Started with Louis, the sale Rep. very respectful and explained. The installation was very professional and Dustin Holloman and Billy and the rest of the crew did a fantastic job. They are nice and professional and will give you their honest opinion.

We bought this house last year and this year we had the kitchen redone. In the process the electrician noticed that the dryer vent wasnt connected. I looked up who installed the roof and found that Covenant did it in 2017. I called them and found them very welling to help. A tech came out, found the wrong vent had been installed and came back and installed the correct one.

Worked with Chris as a rep and Alexis and both were great and responsive.Im giving two stars as I feel I was a bit deceived by the lack of mention of the energy credits resetting on June 1st. The sales pitch was you have banked energy credits with Duke for the hot summer months, but Im still getting $75 energy bills. Its a state law, so not necessarily Covenants fault it exists, but there was definitely no mention of it.

We recently had Sun Dollar install a fairly large system on our home. From start to finish it was painless and I am 100% satisfied with everything. Dan the owner is a professional and has fantastic customer service. The crews that did the job were polite, prompt, and worked hard to minimize the impact on my schedule. My neighbor ended up choosing Sun Dollar after seeing my install and hearing nothing but positive compliments from me.

We were approached by Sun Dollar Energy LLC (company which may have turned into Covenant Solar Tech or a partner- I still didnt get information about this). All that was advertised by the rep sounded amazing. Our family decided to jump on the opportunity in December 2020. From that point, I sensed and have been feeling a disconnect between the sales rep and what he originally advertised.Panel installation was delayed.Duke Rebate is not guaranteed and a tedious process. We went to 2 phases of being added to the waitlist.Emails are not answered in a timely fashion.Lastly, we referred 1 particular individual. They got their referral money and here we are several months later waiting on our referral money. I have contacted Alexis on several occasions about this and there has not been any follow up.The original rep who sold us the system has stopped responding. Thats been a point of frustration. Alexis has not responded either.Im still patient but these interactions have left me unimpressed. Hoping future customers do not have to deal with this frustration.

The previous owners of our house had solar panels installed by Sun Dollar Energy. The panels have worked great the past few years and continue to provide enough energy to the grid to nearly zero out our electricity bill most months. Dan and his team have been professional, responsive, and courteous in all aspects of the services theyve provided us, from helping with the initial interconnect request to providing service checks when necessary. Theyve also been fair and reasonable in pricing.

We chose Sun Dollar after getting three quotes and speaking with 3 salesmen. Aside from being a couple thousand dollars cheaper, what impressed me was the salesman was the owner, Dan Lezama. This wouldnt be a case of a salesman promising one thing and then an anonymous crew delivering another. The other two guys seemed to know their stuff, but theres nothing like dealing with the owner to guarantee performance. I knew the buck would stop with Dan. After doing some due diligence, I knew Sun Dollar would do the job for us. Solar is no small undertaking. There are permits, interconnect agreements, insurance requirements, etc. Dan made it simple. He handled all of the paperwork and scheduled all of the inspections. Dans crew was awesome. They were on time, clean and efficient. More often than not, Dan was onsite supervising everything. When we ran into surprises (no neutral wire in attic sub-panel?!), Dan explained the options and we made an appropriate decision. 39 panels later, were now a power producer. We did not opt for an off-grid system (another ~$20K) but may look at that in the future. Teslas Powerwall 2.0 is interesting, but too new to seriously consider unless there are new incentives or Mr. Musk is looking for evaluation sites. Were expecting the system to pay for itself in roughly 10 years, but from what Ive read, it should have already added roughly the cost of the system to the value of the home. Would highly recommend Sun Dollar and would definitely use them again.

