppy who can’t see very well and is extremely scared of everyone and everything) and how he checks up. He has called consistently to ask how things are going and has given me help over the phone on days I don’t even have an appointment. He works with my puppy who can’t see well and tries to make her as comfortable as possible before he even tries to pet her just to try to make her experience less scary. If you have the chance, I couldn’t recommend a Veterinarian more. Then there’s the Technicians and Front Desk Staff. Every single person I have spoken to and had an experience with has left me feeling so welcomed. The front desk staff even helped me find a place to bring my car into when I was having troubles. Overall, I feel like I was welcomed into a family. They love my dogs, and always do anything and everything they can for them. I truly could not recommend a place more. If any of you end up reading this, Whiskey the Golden Retriever and Daisy the Great Dane say hi and they love you!

Dr. Mason is one the most compassionate and patient veterinarians I have ever met. After diagnosing my dog Watson with an anal gland mass, he made sure that Watson was well taken care of and referred to the right people. The most caring, gentle, thoughtful people. Tonight we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, as he was really old and went downhill quickly over the last few days. We were having trouble finding anywhere that could get us in soon - meaning we would have to wait several days. We didnt want to do that as he was suffering and it seemed cruel. I gave this place a call and both women I spoke to were super nice and made me feel very comfortable - Jess and Bobbie. When we got there, we were warmly welcomed and it honestly could not have been any more peaceful. I didnt catch the drs name, as I was preoccupied with our situation at hand, but he was SO kind and calm and gentle and made the whole experience so much easier. I would highly recommend these folks to take care of your beloved furry babies. And to the team, thank you so much for the extra care - we truly felt it.

My pet records were sent there when my vet closed its doors. Initially I was happy with the care my pets were receiving. In November my dog was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on her right rear leg. I was charged almost $400 and sent on my way with a referral to CSU Animal Cancer Center and no further instructions. The following Saturday my dog was vomiting and had diarrhea. I ended up taking her to.a different vet after calling several to see if the had an oncology specialist. At that vet she was given meds for GI issues, which should have been done in the first place by VCA. Over the past few months they have been less than helpful. In February my poor dog severed her CCL. Same dog and same leg she had the tumor removed from at CSU. She has been on Chemo and prednisone and was doing really well until this happened. I took her to VCA for the injury. The took xrays, gave her gabapentin again charging me almost $400 and basically sent me on my way. When I called to refill the gabapentin I was told she could not get it without a wellness check. My response was she was seen for the leg and because of her mast cell disease is getting seen every 3 weeks at CSU. A wellness check wouldnt tell me anything I already dont know. Shes now seeing Ortho at CSU for her leg. Most recently, I took her to get her liver values rechecked at CSU and. it was decided that she needed a CBC after I left Fort Collins. I called VCA to arrange for the blood test and was told I would have to pay for an office visit and they would have to check her liver enzymes again with the CBC. This had already been done. They told me I would have to wait a week for them to get those records from CSU before they could help me and to call back then.I guess the point Im trying to make is they care more about their bottom line and maki g no at than they do about actually helping animals. They basically try to bully you into unnecessary treatment so they can charge you. I am currently searching for a different vet.

They had blocks and books for the kids and beverages while you wait. The only real good experience Ive had here was the front desk staff. As for the doctors not so much. Worked with 3 different vets and Dr. Hunsberger was the best to work with. I had a temporary vet and then Dr. Pete the director as well. I was told so many different opposing facts about my dogs health issues that now I dont know who to believe. The temp. vet knew about my dogs conditions since I overheard her mentioning it to the front desk, but still continued on with the procedures we planned on having done to my dog. I was then informed by Dr. Hunsberger that continuing with the surgery would put my dog into heart failure which the temp. vet apparently didnt know. So the procedure didnt happen. I took my dog in for his yearly check up for shots and Dr. Pete went on to tell me that there is a possibility he could have complication from the surgery. So one had no idea that he could go into failure, the other said he would go into failure, and the last said its just a possibility. I felt very belittled and treated like a 5 year old throughout the whole check up.

I immediately called every pet hospital around Thornton area, all which had a near $100 visit fee alone. VCA Thornton animal hospital did not have an emergency visit fee. Even though they close at 8:00pm they were able to get us in immediately. Dr. Lori Ouzoonian and vet tech Pam did an outstanding job with getting Phoebe into the office and treating her even when Phoebe was showing signs of irritation. Vey pleased with my late visit. They do not operate on this kind of injury but they did give me some places to try. They did provide pain pills and did all they could for her there. Not only did they show us the x-rays they took there that day but they also sent them out to lab that specializes in reading them. They called back two days later to check on Zeta and gave us the results from the outside lab. I called first thing on Monday to have VCA send Zeta’s digital x-rays to CSU and they sent them immediately over so we were able to get her surgery scheduled right away.We ended up taking her to the CSU Veterinary Hospital, they put some screws and wires in. All my fur babies go to Dr. Pete. He is an awesome vet and takes the time to really explain things. That above was my old review. Now that Dr Pete is gone, the place has really gone downhill fast. My dog was attacked on our evening walk, and when we called VCA about the emergency ( they were open for over an hour still, its not like we called at closing time) they turned us away. We had to go to the ER and wait for it to open, keeping my dog in considerable pain for way longer than needed. That is absolutely against corporate policy, and VCA corporate will also be hearing about how terribly this location is run. You never ever turn away a walk in emergency- especially if the pet is already a client. Im extremely disappointed and disgusted with the staff, and hope they all read this and change everything about themselves. Ive been going here for over 7 years. Since moving to Denver.

