I absolutely love this insurance. I used to pay an arm and a leg for Health Net, now I pay about half of what I did before, and this insurance covers more than my old plan. The rates are very reasonable, and I’ve never had any issues or surprises! Prescriptions are covered at Walgreens. Highly recommend.

Tried to make an appointment with my primary doctor, but his contact number doesnt work, santa Clara medical center(in my network) can not help you to find any doctor, vhp support can not help as well... VHP make money on nothing , they dont provide any services but in the same time receive $500 each month.

0 stars. Please do not enroll with them and chose Kaiser instead or just donate the money to something else. In my three years with them only once i needed to see a doctor and first of all its really hard to reach the customer service and they hung up on me saying the system is not working and they would give a callback which they never did.We wasted 3 years of premium and VHP abandoned us 1 time we needed them. I should have joined Kaiser sooner as their service with our parents have been 5 star exceptional where seeing a doctor or checking up is so easy.Now, i am not even sure this institution exists. So, save your money, and get 5 star service from Kaiser Permanente or stay with VHP and be ready to be told their system is not working and they will give you a callback while you absolutely need an medical emergency and risk your health.

If I could give this insurance zero star I would. Customer service will hang up on you and 99% guarantee will not give you a call back if promised. They will cut you off from your insurance without telling you and you will get a tax penalty so if you want to enter this nightmare, go for it. Their website is developed poorly and erases your payment history so you cant claim that you have made payments. Dont get me started on their processing team. If you want anything to be changed, good luck waiting for at least a month. Theres other options out there, dont choose VHP

Honestly the worst health insurance experience possible. It’s been over six months, still no health insurance card despite dozens of phone calls to request. Half of the time they don’t answer the phone. It’s been a struggle at every turn. AVOID THIS INSURANCE

Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had with an insurance agency. Website is convoluted and information is inaccurate. Customer support is useless, couldnt even explain to me the specifics of my coverage. Terribly disappointed, a simple clinic visit turned into a nightmare of a day and I never even got the care I needed. DO NOT USE THIS TRASH PROVIDER

I’ve had nothing short of wonderful experience with Valley Health Plan. When I had signed up, I did it because it was what was economical for me and my family at the time. I’ve been with them two years now. I’ve paid less than half the price I did with Health Net, and have never had any issues I had before. So basically, I’m paying less and getting way more than I was with my last insurance.

I have been a member of VHP for a year now its a nightmare, Im glad Im finally switching to another plan. First of all, the customer service center will NEVER get back to you as promised. Dont get me started on their email customer service because they will not respond with a logical answer but instead some automatic nonsense. Second of all, they will scam you out of your bills and get you penalized on your tax returns because their treasury department is extremely unorganized. Based on my personal experiences, they have changed my monthly payment randomly, put me off my insurance without notifying me--resulting in a tax penalty. They have even gone far as to deleting my payment history and claiming that I have not paid when I do so monthly. What they do is they cut you off your health plan and threaten to not reinstate you until you give them a certain amount (for my case, the requested amount doesnt even add up to my monthly payment). If you want to get scammed and are not willing to consistently call to remind them EVERYDAY then go ahead and choose this nightmare of a company.

Months to get into see a doc. Doc can’t remember you from one visit to the next because of so many patients. Requests to see a specialist are usually denied in the event the dr places a request expect waiting months and months to get a decision in the mail. My requests were always denied. It’s a charade of insurance. I went with a new plan and complete difference I saw my specialist quick he was able to help and now I have relief I’m getting treatment for my chronic health condition. No more charade. Vhp just seems to leave people with nothing.

Absolutely worst insurance I have ever used. Some of their customer service people are absolutely horrible and talk to patients like we are inconveniencing them by calling. Not only that, but almost every time I call them to fix mistakes that they have caused, they say that I am not a member with them. Only after I point out to them that Ive had this conversation with them a million times and that Im clearly paying monthly premiums and they are clearly reimbursing my healthcare does it finally click.Please save yourself the headache and pay an extra $20/month or whatever it is to use a different insurance. If you dont, youre going to have to pay extra medical bills due to the extra stress you go through.

Referral for procedures are denied without true reasons. They may approve the same procedure at this time and denied another time even same doctor, same facility. Has no clues.

Come on! it is 2019, and you guys still cant afford to update the online payment system? It been 2 months and i still havent received my insurance card. What are you guys even doing? customer service is a joke, i was speaking to someone like who hate doing their job. I could have getting better answer by talking to a robot. who is running this company, why isnt the company getting sue?

Miserable (non-existent) customer service. After seeing Kaiser raise premiums 20% for 2019 I decided to switch to Valley Health Plan since I’m healthy and probably wouldn’t have to utilize their services. I tried to select a doctor and had some basic questions but NEVER was able to speak with a VHP representative other than Sara who took my phone number assuring a call back in 24 hours. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK…. EVER. If this institution cannot handle basics administrative tasks I’m not going to trust them with my health.

