This office is amazing. I’ve been seeing Dr Henry VanPala for one year. He’s helped me lose 20 pounds so far and I’m working on my last 15! He’s helped me get control of my eating and I’ve been exercising 5 days a week from the last 19 weeks! I’m more confident and so thankful to have found him. Thanks doc!

Worst front desk staff ever. I have a family member and a friend that both went here. They say Jessica Allyn is awesome, but their business is going to fail because of the front desk staff. So rude, mean, disrespectful, lazy and argumentative. I’ve decided I’m worth more than to have anyone make me feel this way, especially a Doctors office.

I travel 4 hours to see Dr. Van Pala.I trust and value his advice and have been recommending him for years.Dr. Van Pala is knowledgeable, compassionate, and has helped me so much.Before starting the bioidentical pellets 4 yrs ago I suffered from migraine headaches, hot flashes, mood swings, dryness, low libido, and other female age related inconveniences...My husband has also reaped the benefits of these regular treatments.All I can say is that these trips and these visits have been one of our best investments.

I just called to make an appointment. Usually a practice is aware what insurance they are in network with. This practice wanted me to contact my insurance and do there job. And right before the call was disconnect, I was told once I confirm if they are in or out of network, to call at 3pm when they are not busy. Really!!!Reading the review for Dr. Van Pala, I will miss out on a good doctor due to the front desk staff. Hope my last name had nothing to do with the hoops you want me to go through.

Best medical practice in Raleigh! The staff really seems like a family. They are like a professional ball team...Everyone has a position, purpose and mission. The front desk staff is friendly and they are always smiling. The nurses communicate and are engaged with the doctor and patients. It is clear to me that the staff reflects the doctors! If anyone is looking for a family practice or a gastroenterologist, this is the place! Awesome practice. I have been in the tech industry for +10 years and I rarely do surveys. If take the time out of my busy day to do a survey it is because i am impressed. Who gets impressed by a medical practice? That’s how good they treat the patients!

Dr VanPala (the son) was extremely professional and asked me questions about my life and what truly brought me to this point. You could tell he truly cared for his patients and I was far more than a number. He even came up with a treatment plan and told me all the facts and cut right through the bullsh*t. If you want a doctor that doesn’t care and will blow smoke up your a$$ then look elsewhere. Highly recommend!

I am a new patient at this doctors office. Matthew Van Pala is amazing. Top notch care to say the least. He was polite, friendly, knowledgeable and he has a dynamite personality. Awesome medical practice. Great service and caring staff! When was the last time a Dr spent 15-20 mins chatting and getting to know you? Most physicians are in and out within a few minutes. I have had two visits so far and received top notch care each time! Thank You!I assume the 2 or 3 negative reviews are unhappy people. We have all met that person that complains about everything and never has anything positive to say.

Great guy. Very friendly and funny. He apologized for running a bit late to my appointment as he wanted to completely finish up with the prior patient before starting with me. He didnt leave the room during my visit to deal with something else. He spoke candidly and I greatly appreciated that. Loves to talk about football since he played in college.

A very caring and thorough doctor. He has built a strong network of medical specialist referrals for extensive care for his patient needs.The practise is growing steadily from word of mouth. This is definitely a practise where you will be well cared for.

Dr. Van Pala is Awesome!! His son is too!! They take good care of me! I many issues concerning my health and they take the time to help me very much!! Dr. Van Pala is the rare example of how medicine should be practiced. If you want a doc that comes in for 2 min and doesn’t listen to you then Dr. V isn’t for you.He takes his time, listens and provides a solution to whatever your in for. I first saw Dr. Van Pala and he did not help me at all. I had blood work done and he told me completely false information about my blood work that my hormone levels were completely off, but when Sally looked at the same blood work results she said my levels were normal. So I stopped seeing him. I then moved on to Sally. Sally helped me a lot and I finally got my thyroid medicine right where I wanted it to be, HOWEVER, Sally has horrible bed side manner. I would leave her office in tears after every appointment because I was badgered about my weight. I also had A LOT of issues having my prescriptions refilled and this was because of Van Palas wife. I would constantly go to the pharmacist thinking my prescriptions were ready and most of the time they hadn’t even been sent to the pharmacist yet. My prescription would be completely out and I couldn’t refill until it was sent in. I will never recommend this practice to anyone.

Dr Van Pala is an excellent doctor. He took the time to sincerely listen to my issues and made a commitment to help get my health in a better place. After seeing him and following his directions I feel better now than I have felt in years.

I love everyone at this office. They are friendly and they really care about you as a person first and then as a patient. I would recommend to anyone who is tired of being a number and crammed into that one size fits all patient category. Dr. Pala and staff are more interested in getting you well than doping you up unnecessarily. 5 Stars + 5 more in my book!!!!

Dr. Van Pala has been great for me and my wife. He has successfully helped me deal with several health issues and i know i can trust his judgement and advice. We recently moved but will continue to use his office as long as we are able to. Id recommend him 100% and have referred numerous close friends and colleagues to him.

My husband and I have been under Dr. VanPalas care for over 5 years now for hormone therapy. We drive over 3 hrs to see him. Henry and his wife are some of the finest people I ever met. If you are looking for a doctor that specializes in sickness prevention and WellCare look no further.

Dr. Van Pala has a brilliant mind, an emphatic ear and the most capable skill set one can find in a doctor. He is genuinely interested in the restoration of good health in his patients and the wellness of the whole person for whom he provides care. Dr. VP is incredibly smart and capable. He started his career as a pharmacist, became a GI specialist, and now is a primary care provider. I have struggled with Crohns for years and have seen two other specialists. Dr. VP was the only one to get the Crohns in check and I life a healthy and normal life now. Big thanks to Henry and his nurse that have been so helpful and effective.

