The staff here are super sweet and very caring. I appreciated working with all of them. There were just a couple things we ran into that, I feel, could have been just a little bit better. I arrived at the hospital, on Wednesday, at 10:45 am and surgery was set for 12:00 pm. It got delayed to 1:00 pm, due to unforeseen circumstances with the previous patients surgery. That is understandable, so we waited an extra hour. The Drs. then they came in and told us there was a mixup with the rooms and they actually scheduled us to another OR, where that procedure was just getting started. So surgery was delayed yet another hour. I was in a lot of pain during this time and my husband hadnt eaten, yet, because we kept thinking I was going back soon. They did give me 1000 mgs Tylenol, an IV, and four warm blankets to help me out, though. I think the hospital rooms could use a little aesthetic updating, as well. The fitted sheet was a little dingy, faded, and thin with a stretched-out elastic. The TV would also flicker between a brighter and darker screen, sometimes. The bed was comfortable, though, and the OR was very nice. The TVs with calming scenery and music were a very nice touch for what can be a very intimidating place. The staff were also very kind and efficient. They did a great job.

I am in LDS hospital right now recovering from a full hysterectomy, and I am blown away by how amazing everyone is. The room service food is delicious, they have kept my totally pain free, Im allowed two visitors and they can spend the night. Im transgender and all of the employees use the correct pronouns for me. The atmosphere is happy and attentive, if I ever need another procedure done Ill make sure its done here! Doctor Brackmann did my surgery and my scar will be small and even. She remembered my fiances name when she visited too, truly an A+ doctor with incredible bedside manner. Thank you so much everyone

This place was filled with judgmental and rude people who really did not want to be helpful. I was disturbed by the pain patients were in that I was able to listen to in the ER while endlessly waiting to be seen. Because by all means, as god is gracious and I know he is I hope you end up in the same place you intended for your patients with the same harm you caused to me and every patient who came your way.

I gave birth here 9 years ago and it was an amazing experience. I had to go in again today for a minor procedure, and it was also an amazing experience. I’m saddened by the negative reviews and wish everyone felt the same way I do. Everyone today (and 9 years ago) were kind, caring, and competent. Their top priority was making sure my questions were answered and that I was comfortable. Great hospital. Thanks!

The actual visit was fine but the billing process was the worst I have ever experienced. At the time of the visit I paid $800 with the belief that $300 of that would cover the copay. Months later I got a bill for $300. The bill did not show my payment. I tried to call the billing center and gave them my reciept number. They said that the number was not long enough and did not have a record of my payment. After several calls to the billing company I was told to go to the hospital and speak with them. I drove up there and gave them my reciept and showed them the bill. The employee spoke with a manager and said that I did not owe the money and that she added my payment to the account. A month later I get another bill for $300. Im am beyond frustrated that I cannot get an explanation of what happened to my payment or what it went towards.

I dont understand why they couldnt of told us that before I left him there, we could of went & found a new place ourselves. 7 hours later & he is still waiting to be transferred. So ridiculous!

Fairly great experience while having surgery performed by my orthopedic surgeon. The only exception would be the reception/registration staff in the pre-op patient check in/registration area. The girl their was very unfriendly, cold attitude and seemed coincidence and unhappy to answer anything or clarify things. Wouldnt let me finish talking while trying to ask how to complete a couple different steps in the registration process, she just cut me off and interrupted without even knowing what the issue was for clarifying anything.Otherwise I had a very good experience and the pre-op and post-op medical staff were all amazing, very professional, warm and kind. However the receptionists at the patient check in desk could really use an attitude adjustment and a more patient-friendly personality. Granted it was 6:00 a.m. when I had to come in for my surgery, but that is no excuse to act like that towards patients who are coming in to have surgery and are anxious and nervous as it is.

I have personally been a patient at the LDS Hospital, my wife also was a patient there as she gave birth to our first and second child. Great to have a hospital so nearby, we were living on Center St. at the time. It has been a huge resource to the Salt Lake area for decades. Tens of thousands of SL residents have been born in that hospital over the decades. Its a hospital for humans, operated by humans who sometimes are less than we expect; however they are great at what they do because they for the most-part love what they do, and they care!

