I wish I had read the reviews before going. I went there for a cleaning and was told I needed a deep cleaning on 4 sides with laser treatment and antiobiotics. bottom line of the bill $3000 before insurance. they show you photos to make you freak out.I took my time to think and did well. first of all I asked another dentist how much it would cost and they were HALF price. BUT The worst is that my previous dentist from former home and my new dentist both agreed that I only needed a deep cleaning on one side. total final cost $56.they are either very bad in their diagnostic or very good at stealing customers.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helped with sorting out insurance. Dr. Nazareno was very nice and did great work on my teeth. She listened to my concerns and helped me make an informed decision on what care I needed. I highly recommend this office.

I would give 0 star to this dental office if I could. Even though I asked them to double check my insurance coverage for a simple teeth cleaning, they ended up putting $426.00 Oral/Facial Imaging and $88.00 Oral Hygiene Instructions charges into the bill which are not covered by my dental insurance at all. For a simple once-6-months teeth cleaning, they charged $1,036.00 in total with $514.00 out of my pocket.

Other than the office is neat and clean, I have nothing else positive to comment on the practice. They seem to want to over prescribe services.

TLDR: Get second or third opinions from an independent dentist office if your quote or treatment plan ever seems excessive***This review is for an exam I had with Dr. Nazareno last month and is not a review of any cleaning or treatment services. I went to Carmel Valley Dentist Office to get a second opinion after going to La Jolla Village Smiles (note that both offices are owned by Pacific Dental Services). I completed x-rays and then was told by Dr. Nazareno that I needed 3 root canals (tooth #2, 3, and 19), 2 new crowns and 1 replacement crown, and 4 fillings. I had a panic attack in the dentist chair. I can only remember having two panic attacks previously in my life... Anyways I ran outside and eventually had to go back inside and it was humiliating. I was just completely overwhelmed by the news that I would need so many dental procedures and I knew it would be painful, cost thousands and thousands of dollars, and many hours in the dentist chair.I informed my orthodontist about this because Im doing Invisalign and my trays wont fit if I have three new crowns. He strongly advised I get another opinion from one of his colleagues at a dentist office which my insurance sadly does not cover (they only take PPOs). I agreed and this dentist ultimately recommended 0 root canals, 0 new crowns, and 8 fillings (some new, some replacements). He explained root canals and crowns should be the last resort because Im 27 and should not be doing permanent damage to my teeth unless absolutely necessary. Even though my insurance wont cover it, after comparing the two quotes I will save over $3000 by going to the uninsured dentist and doing only fillings.I dont know what motivates Dr. Nazareno or other PDS dentists to possibly overprescribe dental treatments and its not my place to speculate. **I just highly recommend people try to get second and third opinions from independent dental offices whenever possible. **

My husband went in for a regular cleaning here, he was treated well, and he liked the doctor. However,  when they offered other services not fully covered by the insurance we began to question the pricing of the services they were offering. They offered to fill a cavity, amongst other services, and they quoted him over $130 to fill it. We thought it was strange as we had looked at our dental policy beforehand and fillings were covered at a much lower rate. We called our insurance to verify, and they confirmed that the price was too high. Our insurance company even called the office to ask for the billing code they were trying to bill, and verified that the code should only cost me a $47 copay. The benefits coordinator would not agree to charge the correct amount even with my insurance company telling her how much it should cost us. The insurance agent offered to file a complaint against the office for trying to overcharge us. Shame the doctor seemed good but we found a new dentist. LOOK OVER YOUR DENTAL COVERAGE BEFOREHAND.

This place is a joke. I got a cleaning treatment done and the person who did it told me there is a laser treatment that usually costs $800 and with my insurance is only $200. I asked her to specifically make sure that the insurance covers this treatment and she said I checked with the front desk and they said yes it’s covered. After I called the insurances company and they told me this is not covered. I called the office to get some clarification and see why I was lied to and they were absolutely rude. So technically I was lied to to get a treatment done and when I called to see what happened they couldn’t even apologies.

If I could rate this place zero stars I would they’re sketchy and completely unprofessional. They constantly have new employees. They have tried toDOUBLE CHARGE me TWICE for different procedures and the front office is a mess and can’t get simple tasks completed. I Called FIVE different times asking for receipts to be emailed to me and each time I called the lady at the front took my email and then never would send me them. Finally I told her I would wait on the phone until I revived the email. I called Wednesday and spoke with Leticia about sending me my xrays since I will be going back to my old dentist. She responded with “I will try my best”. I know how busy things can get when you work in an administrative roll but the response was completely unprofessional and she had to make everything harder than it needed to be. I waited two days and called just now to follow up with her and she said “there’s a lot of people waiting to get sent those too” and to just keep an eye out for the email. It’s not like this place has a Million patients, learn how to prioritize your tasks and speak to customers with respect. Do not come here they are sketchy and the service is Horrific. How they are even open still is shocking.

This office is further from my house than other locations but will be coming back for the great service!

The dentist, Dr. Nazareno is fantastic. However, the front office is a nightmare. There were mistakes on the original bill (charging the same tooth twice), which I caught and were corrected, then I still ended up being over billed. My dental insurance company told me that I should be getting a refund and every time I called the office, they said the insurance had not processed on their end. I spent over a thousand dollars WITH insurance and it looks like there is no refund in sight.

