At the beginning of September, I made an appointment for September 21st at 3 PM with Dr. Gilmer. I double checked with the lady on the phone and wrote it down on my phone and on my calendar: September 21st at 3 PM.Today however, I noticed while I was preparing for my appointment at 2 PM that I had 3 missed calls. I called back and was surprised to hear I missed my appointment. I was told that my appointment was at 11:30 AM. This was not the time that was originally scheduled. I was never contacted about this change and I would not have consented to an 11:30 AM appt because of my schedule for the month. My only option was to reschedule, with the earliest opening being the middle of November. I do not appreciate my time being so disrespected, especially given how difficult my Chiari malformation is to live with. Dr. Gilmer seems like a great doctor, so Im hoping that my opinion of this place willl change when I finally meet her.

PLEASE AVOID GOING TO THIS PLACE- DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!I had a horrible and unprofessional experience with this business! Today,I was supposed to have a zoom appointment with Dr. Michael Staudt (Southfield Location) at 10:30 (5/19/21). I was waiting over ten minutes after the appointment time for a link. Since, I didnt receive a link , I called the office to find out why there was a delay. The same lady (administered assistant) that set up my appointment( at least 3 weeks ago), took my insurance, request that I go get a x-ray disk that bring to them, ended up answering my phone call. She informed that my appointment was cancelled because the doctor doesnt accept my insurance! Im not frustrated because the appointment was cancelled, Im furious because I was not told it was cancelled at all! I had gave my insurance information, authorization/referral from my primary physician way over two weeks ago! I should have been informed that my appointment was cancelled weeks ago! I wasted time and gas getting all the information required for this upcoming /non-existent appointment! I wont be referring anyone to this place!

My husband had his back done in March and ever since the surgery they have not seen him at first they keep telling him to take muscle relaxers and then that caused another problem but all they will do is see him on tell a Med 4 times he keeps calling them telling them his back hurts will not see him and 8 months later NEVER SEEN A DOCTOR AFTER SURGERY and they keep saying COVID but he sees all his other Doctors so to me they will see you before surgery give you surgery and after that because they made there money they don’t care about you so to me all they are is money hungry and they don’t care about you after that

Great IF you have incredible insurance, otherwise horrifically rude.I started with them back when I had private insurance, and the care was excellent. Then I fell on hard times due to being disabled (which is why I was going there in the first place). This resulted in my getting lectured about how much my care was costing this obviously well-off neurosurgeon due to Medicaid being “the cheapest of the cheap for poor people.”Look, f’idiots, it’s easy to say how much money you’re losing when you have some. Better hope your life is all parties and roses, because you’ll hate being treated how you treated me.

Avoid this practice at all costs. I came here with a patient and found their practice and manner to be unprofessional. The clinic is shoddy. The door to their clinic didnt even have an automatic accessible entry button- and this is supposed to be for people with spine injuries? Interior decor aside, the doctors manner and advice did not inspire confidence and seemed to be all about doing business ($, literally), not seeing the patient in front of him. Its also odd how all the positive reviews are 5 stars and just a line if at all. Do believe the negative reviews- theyre true. The positive ones seem fixed based on our experience. Save your money and more importantly your body and life, listen to the advice people have shared here, and go somewhere else.

I have had nothing but positive results from MHSI. My neurosurgeon, Dr. Diaz is the BEST. He allowed me to be an active participant in my health plan. Instead of surgery (for now), I opted to continue with pain management. This is when Dr. Habor came in to the picture. What an AWESOME doctor. Moving to a new area, I was very reluctant to find a new doctor. However, Dr. Habors personality, professionalism and genuine concern for me as an individual was so important. When one way didnt work, he offered other options. The pain has subsided. There has been times when Ive seen doctors who just see you as $$$. However, Dr. Diaz and Dr. Habor are THE BEST! NOTHING BUT POSITIVE RESULTS.

