After seeing some of the reviews, we were very nervous about our appointment. Dr. Vanderhooft was great with our family. Yes she is straight forward, but to me, it was reassuring that she knew what she was talking about. She addressed any questions that we had, and let us know of the solution to the issue our son was having. She was very friendly with our child, as well as with us. She was direct, to the point, and we did not have to wait long for our appointment. I had a very positive experience with her.

I was recommended to see Dr. Vanderhooft by my child’s pediatrician because of a small mole my baby was born with. I agree with other reviewers who stated that their visit was super quick with the doctor. Mine was as well, but only because she knew exactly what kind of mole my newborn was born with, diagnosed him quickly, and gave me the info I needed to know. I could tell she was very knowledgeable and I’m so glad she is! I appreciated the fact that she runs her clinic on time. I didn’t wait but a few minutes to see her and I was glad to get in and out. I’m planning on making an appointment with her for my teenage daughter for her acne. Dr. Vanderhooft is terrific and efficient.

Waited 3 hours.... I’ll say it again: 3 hours with my one year old and the advice I got after all of that was terrible. My appointment was at 1:20 I got home at 6:30 pm ... all for nothing. When I called for directions they gave me directions to the wrong office - no worries they said we will still get you in. My baby was starving, I ran out diapers, I was frantically trying to get someone to pick up my daughter from school. I Was charged a late fee from my older daughters school and had to make my husband leave work early to get her. It was so terrible. I wouldn’t have waited that long but I had waited weeks for this appointment and was hopeful that it would help. The doctor told me everything I already knew. She suggested that I shouldn’t use baby wipes on my daughter and just use “a wet towel” later a quick google search revealed that there are wipes called “water wipes” available at all regular retailers that you can use but apparently my doctor had never heard of that. Such a waist of time and money.

My son has a rare skin disorder that cannot be completely cured. We have been seeing this dr for a couple years. Dr. Vanderhoofts knowledge is extensive and she answers every questions honestly. She tells it how it is and that is exactly a doctor should be! And is exactly what my family needs. On top of that, she is kind, gentle, and understanding to my son, understanding and patient with our concerns.

I’m not sure why this doctor has the negative reviews but she was amazing!!! I have been to three other doctors about my daughter’s hemangiomas and Dr. Vanderhooft started treatment immediately. She was calm about everything and seemed to really know her stuff so it put me at ease. The rest of her staff also went above and beyond to help me. I was late due to a traffic accident yet they got me right in and the MA did more than needed and helped me schedule my daughter’s follow-up so I could focus on my baby.

Its been a while since our appointment, but the visit still sticks out to me, because of how we were treated. My newborn son had a large mole when he was born and we were told by our PCP to get it checked out by Dr. Vanderhooft. At the time we didnt know any better so we made the appointment. When we finally got to see Dr. Vanderhooft she was extremely rushed and not helpful. She made us feel like idiots wasting her time (which we were, but like I said we didnt know better). As young parents a little reassurance goes a long way. Wont be going back.

Waited over a month for our appointment and when we were finally seen she was in the room maybe 5 minutes. She gave me no answers and barely look at my childs rash. I was very disappointed and it was a BIG WAST OF MONEY AND TIME!

Dont trust her with you kids!! Her methods of treatment are aggressive and dangerous. Not to mention her terrible bedside manor and disregard for the patient or family.

I dont know if its because I have different things I look for in a doctor or not but this woman and her staff are phenomenal . My son was seen by 2 different dermatologist that gave us two opinions on opposite sides of the spectrum with no answer in sight . We had no idea what this mark/rash was so my primary care physician recommended going to see Dr. Vanderhooft . We had to make our appointment over a month out, which sucked because we wanted answers but thats usually a good sign for doctors. We made sure we left a time window to get there, find parking and extra time if an accident had occured while we were on the road . The front desk staff was great, and the nurse was really warm and nice even so early in the morning . She got us in the room and went over everything nurses usually do, then we were asked questions by a young man who I cant remember how he helps the doctor, then they both went and got the doctor. The second she walked through the door she greeted us kindly, took a look at my sons problem and immediately knew what it was, yes that fast. We told her about our other encounters and aside from one she didnt think that doctor had been entirely wrong just wasnt quite right but didnt discredit the prior doctors like some do. She and her staff then talked about what was to be given, she put notes in the computer and listened to our questions and was out the door. The whole visit was maybe 5-10 minutes long. We got told to use over-the-counter lotions until he would be older to get surgery to remove it because it hasnt finished growing, and we got papers on preventing skin cancer. If you look at reviews on her, here and other sites. It makes her seem like a cold, uncaring, know it all doctor who just flies from patient to patient . Im not saying theyre wrong, But for us it was indeed a fast visit, because she has been doing it for so long and is just a confident doctor. I would say just go in for yourself and see what you make of her and the staff .

Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with Dr. Vanderhooft. She had a student diagnose my son then she saw him for about 5 minutes for which I was charged $250. During those 5 minutes, she was very rushed. She quickly diagnosed him with eczema and then assured me that nothing but steroids would allow him to get any better. I have since found that to be untrue and have actually never used steroids on him and his eczema is all gone. She seemed willing to answer questions only if I could keep them coming - the minute I couldnt think of another question she rushed out the door. She offered no information or explanation of what was going on or her guess as to why he had eczema. Very unhelpful - save your money and just do a google search or just chat with your pediatrician!

I’m sad that there are so many negative reviews on here. I was just googling Dr. Vanderhooft’s contact information to pass along to my sister who is needing a pediatric dermatologist for her daughter & I saw all of the reviews.First, skin disorders and conditions are challenging and unfortunately a lot of them don’t disappear quite as quickly and magically as perhaps an ear infection with a 10 day course of antibiotics does. Many conditions, like eczema, are lifelong and although you may not walk out of the office with a cure, Dr. Venderhooft is a wealth of knowledge & to me that is as important as a prescription.Dr. Vanderhooft lasered a ‘birth mark’ off of my daughter’s chin several years ago. She addressed all of my concerns about pain management, the details of the procedure, the after care needed & was very clear about the possibility that one treatment may not be enough. Part of a parent or caregiver’s job is to go to the appointment with a list of questions and concerns & be as prepared for the appointment as you expect the doctor or provider to be. The procedure far exceeded my expectations. Be assured that Dr. Vanderhooft does care about your child. I have to agree that unfortunately a lot of people just use online forums to vent rather than provide objectivity. I would recommend Dr. Vanderhooft without hesitation!

After waiting 5 weeks to be seen by Dr. Vanderhooft I was extremely disappointed. I noticed my 7 year old sons problem had resolved its self by the time our appointment arrived but kept it because my newborn was having horrible eczema. I asked the front desk if they could add my newborn the to schedule inplace of my other boy since his problem had resolved its self. They were more then happy to make the change. When Dr. Vanderhooft came into the room I took 15 seconds to explain my sons resolved problem and asked her to look at my newborn and she very rudely replied you will need to make an appointment for me to look at him. I could not believe she she spent less then a minute with me and said I would need to come back. I only wish I would have said to her I will make another appointment for my newborn but not with you! She is not worth the wait.

I was very disappointed by my experience with this office. I had made an appointment with Dr. Vanderhooft and waited over a month for my child to be seen. When we showed up for the appointment the secretary scheduled me for the wrong time, and so it looked like we were 3 hours late even though I had my confirmation mailer with the time I had written down. There was no apology, and they basically just told me I needed to wait another two months to get in with the doctor. I will not be returning to this doctor.
