Everyone here has been overwhelmingly positive towards my goals and success. Tom took his time to personally contact me when I joined giving any information I asked for and his own opinions on what could be best for me. The community is very open to everyone and theres nothing better than the support from the people around you cheering you on to finish a workout.

I have been to many CrossFit gyms over the years and wish I would have come here sooner. The coaches have a lot of experience, knowledge and give great feedback. My lifting has improved since I started. The gym itself is spacious, clean and there is a lot of equipment. Everyone is super nice no matter what level of CrossFit you are at. My girlfriend and I joined Crossfit ATR about six months ago. We were looking for a positive change in our fitness and a strong community. We found just that at ATR. They have experienced coaches, great original programming, and a diverse clientele. Ive seen much improvement in my strength, both upper body and lower. Ive also maintained my running ability from my prior running program. My girlfriend as found strength she didnt know she could have and loves the feeling of exhaustion after a challenging WOD. She also gets really good attention and coaching ques that help her tap into abilities she couldnt do on her own.We have also made friends in several of the classes that we do activities outside of the gym. Its great to meet people around our same age with a focus on being active and healthy.

I started attending CrossFit ATR seven weeks ago and I’m feeling the best I have felt in a long time. I suffered from constant headaches due to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Last year, my doctor told me I either needed to get in shape or start taking blood pressure pills. Ipurchased a Peloton and did that 4 to 5 times a week for almost 6 months. Even though I lost 15 pounds, the headaches continued and I hit a plateau with the weight loss. That’s when I decided to look into other workouts. I tried HIIT classes but that wasn’t cutting it since it was just mostly cardio which I had already been doing. A friend of mine recommended I start to lift weights but I had no clue where to begin since I had never lifted weights in my life. My friend convinced me to join CrossFit ATR and it has literally been life changing. I recently went back to my doctor for my yearly check up and he was in shock with my progress. My blood pressure is back to normal levels and most importantly, my headaches are gone. And as an added bonus, I have lost 13 lbs in the past 7 weeks and 2 inches from my waistline.I think the biggest difference between ATR and other workout classes is the incorporation of weightlifting and the personal attention the coaches give everyone. The coaches are there step by step with you and scale everything for all fitness levels. I normally take the noon class and there are all types of people there. From 10 years experience to beginners like me. One of the cooler parts about this gym is how friendly, helpful and encouraging everyone is.ATR itself is very spacious and has several workout stations. The workout equipment is in good shape and they recently put in new floors. There is plenty of parking and 5 individual showers.Overall, I feel this is the best deal in San Diego and would recommend it to everyone. Special shout out to the awesome coaches who have helped me transform my health and body in just a couple of months.

I have been involved with CrossFit since September 2012. The gym that I was attending Closed their CrossFit Division and I was recommended to check out CrossFit ATR. The BEST decision I have ever made about my Health and Fitness. I am now 66 years young and have been an Athlete all my life. I have continued to compete at a high level in Basketball & Beach Softball (OTL) as well as play other sports, golf, biking, water & snow ski, etc. When I was 38 while playing softball I slid into 3rd base and tore my ACL, doctors never suggested repair. . The past 12 years I have been wearing a DonJoy High Performance Brace to assist with knee alignment. Fast forward to my time at ATR where Tom Hill and his staff have been working with me getting my body stronger in ALL ways in preparation to my Full Knee Replacement. Oh and prior to my surgery this year I competed in a National Basketball Tournament, OTL Championship and walked the Camino Trail from Leon Spain to Santiago de Compostela Spain. I am now 3 ½ weeks out from Surgery and my Physical Therapist said that I am presenting like I am 6 weeks out. I owe all of my success to Tom Hill and his Staff and CrossFit ATR providing the knowledge, support and modifications of exercise to benefit my needs and body! There is an inviting atmosphere for newcomers to CrossFit (like I was) and if you have been doing CrossFit for a while, there is a community of people there that are very committed to the sport There is an emphasis on technique and form that can be missed in the hustle-and-bustle of other CrossFit gyms. The coaches will critique your form (if needed) and encourage you throughout the workout. Each coach there wants you to improve. The facility is huge, well-equipped and clean. The class sizes are not too big so the coaches can walk around during the workout to see how each person is progressing. Both the coaches and members are incredibly welcoming so you won’t feel intimated on Day 1. You’ll love going there!

As someone who decided to go to CrossFit ATR because of its superb ratings online, I wanted to confirm that it not only meets the hype; but vastly exceeds it. When I first started training at CrossFit ATR, one of my primary concerns was the safety of the movements wed be doing; especially because most of them were new to me. After training at CrossFit ATR for three years, I can confidently say that the coaches always stress the importance of safety and go-over each movement step-by-step at the beginning of class. Furthermore, the coaches at ATR carefully watch each class and will help correct any issues with an athlete who may be struggling with a movement. Beyond CrossFit ATRs prioritization of safety, the coaches are fantastic individuals who truly care about their members and want the individual to achieve their goals just as badly as the member does. The other thing that I love about CrossFit ATR is how accessible and scalable it is for everyone. The members of the gym range from all ages and walks of life; and the workouts can be structured and scaled to meet each participants difficulty level. Ive never once been forced to complete a workout that made me feel uncomfortable or one that I thought was dangerous. Outside of the training aspect of CrossFit ATR the community here is fantastic. Ive made several friends during my time at CrossFit ATR and there are social events that occur outside the gym approximately once every two months. There are so many other positives that I could go on and on about in regards to CrossFit ATR, so I thought it might be easier to create a list summarizing the highlights:- Passionate coaches that truly care about their members- Safety is a priority- Flexible class times that can meet your schedule (3 classes in the morning, one at noon, and 4 classes in the afternoon)- Olympic lifting classes on Thursday nights and Sunday morning (at no extra charge)- Powerlifting classes coaching and classes on Monday nights- Top of the line facility with plenty of space and equipment for each member- Workouts that vary every single day that are completely scalable to meet the difficulty needs of each member- Outstanding community that day-by-day feels more like a family- Parking is never an issue- Five bathrooms and showers- The gym uses an application called Wodify to track the performance of each athleteAll in all there isnt enough I can say about CrossFit ATR, other than to come and try it for yourself and smash your athletic goals.