Terrible all around, I had a surgery and the only good thing was my dr and the anesthesiologist who I’m not considering part of this review. From before my surgery to minutes before I went home the nurses didn’t seem to care about me other than a check list. Multiple nurses not just 1. Also the lady they requested to check on my unborn baby knew nothing about my babies or even the levels we wanted for the babies heart rate. She said the number and said looks great. I asked the number again and said if that’s the number we aren’t doing the surgery cause my baby is already not doing good. The nurse in the room said she thought the number was very different from her counting so to try again. The nurse NOT THE LADY DOING THE ULTRASOUND redid the test and ended up with a number that meant my baby was stronger than the original number said and we proceeded. Hopefully this nurse was not also just doing a checklist. I HATED everything I experienced surrounding this procedure and hope and pray I never have to return to this hospital EVER! I will go out of my way to avoid!

As soon as they found out the person I was with and helping wasn’t Mormon, nurses and staff started making snarky comments about us. During “treatment” they refused to treat or help in any way. Even after demanding to transfer to a different hospital they dragged their feet and made it to where I had get the patient myself and drive them to a different hospital to receive treatment. I feel disgusted after a recent experience involving consent or a lack thereof. I showed up at the hospital for surgery in a leg brace, when I woke up from surgery, I had a different brace on. I was never given any information about the brace before or after surgery, I never consented to have a new brace, and I was far from a rational state of mind after surgery to even initiate the discussion which regardless should not be a responsibility on my end. I then got home and removed the brace because it was not my size and could not be adjusted smaller, it only fit slightly initially because it was put on over my thick surgical bandages. Wearing it provides zero stability and so I never did again. After receiving a bill for it, I called the hospital about returning it since I couldnt use it and never consented to having it in the first place. They said to call billing, so I did that and explained the situation. I was told I would be contacted in 7-10 days. That never happened. I called back two weeks later to see what was going on and was told the charges are correct because I took the brace home. Intermountain informs patients to not drive home and to have a ride pick them up after surgery because they are not in their right state of mind, so how can they also conclude that going home in the medical device you woke up in is a version of implied consent? I did not consent, nor could I have. Period. I was never even given the option to not take the brace and believe me if they had discussed this with me, I would not have. So now Im facing hundreds of dollars extra on my bill for a device I cant use and am told nothing can be done about it. The prices are also inflated several hundred percent. Just another example of that is the screws in my leg, each one costs $180 but I am charged over $650 per screw. Guess Im screwed right? I hate to have this experience leave such a bitter taste in my mouth for an institution I once regarded to be of high integrity. If you have any option, you can do better for your healthcare elsewhere.

I was involved in my own treatment plans and follow up instructions were clear. I appreciated all of the kind nurses and staff who work in the behavioral unit. BEWARE OF BILLING. Just got a bill today for services that were done 13 months ago. When I called them to find out what it was, I was told, we give everyone a 25% no insurance discount and then bill your insurance company. When they pay it, we add the 25% back on to the bill and collect it from you because you have insurance. So plan on an extra 25% bill to you personally AFTER the insurance company pays their portion that you are responsible for. Straight forward billing would sure be nice.Heres an idea, how about IHC bill the full amount to the insurance company and if they dont pay it, THEN you give a 25% no insurance discount to the patient. This is the case with ALL IHC billing. And we all wonder why health insurance costs so much.

