Don’t go here unless you want to pay $250 after they bill your insurance for $50 off the $300 total for a skin check and an acne cream prescription that was completed in under 10 minutes. When I made the appointment they immediately asked about insurance. Told my insurance was accepted. Just called the billing department and it’s my fault for not knowing about meeting my deductible. Never going here again. Thanks Wendy. Please send me an itemized list of charges to my address on file.

Very rushed appointment. My dermatologist could not wait to get out. I had an issue and she just put in an injection without telling me anything about the causes. 3 weeks later and the issue is still not resolved. Way to charge $400 for nothing but giving me a stronger prescription than curology for the same ingredients

Seattle is generally more expensive; Having said that, Dr. Collyer and his nurse Wendy generally go well above and beyond. For me theyve put in extra work, extra calls, paperwork, spend the time to answer questions, seem to have everything together.Ive been seeing them for several years now.

Make sure to understand the billing code before you decide to use Modern Dermatology for anything skin cancer related. I had a basal cell carcinoma removed and paid through the roof for a small excision which left a scar. The operation was coded for more inches than the standards recommended online. I had enough of them when they charged my annual skin examination as not preventative. After the skin cancer, my doctor recommended annual skin exams as a preventative measure but clearly this place doesnt agree with that...

My dermatologist of almost a decade closed their offices permanently due to the pandemic. Modern Dermatology was one of the alternate care providers they recommended. So far Ive had 1 appointment with Dr. Roman and was happy with the experience. I will be returning to Dr. Roman for future skin care.Scheduling was easy; Dr. Roman and I had a thorough discussion of my skincare history including issue areas and past/current medications. We even discussed a recent development skin development and she recommended some over-the-counter ingredients to look for and specific products to try, which I appreciated.

TLDR: bad logistic process, incredibly short appointment, surprise bill due to front desk people being inept, unprofessional doctor, failure to follow through. 2/5, would not go again, do not recommend.I found Modern Dermatology at the top of Yelp for Seattle and booked a consultation to get help with my skin care. I didn’t get any email or text reminding me of the appointment, but had marked it in my calendar so went in day of. Checked at the front desk what the cost would be that day for the consultation, but the woman said it was “covered by insurance so don’t worry about it.”I went in and talked briefly with the assistant; she then took a picture of my skin. Afterwards, the doctor came in. An interaction took place that would have been creepy if the assistant hadn’t been in the room - thankfully it ended up coming off as unprofessional instead. My appointment lasted 7 minutes. Prescribed me pills and cream, asked if I had questions, answered 1 and then was out the door. The assistant marked my paper as “under 10 minutes”. I went out feeling rushed and unsure how the treatment had been decided and unclear of the path forward. At the front, I checked again if I needed to pay anything, and then double-checked my email and phone number where the woman at the deck said I should be getting alerts 1 week in advance of the appointment. I went home, relatively unhappy, but probably a 2/5 experience.A few weeks later, my bill comes. Consultation of 7 minutes for almost 300 dollars.. something I would be happy to pay if the experience hadn’t been rushed and uncomfortable. Surprising, given that they had stated it was covered by insurance. What they MEANT was that they would bill insurance and insurance would bill me, so not great communication there.Last week, my pills run out. I think it must be time for my appointment, but no reminder. Thursday, I call to figure out if I have an appointment and yes - it’s Monday! Again, no text or email EVEN AFTER they explicitly told me I would get a text and an email 1 week before the appointment and I verified my info. (No the email wasn’t in my junk folder)I cancelled the appointment. 1/5 experience. Tiny redemption comes from them following up to see what went wrong and taking the feedback with empathy. No idea if it’ll be fixed, because I won’t be going back.

Bad service and a bit shady. Receptionist o the phone was rude, which should’ve clued me in to not come here. They also wouldn’t provide a quote for anything, and used having to run it past my insurance first as an excuse. I told them my insurance doesn’t cover this so I wanted to be able to budget in my visit and they still wouldn’t even give me ballpark numbers. The visit itself felt rushed, the doctor probably only saw me for 10 minutes and answered a few questions. The whole time he seemed impatient and as if he wanted to get out of there, and wasn’t actually very helpful. Naturally, they billed me for 30-45 minutes.Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, don’t just come here out of convenience like I did, you actually deserve better.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Roman for almost a couple years now and I have never had an issue with treatment or service. She and her team are attentive and professional. Many reviews mention feeling rushed, but I actually appreciate being able to get in and out and still feeling like I got what I needed. I never feel like I can’t ask questions or they don’t have time. But I can see how someone who doesn’t like a faster paced service could take it the wrong way. On the other hand, as an adult, you should be able to voice your needs (slowing down or whatever). They are also pretty busy (as any good business would be), but every time I call, they are able to squeeze me in due to cancellations during that call or they call me later, and they also do a good job scheduling out future appts so you’re already on the calendar. I also get reminder calls a couple days prior to my appt. I would recommend to anyone seeking derm services.

Went for some medical checks and sought out some aesthetic stuff after feeling comfortable with the staff. It takes a lot of trust to let someone work on my face, and I’ve had great results with everything from Dr. Collyer. Lots of great advice and options when I’ve asked for it, presented in a positive and low-pressure way. Very glad I have this location locked in for my dermatology needs.

I have been a long-time patient of Dr Collyer, having followed him from a previous practice. I think he is a great doctor and his medical staff have always be wonderful to work with. My rating is based entirely on my experience with the billing manager. On two occasions I spoke with her about the bill/charge for an annual skin check and my insurance carrier (in network) coverage of the service. When I spoke with her the second time, I found her to be as offensive as I did the first time around. She was argumentative and threatening about the consequence of making the payment my insurance company said is owed my me.

