The mechanics at San Carlos Auto are amazing. Ive been going to them for years now and each time I am met with honest professional care, and quality work. I feel safe knowing my car is in good hands and they know what theyre doing. I recently had some rodent damage under the hood and they took care of everything needed beyond what I couldve expected. They are also incredibly fairly priced and prompt! Highly recommend!

If there was an option for six stars I would give it to them. I was in a really tough spot and it seemed that my only option was to send my car to the scrap yard. Not only did they fix my car within my very tight budget it actually runs better now than it did when I purchased it used. Brian and his amazing team were very kind and helpful completing what I thought was two days of work In one day.

I have been using San Carlos Auto Repair for over 20 years. They have consistently been honest and have given me great service. I had my Jeep at the dealer and was quoted $3k for repairs. Brian got it straightened out for $695. Honest, dependable and fast. I have sent my kids and they have been treated fairly. Im a fan.

Call first to check that they will help you. They would not do a simple mid-exhaust pipe swap or replace springs. Not suspension, springs.I already had the parts and was told they stay away from after market stuff. Huh? So they only use OEM on all their repairs? That sure can get expensive. The thing is, they showcase a mustang on their website and that’s what I have. Lastly, when I called, I was asked to hold a second and could hear a conversation from another potential customer that had just drive up. Her check engine light came on but turned off within seconds of explaining her issue. She was told sorry, can’t help you unless the check engine light is on. Come back if it comes back on. The lady confused replied ok and took off. What happened to good old fashion customer service? (Sorry to hear that, have you noticed anything unusual while driving? Does the car make any unfamiliar sounds or has this been a reoccurring issue?) so easy and goes so far. My first experience here lasted 1 minute on the phone. It was my last experience. Lastly, in my opinion, something is off with the reviews. They all state Trust with no explanation on how or why. Hmm

I always feel like they provide the best quality work at a fair price. No up-selling, just great customer service, great communication and completion. I’ve been going here for years and they are consistently excellent!

This is the auto repair shop you always hope to find but rarely do. Honest, with fair prices, and they never do more than whats needed to fix the issue (i.e. no up selling unnecessary repairs). The quality of their work is impeccable, and they leave your vehicle as clean as when you dropped it off. I was fortunate to have a shop like this in Virginia and thought Id never find another one like it in California, and I am so glad I was wrong about that. San Carlos Auto Service is the only shop I trust my vehicles with, and I think you should, too.

20 Dec 2017: Called Brian about an issue and asked for assistance... he is booked for the day and fit the car in anyway. Took care of the service promptly and I couldnt be more thankful.March 2017: Called to discuss an issue with a repair that was made that never worked correctly on my girlfriends car and after a 5 minute conversation with the owner I was told that they wouldnt do anything to address the situation. It was very disappointing not to hear bring it in and let us look at it. He blatantly said that she had never asked about it in the half dozen visits after the repair which is not true. There are a lot of mechanics out there people. I highly recommend that you find anyone else.UPDATE: Brian, the owner, called me back and apologized for the situation, admitted he was wrong, and offered a full refund for the repair. Its a very stand up thing for the owner to do. Thats a good way to start rebuild a trusting business relationship.I personally thank you Sir for going above and beyond what I had expected to be done.

San Carlos Auto was originally recommended to us by our grandfather...back in the ‘90s. All these years later through a multitude of cars they have delivered exceptional, affordable, and HONEST service.

These people make me look forward to having care issues, not really, but seriously. It is such a pleasant experience and they have the problem fixed so quickly. The best thing about using San Carlos Auto is the personal touch, they have tap up my oil a few times at no charge, and fixed my punched tire at no charge. They are honest and know what they are doing. I dont take my vehicle anywhere else.

Im not a mechanical person but I have several cars, some of them are older cars that require regular maintenance. Each time I go to a shop I need honesty. Ive used Brians shop for ten years on all of my cars and every time he and his staff are polite, quick, and do great work. Two times I took in cars and thought I knew what was wrong, I was ready to write a large check to fix it. Both times Brian found a cheaper fix and out of shear honesty, called me and told me what was wrong and only charged me for the honest fix. I cant say enough good stuff for this shop, he goes above and beyond at his own cost just to be honest, rare but VERY appreciated.

While I was out at sea my wife took our vehicle in for an alignment. If I had known where she was taking it I wouldve stopped her. Two years ago I took it in for an alignment which they did. I got it back and it still pulled to the right. I took it back and they said that tires were too worn and that would cause it to pull and they offered to sell me tires. They couldnt tell me that BEFORE a they aligned the vehicle or apologize and offer to discount the tires? So I took my vehicle to Firestone and bought tires there. Fast forward to last month and they did the same thing to my wife and talked her into replacing hoses to the heater coil on a vehicle that only has 55k miles. She didnt ask for the hoses back so I cant say it wasnt necessary but Ive had several vehicles over 100k, even the same model and have never replaced a hose. Well two weeks later I got back, the vehicle still pulled to the right then one of the new hoses blew off and vehicle overheated leaving my wife and newborn on the side of the road. I had it towed to their garage and talked several times to them on the phone and not one apology for the inconvenience! Even after I went there in person to pick it up! Unbelievable! They acted as if it were expected. And then of course told me my tires were too worn and couldnt guarantee the alignment. Pretty shady place if you ask me.

I brought my 2002 Honda Odyssey on two separate occasions. First time had a screw in tire (slow leak). Priced out a few local shops all charging between 20-25 for a patch. Decided to stop by San Carlos auto, well they knocked it out in less than 5 minutes for FREE!!!!!! Back on the road. Second time was noticing some transmission symptoms (rough shifting), ended up the transmission fluid was very high. Again as I live in El Cajon I priced a few local shops. I explained all I need is a little trans fluid drained to within normal. 1st shop told me they would have to drain all the fluid and replace it all totaling $89.99. 2nd shop told me the same for $119.99. Honda dealer- $130 just to look at it. Well at this point I almost went with that as too much transmission fluid they said could permanently damage my transmission. Well I had finally given up on having just a little fluid removed and decided if I was gonna pay someone might as well be San Carlos auto as they were so nice to me 1st time round. Swung by and asked owner for a quote on the fluid switch. He was very honest with me and after gathering all the info he handed me an estimate. I was shocked to see $0.00 on the paper. I witnessed the mechanic work on my van at least 30-45 minutes draining/adjusting and making sure the levels were PERFECT, he then test drove the van just to be sure. He really went above and beyond. Anyway (I believe Brian is his name) says your car is ready for you. So I head to the counter expecting to pay something (I was more then willing to pay for such honest/great service). I had already pulled out my wallet as he says NO CHARGE we just drained your transmission fluid (2 quarts to be exact). WOW!!!!!! Incredible, nice to see such great customer service and honestly in this day in age. I noticed instant results van drives so much smoother now and they prevented further damage. This is my new car shop for now on, I will be recommending friends and family!!!! They just treat you right was blown away. Thanks again

What I thought would be a $1000 plus fix only cost $150. If I had gone to the dealer I’m sure I would have left with a bill for a $1000 or more and some unecessary improvement. These guys are honest and I appreciate that.

I brought my vehicle here to replace the broken front wheel stud. When replacing wheel stud, mechanic noticed, that the CV boot is torn. I never received a phone call to pick up my car. The employee insisted my number was disconnected and didnt work. I had him call my cell phone right in front of me and it rang. I dont appreciate being lied to. If they cant even dial a number correctly or not at all, I dont want them fixing my car. The prices are expensive too. I went to them as a second opinion and their prices came back much higher. You should shop around.
