Fiance went in with Covid and pnemonia after the urgent care told her to go. The doctors said There isnt anything we can do and sent her on her way. Knowing she had pnemonia and is having trouble breathing. No oxygen, no medicine, nothing. Awful hospital and doctors. Youd be better off going to a morgue.EDIT: Also forgot to mention, she went to the hospital via ambulance the day before, got a chest x-ray, and nothing was said about the pnemonia. The doctor said Looks normal for a patient with Covid.THIS HOSPITAL AND THESE DOCTORS ARE A JOKE. They should be ashamed. You are NO *&)+!$ heroes!

The nursing staff were great. They took great care of my husband. Thats it!!! My husband had surgery and I was told what room he would be taken to and that I could wait there. It took a few minutes to get there and I expected to see him there. I waited and waited and waited. I waited about 2 hours! Not one word was communicated. When asked, the nurse told me he needed pain medication. I finally found out that they were waiting on a transport. Could this not be communicated to the nursing staff?? Also, when a loved one is being checked out, the spouse should be allowed to go up and know of any care needs, especially if they will be the primary care giver. I hope to NEVER have to come to this hospital again.

JOSHUA PHILIP BAIRD, MDWent to Mary Blanc Hospital tonight, tested positive with COVID-19 on Sunday and I was not getting better this Doctor said because my oxygen level was not to low I did not need to stay. He did not tell me he was going to order test, and the nurse make sure she said we dont want you here because you have COVID-19 Lets just say the communication was not there. So I left I think 🤔 they were happy. Communication is the key but these people dont have it. Think goodness they are good Hospital in Greenville Just remember if you sick the hospital does not want you there

The birthing center is great but the ER is another story. I’ve been waiting here with my sick 2 year old for 2 hours. They told me I had 2 people in front of me yet people mind you that got here an hour after me went in before us. So somehow 2 people ahead turned into 5.... at the point of leaving because clearly apparently my child doesn’t need to be seen according to the wait time...

This was the worst visit i ever had at an emergency room the lady checking me in was rude and very unhelpful the wait time online was way wrong i was there 21/2 hours and never seen or put in a room even though i am in severe pain in my abdomen and throwing up blood!! They need to do better! I asked how long my wait time is about an hour Asher being there and was told 5 were being discharged and 5 (me included) were waiting to take those rooms so after another hour and a half i asked again and was told 2 were being discharged and 4 waiting so they lied to me or my condition just wasn’t important to them! Either way i left I’m sick of srhs they’re too worried about getting paid and not about the patient

I drove 12 hours to see my family member. The charging nurse called security on me when I questioned her about my relative not taking a shower for a month!!!! My relative was on the 2nd floor of the hospital. He lost his job due to COVID. He ended up having a stroke and didn’t have any medical coverage. They treated him terribly and they ended up discharging him because they claimed they couldn’t do anything for him. The case manager did not help him. All she did was call me and lie to say that he’s walking. When I got there he wasn’t even standing on his own. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!

So they dont clean under the beds. Yall want to make me wear a mask but cant sweep a floor!!! I asked for a broom and dustpan they dont have one!! They took my husband to CT and its awfulll. If you want clean dont go hereeee!!!

Front ER staff great. Been back in room for almost an hour. Have not seen anyonesince they brought me back. Came in for possible appendicitis. Unbelievable. Room is old. Dirty floor.

It is VERY difficult to get anyone to call you back. Weve left messages several times. Weve been told to leave a message and well get a call back. NO returned phone calls. We were told over three weeks ago that wed get a call back within two weeks regarding an audit we are requesting regarding billing of procedures that were not necessary to the diagnosis. Still no call back. We were told wed get a call back regarding billing - finally called them again and were told they dont give info over the phone and we needed to go into records and request the info in person - why couldnt anyone call back and say this?! This hospital is very frustrating to deal with communication wise. Its been over two months regarding a visit and billing and cant get anyone to resolve our situation. Basically, if they cant call back regarding a bill and drop unnecessary charges they shouldnt complain about not getting paid.

The nurses did really well with my child. But when it comes to the time spent. We have been here for over 3 hours and my son seems fine now the first test came back negative and its been well past the 20 minutes they said it would take to run the second test. Its Christmas, it has been a very long day and we just want to go home and get some sleep. So he can play with his gifts tomorrow, well technically later today. If I wanted to wait this long I would have just stayed home. At least he would be comfortable.