About 10 minutes later they told me I had kidney stones, wrote me some prescriptions, handed me some paperwork, and I was discharged. With instructions that Im not allowed to drive. The time was about 3:30am.So, I walked outside and sat in the dark drugged on moraphine. Struggling to stay awake. I didnt know what to do it was a weekday, and there was no Uber cars out at this time. I finally went inside and asked if they knew a taxi or how I could get back to my hotel. They didnt know how to contact a taxi. I walked back outside, and waited until I could get an Uber. Still struggling to stay awake. It wasnt until the next day I realized how crazy it was that they recklessly discarded a young women who was by herself, drugged, and not familiar with the area. Pros: some of the staff were friendlyCons: pretty much every aspect of administration. My wife had surgery here. They call us 2 days before to tell us how much the hospital portion would be (despite us trying to find out sooner). Day of the surgery its 35% higher than on the phone (I guess the rates got raised in those 2 days). You have to pay for everything upfront, then they bill your insurance and refund you the part that insurance covers (never had anywhere do that to us). So youre giving the hospital a nice loan. Some of the staff had no idea what they were doing. Our doctor came out after the surgery to tell me everything was great and that it would be an hour before I could see my wife. I went out to our car to take a work call and was back in the waiting room 45 minutes later. I asked the receptionist if my wife had already been transferred to the recovery room and I was told she hadnt.I waited another 20 minutes before I was called into the recovery room, where my wife had been for 45 minutes. Her nurses told her to call me, she had no phone having just been in surgery, so she asked her nurses to call me, but didnt (they had my number and had called me immediately following the surgery to make sure I had been able to speak with the doctor). This on top of not finding out what time your surgery is until the evening before. My wifes was at 9:30 am and they didnt tell us until 3pm the day before.I dont know if the hospital is understaffed or if their administrative staff is just extremely incompetent, but you will not get any meaningful or accurate information about your surgery from them. This is the 3rd surgery weve gone through in 4 years and I still cant believe how little information we were given and how even upon getting information, it was wrong.Coupled with paying the entirety in cash upfront, despite having insurance (and having called your insurance to make sure its covered), Ive never seen such a poorly run hospital.

Not single doctor who works at the Layton clinic delivers at the Layton hospital, and not a single doctor who delivers at the Layton hospital works in any clinic in Layton.Because its not organized around patient care, its all about PROFIT. When they put me into the post-surgery recovery room, they didn’t notice the bleeding after two hours when the blanket under my body was full of blood. The team started to stop the bleeding by putting pressure in the area. After 8 hours, the bleeding finally stopped. The next day, they thought I was fine and released in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I passed out at the hospital main entrance due to anemia and other unknown reasons. They pulled me back into the room and rescued me until I woke up. This caused me to stay in the hospital for another two days due to anemia and swollen of my whole leg. Worse care I received there, Doctor seemed in a rush and really didnt listened, received medication for the pain, I let the nurse know when he asked if it was working in told him no it didnt do anything for the pain. Long story short no one knows what was wrong with me and sent me home with a prescription with the same medication that didnt work. Thanks LDS Emergency room for nothing

Last week, I found myself needing to go to the Emergency Room and chose LDS Hospital. I had gone to an affiliated hospital the week before for the same problem and wouldnt return there if it was the only place left to go!My experience at LDS was night & day from the (affiliated) hospital. I was given extremely kind and professional care from the moment I walked in. The tech showed me to a room very quickly and within minutes, there were Nurses and techs attending to my immediate needs. The atmosphere there was so comforting and I felt like I was in competent hands and that they were going to do everything they could to resolve my issue. The Doctor was very professional but also very personable and I was so impressed with the seamless way my situation was addressed by several people. My Doctor even contacted another specialist who took the time to come & visit my room to set up a treatment plan. The Specialist followed the process through after I was released and Ive now had the procedure completed that I needed to move forward.I highly recommend this facility. The staff is amazing - friendly, attentive and competent and the facility is very clean and comfortable. I am very satisfied and hopefully I wont have to return to a hospital, but if I do, Im quite sure it will be LDS.

There was a surgical nurse named Carrie (I think, I asked her probably ten times, poor woman) who was amazing. I told her I needed to be discharged on time to be home when my kids got off school and she got on the phone and started calling everyone who needed to do something before I was disharged and made it happen. Great staff overall. The surgery was a little later than it was scheduled, but that’s just how hospitals seems to operate. Pun intended.

Its a great hospital. The only downsides I noticed was that the parking lot is across the street from the hospital and that they dont allow kids under 13 when youre getting a ultrasound. But its easy to find this place and the staff members are friendly.

SO very disappointed with the service I received from their ER. I went in for a VERY sensitive issue I’ve been dealing with. I had to step out of my room several times to use the bathroom while I was waiting to hear back from my doctor. While I was in the bathroom, the doctor came back into the room and told the results of my test to the person I brought with me. Freaking HIPAA means nothing to them. I have never been so disappointed in my life. I did not sign a release form for them to share that with anyone besides me.AVOID THIS PLACE!

