The vegan dessert section is AMAZING and nearly all locally made. I went here nearly everyday to satisfy my sweet tooth. I loved the Plentiful vegan cheesecakes and vegan snicker bars. I recommend this place to anyone visiting SD/Ocean Beach

This is my all time favorite market. It fed my daughter from 1974 until she left home for college, and it feeds my hubby and me now, with great organic produce, site-made salads, hot entrees and cookies (and other goodies), and a great selection of other organic foods and sundries. The facility is a model of sustainability, and the staff are warmly welcoming and endlessly helpful. Come shop, with or without a membership (membership saves money) and enjoy OB in all its unique perfection. See ya there!

Nice variety for the size. Customer service is pretty good. They have clean enough bathrooms. The main thing I didnt like was being told to go from one place to another to another over a gift card.They had fresh oyster mushrooms, lions mane, and figs. They had Thai ginger, turmeric, and lots of fresh produce. They even had green banana flour?! Cool. I didnt even know it existed. Lol! So.. yeah. Lots of fun stuff.

Over the top vegetarian store. Super friendly staff, good prices, wide selection of goods and many options for take away food. 👍My daughter used to work there about 18 years ago. She was in town and wanted to go there, but thinking that she would not see anyone she knew from back then... First person at the door was an old friend, then another upstairs. Must be a good place to work for. 👍

Since they decided to sabotage the customers and take away the wonderful amazing bulletin section outside of the store I will no longer support this store, and I will tell all my friends and neighbors and customers at my local business how this particular business peoples is no longer a friendly place to shop.I hope they replace all management very quickly

The legendary Peoples Market is one of the first and best health food stores in the United States. Its a true co-op and the owners are dedicated social activists. This is one of the most important businesses in San Diego and the crown jewel of Ocean Beach.

Never been in before. My sweetie had been in before, and we popped in. Strong on organic foods, with lots of choices. I must admit, mushroom jerky was a surprise find. Never would have thought of that one:) She picked the hickory smoked. Turns out to be quite tasty!

Come for the organic groceries downstairs, stay for the unrivaled vegan sandwiches (get one with the tempeh bacon!) and housemade salads in the deli upstairs. Everyone here is so friendly too. My partner and I come here just about every other day when we’re in town. We can’t get enough!

Theres very little that I dont love about Ob Peoples Market.While there was hand sanitizer available for you to help yourselves, not everyone was wearing masks. There were plastic sneeze guards in place at the registers however and Im not saying whether mask wearing is good or bad or even if it works or doesnt, Im just reporting the facts.The restroom was clean and available for my relief.I got a few fair trade chocolate bars and mini denominations of dehydrated organic fruit.While the deli up stairs is probably my favorite place to eat in San Diego, I didnt buy anything today though the cold case looked hecka abundant

I love People’s! We recently relocated to OB and we live nearby. As a vegetarian, it’s awesome to go into a store and not worry about reading labels. Items are all organic and vegetarian are priced accordingly. They have good member sales, too. I’ve never seen another grocery store like it (plus it’s nice to be an owner and have say in what the store does)! Thanks for bringing great food to OB.

This is a great local market, owned by its members. They have a surprisingly large variety of groceries offered at reasonable prices and great produce as well. Today, I purchased some things, stepped outside and the bag broke, leading to me dropping the bottle of the single thing that led me to visit in the first place. I returned to the store to purchase a replacement and the young lady who previously rang me out acknowledged the issue and went out of her way to help. I am really impressed and glad I found OBPOM. Ive been leaving OB for my groceries as the other locals are quite limited and expensive but Ill come here first from now on

I am so happy they have bulk alkaline water, and from a highly reputable national Water Company: Fresh Pure Waters. The actual treatment center is in the back of the store. This is just the Dispenser! Yeah!! Good job!!

This place blew me away. I got the tempeh breakfast sandwich at the deli and it was amazing, a very reasonable price too. The staff was very friendly and the grocery section was very well stocked! Easy parking in their parking lot.

Lovely local CO-OP been around since forever. Nice selection of organic and natural products, all organic produce, excellent cafe upstairs (reasonably priced, too). $15 for a one year membership gets you discounts on all products and a warm glow from supporting an ethical community institution.

Love this place. Well organized and love having everything be organic. Only complaint is that I wish it was an all vegan market instead of vegetarian. Baby cows need their mamas milk.

My daughter and I live the sit down area on the balcony here! Great food and great atmosphere close to the beach and walkable to everything!! Really cute store also as you walk in and the kids area with toys and clothes to look in as you first enter the store. We loved it there! And it just feels more quaint and cozy than a regular grocery store even though it’s still plenty big and has everything one could need! And more than you could ever think that a place could offer. It has real local and Unix products also!

Not only a great place for veggies, fruit and staples, but the employees are attentive and helpful. Their cleanliness standards are high and they are a safe place for seniors to shop during the pandemic. As a member for almost 40 years, I commend them for all they do to provide for a great shopping experience.

