Would not recommend this place. When I made the appointment they took a health and medical history and already started to try and push treatments that I would need before even coming in. They never mentioned anything about cost even though they had my insurance info. So I was already reluctant and wary to keep my appointment but decided to give it a go. When I got to my appointment they said that I would need to pay a huge amount out of pocket. I told them I wasnt informed that and they said well nothing can be done about that because I was already there. At that point I decided to leave since I hadnt been seen by anyone yet. I mentioned on my way out that this wasnt good practice for patients and they said oh well. Im just glad I left before being seen and wracking up any charges.

I’m really disappointed and feel taken advantage of by Serenity. After a phone consultation where they went over my treatment history and insurance in detail, they assured me they could get treatment covered by my insurance. I made an appointment to be seen and to get started on treatment. One in person consultation and $200 later, having given them absolutely no new information, they said they would not even try putting it through my insurance, as they knew it did not meet requirements for coverage. I was told if I truly needed the treatment I would find a way to cover the $10,000-$15,000 cost out of pocket. I left feeling completely defeated and unheard. I called a few days later to try talk with someone about my experience at their clinic. I left a message with a woman who said someone would call back ASAP. No call ever came.

I would NEVER refer anyone to this company. The only reason I gave them one star is so I could post this review. We had a serious issue with one of the Drs there. I filed a complaint with the CEO of the company and never got any type of response. My husband was pressured into doing Ketamine treatments and it made things worse and there was no support given. Those are not covered by insurance so it seemed to me like they just wanted the money. They do not care about the well being of people. If you are in the mental health business you should do everything in your power to help your patients. If you are looking for help in time of crisis this is not the company for you.

If I could give a zero I would. My adult daughter whom I care for has been to the best facilities in the nation. I was hopeful Serenity would be a great resource here in SLC. Their process is stressful and anxiety induced. When you call you get a call center located in a different state. When I asked to speak with one of the assistants in Holladay I was told they didn’t know of that person. And they would not forward me to the Holladay office at all. Anytime I called it was the same answer. The call center pressured me to tell them what I wanted. For confidentiality reasons I refused. And than they said they couldn’t help me. Serenity is a machine that doesn’t not run on common sense and they create more stress for the already mentally ill patient! Fortunately I found another physician. DONT SPEND YOUR TIME BATTLING SERENITY! It’s not worth the immense stress.

I have been trying to call them for over a week to ask a question and no one picks up the phone? I also submitted a form on their website twice and no one responded?UPDATE: Serenity called me back based on posting this review. They said they would call back to answer my questions but never did.I called the number again and used the leave your number and well call you back feature and they did call me back.I finally found out they do not take my insurance (PEHP).

I made an appointment for Dr. Pendleton with the Serenity office staff over the phone. The soonest I could get in was three weeks out, which was somewhat expected. I gave them my insurance information and contact info. I put the appointment in my calendar while still on the phone. I scheduled time off from work during the busiest time of year for my line of work. On my way there I called to ask a question, and was on hold for my entire 30 minute drive. I was still on hold when I walked in the office doors. After arriving I was told there was no record of my appointment or any of my information. They acknowledged that someone in their company had made a mistake, I was there from 4:35 to 5:15 trying to figure out what could be done. In the end, I was told the best they could do was reschedule me several weeks out. I am upset and demoralized. It was very important that I see a doctor today. No one there wanted to take accountability for the mistake that had been made. My schedule today was completely affected by this. I wish I had spent three weeks waiting to get in somewhere else where the staff is more capable and willing to correct errors when they are made within their company. I also wish I had waited three weeks to see a doctor who would have recognized that this was unacceptable, and attempted to make it right by trying to accommodate my schedule in some way (any way). If I have to wait several more weeks -again- to see Dr. Pendleton, I might as well wait to get into a more trustworthy, organized psyche office. That was quite stressful and unpleasant.

Im going to preface with the fact that I dont often write reviews, but I have a very real concern for those who might be seeking real help, and need real help, and are instead financially ravaged and horribly taken advantage of by Serenity Mental Health. Im afraid that this company is praying on people with real mental health issues such as major depressive depressive disorder. Serenity Mental Health took two different opportunities to rush me into an appointment before seeing if my insurance would cover it. I had to cancel two different appointments because they kept rushing me into it before giving me info about insurance. After cancelling and rescheduling multiple times over the course of two months, I finally put my foot down and sent a very direct (and also very polite) email in regards to my insurance and finances, at which point they finally called me TWO DAYS before my appointment to tell me that my insurance wouldnt cover any part of my treatment. My guess is that they hoped that I would just come in and do the treatments out of desperation and deal with the financial consequences later. There arent professionals working here and no one seems to know whats going on how anything actually works. Im not upset with the fact that my insurance doesnt cover their facility (it turns out the UofU covers the whole thing through and through so Ill be going there instead), but rather, Im upset with the lack of follow through with me or my concerns with insurance. I called and emailed on so many numerous occasions and was either put on hold for 20-30 minutes before they just dropped my call OR being totally ghosted when I emailed them. I dont think the people working here have had any previous experience working in either the medical field OR the mental health field. My guess is this is a cash grab taking advantage of the poor mental health of the world right now. The psychiatrist was just a normal psychiatrist, which is a pretty low bar to hit, they all ask exact same questionnaire when deciding which drug to put you on. Anyways, this place will be a total waste of your time and money if you have depression or anxiety or need actual help. Moreso, you may be getting yourself into a whole world of real trouble if you let them fling you into financial hardship with no real treatment for your mental health. IF youre just feeling kind of blue AND have a huge amount of money to kind of just throw around, I bet you would really benefit from a fun little supervised ketamine trip, but even then, youre really paying a lot for a whole lot of nothing. Beware if you need real help, this place is not for you.

I really appreciated my experience at Serenity Mental Health. The staff are all very warm and interpersonally experienced. Dr. Pentleton was amazing at listening. I came in to increase life quality and I feel like it happened! I know this location is relatively new right now, but its well run and is connected with the other Serenity centers.

My disappointment is completely with Serenity, NOT with the psychiatrist with whom I have worked. In the midst of skyrocketing numbers of COVID-19 cases, Serenity would not allow me to make a telehealth appointment because of billing issues. (Being a mental health provider myself, I believe this to be due to not being reimbursed at the higher rate for an in-office visit.) They stated that if I wanted to have telehealth appointments, I would need to find a new provider. Unbelievable. I have see this provider in other clinics for the past 10 years. I will NOT go back to Serenity.

Hope you don’t have to get your prescriptions refilled. They apparently are on vacation 24-7. Not to mention let’s say you were having a mental health crisis you would NOT be able to actually get ahold of a nurse . All through a call center. Seems very unprofessional, impersonal. Chop shop at this place.