If youre an addict whose made the decision to get clean and need a safe environment to detox and withdrawal, nothing will make you feel more sure and validated about it than talking to the women who answered my call. I have never in my life been more uncomfortable simply asking a question, she was so incredibly rude, as if my call was the biggest inconvenience of her day. Absolutely no kindness or life in her voice at all. This phone call was my first impression of not only your detox program but your hospital as a whole, and I am beyond unimpressed. Making the decision to get clean is not an easy one, in fact its pretty damn scary. I cant help but wonder if the rest of the staff, (especially the care takers) are as warm, compassionate and in love with their jobs as much as she so obviously is. The last thing I need in this experience is feeling worse about myself than i already do by the people who are suppose to help me. Its unfortunate because I love Intermountain, but this 2 min phone call has most definitely given me a very bad taste in my mouth. Im sorry but you cant act like that if you work in healthcare, it doesnt matter what your position is, in general theres nothing morehurtful and discouraging to a patient than someone who doesnt care.It only takes ONE bad experience.I actually had every intention to schedule an appointment with that phone call but I just couldnt bring myself to inconvenience her more than I already had. If this is an acceptable way for your employees to answer the phone and speak to potential patients than i cannot imagine what the caretakers get away with. Very scary.

My dad was rushed to the hospital and everyone on the staff in Emergency staff was very personable and kept me informed of what was happening. Our nurse was awesome. But when I was released I came in with my belongings like my globe skate boarding shoes and my purse. Well they managed to give me my Identification card and social security card which was in my purse. needless to say i left the hospital bare footed and without my purse very unprofessional.

What a highly disappointing experience within our medical professional of such a profound name. You think sending your family to a hospital carrying the name of LDS would be more humble and willing to help in crisis. My sister came to this facility desperate and extremely sick and the. (Un)professional manner she was treated and the feeling she was shunned due to an illness she had the courage to seek medical assistance to save her life will leave a memory etched within a entire community of addicts still suffering. Yes it is unfortunate that an illness so cunning and baffling has brought her to her knees. So powerful that only god himself can deliver her to sanity. If you are powerlessover your addiction do not depend on a hospitalnamed after the religion you thought you could trust. They treated her as if she was infectious and self inflicted illness was not accepted even if her insurance was.

I recently visited the ER at this hospital. I am a retired Registered Nurse, so I tend to scrutinize more than the average patient. I was treated kindly and the staff were professional and had shown competency. The care was very good and expedient, even though it was on a busy Friday evening. I was in and out in a lot less time than I imagined. I was impressed and would go back again.

Whoever reads this at LDS, PLEASE pass it on to someone who actually cares and can implement changes in procedure/personnel.While we have gone to the E.R. MANY times with our chronically ill son (hes now 38), our visit last night was VERY frustrating to say the least but could have been made much easier with just a little better communication. We arrived at about 6:45pm. Checked in, and as usual, within minutes were taken to a treatment room. They hooked him up to the monitors, IV, did a chest xray and an ekg. Shortly after, the doctor came in and asked questions in order to determine the proper treatment. Then they came in and drew blood for the usual tests. (as an aside, I do notice when we go to our regular doctor she is actually on the computer typing in notes and ordering RX and any procedures. With as busy as the E.R. is, I would be surprised if the Doctors actually remember everything that is said to them by a patient. Im sure they go back to a computer by the nurses station in order to update the file and order meds/procedures but may get interrupted along the way)After that is when my patience was truly tested. I am known for being a very easy-going and likeable person. But this whole experience did more than test my patience and I became a NOT very likeable person! We waited for almost an hour as we were expecting the nurse to come in with pain and nausea medication. I finally had to go out and find the nurse who said she would check on it. After another uncomfortably long wait she came in with the medications. This is where it got REALLY frustrating and I became even more of a not very likeable person!During that 3 HOURS of waiting, all it would have taken to calm me down and my sick son would be someone just even sticking their head in for a minute to let us know what was going on with the test results and when we could expect to see the doctor again. During that time I walked out in the hall three times and asked 3 different nurses to let the Dr know that his pain level had not improved, his heart rate was way high, and his o2 saturation was low. All 3 said they would check on it but nothing happened. FINALLY the Doctor came in to update us. I think it was about midnight by then. He discussed the test results and said they would do one additional blood draw and he would order some stronger pain medication. After about 45 minutes (now after 1am) I walked down to the nurses station AGAIN and found the nurse who was to administer the pain medication. My son was SO upset and on edge, that they gave him Ativan to calm him down so the pain meds could work. And that did work.Im not sure if such a position exists, but I would call the person a Patient Advocate/Ambassador. Someone who checks in regularly with patients in the treatment rooms and maybe even the lobby, and just communicates with them in an effort to keep them informed and keep them calm. And then communicates patient concerns to the appropriate person.I think this would GREATLY improve the overall patient experience in the Emergency Room.I get it. The E.R. gets SLAMMED and there arent enough nurses and docs to handle everyone in as timely a manner as you would like. But it would literally take 1 minute or less to just assure the patients and the friends/family members with them about whats going on and what to expect. As I previously mentioned, IHC is an AMAZING organization with GREAT people and I choose to stay with them every year when I have to renew my group medical through my employer. I could pick other lower priced plans through other hospital groups or a Blue Cross plan, but I stay with IHC as they have always handled all of our medical needs.HUGS!

