If you plan to pay down additional principal on your student loan every month I would think twice. CFNC has consistently MIS-applied my extra loan payments for the past TEN years -- even though the account was noted. I must call them every year and get them to re-apply the extra payments to principal. This is sheer incompetency. If youre trying to pay down your loan early, dont expect them to get it right. And better follow up EVERY year to make sure they applied it to the CORRECT loan -- and didnt record it as a pre-payment instead.

I recently had the opportunity to work with a CFI agent by the name of Jeannette. It was an awesome experience. Some how I managed to sign up for the wrong assistance to help pay for my daughters education. I was very concerned it would not be something that could be corrected. She took the time and looked into it for me and explained what was going on and what would need to be done once the original assistance had been cancelled. Furthermore, she called the next day to check on me and give me an update about what was going on. I was very nervous about this and she sensed that and has just been very reassuring. Once everything has been completed I will be more than happy to give all stars for this experience!!

I just the most pleasant experience with the young lady who answered the phone to assist with my student loans. I called in and spoke with a wonderful representative by the name of Angela Hicks. Normally when I call, Im nervous about who I will get on the other end of the phone. Most representatives act like they dont care about your situation or they act like you owe them money. Well Ms Hicks actually made my experience the best it has ever been. She just seemed like she cared and was so willing to explore every avenue for me. She advised me of every route I could take for my situation and just made me feel very comfortable about the situation. If every representative I encountered was like her, this world would be a better place. But in all seriousness, she really showed great professionalism and set a great example for what customer service entails.

I had several issues with my sons NC Residency online application and had to do two separate re-submissions. The most inefficient and ineffective organization I have ever come across. Ive lived continuously in North Carolina for almost 10 years and they have deemed me a non resident twice even though Ive worked in this state for 8 years, have a car registered here, a valid NC drivers license, a registered LLC in my name, and multiple W2 forms. Im also registered to vote in Wake County. Their goal is to make North Carolina residents pay out of state tuition.

The most shoddily run company with which I have ever dealt. For a company that works with such large sums of money, you would expect there to be some kind of efficiency. However, I have seen lemonade stands with better business practices. If you send in paperwork, expect to get it back or for them to lose it. If you tell them you sent in a form for income-based repayment or a forbearance, expect them to go ahead and penalize you even though they promised that wouldnt happen. If you want to talk to someone who can help, Id suggest calling a phone sex line instead....

The only reason I am giving five stars is because Linda and Charles are absolutely amazing at their job and deserve so much recognition. For instance, today I called about an issue only to be told by David that there was only one person that could help me and I would have to rely on him to pass my name and number to this person who he wasnt sure of. Not feeling secure about his answer I followed up only to find that no note was even placed in my file that I called and spoke about this issue to David. Linda took her time, fixed it and even called me back to help me further. Charles then handled the situation when I called back and also fixed some things with my account in January. They both have great customer service and make it feel like an individual rather than an account. I appreciate them both!!! Thanks Linda and Charles!!!

Today Miss Daquante Copeland helped me. I was getting frustrated filling out my residency and she was very sweet and helpful to me. She told me what to do and gave me suggestions, and I am so glad I got help from her. She was the best and I recommend speaking to her !

I spoke with Joy Lewis who was very patient and knowledgeable. She passed on some very valuable information to me. She was also very kind which doesn’t always happen. My questions where answered in a very clear and detailed manner.

Be very careful when using this service. My experience is it is much easier to get your money in than to get it out. In addition, they will change the address on your account at random, over and over again. In my case they kept trying to change the address on the account to an old apartment that my daughter once used. I called repeatedly to ask them to change it back to my home address and then a month later they would change it again. Each time they change the address they put another hold on the account, preventing you from getting a check cut for college expenses. When I tried to close the account and have a final check sent, they sent it to the wrong address. My repeated calls to try and recover my funds resulted in the customer service person hanging up on me, transferring me to a supervisor that never answered the phone and then the phone system hung up on me as well. Also, be warned that if you call and you dont know your full 9 digit zip code (this will be hard after they randomly change the address on your account), you wont get through to speak to a human. This is one of the poorest customer service experiences I have ever been put through. Getting my money out of this system was nothing short of a nightmare. I would advise you never use them.

I was fortunate to have Ms. Copelands help with withdrawal issues on two different occasions. Her technical knowledge, focused assistance, and never-ending patience helped this grandmother whisk through online forms and data input that previously had overwhelmed me. Thank you DaQuanta!

Tracey was very patient helping me understand the needed steps to get my loan in good standing, took multiple calls at my convenience. My issue is with CFI itself, they are extremely confusing with loan repayment options and fail to provide a clear dollar amount of what will be due with the different repayment programs. They will not provide you with a suggestion of what repayment would best suit your financial situation, only hypothetical guesstimates of what the payment could be. Frustrating

My last call with CFI was very helpful. Jeannette Borne was incredible and helped me find ways to pay down my loans faster even while I’m unemployed. She gave me good options and helped me find a doable plan.

Ms/Mrs Lopez is the best of the best. She went above and beyond if you ask me to ensure my experience with CFI was a good one. Her customer service and willingness to help was excellent and more than anyone could ask for. I’m now back on track and looking forward to paying off my loans. The level of her accountability to me to get to this place, only makes me want to hold up my end so that she would know it wasn’t done in vain. Ms Lopez thank you and if I’m that one in a million then so be it.