After reading all these reviews I really want to thank all the people who took time writing them it helped me make up my mind what hospital to go to in case of an emergency and this one is definitely not it 😬

Quick, efficient service.

I was completely impressed with the staff and doctors that were there for my delivery! They went completely above and beyond for me and my 35 week old son who was born a month early. They were very kind and observant to our needs. I was beyond impressed with how they treated us. I had a c-section and I was there for 3 days, all 3 days I was completely taken care of, consistently informed of me sons needs, and walked through every step after that I needed to do for after I left the hospital. They honestly cared for you as a person and not just a patient, which is such a relief , due to being in such a vulnerable state, not only putting your life in their hands but your child’s. I was extremely blessed with such amazing people who truly made me and my son and all my guest completely comfortable! I was very very blessed! Thank you Mary Black for such devotion and kindness.

I dont go to hospitals. However I was in an extreme amount of unknown pain in my stomach so I went in. I didnt have to wait long in the waiting room which is good. I was the only one there at 3am. So I get back and in a room and dont hear much from the doctor. When she finally comes in shes very rude, doesnt really allow me to ask questions gives me a prescription for an OTC drug that was mass recalled and pulled off the shelves almost a year ago... This experience reminded me why Id rather just sit home and suffer hoping it gets better than to visit a hospital here.

Outstanding staff in the ER. Very short wait before being attended to. My care was awesome. The nurses were very professional and truly cared about my care. The PA was awesome. Stitched me up quickly and my CAT scan was quick and easy. Thanks to all of the ER staff. Highly recommended by me and my family for sure.

I just delivered my firstborn at Mary Black Labor and Delivery and I received the absolute best care I could have received anywhere. From the nursing staff to the room service, everyone was kind and courteous. I was treated like royalty and I am so thankful for every person that I encountered the 4 days I was there!

My husband was in Mary Black Hospital for a Total Knee Replacement in June. He could not have received better care. From the nurses, doctors, aides and Therapy Department, the care and concern were top notch. Then a couple weeks later, he fell and tore open his operation and had to be taken to the ER. Again, he received wonderful care. Some people will complain about anything, but we have been to this hospital 3X and always had excellent Care. I only hope the quality of of care doesnt deteriorate since Spartanburg Regional has purchased Mary Black. Ive read some awful stories about their hospital, with the exception being the cancer and heart centers.

The one star that I gave is for the cleanliness, the nice lady at check in, triage nurse and the girl that got me situated in the room. I can’t review the er nurse because he had just walked in and the er doctor walked in behind him and within 5 minutes told me there was nothing wrong with me when all she did was listen to my lungs. I was never ask my medication list, my past medical history, nothing!!!! I have never felt so humiliated like why was I even there. My blood pressure was 179/79, she didn’t even ask about it. So much other stuff but I feel so bad I just want to rest right now. Currently waiting on a call back from someone to file a complaint with. I should have checked the reviews before I went but when you’re sick that’s not what your thinking about. And I do have great medical insurance not that, that should make a difference if you’re sick.

After Dr talked to me. I had to wait almost 2 hours to get my paperwork and go home. They messed up on my paperwork now Ive been waiting an hour just so they can fix it. This place has gone downhill.

Been in the ER since 9pm, it’s now 3:25am.... still waiting.... i understand they call those that hurt the most. But when i get up to to see how many more are ahead of us.... and they tell me we was marked seen already..!!!! Mood and respect changes.

A friend of mine got me very ill so I had the pleasure of visiting this hospital. That been said, Im not a big fan of hospitals myself I am always skeptical. With that in mind this place was amazing. The caregivers from the ER to The surgeons and theyre wonderful team and were nothing less than the best professionals and most encouraging group of individuals that I have ever run across!

I had the opportunity to read some of the reviews and I dont know what hospital these people are going to but it is not SMC Mary Black Campus. I work in the ER and we have the best nurses around and they are caring. The hospital is not dirty, if it was , it probably was very busy and patients do leave their messes wherever they land. Housekeeping probably hadnt been around. We may not be able to please all the patients all the time but we all do our best.......We are the BEST!!!! Thank you doctors, nurses, and staff....keep up the great work that you all do. I enjoy working with you!

Mary Black Hospital is on its way down hill! We had a very bad experience there! Mistakes were made & put my life on hold , which caused me to stay in I c uFor a week ! Prolonging my ChemoThe nurses in were wonderful , compassionate people ! They were given woo much to do & plus there jobs They were all very good nurse ! In ICU they expected the nurses to also , serve the meal trays to the patients ! They were completely tied up doing their job !5 stars are more To a nurse named HOPE !! Loved her ! We all did ! She was an Angel !Also Sheri, director over the nurses 5 stars Sheri was also the sweetest nurse & an Angelic lady ! Thank you to Hope & Sheri !