WOW I can’t believe everybody in San Diego isn’t rushing to this store. It’s 100% organic and decently priced. There peanut butter and honey dispenser is just unbelievably good. The other good thing about this place is that it’s owned by the people, there’s no corporate greed here. I feel great about shopping here! They really need to improve their marketing game because I never heard of this place until a friend told me about it.

Love this place. My only complaint is that theyre not bigger and open longer hours. They are rarely out of the items that we buy all the time and were one of the first grocery stores in the area to actually enforce social distancing measures as the result of covid-19. They clearly take the safety and health of their members seriously. The prices are also better than most others for almost everything we buy.

Been here several times a took a friend thats never been. We had a delicious lunch upstairs and shopped around after. Everyone is super nice, very knowledgeable and 100% there when you need.

Always a pleasant experience, lots of organic and vegan items, although i mostly go for produce and bulk items. Packaged items are more expensive than chain stores, so i get those items elsewhere but for bulk spices, dried items an produce they are great.

This is a nice co-op. It’s nice to have a place to go for quality food. I was a little surprised that it appeared to not have any meat but that’s fine. Responsible but my kids aren’t ready for a vegetarian diet yet so we needed to go to another store as well.

Its OB. If you get that, you get it. Over priced for my liking. My Vegan child loves to frequent this establishment, so we go. Lots of vitamins. Small store for a market, but its in OB, once again, and there is not a lot of large retail space available. Its cool for what it is, a healthy mental awareness store.

Great spot for real food, groceries, healthcare products and great people

This is my go-to place for food I trust to be the healthiest in town. Its not the cheapest, but excellent value. The upstairs deli has a surprising variety of hot and cold dishes. The prepared salads are creative and delightful, usually 5 or 6 different ones. There is also a self serve salad bar and two daily soup selections.

Tell you the truth I havent been there before, but walking by it like all other businesses they are clean fun and full of life need help, not to worry the employees always go out of there way to ensure you made the right choice.

OB Peoples Coop is one of the best places in town to get fresh and healthy food. Its a member owned Coop (Ive been a member since moving to San Diego in 2007) but anyone can shop there for a small price bump. Peoples stocks almost all organic produce and a lot of it is local to San Diego county for folks who care about their foods carbon footprint. They do not stock any animal products that require the harming of animals. You can find bulk organic maple syrup (Maine girl here- I need my maple syrup) and bulk local honey to help with seasonal allergies as well as bulk oils, grains, nuts, and many other bulk items for those of us who prefer to go home from shopping with less packaging. They have a kitchen upstairs with great salads and hot dishes, coffe and tea, baked goodies, and a comfortable seating area. Check it out.

Im missing the pre-covid OBPs. Covid era oppressions are making operations tough for many. OBPs is still doing a great job and keeping very well supplied. Bravo!

This place is heaven on earth. OB would not be OB without it. Peoples has got the best produce selection I have ever seen on the mainland United States. Everything in this store is so thoughtfully curated and it feels great to trust that anything you see in that store has met a certain criteria of standards. The deli upstairs is a staple for me. This place is not only a vegetarian or vegans dream, but an excellent place for non-veg individuals to enjoy the best of the best quality food.

What a selection great place to shop

This is an obviously awesome market, you can tell from the outside it is a community venue. They have fresh produce, friendly staff, but I went in looking for high mineral water and surprised to see only spring water with c02.. I was disappointed, but probably just something no one noticed. Great community hub.

The upstairs deli is just the best. So relaxed, cute little balcony to eat outside, simple super yummy food, ok prices, nice staff, great atmosphere. The supermarket itself is too expensive I find.

They have the best vegan lunch in town, it varies per day but its always tasty. They have pre-made sandwiches downstairs or you order your own upstairs. My favorites are their soups, Ive loved each one I have tasted. They have different salad and hot food everyday.. plus the desserts taste incredible.Their produce is all organic, fresh and delicious. And the entire grocery area is filled with very good choices to nourish your body.

The bulk food section is extensive! Bring your own jars or bags, they will gladly tare them at the front registers. There are a lot of cool vegetarian/vegan options. Their is also a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies, vegan cleaning and personal products, and bulk spices! Whats not to love?

Peoples is great for produce with a home grown delicious flavor. Their store is mostly organic foods and they like to have locally sourced foods. You can also find sustainable products. They have a neat vegan deli upstairs that is pretty tasty, even for non vegetarians/vegans. The only down side I can really think regarding this place is the price of things. However, when youre really concerned about the quality of the stuff you buy, its definitely worth it!

Great produce....I love apples and this place never disappoints me. I have found products here cheaper than Sprouts. They have much, even though the store is not big. Upstairs they have a great hot food / salad cafe, which is very reasonably priced. For $15/year membership is really totally worth joining.