Due to this and inadequate preventive care, (he had HCM which now* we know his breed us prone to*) he died in my arms on Saturday night. He needed their help and they turned him away. I will never forgive them. My sweet boy Capone was only 7. He had a blood clot that couldve been prevented had our Vet told us and had him on blood thinners. Now I am lost without my sweet kitty. My husband came here with our new adopted 8 month old German shepherd mix and said the front desk staff were very friendly but when he met with Dr. Pete DeTolve he completely felt unwelcome. Dr Pete said he would not deal with our dog because he was too aggressive and wasn’t train properly. We had just got our dog from a shelter. what would you expect from a scared sick german shepherd puppy who was constantly changing environments? He’s going to be a bit uneasy. Dr Pete did not handle the situation professionally. He seemed annoyed rather then help the situation he just did not want to deal with it. So he refused to help at all. Note vets do have muzzles for dogs that are uneasy but Dr. Pete didn’t even recommend that for us. How inconsiderate. Unfortunately we had to wait a couple more days to find another vet that would take care of our pup. I found VCA Lafayette through google and they excellent reviews and took are pup there. Best decision! They handled our aggressive puppy in such a professional way. We decided to stick with them and even bought our pup CareClub with them. I do not like to write negative reviews. If you are not patient with animals why are you even in this industry? If you have a dog with behavioral issues dr. Definitely dont recommend, they are great until you sign up for the care club and then they are extremely rude, even answering the phone politely seems to be too much work for them. We took our Bella in for blood work for our fur baby so she could be spayed and it wasnt pulled properly yet they want us to pay $600 for it even though we got no valid results. The test came back saying that her blood had low platelets (platelets clot the blood) and they need to draw it again because the blood was clotting before it got into the tube with the de clotting solution, Im pretty sure thats an oxymoron! The staff wears so much perfume that our other cat attacked her for almost 2 days because she didnt recognize her scent and they are best friends. Seeing as how this is a vet and smell is vital to recognition, its seems very unprofessional to wear highly scented perfumes when you are handling other peoples pets. This place is money hungry and I plan to file a formal complaint about charging outrageous amounts of money for services that arent rendered. Kit was very nice though, thats about the only good thing about our visit.

I’m editing my review as I am furious with VCA and the care my dog Bentley has been receiving. LET ALONE HOW LIVID I AM WITH THE OUTRAGEOUS FEES AND THE VCA CARE PLAN THAT WE GOT CONNED INTO THATS A FRICKEN JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!We liked Dr. Pete until he ended up leaving and since November our dog has now seen 4 different doctors. All who have been very judgmental that I utilize cbd oil for my dog and not pain meds. Anyways minus the multiple staff changes as this location can’t keep a doctor to save their lives.. the front desk staff is rude and unwelcoming every time we walk in. 2 weeks ago I called to get our dog in because half of his toenail was ripped down the middle. They tell me over the phone they can’t get me in for a week but will put me on the list if there’s a cancellation. Get a call 30 minutes before an appointment time to have me come in- great! Dr Brandon? I think saw Bentley, don’t worry he informs me he’s leaving too... he cut half of his toenail off and prescribed pain meds and an antibiotic it cost be 150 dollars AND WERE PART OF THE VCA CAREPLAN!! What the heck am I paying 107 dollars a month for?! A 30 dollar exam a month and some vaccines, get out of here your place is a RIP OFF YOURE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY. So they close tonight at 8pm on July 8th, I call at 610pm because our roommates dog attacked mine over food and caused a major laceration by his eye. I call to see if we can get him in as we are existing clients. The lady over the phone says the doctors too busy and can’t get us in tonight and their next appointment isn’t until NEXT THURSDAY!!!! So she gives me numbers to emergency vets in the area that quote me upwards of 500-900 dollars if he needs to be sedated for sutures. IVE SPENT WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR SUBPAR CARE AT THIS VCA TO BE TOLD NOTHING IS COVERED! Mind you the cost of the dental cleaning with his vaccines and normal blood work was covered under the plan. But not all his extractions Or anything other than the fricken 30 dollar office fee. This office is a fricken joke and so is the VCA CAREPLAN- COMPLETE AND UTTER WASTE OF MONEY. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!!! Never again’ I will warn everyone I know never to go to VCA. 😡😡😡😡😡November 2018I was very nervous taking my 9 year old lab beagle mix, Bentley, to a new vet. We moved from Aurora to Brighton and my dog hates long car rides. I did a lot of google searches on vets and came across VCA Thorton. So I set up a consult to be seen by Dr. Pete so we could decide if this is who we wanted to trust our baby with. One of the reasons I asked for Dr. Pete was because he also went to MSU in Michigan for vet school, my husband and I are both from Michigan as well. I’m glad I chose Dr. Pete for the care of Bentley. At the consult appointment he was so kind and patient and let Bentley take his time coming up to him. He carefully showed my skiddish dog that it was okay to be looked at. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, my main concern for Bentley was his oral health, sadly it’s been since 2016 since his last dental visit. I knew it was time to bite the bullet and have his teeth cleaned and have the ones that were periodontally effected removed. Dr Pete assured me that everything would be okay and that he wanted to run lab work and X-rays prior to the procedure due to him being a senior dog, I trusted that everything would go well. He called the following day to let me know Bentley was healthy and cleared for surgery. On the morning of surgery I was a nervous reck leaving my baby to be put under sedation knowing full well there would most likely be several teeth that needed extracted. I gave Dr Pete my consent to do what needs to be done as I wouldn’t really be able to answer my phone due to being busy with my own patients but I did tell him he could call my office phone for anything. I received a call later in the morning from him on my offices phone saying that Bentley was doing great under anesthesia but the X-rays had shown that seven teeth would need to be extracted - one being a root tip.