When my last CrossFit gym shut down, it took me a while to find another gym to join. I went to several different CrossFit gyms and none compared to ATR. After my first drop in class I knew right away I was ready to sign up and become a member. The coaches here are amazing. All of them are super knowledgeable and offer different specialties based off their field of study. The members are also great, everyone is really nice and encouraging. My biggest selling point was how big the gym is and the amount of equipment they have. The gym is bigger than most CrossFit gyms in San Diego. My last gym had one GHD and like 4 assault bikes, so I almost always had to sub those out for something else. ATR has plenty of bikes and rowers. They also have a huge rig that can be adjusted to attach GHDs and dip bars, so there is lots of space for lifting and pull ups. They also have a great Barbell club with designated Olympic Weightlifting platforms and OLY bars.

Before I joined CrossFit ATR 7 months ago, I had no experience with group exercise classes or gym equipment. I was new to working out, and my only experience was a few exercise videos I started doing at home a couple times a week. When I first joined the gym, I was very intimidated and self-conscious by all the equipment and people and wasn’t sure the environment was right for me. But I am so glad I stuck with it! In the beginning it was rough as my body adjusted to the movements, routines, and style of workout. It was hard to stay motivated and I was often left wondering if I was making any progress, but the environment at CrossFit ATR is what kept me coming back. The coaches have been unbelievably supportive and prioritize safety and making sure you are doing the movements correctly above all else. They really care about your progress and are willing to answer any questions you have and celebrate milestones with you! The community of people at ATR is amazing as well. Even though I was new, I never received any sort of inclination that I was being judged. Everyone focuses on the work out and what they are doing, but they also cheer each other on and have fun! I can honestly say that my confidence has grown both in the gym and outside the gym. I have started to see muscle definition which I didn’t think was possible and seeing myself get better, and increasing the weight I lift, has changed my mindset about what I am capable of. CrossFit ATR has truly changed my life, and I have the coaches and community to thank for that. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Sadly I had to move away from my old gym as the commute was murdering me, so I had to find a gym that better aligned with my schedule and that still met my standards (which were high – CF Humanity). I had explored different options, but ultimately chose ATR. One year later it’s the right one. Finding a gym is an exploratory process, so definitely check it out.Coaching:All the coaches here are extremely attentive. Unlike other places, these coaches aren’t deep in conversation while coaching. They are Hawkeyes of everyone’s movement patterns. It is because of this attentiveness, that got me out of my back problems. The head coach, Tom helped me relearn my movements, assign accessory work, and really had me dialed intra-workout. Due to that, my numbers have been growing (and wodify has data to show). Shout out to Arturo for constantly breaking down the Oly lifts for continuous improvement, Claudia for always making sure my body positions are correct and not making bad habits! Steph and Sean for always getting me through the workouts while focusing on my own abilities! Kim, getting me healthy on the nutrition side with great recipes. I cant say enough about the coaches, they have really changed my workout life - and best of all, data is there to prove it!Programming:Id say the program structure is like other gyms - Strength section followed by a metcon – with metcon/heros sprinkled in. during the class movements and intents are explained in detail. In true CF fashion, things are variable, and different muscles groups are worked on. One thing I do notice is that is that it feels like we lift heavier- combined with the great coaching and attentiveness Ive been seeing great progress. There is also other classes such as Power lifting, and Oly LiftingLast thing about programming id like to mention are the Warm ups. They are thorough and thoughtful in order to get the muscles that we are training that day to warm up. They arent mini-wods, they are combination of banded movements, Calisthenics, and Mobility, to really prepare you - and honestly I think that has help prevent injuries as well. Also for habitually late people like me, the warm up is on your own at the start of the hour – so it gives me flexibility. The data is in the wodify pudding, the programming works and we have numbers to show for it.Facilities:Its a huge gym, I thought my last gym was big, but this place is even larger, with plenty of evening parking, but can get tough during the day with other businesses near by. There quite a few platforms and racks all with their own set of rings and GHDs. there are plenty of Rowers and Assault bikes. there are also 4 dedicated oly platforms, racks and bars. There have been times where the classes are busy enough that people must pair up, but its not all the time (and its never been a problem). The weights are neatly organized and labeled. Like most CF gyms, It is a warehouse style setting, and its not some designer looking gym, but who really cares.People:Like all great gyms, this place fosters all shapes and sizes. But undoubtedly, everyone is strong, friendly, and helpful. There is great friendly banter between the people that are closer, but i have no doubts youll find new friends and workout partners. There is also a community forum, and Social media presence (thanks India!) that have helped members with different events outside of gym things. For example, they re-posted my cancer fundraiser!Ive thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will continue to do so. What is critical is that I am getting my fitness in, making great improvements without forming bad habits, and working with great people while having fun! If those are your requirements, then do not pass up ATR. 5 stars.
