Ive been going here for a few years and Mari is outstanding, while Mimi and the owner (I forget her name, unfortunately) are also very good. And Im sure they have others as well. IMO, hands down the best place for mens haircuts in town--cant speak to how they do with womens hair obviously, but they seem to have quite a lot of female clientele as well. I went just the other day and they have safe quarantine measures in place, very professional, very clean.And yet, I believe, what truly sets this place apart, is their desire to make you feel like youre part of their family. Just trust me; in these trying times of isolation, agitation, aggression, and so forth, you will be feeling better about yourself and your day after leaving this place. Not sure entirely what it was this last time, but perhaps its just nice to have some semblance of normalcy and to talk with friendly people who care about how you are doing.So, I highly recommend you ditch the quarantine-cuts and give this place a shot.Oh and they also have this guy named Eddie who is like Renos most interesting dude, so be sure to give him a shout when youre there--youll know who he is.

BJs is a consistently good hair shop near/in downtown area. Locally owned, which for me is a major+. Get a beer or drink while you wait.Many stylists on hand everyday, I do recommend Mimi she does a solid consistent cut for me each time.After a cut and wash, they include styling products for you to style to your own taste. You can leave feeling fully polished the look you desire. Side note: I enjoy using products I otherwise wouldnt consider just to see what it will do with my own hair.Ill be a regular here because of the positive vibe they create.

Not from the Reno area, and decided to come here because it had good reviews. I told the woman who did my haircut that I needed about 3/4 of an inch m cut off and to do 90 degrees all the way around. I even showed her pictures so she would get the right idea. She immediately started going to town on the back of my head with clippers, which is not what I asked for. I figured she knew what she was doing, so I let it slide. At the end of the haircut, something just didnt feel right. I get home and notice that I have a bald spot on the back of my head, not only did she cut way more than 3/4 of an inch off, she cut it so short with the clippers that a bald spot was created. Im pretty upset that nobody told me, because it was obviously noticeable. I dont like giving bad reviews, but they clearly messed up on this one. If youre going to go there, make sure you are super specific. If something seems wrong, speak up. I wish I did!

Was in town for the Reno salsa congress and needed a haircut.The hard part is that they are really busy. I could not find a spot Friday afternoon. They said come in perhaps we can fit you in. I got there and they said no, theres no way we can fit you in. However, they treated me with a beer while waiting (yes free :); never had this at a hair salon). Got an appointment for next morning and got a nice haircut.Nice job!

The set up is great. But the most of the girls have no idea what theyre doing. Ive been here twice and both times they listened to what I asked for and then did what they wanted to do anyway. Thats a no no for me. One of them even shampooed my hair 30 seconds after I said I didnt want it shampooed , just washed, as she stared out the window. But again, they are very friendly and the setup is very nice.

Belen has so much experience. She chopped off all of my locks (two years worth) and gave me a great style. It was not exactly what I was looking for so after a quick discussion, she knew exactly what I was looking for and made it perfect. She also gave me an explanation on what product I need and why and provided me with a recommendation. I will be a returning customer.

I must say this was a great place! They offered drinks while I was waiting for my turn (I was a walk-in) and provided very friendly service. I got a great haircut and a shampoo and was able to use any gel/cream/spray I wanted from their display and everything cost me $30. If youre a guy in need of a last minute cut before an event or hitting the slopes this is by far one of thee best. Highly recommend....although Im speaking for only a mans haircut, I did see a lady getting a haircut too and im sure the experience would be the same as mine.

Lady did not listen to how i actually wanted it cut. I wanted to keep a good amount of my length, but she took it upon herself to make it way shorter than I wanted, so now it looks like an awkward bowl cut. The only thing she did right was the feathering. Kept trying to convince me to go even shorter when I explicitly said no the fist time she asked. 0/10 not worth the $25. should have aunt cut it.

Sadly, this shop is trending the wrong way. Been a customer since 2006 but the quality of cut has decreased badly in the last year, yet prices have increased. Too much turnover is bringing down the quality of this shop. Enjoyed it while it lasted but time to move on.

Love this place. Though there seems to be a stigma that only men get their hair cut here, the ladies working there are amazing at cutting all hair. I would suggest always making an appointment because they tend to get busy with college students. really nice place with a pool table and lots of seating for the wait.

Best affordable mens barbershop in Reno. The staff here is friendly and efficient. They offer other service, including for womens hair styling, but I cant comment on that front. They have trouble get appointments started on time, unfortunately, so keep that in mind if youre on a time crunch.

We were in Reno for a convention and my husband needed a hair cut for his military convention. They fit him in right away, gave him a free beer while he waited and he walked out with a stellar and reasonably priced haircut. We were grateful! Thank you!

Theres free drinks available for your convenience, the stylists are by all accounts great. They even wash your hair when youre done! It makes for a pleasurable experience.

Ive been going to BJs for a few year to get my hair done and my moms eyebrows done and everytime they have done the job beautifully without a single flaw there attitudes really reflect them as people because its very easy to tell everyone in that shop has a heart of gold and nothing less.

BJS may be a great salon but please this is not a barbershop. Only barbers can use a straight razor and have a barber pole, or call themselves a barbershop without getting a $ fine for false advertising so please dont get them in trouble using the word barbershop in reviews.Thanks from all the barbers in Nevada

Although appointments are preferred I walked in and was seen in ten minutes. Good cut and a cool place. Saved this as a favorite.

When I first started going, they were very friendly and attentive. The hair cut quality has always been solid. Not the worst, not the best. Lately, it has become very subpar. Theyre always running late and dont give you a professional nor attentive experience. All the employees always seem to be in a rush. It aint my business that you were at the DMV. Therefore why customer care is poor. Its time to find a new place. $18 for a haircut is a lot and this lady was rushing, didnt take her time, and kept constantly hurting me. Being professional and attentive goes a long way. They are also NOT Pack-Friendly Business.

I had made the mistake of going to chain salon to save a few bucks, and I came to BJs to try to salvage it after seeing the ratings. YES! Although it is still short (obviously) the damage is repaired AND she made notes for next time. I am so happy with this place.

So my son, CJ, needed a hair cut. Looked around online and decided on BJs Barber Shop. Arrived without an appointment, and it was about 2 minutes before we were seen. If I was to say any negative, it would be that when I initially described the desired haircut, they admited to not being the type to cut by a description of inches. At least they were honest. So they asked me for a picture, and luckily I had one on my phone. After showing it to them, they immediately went to work, and the cut came out PERFECT! Nancy did a great job, and I will definitely be taking my son back there again for our future business.
