In general I like the benefits offered by Careplus and their customer service is wonderful however a recent interaction with one of their physicians concerns me. I am a patient of Drs. Payne and Mejia. During my last visit Dr. Mejia lectured me about keeping up with preventive care guidelines. My position was COVID could kill me why should I place myself at risk for preventive care. After being told I would lose my insurance if I did not keep up with my preventive care I acquiesced and agreed to have an EKG and blood work at the office in addition to several other procedures outside of the office e.g. mammogram, optical. After attempting 3 times to draw blood at the office without success they asked me to go to Labcorp. When I went on Labcorps web site they indicated that someone like me should not venture into their lab however I was steadfast and scheduled an appointment anyway. The day of my appointment I realized that I had paperwork for 3 preventive care procedures however not one of them was for bloodwork. I called the office and I was told they would fax the paperwork over immediately. I drove to Labcorp, signed in on a pinpad (YUK). After waiting for 15 minutes I was told that the office never faxed over the paperwork. I went out to my car to call the Drs. office to ask them once again to fax the paperwork. When I called I was placed on hold for 5 minutes and then the line disconnected. At this point I will not leave my house until it is time to get a vaccination. I only pray the Drs. will not put me at risk by discontinuing to refill my prescriptions. This was another threat they made if I did not get my preventive care work done. Needless to say once it is safe to go about again I will find another doctor. The only bright spot at this office is that two members of the staff Lucy and Jasmine are the best!p.s. I never believed I would lose my insurance but I figured they were desperate to make such a threat.

Make sure you get a referral from your PCP for EVERYTHING.

I have been insured by CarePlus Health Plans going on 2 years. For now; they dont have the largest selection of specialists & general practitioners. But they are serious company. with the hardest working employees. What I am saying is; they are terrific. What they have paid for and provided for me has increased the quality of my life, all for a reasonable cost. CAREPLUS HEALTH PLAN; THANK YOU********UPDATE*******UPDATE10/29/17I signed up for another year. Im very happy with this insurance Im hoping that more doctors, hospitals, clinics etc etc start taking CarePlus. But they are beginning to get better known. Good Deal

I have been with Careplus. Many years now and can say that to me..this company is the best . I have tried other companies and care plus has been the best..they have stood by me through thick and thin..through colds, hospitalizations, and even through cancer..i give CarePlus a 20 +..

Choose this plan if you have DNR and dont plan to treat cancer if you get it,or treat wounds if you have them. If you plan to use your health care and treat illness choose another companies plan.

It really is NO stars(had to choose 1 to be able to post) as they switched my 77 yr. old father who has dementia off his plan that had his long standing doctors to a plan with none of his doctors. And now he is locked in a plan until January 1, 2020. Agent left contact information OFF the form so very hard to get a hold of him.