They charged $$$ for the month I was not covered from VHP. I called VHP a few time last week and today, but no service rep will pickup your call , your call always end up to a voice box, I left message, but they never return my phone call. 2/21/2020

I chose VHP because I was hoping this insurance will be different from the rest of its competitors on the market, I was wrong, I should have looked at the reviews.Lets start with the payment system:- No auto-payment, which is ok, as least they would let you pay the bill digitally by entering the invoice number onto the web. Cool.- It was cool until I could not pay my first payment, no matter what I did, the web did not register my invoice number. Gave them a call, they said I already paid which I did not as I was out of the country at the point of payment, they said I might have paid double on my initial payment, well, that was not the case because I had the invoice from that payment which clearly states I did not overpay.- Emailed them about the issue, explained everything, never got any response back.- The following month, I got the bill for 2 payments (1 for that month and 1 for that previous month that I told them about I could not pay my bill). My plan is expensive, I need that plan for my treatment, I live paycheck to paycheck, this was indeed annoying, it was like having a hanging debt the whole time.- Payment for last month, no invoice was sent to my email like how it has always been. If you dont save the billing page after making payment, you wont know your invoice number.Please fix your payment system, and probably at least work on an issue when your customers point it out, it was hilariously ridiculous.Customer service:- I have no long wait time like most reviews here, but please fix your phone line, the call quality is horrible, can hardly hear half the time.- As stated from above, work on the issue your customers point out or at least let us know youre working on it.- It looks like when I asked something that they do not want to answer, they would not answer, I gave up contacting them.Copay issue, people here have given enough feedback.OH! IF YOU ARE TO GO TO A DOCTOR WITHOUT GOING TO THE PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN FIRST, THEY WILL NOT COVER YOU! I REPEAT! THEY WILL NOT COVER YOU EVEN IF YOU GO TO AN IN NETWORK PROVIDER!

Made the mistake of choosing this just to have healthcare coverage, as that’s now a requirement, while I had a lapse of coverage due to starting a new job. Never used the insurance and canceled it April 31st due to now having insurance through new employer and no longer qualifying for Covered CA. Once you get in you can never get out. I’m still receiving bills months later for thousands of dollars.

VHP claims to have $0 Copay for Prevention Services, right on their website. Nice! So I went in for a free physical checkup one of the network providers (Indian Health Center): They examined me, ordered blood tests, and made an appointment for me to discuss the results three weeks later. At check-in 3 weeks later, they asked me to pay $75 copay... I asked why I need to pay, because this was part of the physical to get the results, right?? Haha -- they said the follow-up visit to get the results were considered a regular doctor visit. Isnt that crazy to advertise free physicals but then you need to pay for results and advice how to prevent diabetes, heart disease and other common issues when the blood work comes back? When calling VPH to verify that they dont reimburse the provider for free follow-up visits, they said that maybe I can try calling them to get results. Sounds like a big joke, doesnt it... So much for a working preventive care program...

I wish I saw the reviews before choosing VHP over Kaiser due to distance. I’d have driven 3x further from VHP with my current knowledge.After they dumped my contracted doctors leaving a serious shortage, I was expected to call in “every once and a while” to see if there was an opening. I finally got to see a doctor, 4 months later, in the ER.

They have system error and did not enroll me into the there plan for 3 months. So i was not covered for the pass 3 months, then i cancel my plan though covered california. Guess what? Today i got a letter from VHP and ask me for the pass 3 months fee. What?! I wasnt covered for 3 months and now you ask me for the money.

Absolutely terrible, told me highest copay would be $20, I actually pay almost $100 for my medication. They assigned me a doctor, worst doctor ever, holy hell, barely any English, office was in a terrible area, smelly office area, rude employees, all around trash. No insurance is better than VHP to be honest.

According to VHP, Stanford is the ONLY place VHP has contract for the specialist that I need. However they kept giving me Palo Alto medical’s phone number to call. The customer service person Connie G cant even give out a correct phone number for me to reach Stanford medical center. I am so confused at this point. It took almost 3 weeks to get my referral and now I have trouble to schedule for a damn appointment. Serious virus may kill hundreds, but stupid insurance company/policy will kill thousands…..VHP is going to lose their business soon. It doesnt matter how much PR they are doing.

God damn it... I should have checked VHPs rating before I paid. Im so regret now... So I paid my first bill on time, but I still havent received my insurance card after 1 full month. I wonder do they have such thing? Oh, by the way, they will never delay your bill. Alright, maybe i should call them to see whats going on. So I called on 1/28/2016, waited not too long, and the rep told me that my insurance card was mailed on 1/21/2016, so she suggested me to wait few more days. hummm... first of all, I made my first payment in Dec. 2015, they processed my payment one day right after that, but took them more than 3 weeks to mail out the damn card? yet, seems it was lost in mail. I called them again to request another one. This time, I waited so long for customer service. At the end, I got hung up, twice.Well, my experience is just for your reference, if you still want to choose VHP, I wish you will have better luck.

Made two premium payments and still never received an insurance card. They never pick up when you call. Oh hand they only accept online payments via invoice number which you receive in the mail. Talk about backwards. Terrible experience.

If you are reading this because you were wondering which insurance provider to choose, DO NOT CHOOSE VALLEY HEALTH. They have terrible customer service and the only way to receive bills is through mail (which they DO NOT SEND IN HOPES YOU FORGET TO PAY). Also, if you need to visit the doctor/hospital/etc, Valley Health will make sure you only have wait couple months before receiving treatment or medication

Took forever to schedule get any appointments scheduled and I cancelled our insurance with VHP Nov. 2016 and I keep getting bills even though I notified them via fax in writing several times and verbally over the phone.