My kitten was scheduled to be spade. My husband took time off work to take her in at 7:00 A.M. The kitten had no food or water since 10:00 P.M. the night before per their instructions. I get a call at work at NOON the day of surgery saying that they had not been able to operate because they were waiting for an orthopedic surgeon to show up???? Apparently the vet did not want to start the procedure on the kitten because she did not want to get half way through and have the orthopedic surgeon show up (he was operating on another animal that I guess took priority over mine) and he was running late? Like 5 hours? I was then told that maybe they could do the procedure at about 2:00 - really? Now how long has this poor cat gone without food or water plus the fact I will be picking her up prior to her complete recovery from anethistic. Then they offered to give her a little food and maybe we could reschedule. Oh yes - lets repeat this horrible experience. My husband picked up our kitten right away - no we do not want to reschedule - we will find a new vet. The lack of concern on their part is what really was upsetting - and just the fact that they really didnt care if this animal was going to go 17 hours with no food or water - and then the procedure was a maybe? I guess I might look at this horrible experience as a blessing that they did not start cutting on my baby - they obviously not only are disorganized but uncaring as well. I write this review in hopes that you do not take your pets to this place - sure they put on happy cheerful faces cause they want your money - believe me - I got charged a small fortune for blood work that I cant even use now. However, my kitten is okay - that is all that matters. Go somewhere else folks - if you care about your pet.

This usually isnt my thing to write reviews like this cause half the time it depends on the mood your in that day or situation you are in that can determine the experience. That said just ask for Dr. Pete ( I cant spell or pronounce his last name) The entire staff has been great to us so i would be remise to not mention them but Dr. Pete truly stands out. Pets mean so much to all of us hence we are writing these reviews and Dr. Pete gets it and understands that. He has went out of his way multiple times to get us medicine for our dogs, special trips, phones calls to specialists. I cant thank him enough for his support and care we have received. Everyones mileage is going to vary but since Dr. Pete came on board we continue to drive out of our way to continue using him as our primary care. Thanks to the VCA team there and Dr. Pete.

VERY expensive. It seemed they cared more about trying to sell me $4.5 a pound food than what we came there for. Our dog had been scratching her ears a lot and we thought she had an infection. They barely examed her ears and said nothing was wrong. Instead they just keep going on and on about prescription science diet and that we were pretty much bad pet owners if we didnt buy that food from them. A few weeks later we went to Banfield and sure enough, she had an ear infection. So not only that but their teeth cleaning and wellness plan are ridiculous expensive. Teeth cleaning at Banfield is only $250 and it includes everything. VCA is $700. Also the wellness plan is half the price and included all dental work. And they charge more for senior dogs! Completely outrageous. Dont fall for their free first exam.

The treatments they gave didnt really helped my 2 guinea pigs at all plus the visits there are too expensive, not including the medicines and additional treatments. I suggest looking for another vet clinic other than this.

Great vets that really care. They dont try too hard sell a bunch of services that you dont really need, like done other vets do.

They arent really a veterinarian clinic. Theyre a business masquerading as a veterinarian clinic. The moment you go in you will be offered care packages and payment plans and whole bunch of crap. Its not dissimilar to the Comfort Dental model, and you can expect to be told your dog needs a lot of unnecessary stuff but it will only cost you $49 a month, otherwise you would pay $13782 in a single year! (sarcasm added)Do yourself a favor and go find a real vet that will treat your pets and pass on VCA.

I sadly took my two elderly dogs to this place to be euthanized. After signing the release and being charged, the vet decided instead to pull several of my dogs teeth and operate unnecessarily on one of them. They were subsequently place on an adoption website that misrepresented their treatment, health, and disposition. They took a very painful decision and turned it into a nightmare. If you care for your animals, avoid this place.

Called to ask questions about vet services and the lady on the phone was extremely rude. The costs for service are outrageous and they wont give other options. Will never go here now!

Last visit I watched the vet demean her assistant and was charged 180$ for something I had done in the past at a different vet for 76$. Annoying atmosphere that stinks and is too expensive!
