Great experience with Dr Shrout for our 9 year old! She had a double fracture in her arm/wrist which he helped straighten out and set. He was so kind and gentle with her and explained everything to us so we could understand what was happening.

I had visited Dr.Shrout in august for wrist pain. the doctor diagnosed it based on my pain and suggested i get a steroid injection to reduce the pain. i asked the doctor if there were alternate treatments available like physiotherapy instead of the steroid injection. the doctor repeatedly pushed for injection and said there was no other treatment. i didnt want the steroid injection due to previous eye condition which was caused by steroids. After the injection, the doctor also recommended a brace. i asked if i could buy it on amazon but he kept pushing me to take the brace from their office. he said it would be covered by insurance. During the entire visit the doctor was very rude and barely answered any questions accurately. i asked if there were any ways to reduce such injuries etc but he didnt answer those questions. After the injection and brace was given i left the doctor office. when i got home and researched the diagnosis, it revealed that Advil and physiotherapy would have helped relieve the pain and symptoms. the steroid injection was the last resort. the doctor did not advice any of these options to me.After 3 weeks i got the bill from insurance saying i owe $300. the doctor purposefully pushed for the injection and the brace as he could bill me $80 for just administering the injection and $180 for the brace. i have never heard a place where the doctor would bill for just administering an injection. the $180 brace can be purchased on amazon for $10 but was sold for $180 to a gullible patient like me. the brace was of such poor quality that it gave a serious rash on the wrist.Dr.Shrout should be ashamed of himself for such fraudulent practices. he didnt care to provide the best treatment but cared more about billing insurance and making money. i would recommend patients stay away from him. He is a terrible doctor.
