Going to Japantown Dental for the first time for a cleaning and checkup was the best experience I could have hoped for. I left a voicemail to request and appointment, and was called back very promptly. The receptionist was professional and looked up my insurance right away to ensure I was covered. The office itself felt spacious and soothing as soon as I stepped inside. The receptionist was friendly and quick to get me checked in. I appreciated that they have electronic intake forms. My hygienist was super friendly, professional, yet relatable. She had a level of expertise that I hadnt seen in past hygienists. Dr. Alex himself is warm, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I trust him and his staff. I am very pleased with the level of care I received.

I have had a lot of “caps”. My least favorite part of the process is getting the new tooth to fit with my other teeth. At Dr. Mendoza’s office the site of my new cap was recorded on a computer. When the cap was put in the bite required absolutely no adjusting! Wow. Wow.

I needed emergency dental work this morning. They fit me in within a couple of hours, identified the problem, and had it all resolved within three hours of my call. No pain. Incredibly fast. I could not be more satisfied with a dental experience.

Dr. Mendoza is very warm, honest and gives a clear explanation of the treatment. Hes always checking in before, during and after the procedures to see if you have questions or just to see how youre doing.

Met Dr. Mendoza on my last visit. I am very pleased with the level of service provided by his office, he kept the same ambience as the old owner. And was not only very professional but very tentative to my needs and comfort as a patient. Already recommended him to a customer of mine when complaining about their dentist. Will gladly do it again.

This office was really nice- I felt relaxed in light of the pandemic. It felt more upscale than my last dentist, but they didn’t try to upswell me on cosmetic procedures (thank you!). Just gave me a very detailed cleaning and were kind and patient. I’m very happy to be a patient there. Dr Mendoza has a very calming manner.

Ive had many crowns and now new crowns to replace the old worn out crowns along with 4 DDSs. Just had two back to back crown replacements and it was hard for me to believe that this at first being the most dreaded turned out to be the best crown replacement experience of all.

So far, Dr Mendoza is a “hit” with me. I needed fillings to some of my lower front teeth and I was nervous about having it done. To start I didn’t even realize Dr. Mendoza had begun the numbing process. He’s really good at this. Never saw a needle even though I’m not afraid of needles. I went onto painlessly have two fillings put in Very efficient very nice work. I’m going to go in for a cap on a back molar Dr. Jerry diagnosed. Will let you know how that experience goes.

Dr. Mendoza did a great job! It was my first visit to this office for a bi-annual cleaning. Dr. Mendoza was very attentive to make sure I was comfortable during the exam. He kept me informed of the procedure he and his assistant were performing. This dental office is very professional and well run. Even though San Jose is under COVID restriction, I felt very safe. Everyone in the office followed safety protocol with lots of sanitizing. Im glad to have Dr. Mendoza be mine and my familys dentist.

Excellent experience and I can highly recommend Dr. Mendoza and staff! Ive been to Japantown Dental three times since moving to CA last year (minor TMJ emergency/concern, routine cleaning, and filling appt), and each was 100% positive and fully adhered to social distancing rules. The office is clean and everyone is kind, and theyre all up front about costs and time expectations.Having to get a filling is never fun, but I can attest to being in and out of the office in just half and hour and with no pain. Dr. Mendoza and staff are always very patient and willing to take time to ensure you are doing alright at each step, and take the time to explain and answer questions (no rushed feeling whatsoever).Id give 6 stars if I could. :)

Japantown dental has been my dental office for the past 4 years. The staff and assistants always treat me well and visits always go through smoothly. Dr. Alex has done well with the practice and helped with my emergency appointment. He saw me immediately and the visit went perfectly.

Best dentist ever!!!! Always in an out. Cleaning takes about 1 hour and fillings take about 30 minutes.

What a find! Omg I was so stressed about finding a good dentist office with a good dentist and good front office team. And then that slight sensitivity wouldnt go away and the panic turned into dead fear. From the moment I called they were on top of it, friendly, and effect. That rare blend of authentic warmth and service.I felt like family right away with my consultation-Xray with Cynthia. She’s amazingly sweet and caring. I hadn’t been to the dentist in like years (don’t judge!!!) and they all made me feel at ease about the visit. hahahahahah And Dr Yee was fantastic. He listens and he genuinely cares. Super thoughtful and patiently explained the work and the options. Oh and my filling is top notch! Yay! I don’t have that weird tap-tap feeling. Normally you have a day or two bite readjustment and there’s been nothing. I can barely feel the difference.

Wish I could give 6 stars!I had a crown fall off, and well, I am living on very little money these days. I sure could not afford a new one, for instance. Fortunately the tooth below had been root canald and was still sound and stable, and it was a matter of cleaning up the crown and the tooth, and Dr. Ueno was so friendly and professional, not being satisfied with just re-cementing the tooth, but also trimmed the crown where it was too high, making for an imperfect bite which is probably why it came off after a couple decades of service. To be a dentist is to be part doctor, engineer, craftsman, artist, and friend. Dr. Ueno is all of these.