I LOVE DR. HOLLY GILMER!!! I was suddenly diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. I was living in Nashville TN. I heard Dr. Gilmer was one of the best in the field. I packed up my family and moved to MI to become her patient. The condition is rare and does not have a cure. The symptoms can be relieved by brain decompression. The first moment I met her I was hooked. I loved her person compassion and I respect her skills and knowledge!

Response to your comment: I’ve already called and tried to speak to the office manager, she couldn’t care less. After being spoken to in such a disgustingly rude, unprofessional, and really the most appropriate word to explain the situation is ghetto way by the representative on the phone TWICE (separate phone calls), it took about a few weeks for me to realize that in NO way shape or form am I going to be disrespected in such an extreme manner and give this place my money.I made the decision to stop seeing my ongoing doctor for the relentless, debilitating, depressing and life altering pain I have from chronic illness, all because of GEORGIA, the woman on the phone who answered my call. I make it a standard point of every call I make and every encountered to be overly nice to people - WHY? Because (1) Ive worked in many customer service focused jobs and (2) I have been through numerous traumatic events in my life, to the point where many people would have chosen to take their own lives due to it. I havent and I have become very empathetic because of this. I DO NOT put up with HIGH amounts of sick, disgusting rudeness when I am being perfectly kind and nice. GEORGIA interrupted me FOUR times within the 1st 30 seconds of the phone call. I told her I needed her to stop interrupted me so I could simply explain why I was calling the office - she did NOT like this and became MUCH more aggressive and unruly.I asked GEORGIA again and again to confirm her name on the phone (although I already had it, but Im a professional and confirm everything). She refused over 5 times and refused again and again and again to give me her Supervisors name/email/phone number.I called again, guess who answered the call. Georgia. You would think she would have been nicer after her blatantly rude call, NO, she chose to act like an animal. This woman had no provocation to act like she did. How does MHSI even HIRE someone like her??? I have worked in auditing & management for a pharma service company, Ive managed people like her on a team of hundreds. People like her DONT GET HIRED. What type of a manager chose to hire someone like this who you can plainly tell by the way she speaks isnt cut for the job.I tried to contact the manager. She BARELY tried to get back with me. When I worked for one of the largest Pharma companies in the world. ANYTIME a customer wanted to speak to management. They got someone. They were able to speak and their complaint was dealt with and documented.MHSI and management clearly doesnt operate to normal industry standards. It makes me wonder how they manage their doctors. Scary thought if they arent capable of managing call reps correctly.

Dr. Gilmer isnt a bad Dr... she just doesnt care....My son has seen Dr. Gilmer since he was 2 months old. We always get the FIRST appointment of the day! (I also have almost a 3 year old). The first appointment was at 9am... the doctor wasnt even present in the office until 12:45!!! there was no apology, no warning she was going to be almost 4 hours late! Then she proceeded to see other patients before us! If i didnt have to, I would never go back...

My daughter has been through a lot at a very young age The assistant that brought us back alexus is around her age and was a pleasure to talk too she made my daughter and I feel very comfortable and even gave my daughter an email to contact her outside of work. Dr gilmer helped my daughters life tremendously! I would strongly recommend her to anyone suffering with Chiari!!!

MHSI in any location is horrible. I went to their physical therapy and saw the doctor for over a year and now have to start from the beginning because they did not do anything to help me. Stay away from this place at all cost. YOU will never heal going to this practice. The doctors will tell you everything is fine when in fact you need multiple rehabilitations including vertigo treatment, physical therapy, massage therapy and mental health therapy. The practice is a known IME office. RUN!!!!!! Charged $1200.00 for massage therapy for 2 hours and over $11,000.00 for some MRIs. Several of their charges have been flagged due to excessive cost by the insurance company.PLEASE FIND A REAL DOCTOR WHO CARES IF YOU GET BETTER OR NOT, NOT ONE THAT JUST MAKES MONEY OFF OF YOU.