Madeline Bryan was the nurse for our daughter during labor and delivery of our granddaughter and was the best ever!!! We all felt the same! She went way beyond what you would expect and she is certainly in the right profession. Thank you Madeline.

Having my baby at the Mary Black location with a nursery helped my recovery so much. O can not emphasize this enough. When I had my firsthand baby at Spartanburg Regional there was no nursery & it made recovering much harder. I didnt get any sleep, I felt helpless & overwhelmed. Having the nursery at the now SMC campus made recovering so much easier. I was no where near as stressed, I was able to sleep, to go walk & know that my baby was on good hands.SAVE THE NURSERY!!!!

The front desk staffs lack communication skills. I had an appointment at 9:40 a.m. with Dr. Edwards but I got there 2 minutes late, and filled out the paperwork within a minute. The front desk staff told I have to make a new appointment because I have to be in the doctor cabin at the appointment time. I never heard any hospital saying that. If they always work on time like they say and let us out by 30 mins then I would appreciate that.

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY FOR MARY BLACK HOSPITAL IN SPARTANBURG, SC. IT IS THE BEST IN THE UPSTATE!!!!!!!!! WARM, FRIENDLY, FAMILY-STYLE CARE WITH EVIDENCED BASED PRACTICE! IM A NURSE--WAS HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION AND THEY WERE JOHNNY-ON-THE-SPOT WITH THEIR CARE!!

I had a back injury which pulled my spinal cord up almost ripping it at the levels of my hips. It paralyzed my left leg and felt like it was being crushed. I was forced to lay on their nasty floors and treated like a drug attack when I went to the back room. I was told by the woman working there that there was nothing wrong with me and was forced with the help of my wife to walk out, they would not even provide a wheelchair. The next day I went to another hospital where they explained what had happened, explained that a simple cortisone shot would of saved the sciatica nerve from being damaged that ran down my left leg. Now I cant feel my left leg, I constantly get random internal itches and pain from it, and I have to concentrate while walking because I no longer can pinpoint its movement. This lady was quite nasty and has no business in a job which she hates. ALL OF HER CONVERSATION WAS RECORDED and the pure nasty way she was treating me. I have mris showing the damage. I know the management who works there could care less on how their wannabe doctors act. I have been debating on if I should give this recorded to the local news but dont think it would help. DONT GO HERE, that is my tip.

If it wasnt for the really poor patient relation that the ER service neglecs to provide, I would have giving 5 star rating. We got into the ER quickly from when we signed in, but after they took us back that was another issue. We waited around for 9 hours before they admitted my mom. During that 9 hours, no one came in to make sure she was doing ok. The only time we saw anyone was when they asked her medical question or took her to get X-rays. After she was admitted, well that was a very pleasant experience. The staff in tower 4 were awesome, helpful and very polite. They made my mom feel welcomed and they checked in on her from time to time to make sure she was ok. Too bad the ER stuff snub people or this would be a 5 star hospital all the way round.

Advise the nurses who work with women that just gave birth not to use phrases like If you cant get him to eat hes going to die.Giving birth here was the biggest mistake I ever made and I would never advise another woman to chose to do the same. The experience was so traumatizing.As for your E.R. everyone working there needs to check their attitude with patients they re very condescending, and degrading and they act like they dont believe anything you tell them youre experiencing.

I was here with flu like symptoms a headache an abdominal pain that had me doubled over in pain with out being able to keep anything down or in an I’m pull out of a room I was put in an moved to the psych ward holding room in the er cause this guy has a headache and he was more important then I when I was moved I wasn’t told y nothing told to get my things an move to a waiting area an sat for 45 mins before they move me in my honest opinion this is bs an the last time I ever visit this hospital only good health care is in Greenville county these places are jokes

This place have turned into a nightmare. The wait is awfulI been here 5 hours. I will never come back here ever again. I called the nurse button 2 times with in a hour and still got nobody Assistance. They need new management.

My wife is in here at this very moment and it is literally the worst hospital experience. They have screwed up on her meds, her head has been in dire pain since 8am and at 3:30 they have just said they will her something (of course that hasn’t even made it yet either), nurse has been in to check on her twice in 6 hours, no doctor has come to see her at all, they finally allowed her to eat and messed that up too. Seems the only person that has gotten anything right was the volunteer that brought in a news paper. This used to be a great establishment with great care. It is terrible now!!