Ive been amazed by Modern Dermatology! Dr. Roman has been incredibly empathetic and determined in helping me heal my skin. Ill admit Im usually one to avoid going to doctor appointments, but Dr. Roman has been so attentive, detailed, kind, and knowledgeable and has always validated my concerns and helped me find solutions. She has been available to help me with several different issues, and has always given me thorough attention and care. Im so grateful for her in my skin healing journey!Dr. Collyer helped me through some severe eczema outbreaks, and has been friendly, caring, and informative as well! The staff overall is incredibly friendly. I got to know the staff very well as I was coming in three times a week. The front desk knew me by name, were extremely courteous and helpful in keeping the reception area clean and safe during COVID. They also made appointment scheduling (even multiple bookings every week) super easy! I have never felt so comfortable and at ease while going to a doctor appointment. I always felt validated, cared for, and respected. Huge shout outs to all the nurse techs who were always smiling, encouraging, and empathetic to my journey. I appreciate you all more than you know!

I have been a patient of Dr Collyers for several years. He is a terrific doctor; smart, kind, and patient. His new clinic is clean and modern and the staff is super friendly. I have been to the clinic several times and have had only good experiences. I am baffled by the bad reviews. Some people expect the world to revolve around them. Guess what? It doesnt. And about the long wait time for new patients wanting an appointment. I understand that they have added a new MD to the practice, but be aware that this is a private practice not affiliated with a major hospital. If you need an appointment immediately, go to an urgent care center or call one of the corporate giants who have many dermatologists on staff. Dont trash this clinic just because you didnt get an appointment when you wanted one.

I went for a skin cancer screening last year. The office is very modern and sterile and Dr. Rogers was not friendly at all but not rude. It seemed like she knew what she was doing. I wanted to get another screening because I have a couple moles I want checked and they cant get me in for two months. For a simple, short appointment. There are plenty of good dermatologists out there so unless you always know way in advance about any skin issues youre going to have, I dont recommend this place.

Modern, clean, efficient, professional and easily accessible via transit. I was escorted into the exam room promptly at my scheduled appointment time, 9:20, by a friendly technician who then quickly organized for surgery. Dr. Collyer entered 2 minutes later. James is warm, knowledgeable, competent and enjoys what he does. The minor procedure was painless, confidently executed, neatly sutured/dressed.Having had several procedures done here already, I am thoroughly impressed with their interaction and attention to patient comfort/care. Not only have I healed up beautifully, but their appointment reminders (via automated text) and quick billing to my insurance were a definite plus. They carry quality products and were helpful in suggesting to this skin-care novice, bottom line creams for prophylactic skin cancer protection and health.Plan ahead when scheduling an appointment. Their practice, in the bustling area of SLU/Amazon, seems to keep them fully booked. They are in the process of adding a 3rd physician.

I tried to get a consultation for a simple procedure and they were unable to even give me an estimate for the cost. Not what insurance would pay. Not what I was responsible for. Just the cost of the consultation and procedure. They wouldn’t even offer a range, estimate, or average pricing. So how am i supposed to know how much a “consultation” is going to cost until it’s already happened and I’m stuck with an exorbitant bill. Very underwhelmed with how unprofessional and uncaring this place is. Avoid if you can and see someone else

Wow!I was shocked to see any reviews less than five stars! Then I read them, and the negative reviews were about how far booked out they are.Have you ever tried to book an appointment with a dermatologist? There is a terrible shortage of them and they are ALL booked out...especially the awesome ones like Dr. Collyer and Dr. Rogers!I’m a dentist of 35 years and run a high-tech dental clinic that seems like the dental equivalent of Modern Dermatology. World-Class clinicians, the best technology, phenomenal staff. Did I mention they are also DELIGHTFUL?I almost never write reviews and probably shouldn’t be writing this...it will make it harder still to get an appointment! But no way they aren’t getting 5 stars from me...I couldn’t possibly be more impressed!

Ive been seeing Dr. Collyer at Modern Dermatology for just less than a year now. He is incredibly professional and thorough, and is by far my favorite dermatologist of 4-5 others I have seen in the past. His medical assistant, Danielle, is also professional, helpful, and understanding. They make a great team and there is no doubt excellent patient care is their top priority. Every time Ive arrived for an appointment I have been taken back on time and have not waited more than a few minutes for Dr. Collyer to arrive. I would highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a dermatologist in Seattle. My best friend is a patient of Dr. Rogers and has also had a great experience. When I have interacted with Dr. Rogers briefly in the office she has always seemed friendly and professional. The scheduling waits and interactions with some front office staff leave something to be desired. I believe the doctors are aware of this and working to improve it any way they can. The practice is still relatively new and sometimes this can take a bit to figure out. I did have to wait for my new patient appointment, but I am happy I did because this has been my favorite dermatology experience by far. Thanks for the hard work, Dr. Collyer, Dr. Rogers, and Danielle!

I dont think people should give a bad review just because they cant get in right now and they have never been seen there. If you are fortunate to get an appointment two months out, take it and get established as a patient. Chances are youve had that mole several months already.Ive seen both Dr. Rogers and Dr. Collyer and think they are both wonderful! As someone who had severe sun damage in childhood and has ongoing skin cancer issues, I am glad that my dermatologists are ethical enough to ensure my medical care is not interrupted by the right now crowd.I like the variety of skin cancer treatments they offer so I am not always being cut on.