Dan asked me to give a review, here goes. Just a word about me, I have been an advocate for Green Energy since the early 70s. I wrote papers on it in high school and college. I have worked construction for more than 40 years. We went with Sun Dollar because we wanted a family environment not a business thing. Turns out that was a huge plus. We started running into little hiccups right away, mostly my fault. Dan contacted me immediately and calmed me down and thats how the process went. Towards the end of the project it was a running joke between Billy and I, wont want it to be easy now. The crew. I think at one point or the other I met all the installers, everyone was a pleasure to work with. I would have been glad to have any of them work for me over the years. Crew leader Billy was a blessing, had the answers to all my questions and his attention to detail was great. He could run a crew for me anytime. Two of them graduated from APP State with degrees in Sustainable Energy so it was fun to see them get there hands dirty. Im sure that Greg is tickled to death to have this job done and me off his back. Always enjoyed talking with Alexis, thanks for all the updates. From start to finish the ATTENTION TO DETAIL was amazing. We are currently producing at least 75% of all the power we are using and with the battery backup system we know we can weather any storm. Dan, Micha and the team did a great turnkey job at a very competitive price!We are informed consumers and know what we want. We shopped several well-known installers and based on price point, materials, knowledge and availability Sun Dollar Energy convinced us they were the best of all vendors we surveyed. They did not let us down!First off, there is a lot of information to digest when wanting to go solar, it’s like drinking from a fire hose! However, after a consult with Micha to help us see what our options were (and a lot of follow up questions!) we felt a lot better about what we were getting into. The guys helped us understand common solar myths and things like “off grid”, “grid tied”, “net metering” etc. When we were done we had a good feel as to exactly how much we would spend and the time we will need to recover our costs.Once we signed the contract they worked with our somewhat challenging HOA. We were the 1st to request a solar roof so there was a lot of help needed to set precedent and get approval to move forward, but after wading through the HOA bureaucracy (during the Christmas holiday, too!) we were set to start.Their team quickly installed a 11.4 KWh system in less than a week that really looks great, they even replaced a faulty breaker for our air conditioner at no additional cost (Thanks Dan!). I decided to put solar panels on my home earlier this year. I did a lot of research and shopped around with different installers. I was very close to giving my business to another company, but Micha really sold me on why Sun Dollar was a step above the rest. Sun Dollar Energy installed my solar summer 2019. They walked me through cost and layout of panels; the job was completed quickly and well; and the panels are functioning marvelously.They also came out to my house when I thought I had squirrels on my roof without charge, and when I later bought a squirrel guard (which I highly recommend) the employee offered to cut a few branches off a tree that was near the roof.More importantly, they have been fantastic with customer service, answering both texts and emails without delay and making sure all my questions were answered. We worked with Sun Dollar last Fall to get our roof top solar panels installed. It was a great experience from start to finish and we are thrilled with the outcome. I got 4 different estimates on the solar installation I was interested in. I had done a lot of research before having anyone come in as this was a pretty complicated venture for me. I have never, never seen that from any contractor before. VERY impressed.I got all of that and the best price to boot. I can see doing a lot more business with Dan in the future on other solar projects. He feels more like a partner the a contractor.

There was no hidden cost, and the original estimate was exactly what I paid. They passed inspection and when they saw something on our roof that needed attention they fixed it as a courtesy. I have not gone a month to discover the reduction in my electric bill yet, but I watched the meter reverse within 5 minutes of being turned on. That was a big thrill to know we are contributing energy to the grid and doing something good for our earth.

Sun Dollar Energy was great. After we signed our contract we ended up doing some other construction around the house, and they were very patient while we completed that scope to avoid any potential safety hazards. Once that scope was completed they jumped into action. They took care of the rebate paperwork, and the panel array looks fantastic. Sun Dollar is a fantastic local company. I worked closely with Greg Resch, who guided me though the process of installing a solar panel system on the roof of my residence in Carrboro. Greg knows his stuff, and I was impressed by the competence of the entire team. The install process was quick - 2 days - and my wife and I feel that the installation is performing really well. Greg helped us to handle technical issues that arose after the install, related to WiFi monitoring. Sun Dollar is a company that continues to work with you after installation. Greg and Dan also helped us to deal with the Duke Energy rebate situation, where Dukes website/server was overloaded on the application day. Thanks to Sun Dollars persistence, I will be receiving the rebate. I love this company - they are local, hardworking, and smart.

I would recommend Sun Dollar Energy to anyone who wants to go solar. They charge reasonable price and give professional services from start to end. They finished my solar system in 2 month (in the first month, we just waited for my HOA for the architecture approval). Ive received the confirmation from Duke-energy that my solar rebate will be sent out in 4 weeks. These guys are so great and very helpful. If they can put a tutorial online to help the customer understand and read the new net metering, it would be more helpful. But anyway, their installation is great.

From the quote to the install, all my interactions with Dan, Micha, Sam and the rest of the team at Sun Dollar Energy were excellent. Going in, I knew that solar technology is a fairly mature technology these days, but it was a bit of a revelation the extent to which installing it, is by necessity, an effort in customization for each site. I got a number of widely varying bids and Sun Dollar really came up with a great balance of system size, state of the art equipment, and great pricing. And, they followed through with a quality install. There were a couple small quirks to my install, given my older house, including not being able to route the power cables in the usual manner, but they came up with a smart and good looking solution. My experience with sun dollar energy has been phenomenal. From the sales rep Micha to the owner himself Dan, everyone has been easy to deal with even with the back and forth of my decision to get the panels. The guys who installed my panels looked young but they really knew their stuff and did a very neat job on my house. I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out and I will be calling them back when we get ready to build our next home.