Dr Grant is the most useless dr to be given a license to practice medicine!! Did zero test on my daughter who was complaining of chest pains and assumed it was anxiety!!! How do you diagnose a patient with no blood work...chest x-ray..ekg NOTHING!!! WORTHLESS

Showed up at the ER for severe pain for sciatica and an illness that lasted a month. I hobbled to the reception clerk who was apathetic, rude and apparently didnt wanna be bothered just to be sternly told Theres 5 people in front of you. Then I waited for 20 min. to finally be registered then waited another 30 min. for triage where they had the same rude & apathetic attitude. Triage just asked me questions and checked my blood pressure then sent me back out into the waiting room where I sat for a while before my leg started cramping and hurting. So I layed on the floor to lessen the pain and nobody checked on me for almost an hour laying on the floor until one guy asked if I needed a pillow. Then they call me back to triage a few minutes later and I struggled to get up because of the pain just to be told sternly you shouldnt have got on the floor. Then they wrote a prescription and sent me to checkout where the lady there was ruder than the staff I have dealt with so far. I was sent on my way with no examination, other than the blood pressure check and nothing else except the prescription.

Emergency room is faster. Had both my children here and is was great. I prefer this hospital.

Everytime I come here I have had a less then pleasant experience. The last time I was there it took more then 4 hours just to get a blanket when it is at best 72° in the rooms, and being almost naked one would need a blanket. Not even to mention the last time I came here I was again here for hours and eventually sent home with nothing more then a few general pain pills and we dont know what is wrong but hope you feel better and here is the ridiculous bill for no real work. My final straw comes when I bring my wife (just a few weeks pregnant) here in tears because of the pain. They give her nothing to help the pain make us wait for hours then tell me I cant even go with her for the first ultrasound of my child! Horrible excuse for a hospital.

We took my mother to the ER on 08/18/18 at around midnight with abdominal pain.There was no one there and we went back immediatly (now I know why). We waiting approx 4 hours with her lying in bed with pain. I finally ask the nurse for some pain medicine from the front desk, they said no problem... about 1.5 hrs later they brought her a pain pill.We finally saw a Dr at approx. 5 a.m. and left at 6:00 a.m. It was all one big party outside the room! No wonder the healthcare industry is in such a horrid state.This whole visit could have been handled in 2 hrs max if the hospital employees would have made an earnest attempt to do their jobs, care for the sick, and be professional. This was an eye opening experience for someone whos never had to go to the hospital. *** STAY AWAY! *Also, try sitting in a cheap desk chair for 6 hours freezing to death. Any two bit operation could do a better job than this. I run a business, its simple, do your job!

Unprofessional surgical staff. A relative of mine had surgery there and we could hear staff talking negatively about other staff members and the place looked very unsanitary. Staff were sitting at the desk eating breakfast in front of patients who are going into surgery and haven’t been able to eat. JCAHO needs to do a surprise visit.

My wife and I had our son at Mary Black of Spartanburg and all the nurses and staff we interacted with were knowledgeable, professional, and created a hospitable environment for us before and after recovery.

Front desk staff was uncaring and seemed bored. Triage staff was wonderful. Once in a room, I watched the doctor sit for two hours in the same place while my dad was in pain. He didnt seem to care at all. He visited zero patients in TWO HOURS.

Terrible nurses. Unresponsive, rude, inequipped with knowledge yet know it alls. Dont seem to have any respect or sense of caring at all for people in general. They all seem to be bothered by the fact they have a job to do.

Went for pain in side was there for SIX HOURS the nurse came in and said they forgot about me then proceed to laugh about it. But if it were her or her family member I bet it wouldn’t be so funny

If you’re going to the ER do not, it’s hours of waiting. Took my sister there just to get her face checked out, she was swollen around the eyes and mouth and also had a rash. We waited four hours just for some eye drops! And the doctor was very rude and just assumed it was pink eye and it was not.Will be going to spartanburg medical

My wife is pregnant and was taken here after a car accident. We sat for hours and nobody was made aware and we were not a priority. This place is a death trap.

Horrible about calling back after calling them time and time again. Also very slow at everything.

My 4 year old was vomiting and lethargic. I disclosed that she has a history of fever related seizures. An hour and a half later we were still in the waiting room. Front desk was uncaring with a cant help you attitude