Dr van pala is a magnificent doctor. It is hard to find doctors that truly care and pay attention to your needs. Went there for a first visit and loved him!! He addressed every issue that i had and prescribed me the right medication for my needs. I have not found a doctor as good as him in a while. New to nc and glad i found him!!

Dr. Van Pala has been my primary care doctor for over 4 years. Ive been incredibly impressed with the personal attention and care he has towards improving my overall health. Dr. Van Pala takes the time unlike most doctors to listen and develop a genuine rapport with his patients. During my care with Dr. Van Pala Ive been able to loose over 30lbs and come off all medication except for a thyroid pill. I feel younger and have more energy than ever! I credit this to his guidance and medical expertise and holistic health care. I will continue to recommend his care and medical services to all my friends and family. I cannot speak to the doctor himself as I did not get that far, but the nurse (his wife), is enough to keep me away. Very poor customer service and professionalism. I recently called the office with a request for the doctor. Deb, the nurse, was unable to help with this request and as she grew more frustrated with her shortcoming referred to me as an uneducated woman. Would absolutely never give my business to people like this.

I had great expectations after reading the reviews but was disappointed. Hopelessly disorganized/ inefficient. Appointment times were not respected and I found Dr VP quite patronizing. HRT pellet therapy - which I am not interested in - was his only recommendation for my presenting problem.

I wont go back to this doctor no more because dr.van pala prescribed me medicine and when I took it I went to the hospital and he also ask me if I want other medicine like diet medicine birth control medicine and I end up in the hospital for one day and say I had a interaction when I call him and say will I be ok and he said its okay for me to take the medicine. But the doctor in the hospital say I cant take it. I wont go back no more and it a bad experience and he is not a good doctor for anyone to go to. When I go there they charge me extra and after that I went to the hospital more than two times. I will never come back again. They take my money and made me sick.

Im sorry, I cant recommend this doctor to our community. Dr. Van Pala put me through several antibiotic treatments ending up in the surgery room. He destroyed my health and my professional career, I ended up with thousands on medical bills and my health ruined forever. Unforgivable.The patronising​ attitude mentioned before its true. The push for HRT its true as well and overcoding the insurance.

Dr. Van Pala was a pleasure to see and very knowledgeable. He shows genuine interest in your overall wellbeing and develops a relationship with you as a patient.

I am so very impressed with this doctor and the practice. Dr. Van Pala actually spends the time to talk to each patient and run the necessary tests to find out the root cause. MOST doctors wont run the tests that Dr. Van Pala runs because they are bound by coding / insurance restrictions. He also doesnt just prescribe medicine as a band-aid. He listens to his patients and works with them on their healthcare management. Dr. Van Pala has been a God send to my family!

The office staff was over bearing suggesting treatments and diagnosis during my health history intake. They discussed their personal health history and their childrens with me which was out of context. They clung to bits of information that were not relevant to the issues I came to their office to discuss. Insinuated that my symptoms couldnt be accurate based on my age. Symptoms Id been living with for 3 weeks. The doctor was hostile with me when i complained that the nurse (his wife) was asking me the same questions i had answered over the phone and again in print because it was easier for her if i verbally answered her instead of having to look at the paperwork. In the end i was directed to take a spoonful of Metamucil before dinner and that would likely solve my issues.I prefer discussing my symptoms with someone open to hearing them without judgement.

I have been a patient of Dr. Van Pala for several months. Rating this practice on a scale of 1-10, I would rate the office 3 or even a 2. Dr. Van Pala is a kind, empathetic, humble, with a great bedside manner and caring. His nurse can be described as a babbling idiot. She is a detriment rather than an asset to this medical practice. If you are looking for lectures from her, no follow up calls this is not the office you want to be going to. I have asked for data/test results to faxed to my health insurance carrier several times and then am told it has been faxed. Later, after contacting the health carrier, they state they have received nothing from this office. This occurs nine out of ten times. The problem I believe stems from the nurse who fails to send the information and then informs Dr. Van Pala, her husband, that it was faxed. My belief is that she keeps him in the dark. Needless to say efficacy of this medical provider is poor.Calling the office one day, I spoke with the nurse asking her to send data/test results to a company that manufacturers a particular medication. She informed me that it would be sent and she would call me the following day. The next day arrives and passes, no call. I wait a week for a response...nothing. I called and spoke to her again about the matter and she quickly informed me that she was very busy and that they were taking care of very sick people. In other words, my needs were not important or/and insignificant. The son also works in the office. I mailed step by step instruction and with the necessary paperwork to be submitted to them which needed to be in turn sent to the insurance. The son called and stated he did not have all the data needed to fax the paperwork I filled out. I told him that they indeed had it as Dr. Van Pala had read the results for three different blood tests. He curtly told me NO that they did not have it. I told him that supposedly his mother (office nurse) had faxed it previously to a manufacturer. He put me on hold and found the info. After a couple of days I check with the insurance they received nothing. So either he was calling me a liar or his dad, Dr. Van Pala. Recently my pharmacy sent a fax, along with my Rx insurance requesting information. Nothing was done to respond to the two faxes. It wasnt until I wrote to Dr. Van Pala was any action taken.The receptionist is pleasant enough, but is never able to answer questions, she passes you onto someone else.If you simply need medication refills that can be called in then there is no problem, however, anything beyond this nothing gets done.