Worse place I have ever dealt with in my life. they sent me a checklist for what was needed for my appointment. I showed up with the checklist - with everything on it checked off. there was a form they needed which was not on the checklist so I was sent home - issue one. I rescheduled and had everything ready, waited another month and a half for the appointment (1/4 of a year now) and a couple days before the appointment they called me and said the doctor had to cancel. After several calls with uncaring, mentally callused individuals who seem to take perverse pleasure in others pain and torment - I am being told they are booked for the next 2 1/2 months. My wife intervened and a lady named Mary called me back and left a message when I was out of town - she seemed like the first nice person we have talked to from there. Unfortunately I have spend another half hour on the phone being bounced from department to department trying to find Mary. I will keep you posted.

After suffering lower back pain that worsened over several months, I tried everything short of surgery: Steroid Injections, medication, physical therapy. Nothing helped, until I consulted with Dr. Fahim for back surgery. I am now 6 months post-surgery and have not felt this good in years. His minimally invasive procedure resulted in a rapid post-op recoverry for me. If you or someone you know is suffering from lower back pain, I urge you to consult with Dr. Fahim to see if his surgical procedure is right for you, too.

My son recently moved to Southfield, MI from Atlanta GA. He is unable to walk without assistance, and has several herniated disk. He suffers from amnesia, fainting spells, and damaged eardrums. He takes several medications. We were expecting to be helped by Dr. Karl Freydl. His primary doctor referred him to Michigan Head and Spine(Novi, MI location). He made his first appointment 3-4 weeks prior to Demcember 11th. prior to The first appointment; the doctor office claimed to have not recieved his medical records. His primary doctor sent the medical records again. The same problem occurred. His memory is not good and he was confused the time of the first appointment and we rescheduled. The next appointment was scheduled a month out. We arrived to the appointment 5 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment which was at 8am. Once again the office did not have the medical records.Tearsa the front desk personal informed us that we should of brought the information(medical records) with us, and would not provide me with her superiors information. She stated that there was no case manager or human resources, and there was not a chain of authority. (That is not protocol for the transferring of medical records by the way). Doctor Karl Freydl then came to the front desk and said, I will see him anyway I dont have time to wait I have things to do. He then told us that he needs us to bring my sons medical records and he would make an assessment. I told him that this method of care is unprofessional and an assessment of his records should have been done before the appointment. Dr. Karl freydl then said, WHAT DO YOU WANT DRUGS!!! I and my son were DISGUSTED with the LACK OF CARE. What my son needed was a neurologist to help with his fainting spells. What my son needed was an ENT specialist to help with his hearing. What my son needed was to resume his physical therapy! What my son needed was to be seen by a psychiatrist.I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CARE WE RECEIVED AND THE WORDS OF DOCTOR KARL FREYDL.

Im embarrassed I spent time and money at MHSI. The waiting room is positively low-budget, with uncomfortable pleather chairs and no magazines for waiting family and friends. (These chairs are hardly suited for anyone experiencing pain, which would be typical at MHSI.) The assistant who brought me back asked me to step on a rickety scale which displayed at least three weights. Mmmkay, she said - I have no idea which weight she selected. When the doctor came in, I was standing and fidgeting because of extreme pain. After an introduction, he said, what can I do for you? I only found this odd because I was in obvious pain and at that moment it was not a time to spend with rhetorical questions. After a few minutes, I was told I clearly needed surgery. I needed it quickly, as i was in danger of further damage - most of which I couldnt comprehend since this was a blow to me. HOWEVER, my surgery could be delayed for two months if I were to go to the MHSI physical therapy clinic, the cost of which I dont know. Im sure there are good people at MHSI, but my impression was that it is a treatment-prescribing facility that utterly ignores real care or patient interaction. My appointment could not have lasted more than ten minutes, but I notice on my insurance claim the description is for a 45 minute appointment. I was looking for help and care, and I left with confusion and fear. A disappointment and setback, for sure.

If you have a personal injury or Social Security Disability claim, I would suggest you do not go to these offices. They are very slow to get records out and apparently dont like to fill out forms for the Social Security Administration. Which will kill your case/claim. This has been my experience as a paralegal - YMMV