Alright, so, I come to this hospital often for my job. I found one of your registration ladies yelling at another one of them. One of them, I work with constantly and she’s always been wonderful and on top of things. The other is brand new (the one yelling) I would normally just let that go but she was yelling in front of security, EMS, patients, etc. It was very unprofessional and the way she went about her confrontation was horrid. I’m unsure of her name but wow, what a piece of work. I don’t want this to reflect your hospital as a whole but, it really does.

The time it takes to repsond to patients is atrocious and the care is questionable at best. My mother recently had a procedure that required a 3 night stay. They are so understaffed that they changed floors after the 1st night. They failed to set up her phone charger and the hospital line in her room rang for a solid 5 minutes. I gave up and had them transfer me to the nurse desk: She had heard it ringing and done nothing. That same night a piece of equipment was going off in her room for 30 minutes, disturbing her rest and Recovery, she pressed every single button she had for the nurses station but they didnt respond. She had to call me, and I had to call them from home in order to get someone to turn off the piece of equipment. She is completely dependent on their care to reach, move, or do anything as it was a major hip operation. I am not impressed. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. I would give it zero stars but thats not an option**the staff tonight has given me more hope, but my overall impression remains at disapproval.

If you want help from the patient liaisons, you might want to get that from somewhere else. April yelled at my wife for missing a therapy appointment we were never told about and then hung up on her, then ignored her and my own calls from there on. We got no appointments set up by them at all. That doesnt really seem like a way to help someone who is mentally ill. Mercedes seemed great but she was never in when we called. But avoid April like the plague!

I had surgery on my abdomen. Just to note a couple things: 1. Anesthesiologist never even warned me he was about to cover my face and did it so sloppy I panicked. 2. My night nurse and aid (first night - 8 hours after surgery) were so difficult to get to my room. I couldnt walk without assistance and was a fall risk. I called the nurses station 6 times over 45 minutes and told them over and over I needed to use the restroom. It took 45 minutes at 2am for anyone to come help me. I was screaming from my bed. Yelling please help...nothing! 3. Same night aid had to help me get up to use the restroom and while I was in there she left. Just walked out of my room and shut the door. I waited 10 minutes in the bathroom hoping not to fall when I finally had to call someone to help me back to bed. 4. The day after surgery the nurses wanted to remove all my staples. The DAY after. I finally got in touch with the surgeon who said No way, they stay in 10 to 14 days. Dont let anyone near you to remove them. There was one night nurse who was amazing....Lorraine. if you are on the 6th floor Id be very careful of anyone else.

Less than 1 star for this hospital.!!! The experience today was horrible, my niece was sick and in a lot of pain and Dr. Gilbert, Eric H., just cared about her status in the US, such a rasist. Nurses were very mean. She needed water and they took about 30 minutes to bring it after we told like 3 different people. Hey do we really have to remind them if we are in the ER is not because we want make new friends? its because we need HELP. Now come on!!!😫😡😠and of course I will take the survey.

Ill start on a good note. The nurse and tech were great. But the doctor however was condescending, had terrible bedside manner, and was downright rude. Even under the most stressful of shifts, doctors are held to a standard for professional conduct. I may not work in the industry, but I know enough to know when things arent right. Best believe Ill be filing a grievance against said doctor with IHC administration in the morning. Six hours in the emergency room is ridiculous. Flu season, it may be, but there is ZERO excuse for this.