Having this right next to our home was a huge benefit but every visit raises another problem. You need cavity help but we suggest the $1000 option. You need a crown or cap but thatll be $6000+ and other dentists would do the exact same procedure at half the cost. PLUS you have a warranty but the cap fell off, next visit another $75, another suggestion that something is wrong with my teeth in the back area. Maybe its the new equipment and location to pay for but this place is simply a complete scam, no real expertise, and simply looking to book the next for another check in the mail.Stay Away. The reviews tell the story. And when you see 5 star ratings or reviews from active employees run for the hills.

Almost got scammed here!!! I came for a routine cleaning and the dentist said I had periodontal disease. She put pressure on me to get a root planing and scaling the same day, which wouldve cost $700 out of pocket. I decided to forgo the treatment that day, then the dentist at Carmel Valley Dentist Office lectured me on the consequences of my decision. The cleaning I received afterward was extremely brief (as other reviews have mentioned) and I was not flossed.I had a consultation with another offices periodontist yesterday and he said I did NOT need the root planing and scaling. My gum tissue is relatively healthy and doesnt bleed. I have 3-4mm pockets and some bone loss so I am scheduled for periodontal maintenance, but it turns out the other procedures are unnecessary.Dentists like this one are the reason why patients are wary of being robbed.

Scammers for sure!!! I had just had my cleaning done but changed insurance so went to see them, and had been getting my checkup every 6 months without problems. I go there, first they wanted all new Xrays even though I had ones within a year sent to them. They claimed I needed deep gum cleaning, my wisdom teeth removed, replace my recent crowns which Ive had for 3 years without issues!!!! They wanted to do oral cancer screen which is never necessary unless you are very high risk (and Im not at all). They dont follow association guidelines at all. Dont go there! They wanna steal your money and your insurance companys money.

Uneasy feeling after leaving their office. I scheduled a routine cleaning and was told I could have gum disease and should pay an extra $250+ for a deep cleaning. Then I should see someone that they would recommend. A standard cleaning took literally 2 hours!! The actual cleaning took less than 20 minutes. I felt as if was at a time sharing presentation. At least four people came to the room including the office manager who made me sign a document stating youve been made aware and are refusing the deep cleaning. Never have I felt so bamboozled. I will be going back to my regular dentist. Beware you might need a deep cleaning too.

Office is incredibly gorgeous and staff is very warm and welcoming. I came In knowing what i needed done. I was with a previous dentist whom i loves for years but got new insurance and they didn’t accept it. Came in and was told i needed 4 crowns, 2 of which were in the front and a root canal which would cost me thousands of dollars. I just saw a dentist last week and said i only had a few cavities to be filled. I also Called my previous dentist that i saw In October and said it was outrageous that this dentist even suggested a root canal and crowns and that it was totally unnecessary. I’m giving 3 stars because the staff was incredibly nice. I would get a second opinion if you go here

I moved to San Diego a few months ago and had my first teeth cleaning. The cleaning literally lasted no more than 10 minutes. Dental floss was not even used at the end. I’ve had great teeth cleanings before and it was very noticeable the job was subpar. My dental floss would not even smoothly go between my teeth and I can feel the tartar that builds up on my lower teeth. I’m not saying everybody there cleans the same way but that was my experience.

Beware! I came to this new dental office for a crown and an onlay for my teeth. It was a nice office and staff and the dentist were very nice, but I feel ripped off at this point. I was told that I need to pay $1650 out of pocket for a crown (no root canal) and an onlay, which I agreed to pay. Later, the insurance (delta) sent me a statement, which indicated I owe $1005 not $1650!!! I talked to office staff about this. Later I was told that the $600 difference is because my crown was same day and is made of a particular material! But there was 3 problems with that explanation: first, my crown was not delivered the same day but 3 weeks later, so it was not same day!!! Second, for my next visit there was a problem with crowns color, which I had to wait another couple of weeks for the crown to be ready, so by any means, it was not a same day crown as they claimed! Third, I never asked for a same day delivery crown. They talked about all the procedures and had me sign all the docs but no one talked to me about other options such as having a regular non-same-day crown!!!! I was never told Im being charged more because this cerac crown same day BS.

Dont make the mistake of coming here. Yes the office is new, its pretty etc. But if you have a problem with your teeth, Dr Fariba and staff are not equipped to handle it. My wife had a chipped tooth last week. The staff told her it was fine to wait 5 days to see the doctor. When she finally did, Dr Fariba informed her that she needed a root canal and crowns and then proceeded to tell her she could wait 3 weeks for their traveling endodontist to show up and fix her tooth. My wife, a medical professional, didnt feel comfortable with this so went to a different endodontist the next day for the consultation.Dr Fariba herself CALLED my wife 3 times (no joke) to literally scold her for going to a different doctor (who miraculously got her in within 24 hours) and tell her what a grave mistake she was making. Fariba was intimidating, unprofessional and above all, proceeded to tell my wife that she herself had a root canal at this other endodontist and they messed it up and that they only want your money, etc. How can someone say something this unprofessional is beyond me!Well, as it turns out, my wife saw the endodontist (who was amazing, I was there) told her there was NO WAY a root canal was necessary, the tooth was totally saveable and THAT DAY got her a crown with another general dentist in the area. What a saga with such a happy ending.Above all, Dr Fariba was EXTREMELY unprofessional on how she handled this situation. Beware of her recommendations (esp for more invasive work) and DO NOT WAIT for their specialist to show up 2-3 weeks later. Do yourself a favor and find an experienced general dentist who can get you in quickly and take care of your needs without having to wait and without the emotional turmoil Dr Fariba created with her harassing phone calls.