Had Dan and the crew install 32 panels on my roof. Took about a week and everything looks great. They have been very responsive and informative. Thats not to mention the absolutely fabulous price that they gave us on our system. Extremely impressed with the work they have done and the follow-up has been great with any of our questions.

This company provides end to end service to provide a turn key service. Micha came out to our house and was very helpful in helpingus decide what kind of system we would need, including design and cost. The price was very competitive and the job was completed at the promised price. Their technicians were efficient and customer focused, and did a great job installing the system and explaining how it operates. Most important, they provided excellent support in getting homeowners association approval, and took care of all of the bureaucratic aspects of getting this system, including obtaining the appropriate permits, and the paperwork related to interconnecting the system to the Duke Energy power grid and Solar Edge monitoring portal. Dan and his team also had the system installed at the promised time and were well prepared for the final building inspection of the system and components. If it were possible I would give them more than 5 stars for their rating.

I am extremely pleased with Dan, Nolan and the rest of his crew. They spent quite a bit of time upfront with me before even committing to the installation, making sure I understood all of the technology, answering numerous questions and even helping with the HOA justification. They are not pushy at all, and are focused on helping guide you towards what you need/want and what will work best for you situation.Once the work actually started, all the guys were very prompt and paid great attention to detail throughout the entire process. Aesthetics are important, especially since these are attached to the outside of your house. Because they also believe this, they had to spend a bit of time to work around some of the vents and other obstacles on my roof, while still making the individual panels look like part of a larger array, which I think was well worth the effort. They had no problems making minor changes along the way at my request, and once everything was finished, delivered a great packet of info with everything I might need, and followed up later to make sure everything was working correctly.Overall, they made a reasonably complex process very simple for me as the homeowner, and did excellent work in the process. Highly recommended.

I am one that refuses to give the highest review for any service as I feel everyone including myself are always a work in progress, none the less Sun Dollar did a tremendous job. Dan and the guys came out and within two weeks everything was installed and up and running. We can now be pretty self-sufficent if we have a power loss for a bit of time.

Recently when looking for solar for my home, I worked with Micah through the initial sales process. Great guy, great company, and you cant beat their prices! Unfortunately, they werent a SunPower dealer when I was looking, so I went with another company.

Like many of the folks who have written reviews here, we checked out a few other solar companies first. No one else came even close to matching Dans level of expertise and the depth of his knowledge.Most of the other companies just sent out a salesman who had no technical knowledge whatsoever. Dan came out himself and designed a great grid-tied, battery-backup system for our house.We flipped the switch on December 31st and have had 6 months of trouble-free solar. We lost grid power twice due to thunderstorms and our batteries kicked in seamlessly.Update, October 2018While going green is a big factor in my decision making, the commitment to go solar occurred when my husband and I returned home from a Caribbean vacation one February to 20 degree temperatures and two days without power. The diesel generator had never been properly broken in because it was unbearably loud and incredibly smelly. We had no heat and had to move the dogs and ourselves to a friend’s house. I decided we should look into solar power with battery back up.After meeting with several companies, we selected Sun Dollar Energy because of Dan’s involvement with all aspects of the project, his experience and incredible depth of knowledge. Our ground-mounted system has been working great since our install in 2015.Until Hurricane Michael, however, we never got to test how it would do during a lengthy power outage. Each time we lost power, Duke Energy would get it back in 12 hours or so. This time, we were without power for 2 days – an excellent opportunity to see if we could make it off grid!The system worked perfectly! We hadn’t realized the grid was down (our house seamless transitions to the battery back up) so we drained the batteries down to 70% that night. By 11:00 the next morning, they were back to 100% and with all the power the array was generating, we charged our computers and cell phones and took care of all we needed to.I feel so much more secure knowing that, in the event of a disaster, we’ll be able to keep going pretty much as usual – no big energy drains like the dishwasher or the clothes washer, but very happy knowing our two deep freezers and refrigerator, as well as our computers and telephones have all the juice they need.Working with Dan has been great. Whenever we have a question or minor issue with the system, he always responds quickly to texts and emails. We couldnt be happier!

Working with Micha, Dan, and everyone at Sun Dollar was a pleasure. As an electrical engineer with some prior experience in solar power, I had a very particular set of requirements. And as a rather picky DIY homeowner, I may not have been the easiest customer to deal with. But Sun Dollar did not disappoint, and met all of my requests with no hassle, and at a very reasonable price. Their installation was clean, neat, and passed inspection without issue.
